VZ6 root method

this is for the revo VZ6 users who don't want to update to Gingerbread and have all the bloat GB comes with and don't want to do a downgrade to VZ4 with LGNST but still want root access, cwm, and flash roms
Thanx to Mtmichaelson and djrbliss for creating this root for the Lg Esteem that also works for the Revo VZ6 Froyo and VZ7 GB
Mtmichaelson post somewhere on the LG Revo forum that it'll work on VZ6 so i gave it a try
I was on the VZ4 running Revolt 1.5 and when GB was pushed OTA last night i use LGNST to upgrade to stock VZ6 then tried the LG Esteem root method and got rooted within 1-3 minutes, it auto reboot my revo after root is complete, i'm rooted using the app " Root Check " to comfirmed
then install revotoolkit to get CWM and flash Revolt 1.5 and it worked flawlessly

just follow the directions and install the drivers if you have any issues rooting
i did this on win7 64bit pc so i'm not sure if others would work
NOTE: i'm posting this not to take away any credits from the devs that worked so hard to help us.
i'm posting this just to share the info i've found and works so it'll be easier for other revo members to look for answers

No, but I don't see why it shouldn't work.. But we don't really need it since we can root in other ways.

If you just use the right version of superoneclick ( v 2.1.1 ) and then select exploit method gingerbreak, you can root this device.
I did this yesterday, after the v20L crap update...
I'm now back to cyanogen...

Or you can use nvflash method, always working, see thread in dev section, 'Root for dummies'.
The method you point is based on Revolutionary stuff which is quite specific to certain partition and mount frames, not sure at all it will work here, as LG hasn't the same bootloader policy (one if the very few good thing in LG, opened bootloader, on the contrary of HTC, Samsung and others).

AU Vodafone P970 ROM Recommendation?

Hi all.
I am wondering if someone might be able to recommend a ROM for my wife's AU P970. I have some flashing/unlocking experience with my HTC Desire HD, and my current Motorola Atrix though there were some very straight forward guides available for me to follow.
The reason I am looking for a new ROM is that my wife's P970 often freezes/lags and has a lot of Bluetooth audio issues.
Are there any beginner guides available for the P970?
Appreciate any help/advice.

just use search and u'll find rom 2.3.4 oficial with root

I have a Virgin AU Black working on V2.3.4 root that others refer to on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441901 you will need to root your phone first and install Rom Manager in order to install.
Or you can use the factory KDZ update v2.3.4 and not have a rooted phone.
Both are great options. I have a non rooted - but custom install of the KDZ official ROM on my other P970 and both work great with my bluetooth.
I have a Australian BMW E39 with the BMW bluetooth system http://www.bimmernav.com/e39.html and both phones work flawlessly with the Bluetooth system.
There is no difference between the function on an Virgin or Vodophone AU phone using the generic firmwares mentioned above.
Again, if you are ok to root your phone, go with the zip install. If you are not comfortable rooting then go with the KDZ install. KDZ can be found with the LG KDZ upgrade tool

Thank you. How did you root your P970?
Since it is not my phone I would prefer to root and use CWM for simplicity.

If it is not your phone, I would go with the factory firmware upgrade KDZ install. Do a search on how to there are many step by step instructions

how do i update lg thrill if am rooted

so my lg thrill is rooted i tryed to update my lg but couldnt why idk and will this mess up my phone if its rooted and can sum one just give me steps i did all that said to do on the update tool

Start at step 3 lg flash tool and FOLLOW IT STEP BY STEP or its not going to work youll need to flash v20p if you want stock at&t and youll lose root no mattet what kdz you flash

[Q] Q: How to Root V20B?

Hi I just bought P970 with V20B Fw, the problem is I cant root it. I searched for the steps already but the flashed bin or kdz download link is not working anymore. Is there any other way to root it or can I downgrade to V10B Froyo so I can just use Gingerbreak??? Pls Help. Thanks.

There is now tools to automatically convert the kdz to bin and fls and inject CWM. Search for P970 ROM converter and get the kdz file from lg-phone-firmware.com

Patch it yourself, download the kdz and then follow my how to, it's being done in less then 10 minutes...

Thanks man. I was able to root my OB now. I downgraded to Froyo first using Smarttool then rooted with Blackjack. damn gingerbread is hard to root, what more when ics comes. i hope not.
