Unroot Guide? - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Hey all,
I'm looking for a guide with files for unrooting the 8.9 retail Wi-Fi version in the US. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Unrooting is simple as rooting..
Just place file on sdcard
Go to recovery menu
apply zip fom sdcard until done and reboot..
You back to normal user again,..
This file will do dalvik-cache wipe and data wipe if partition is same as default as iam..
So just in case if you want to back your tab for warranty purposes..this method maybe usefull..
Use it with your own risk..
Here is my posting about this a few months ago

Unrooting is detailed even in my guide which includes the file suwandiapr suggested above. Flash that little file or run the manual command (more in the guide).

Hey, I'm seeing a better responsive stock browser after the update.
The issue is discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873364
The scroll is now usable on pages with big images which wasn't the case before.
I'm so happy, I have a working stock browser again.
Anyone else see the same improvement?
Also do you know of any other bug fixes?
this is OTA update not Full ROM

I did it OTA style and it did not remove root for me. Weird.
Although I'll have to flash CWM again, it seems to be broken.
So, the root is possible on the new version 2.3.6 with the update.zip of chendd ?

I'm wondering the exact same thing.
Tried to flash the update.zip thru CWM but it gives an error. Is this normal?. Maybe have the "stock recovery" is a pre-requisite to flash an OTA update. If not, perhaps I missed something to do.

It happened the same here. I think it would give the same with the stock recovery, I already tried. I restored the very first backup I done right after rooting and it worked flawlessly. Maybe this happens when we give root permissions to apps that don't deserve them
However I lost root and I just re-flashed the superuser zip file.

Nope. I tried what you did. Also pushing the app via dab. Deleting data and cache then deleting the apk and pushing the new one. Every time it said the app could not be found cause it was not installed.
Anyone else have any luck with this?
The only other thing I can think of is replacing it in the rom zip file before flashing.
Can anyone extract the boot.img for 2.3.6 and post it up?
I kind of did something silly and need it!
Previous boot images do not work with 2.3.6.
A
Never mind, sorted!
PS: Just used the superuser file and have successfully rooted 2.3.6 and installed CW Recovery 5 too.
I know the dangers, but **** it, I like having root access!

[Q] Root gingerbread 2.3.4 v20i

Hello,
I did a factory (provider endorsed) update to 2.3.4 v20i and I cannot seem to root the phone. I have read the noob article for optimus black and tried:
- gingerbreak
- unlockroot
- superoneclick
So basically, with the exploits being closed off in the recent versions, there is no simple way to root this version?
Regards,
Len
If you want to keep your current v20i then there is no already made root method but you can inject cwm using dd on linux . But if you just want to install a custom rom , here is a root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480392
. And search before you post

Like the OP, I did the official LG update to 2.3.4 (v20i) and tried to use the method in the above link to root it and install a custom ROM. It didn't work because the Smartflash tool started the process and then stopped, saying 'Timeout error'. I searched the forums for a solution but no one else seemed to have the problem. I wasn't clear on why this was...maybe because they all rooted while on Froyo, or on a different V20 version.
Any help would be appreciated.
OK, I will reply to my own post as I ended up solving the problem
First, I am using a LG P970g on Canadian carrier Telus. It is known as the Optimus Black Skype Edition.
First, I downgraded my stock 2.3.4 ROM to a Froyo build (V10A EEU XXX) using SmartFlashTool. The ROM is in the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448803
The previous .bin and .fls files I used were from a more recent ROM (March 2012) while the one in the above link is May 2011. Using this older one allowed me to downgrade using SFT without problems.
I then rooted using Gingerbreak, and used ROM Manager app from the app store to install CWM. Rebooted into CWM and installed the custom ROM I wanted from my SD Card.
Took me a long time to figure this out, but I did it. Very pleased.
Check my noob how to, there is a way, of how to root EVERY ROM in the 3rd post.

I have a question about that post. It seem to require that the firmware in the phone be dumped out in kdz format (which LG Extract is mentioned to work on). There was some mention in some posts that that could be done using LG-Utils. The only LG Utils I can find is LG-Utils-0.4.2.zip but it seems to be for KP500 (KP500-Utils-EN.exe) and KS360 (KS360-Utils-EN.exe). Is this the right LG Utils? If so which exe is to be used and what command and parameters needs to be entered to get the kdz file to be used with procedure you mentioned?
Thanks,
Len
Read the guide, there is even a link to that utility and you simply need to download your firmware in kdz format, from lg or any other server

Yes, I read that post and the guide and that entire thread. The reason that I found your suggested method attractive was because you mentioned:
"To flash and actually root the SW, you need to follow THIS guide, from Step 2 on, and it will be perfectly rooted and you can be sure, that noone patched anything else in your software, cause you made it on your own."
The post and thread suggests to download the kdz file from lg-phone-firmware.com where the domain is registered to some guy named Vitiello Luigi
in France. I guess the stuff from this site is safe but it is less reassuring than getting it directly off my phone.
Len
I downloaded the kdz file for my firmware from lg-phone-firmware.com and was able to go through the process of getting a rooted version on the phone fine. The only brief head scratching moment was with the clock work mod reboot recovery menu system where when you invoke the commands which require confirmation (like installing superuser.zip) where the confirmation options show a bunch of 'No's and you have to scroll down to get to the one entry that says 'Yes'.
Len
No one's replying to my thread anymore and a post was deleted last week for some reason.. Anyway, I got my phone rooted too, same method, but had no network access, 3g or phone service, did you overcome that at all?

well I'm about to try rooting with some method or other. I too have the 20i telus ROM. I'm a tad perplexed. I've rooted many devices and for this one it seems rather convoluted. ...a bit daunting to say the least. In any event will try the suggested method in this thread and will report with results. This device is for the moment my main daiLy so if I lose network I'll be back to an old flip phone, and you don't need me to say how awful that would be... LOL

Thanks!. I used SFT on another LG, was easy as pie.
So, SFT will flash whatever you feed it to the device and wipe it (it's a nandroid)? BUT can flash ROMs only if they are in proper bin/fls format?
If so that makes sense. Little confused by all the options/non-options for rooting v20i/2.3.4, and I don't care to keep what version I have to get root. I just want to be able to use custom ROMs on my black.
Sorry for all the questions - I don't fully understand the LG roms/system yet.

Yep, the Droid Utility is a great tool for this phone.
If you're new to this, maybe a little explanation may be helpful..
the Droid Utility is a collection of scripts or tools you can run one after the other. For your purpose, rooting the Droid4, you only would use option 3 - and if you want to run a custom rom on this tool, also option 4. (Google "How to Safestrap" for more info on that)
1) and 2) are if you want to flash your phone back to stock.
So download the utility, extract it.
Make sure you have the drivers installed (if you can connect to your phone as a mass storage device you should be ok)
Click on the run.bat file, choose option 3 and follow the onscreen instructions.

??? What are you trying to get back to? droid utility can flash any firmware file you want - or use RSD lite to flash stock firmware..
But where are you and what are you trying to accomplish and why?
Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob. I was rooted, took the latest OTA, restored root with voodoo. Now I just want to unroot and wipe it. Current
System 98.72.189.xt894 , Android 4.1.2, no custom Rom.
So I guess if I use option #1(I think) on droid utility, that should do what I need? Or is there something else I need to do as well since I took the recent ota?

No- just choose option #1. The last OTA doesn't make a difference one way or the other...
well, my problem is that the latest update (97.82.189) would fail, so i unrooted with supersu, flashed stock with droid4 utility then installed the update without fail, now i cannot re-root the phone, ive follow all instructions of clearing smartactions cache and data before attempting, phone is in debug and ive tried on both mtp and camera usb modes several times with no luck, script seems to run through as it should but root never takes, im thinking i should have never used supersu to unroot and should have just flashed stock and tried the update, would really suck if i cannot get root back

I am in of some guidance. At the moment I am trying to obtain root on LG k10 MS428, running MM 6.0.1 SW version MS42810d. Snap dragon processer. I read through all of the post on Xda-devolpers thread for the LG k10. I looks like only way to obtain root for Qualcomm is to downgrade to Android Lollipop, then use Kingroot.
Looking for a way to obtain the firmware file ms42810b assuming the would downgrade me to Lolli. Pveenith has worked hard and has a version of TWRP available for my Phone and the proper dll file in order to downgrade. I Just need the firmware file. Or another way to obtain root on MM 6.0.1 I would even be interested in doing a systemless root the process. Can anyone please help me with this situation?

[LG-H901] Stock ROM, Rooted, with Busybox

Thanks to Mikeyinid and TheJesus for providing the stock img files and flashable recovery zip. I used them more than once on my own device, and got frustrated at having to re-root it every time. To speed things up I decided to create a pre-rooted zip with busybox installed.
Feel free to use it as you see fit. If you format /system before you install this TWRP will warn you that there is no OS installed, but it's wrong, it will boot.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982086992710
Flash this via TWRP, no wipe should be needed, but it can't hurt.

This is for the h901 which is the Tmo variant just fyi. So yeah you are good.
WiFi calling works fine. The only thing that breaks it sort off is installing xposed and that only breaks it if you don't have LTE at all. If at home you can use WiFi but it has to see LTE signal as well. If you are In. area with no LTE or if airlane mode on with just WiFi on it wont work.
