[Q] How to root N7000XXLA6? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have a suggestion how to root a Note with version N7000XXLA6?
For your information:
- SuperOneClick don't work.
- DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0](zergRush Exploit) don't work.
Any suggestions?!?

As I read in this post, you have to flash an older stock rom, root it, then flash the new stock rom using mobile-odin with keep root option on.
Text from the post:
"As New ROMs are not direct rootable, you cant root it direct method like Zergrush exploit or CF-Root, If you want such new ROMs Rooted, You shud have currant Older ROM installed, If you are not rooted and flashed Newer ROM, first downgrade to older ROM as above said.then you may update n Root it with one of following two methods."

XXLA6
i want also root my note
Baseband Version : N7000XXLA4
Buildnumber: GINGERBREAD.XXLA6
KERNEL: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLA6-CL907341 [email protected]#2
anyone how and what to use

As jellevanb wisely stated... This thread holds the answers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I was on La6, flashed KKA with PC Odin, then used CF-Root for KKA (props to Chainfire for his amazing work) then flashed LA6 on-device using CWM Manager that was installed with CF-Root. Now I have La6 with root

I also was on LA6, flashed AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar with PC Odin then used CF-Root-SGN_XX_SER_LA6-v5.0-CWM5. It worked for me.

The easiest way to gain root would be this:

[Q] Downgrading to rootable ROM in order to install custom ROM?

Hi all,
Seems like ICS will be delayed and instead of waiting for it, I've decided to install custom ROM. But before doing so, I would like a few comments from XDA SIFUs...
1.Am currently on:
Baseband ver: N7000DXKL2
Kernel ver: 2.6.35.7-N7000DXLA1
Does that means I'm now on LA1 ROM?
2.If so, i understood that it's not directly rootable, thus needed to be downgraded. Referring to Dr Ketan's information, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997, i would like to downgrade to:
N7000DXKL3 ------ -------2011 December-------- N7000OLBKL2
Will that be...KL3 or KL2?
3.Once downgraded using Odin, will it increase the flash counter?
4.After downgraded, can I just use Zergrush exploit method to root my phone?
5.Which custom ROM is recommended?
Thanks in advance...

1.You hav not mentioned build version, basically that is your ROM
2.You have showned is KL3, but i recommend this to downgrade
N7000XXKL3 ------ 2.3.6 2011 December-------- N7000ODDKL1 --------------------India
3. this stock ROM, which won't raise counter
4.yes, n if you downgrade to above said ROM (which i hav recommend), select ' I have kernel KL1' N follow procedure from thread 'How to Root..."
5.Sorry here, I never tried any custom ROM

Hi ketan,
I received my SGN yesterday and right away the phone updated itself to LB2 (India).
I felt the need to root immediately to shift my apps from my older custom romed galaxy ace to SGN.
I read up your guide and rooted through odin (PC) which rooted my kernel down to the KJ1 version. After the customary reboot everything seemed ok - it showed superuser+CWM in app list. Then the pixellated screen began appearing after the screen off. I could only come out of it by removing battery.
On searching these forums i found some posts on pixellated screen caused by certain custom kernels in SGN. I thought that may be the kernel was being incompatiable with my SGN hardware . Then i downloaded the latest stock rom (LC1 - open europe) and tried flashing the new rom using CWM - but surprisingly the CWM prompted for the CSC file only in the firmware folder. It didnt ask for code and modem files. Still i went ahead with the installation and the CWM installed the new rom with apparently no problems - still the kernel is showing KJ1 after this and again the pixxelation problem is still there.
Iam no expert but i think the kernel KJ1 is the problem
(my baseband version is XXLB2)
Present status
Android version 2.3.6
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7 - ....KJ1 -CL627135
Build number GB.XXLC1
Can i retain my root and upgrade my kernel and get rid of this pixxelation problem ?
Is there an good way to do this ?

If you need a full stock rom you must flash through odin.Flashing through CWM will keep the kernel the same so you have the problem continuing.Flash the rom using PC odin and the problem will be solved

Restoring Root access after upgrade

Hi guys,
I managed to root my Galaxy note using the guide provided by Dr. Ketan here (option is CFroot + CWM). It was successful. Few weeks later I upgraded the firmware through Samsung Kies to LA4 and of course lost root access, and can no longer see CWM.
Can someone please help as to how I can restore root access? Would downloading the LA4 kernel from the same link above and running "already-rooted.bat" work?
No..this means you have lost all the rooting access. You got to re install directly rootable Rom via pc odin and re root the device..this is the simplest way i think.

Two things you can do.
Downgrade to directly rootable rom and then root it . Now install Mobile Odin Pro and flash the newer stock rom through it keeping the ever root option so that mobile odin root the newer rom while flashing.
Second. You can follow this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
Cheers!
Hit thanks if it helped!
Thanks a lot priyanv and abhisahara. Is there a guide somewhere similar to the original rooting thread showing the downgrade + flashing using Odin?
yes, download it from last link on my signature
- Start with ' I have non rootable ROM' that guide you step by step from downgrade to updating ROM

[Q] Noob wanting to root

Hiya all, first post
Here's an old one...i want to root my galaxy note ...
My model is gt-n7000 running android 2.3.6
Baseband n7000xxla4
Kernel LA6
Build gingerbread.xxla6
Even though many of you more technically advanced may find it very easy i have trawled the net & YouTube & just do not know what way to safely go about it!
It's so simple to download a set of files & it does look easy to do but there are a few different ways,
Can anyone please help?
Many thanks in advance
....johnno
For firmware KL7 or later you can't root directly. So you need to flash as stock, but pre-rooted ROM using PC Odin for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352945&referrerid=4386116
After this, flash a Kernel that has CWM 5 and is compatibel to CF Root Kernel (with Mobil ODIN - see market) like this one:

[Q] Question for rooting SGN

Im currenly using SGN GT-N7000,
Android Version : 2.3.6
Kernel : 2.6.35.7-N7000DXLC2
i want to root + cwm + flash new rom ( looking for ICS )
i have searched and some of forumers said these version of kernel cant root yet,
is it?
any idea's?
any tutorials for me? easier for me to understands
Thanks.
Lazy, aren't you? There's a big juicy sticky in the Development subforum covering that in great detail.
But since I'm so nice:
Use Odin to downgrade to a stock ROM that is directly rootable (KKA is great for this purpose), then root using DoomLord Zergrush exploit. Flash a new build using Mobile Odin Pro, keeping root, then flash an appropriate CFroot kernel via Mobile Odin to get CWM recovery. Then you can safely flash whatever.
You may need to downgrade. You can check Dr. Ketan's sticky in the Development forum for the guide.

Hahh..
i do readed and watched several times of the rooting tutorials..
and some says DXLC2 are newer version and can't be root yet,
is it true?
and must downgrade it only can root?
Yes, follow Flintberg's directions and check out the sticky thread.
..and try reading and posting in the relevant section
thanks guys for helping
im from Malaysia, so
can i download / downgrade to :-
N7000DXKK1 --- 2.3.5 2011 November --- N7000OLBKJ6 ( Malaysia )
coz " KKA " roms is other country.. affraid the language changed..
if can, so that after downloaded these older stock rom ( directly rootable ),
use Odin3 to flash it?
after that where to get mobile odin pro? market ?
then use mobile odin pro to flash newer rom " Not Directly Rootable " DXLC2 " with " Ever Root " option ENABLE .
finish >> phone already rooted ???? running on [email protected] ?
got CWM too??
sry.. headache !! -.-"
Since we are in the noob-zone, i have two questions to ask.
1. If i decide to go back in stock ROM, can i use Odin for that? No matter what custom ROM i am at that moment?
2. If i want to flash another custom rom over my old custom rom, do i just make reset, wipe cache, wipe darvic cache and flash using CWM recovery?

N7000 GB Unlock?

Hi,
I've already posted something about this before but I haven't had any response in a while.
I'm trying to unlock my Dad's N7000 locked to Orange in UK and my Galaxy S2 locked to 3 in UK so we can swap.
I know I can flash a pre-rooted ROM or I can Downgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.3.5 usin Odin or other softwares but I don't know which firmware I am supposed to use or kernel or what ROM for UK. or is 2.3.6 rootable? or shud I upgrade to ICS then root?
I'd like to stick to the original ROM as much as possible, and hopefully would be able to update to ICS once rooted and carrier unlocked.
The details for the N7000 are
PDA: N7000XXLC1
Phone: N7000XXLB2
CSC: N7000ORALA1
I've been trying for ages to find the info to do this, i'd appreciate any help pleeease
You can directly update to ICS and then root. as it is easy to root on ICS.(i recommend go clean, e.g. wipe cache and data on GB then flash ICS)
once you root device unlock using this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helroz.galaxysunlock&feature=search_result
Call your provider,
They do it for free - well, o2 do anyway, not sure bout Orange etc... And I had only had my Contract about 2 months..

my /system is at 0.0mb
how do I solve this?
Also my wifi is barely responding
You have partial root, try installing Busybox from market and then install binaries from busybox application inside.
