V20B is the ROM without the bloatware, right?
Finally some progress. Anyone try this method yet?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA Premium App
I think so and also I think V20B was unrootable. I keep saying think as my wife is now using my phone as a Zune update to her Windows 7 phone bricked it today
I don't know what bands the V20B has as it is under the P920 (not P920H) section in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
V20B was unrootable before the .bin file was found. Blame LG for blocking SOC, zergRush etc.
This version of V20B is from the Asia-Pacific region so it should have:
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
However, the difference between P920 and P920H is this:
P920: HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
P920H: HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 2100
Isn't the .bin file just the OS? Doesn't the .fls file contain the basebands? So if we have working basebands on our phone we should be able to flash the cracked .bin file and be good to go?
You're correct.
Link to download patched 20b
http://letitbit.net/download/28144.2c0dff54ff9067849437037dfce4/BIN_LGP920AT-00-V20b.rar.html
https://rapidshare.com/files/2093505997/BIN_LGP920AT-00-V20b.rar
So this file is already rooted? Or does it allow us to root using oneclick?
It's already rooted.
Great. But man is it taking forever to download.

How to get the Droid 3 on ics with US Gsm capabilities, i know this was possible on gingerbread, any ideas?
Hi,
The Droid 3 can be used only to Verizon in the USA even if you unlock the phone.
There is a thread for using it in tMobile not sure if it works. GSM will work only outside the USA. Flashing a Radio, recovery.. Etc are not possible in it because it has a locked and encrypted. bootloader... Only option is to use bootstrap..
If I'm wrong, please correct me...

After many months of discussions, I was wondering if anybody had ever flashed an XT860 radio on an XT862. I know people were using the XT883 to get Tmo/ATT access on their XT862, but has anybody ever tried using the XT860 radio? Some have said it's different radio hardware. I'm not 100% sure, and would like to hear from experience.
Also, if anybody needs it, the SBF for the Bell XT860 has been released so you can easily pull the radio file from there.
Please let mek now!
Bump, Anyone?

Curious about this myself. I've heard the same question asked in a couple other Droid 3 threads but it doesn't look like anyone's tried it yet.

I'm interested more for the overall engineering process for motorola. Do the different model numbers actually have different hardware on the inside? Or is it all software based?
Also, the note doesn't have a physical keyboard

I know this is an old thread but since some time has passed and more people have had time to play with using the xt883 radio on the xt862 I'm wondering if anyone has gotten around to trying the xt860 radio? I have an xt861 I'd like to put the xt883 radio on and don't really have the experience needed to try out the xt860 radio without some idea it would work but it seems to me that if this worked it would be a better solution than using the xt883 radio and having to deal with the few bugs that has then just using the xt860 radio which to my understanding is a straight gsm radio to start with. If there were a way to use the xt883 radio and maintain cdma and gsm then I could see the point but since we lose cdma anyways why not just go with the xt860 anyways? If someone wanted to provide the files and walk me through it I'd be willing to try it either on the xt861 I have or on an old xt862 if you'd rather after I get the 861 up and running on the 883 radio. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree and this has already been tried and didn't work but I haven't seen anyone state that to be the case when I went searching. Anyone have anythoughts on this?

You can always go back to original radio so there is no risk for you, maybe the latest baseband (newer than Verizon's one) from sbf.droi-developers.org the ACG OR ACG-nTelos will work fine, who knows maybe is US gsm-unlocked, just extract and flash the radio.img, no modified build.prop is neccesary
For the moment I don't have a D3 at my disposal to try the 860 radio but you can try to mount the system.img from the xt860 sbf zip file(mount -o loop) and copy the build.prop if after flashing you have unknown baseband version.

Don't flash the 860 radio on an 861/862/883 or vice versa. If you want GSM use the 883 radio, if it will let you.

The baseband on the xt861 I have is n_03.18.37P . This is different than the xt862 I'm using now and appears to be newer would this cause a problem with using the xt883 radio? If so is there a way to change the baseband on the xt861 to the same as the one on my xt862? Would using the one click unbrick found on this forum change the baseband?

It's easy to change it, you only have to write de radio partition with the radio.img file, the user data can remain intact. the ACG version number I remember that it's ending with 37 and the verizon's one is ending with 32
you have to put the phone in fastboot mode and use the moto-fastboot.exe /flash radio radio.img
all the radio.img versions can be found in the zip files from the http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ site, it takes around 5 minutes to do it, but as I said maybe you need a modified buid.prop from xt860, because for xt863 if is not modded you will have unknown version number for the baseband and no radio signal.
When I did this I didn't need to change the build prop. It work just fine for me. It worked while I was in Afghanistan and works on ATT and T-Mobile here stateside.

I appreciate the advice and I have used the 883 radio sp successfully several times but what I want to know is why can't we just use the 860 radio? Is there a hardware difference or will it just not work ith the 862 firmware? If the firmware is the problem could we just puut the entire 860 firmware on an 862/861/883 and essentially make it an 860? Have you tried this and it didn't work?

I think I read somewhere that with a foreign sim in the phone it will work on at&t and tmo and it would work in afghanistan anyways so I guess my question is were you using a sim from a carrier in afghanistan when you returned here?

trying to restock using overcome instructions, do i use the jk3 jmf or jpz
If you’re using a GSM-based GT-P1000 Tab (Asia/Europe/ Middle East/Oceania/Africa, rest of the world, etc), look for the “JPZ Modem” folder and select the “modem.bin” file.
If you’re a North American T-MOBILE Tab user, look for the “T-Mobile Modem” folder and select the “modem.bin” file.
If you’re an AT&T (USA), TelCel (Mexico – if you’re not using the GT-P1000L Tab) and Telstra (Australia) user, look for the “JK3 Modem” folder and select the “modem.bin” file. It doesn’t matter if you prefer another modem, you can flash another modem, once you’re done…
donno which group i belong to GT-P1000R rogers canada?
The usual GSM one, JPZ if your provider wasn't mentioned specifically.

when i use the jpz under 2.3.3 gingerbread, 3g and voice are fine, but once i upgrade to cm9+4.0.4, voice ok, but 3g, or H never show up
I am using speakout data in canada, it is the rogers network.
what should i do?

Rogers use AT&T modem.
But the device has to be a P1000R or P1000T or the I987 AT&T tab.
Else no 3G.

When I download the vio tutorial from youtube, I did has a AT&T modem.bin file in there,
right now I am using cm9+ice cream, with the JPZ modem, can I use odlin 1.7 without re-partition and pick the at&t modem to write over it, or there is a better way to do it? or I have to start from the beginning to restock the p1000 again.
I did try to use airdroid and try to find /system/radio/modem.bin, but I cannot see it.
Technically what is special in P1000R and P1000T, are they hardware different or just software driver different only, is there possible to get the same firmware?
if I go to Singapore or Hong Kong with this AT&T modem driver, can I still use the local sim for phone and 3g data?
thanks for your support. I find this p1000 is such a flexible machine to play with.

Odin without repartition,
Or just grab the cwm flashable zip

Did you manage to solve your problem? I have the same kind of issue.
Ok, my tablet was an sgh-i957 (lte at&t version), but it was bricked, so i bought a jtag service on ebay, and after i receive the tablet, the boot loader was of the p7320 model, so i flash the tablet with the sgh-i987 stock rom, but after flash, the memory intern memory was just 127 mb (it was the only problem, the other things was working good, even the 3g and 4g), so i re-flashed the tablet with a stock ICS rom, from Norway(Telenor). All was working good, but..Now i have another problem, my 3g is not working (just edge), the stock rom that i use is from Norway (telenor), and the bands that they use for the 3g are 900/2100MHz, but i need the 850 / 1900 bands to make it work in at&t, how can i solve this?, can i flash another modem to back to the 850 / 1900, or make it quad band.
My actual rom is ICS from Norway(telenor), and the baseband is P7320XXLPI
IM GOING TO DONATE TROUGH PAYPAL IF SOMEONE SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
Thanks..
You can flash another radio thru your recovery. It would be a zip file. The problem is finding one. I've tried to search for one but don't see any. I'm also not sure how close the 7320 is to the 7300/7310. You most likely will not brick your device flashing a radio. You run a high risk flashing a kernel or rom. so you might try some for a different device. Just be prepared to odin back to stock. You might even try a radio for the i727, galaxy skyrocket. I successfully did that on my i957. I flashed ucmc1
Edit. If you go to the i727 development forum, go to the stickies there and look for vincom and his rom, radios, etc. There are a bunch to choose from.
Ps, I would recommend the ucli3 skyrocket radio. The i727 and i957 have the same modem chip.
Fyi, this is the radio I flashed on my i957, it's from the i727, http://d-h.st/NWW. It'll work on ics. Don't need to do any wipes, just flash over what you have on your tab now. Particularly don't wipe system!

Yes. Odin will put the stock firmware and radio back on. I'm pretty sure the i727 radio will work. It definitely does with i957 firmware. Just not sure with the 7320firmware you have. But its more hardware related than firmware and you have the right hardware.

The first step will be to put a custom recovery on your tab. This file is twrp, http://d-h.st/fqw. Download it on to your computer. You'll flash it with odin. You install it just like the stock rom ie, run it in PDA with only auto-reboot and f.reset checked.
Note, this twrp file its for the i957. I'm not sure what it will do with your 7320. Partitions may have been changed and you may run into the same problems you did when flashing the i957 rom.
Edit: I was able to find cwm recovery for the 7320, http://d-h.st/Wcv. This might work better.

I did try the same procedure as I did b4 for GB but it does not work on JB.
Has anyone able run Bionic with JB on TMobile network?
T-Mobile runs on a GSM network. The Bionic is a CDMA phone. So it is unlikely that the Bionic will work on the T-Mobile network unless it has a hidden GSM radio. From what I can tell GB was needed to enable the GSM radio.

You need cdma software to unlock your radio to work with gsm. Also your phone has to be rooted.
