Hi,
On my stock nexus s I have the youtube app installed by default but I can't find it anywhere to launch as just an app. On the market I see it as installed but I don't have the option to uninstall or even open the app.
What's the deal with this?
Thanks

- Go into Manage Apps --> All
- Google Partner Setup
- Clear Data
- Reboot
Upon reboot you should now see the Youtube app present. You should now be able to update in the market as well.
Awesome. +1 Thanks

I noticed the same issue, but I don't really use youtube so I wasn't even looking for a fix for it - however, since I happened upon this & it's a quick & easy fix I did it. So glad I did, because it also unlocks Google Earth & Google Books!
Thanks
It works. Thanks!!
Just wondering what is Google partner setup.
Erm... Are we supposed to have Google Play yet? I mean literally everybody I know with an Android device has had their Market auto-updated to Google Play, but not on my tablet... The tablet shows up in the Google Play compatibility list too. Have any of you got the Google Play update? Have I missed something? Or has it just not shown up yet?

Have you tried clearing Market cache and data? If you have the button "Uninstall updates" then click this also. Then open Market, accept the terms and close it again. This should force it to update.

Works for me, BTA it can be restricted depending on your country. Here it goes:
Updating the Android Market Icon to Google Play
20 Mar, 2012
PLEASE NOTE: This News & Alert is specific to our mobile and tablet products with the ANDROID operating system. So the following may not be specific to your product (e.g. Series 7 SLATE PC - XE700T1A operating system is Windows 7).
Instructions for upgrading to the Google Play application (apps, games, movies and books).
1. Select (tap) the 'Android Market' icon.
2. Read the pop-up 'Terms & Conditions' menu notifying the end-user of the upgrade to 'Google Play', and select 'Accept'.
3. At this point the icon should update and say 'Play'.
4. When the 'Google Play' menu appears, select (tap) 'Continue'.
5. There will be a name change at the top of the screen, when inside the market app, but the layout will essentially be the same.
Note
Due to a small data download requirement, this change may take some time depending on the end-user's data connection.
For the fastest update we recommend using HSPA+ or WI-FI.
6. Move back to the home (main or idle) screen, and select (tap) 'Applications'.
Note
a). If the handset is rebooted then the 'Android Market' app icon will have been removed.
After this select (tap) 'Applications'.
Then replace the Android market shortcut with the 'Play Store' icon.
(This can be done by dragging the icon to the home or main screen from the applications menu).
b). If the handset device is not rebooted after updating the play application then the icon will need to be removed manually from the home screen and replaced with the new Play shop icon.
Navigate to the apps and create a new shortcut to 'Play Store' by dragging the icon to the home screen.
Please note
On the Galaxy Nexus devices the homescreen shortcut will automatically be removed.
Therefore the end-user will need to navigate to the apps and create a new shortcut to 'Play Store' by dragging the icon to the home screen.
Important
If after the above procedure is performed, the 'Market' icon is not replaced after some time with the 'Play Shop' icon, then the end-user will need to perform all of the following steps as outlined below.
Move to 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and check that either of the icons appear in the list as shown. Then:
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Then select (tap) 'Clear data'.
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Then select (tap) 'Clear cache'.
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' > 'Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Select (tap) 'Uninstall updates'.

My tab just updated yesterday to Play as well.
Do things look squeezed in to anyone else? The app tiles in the main part, and my installed apps and information columns don't take up the whole screen. The toolbar at the top and the green stripe do though, so it doesn't seem to be a malfunction.
The tight quarters make things feel squished. Plus, I find it much slower than the Market already.
buggy play store
I was forced to take the upgrade today. Now I can't scroll thru installed apps. I have to update them one at a time even if I don't want them. Am using a rooted i957. Anyone else having this problem? Solutions?

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded "cache clear" and ran it but still no scrolling. I really don't want to keep updating the bloatware but it looks like I'm being forced to. I know people are working on a rom for the i957. Hope they come up with something.
the playstore looks really nice. But i think the old market was a bit quicker.. or not?
Tonight, I updated plenty of my apps on my nexus7 and no problems.
Decided to try a few new apps now and every thing I try to download is showing as an error.
Anyone else having problems? I havent changed anything on my device and just wondered if its a market issue?
Thanks

Yes happened to me tonight too, Ive even tried deleting my account clearing data, cache in play store app, rebooting, uninstalling updates and zilch. Short of doing a factory reset im at a loss.
Yep. I have the same problem at the moment..
thanks folks, I tried all the same steps so its definitely a Google play store issue.
I tried my S2 as well and same problem.................................Google
This issue was solved on my wife's Nexus 7 by following the instructions on the Google Play Store help page:
Make sure you've cleared the cache and data of both the Google Play Store app and the Download manager. Here's how:
Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
Tab over to "All"
Select the Google Play Store app, and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache;" then, select Download manager and tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
Start Google Play Store again.
Hope this helps.

Server issues?
I was having issues, so I just came back a couple hours later and everything worked again. Maybe something's going on with their servers??
Play store downloads have been super slow for me recently. Speed test shows 30Mbps but play store downloads are like 50Kbps.

Are any of you having issues with the Google Now search of installed applications? I have the checkbox checked in the Google Now settings (Settings -> Phone search -> Apps- Names of installed applications), but sometimes this just stops working until I go into the settings again to uncheck and check it.
This also happens with my Contacts

Yes! This just started for me a couple days ago. The only thing that setting you mentioned above does for me now is search THROUGH installed apps for hits, but no longer brings up the app itself. Unfortunately your fix of checking and unchecking doesn't seem to do the trick for me (I'm on a Note 2).
For anyone who's not familiar with this behavior, it's a really nice feature of the main Google Now bar everyone should have on their home screen:
Punching in part of an app name in the Google Now bar pulls up hits including the app itself.
It's very convenient to for example turn on your phone, type in "Scan", and get as the top hit the Genius Scan app for example (you might only remember the "Scan" part of the name of the app).
Or type in "Face" and the Facebook app shows up. (Partials work.)
It's very similar to the iOS left-swipe search, the Windows 7 Start button, and OSX Spotlight.
Hunting and pecking through the app list is for chumps.
After today's Google+ update patch, this issue is now resolved.
same problem here..

Change language is the trick. Worked flawless! Thank you.
Anyway to do this with some Xiaomi apps, like Music, Videos, etc? I'm thinking to root to disable them, and to install a 3rd part locator on system partition, because "Locate My Device" don't activate my SIM card.
