[Q] Screen permanently turns off? - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I just got CM9 alpha 2 on this thing yesterday and have been really liking it so far. So it installed no problem, ran it fine no problem (battery drain was a bit heavier than the alpha 0 I had on prior to this but no biggie). So I turned it off last night before going to bed at around 7% charge, and just plugged it in to charge this morning through the OEM cable/charger.
Now here's the problem, the moboot screen would come up, I can choose whatever i like. And of course I go into boot cyanogen and the boot animation starts, lasts for maybe about 5-10 seconds. After that, the screen just blacks out, it turns off and I can't get it back on no matter what I do. I pressed all the physical buttons and swiped the screen, no dice. The only thing I can do is hold the power and home button for 10 seconds and restart it back to the moboot. I had it on charge for a good hour so the battery should have enough juice. Also I tried this both on charge and without charge. I wiped cache, dalvik and re-flashed alpha 2 and still nothing. Any help? TIA
Update: So I flashed over CM9 alpha 1 and same thing happens. I managed to boot into webOS (first time in weeks) and that works just fine. I'd really hate to do a complete wipe over something that may be trivial, thanks for any responses.
Final update: I fixed it guys, it was something trivial which I had to fix with a wipe. I left rootdim's brightness setting on at 1 which the touchpad booted up with, usually the brightness is so low the backlight turns off.

blank/black screen after boot - frozen? gulp. . help

Howdy,
So I flashed my phone to cm4.2 last weekend and everything has been quite dandy. But I now I have a problem, and I kind of doubt its from the cmod because that was a week ago and this problem happened yesterday...
Yesterday I was talking on the phone until the battery died. Then I rushed to my charger and plugged it in. I tried to turn it back on but it would not. It goes to the G1 screen then to the CM boot animation screen then the screen turns BLACK! IT will not stop doing this. I have to keep pulling out the battery. Last night I even pulled out the SIM and battery for a few minutes. Then put them back and tried again. Same result. I charged it fully last night (while off) thinking that might help. This morning after the LED light was green I tried again to reboot the phone.. Also sometimes the phone will do this reboot sequence after I plug the charger in, but it still goes to the blank/black screen... awww..
I am really hoping I do not have to wipe the phone and start over again with my apps and stuff because I have not really found a great free backuper and have not backed up within the last few days. I can use home+end call button to get to the bootloader (right name?) screen. However I am REALLY hoping I do not have to wipe.
Any solutions? I tried searching but could not find an answer..
THANKS!! This is basically terrible timing too because I leave on vacation tomorrow morning and will be needing my phone.

X1 wont start up

I have this problem that when I try to boot my X1 it zooms when I press the power button but after that nothing happens!
The screen stays black and when I press the button again nothing happens...
Have to take battery out to get it to zoom again.. Still nothing happens.
When I give the X1 external power it doesn't do the zoom and it does not charge (lights dont go on)
When I keep the reset button pressed I do get in the software part where I can load ROMs... I got it started to reload the ROM for reinstallation but when it tried to boot again, again nothing...
now I cant even get into bootloader..
leave it on a charger for a few hours
Looks like you bricked your phone somehow. Sometimes it happens even if you didn't do anything to it (if you flashed a unofficial rom). Now what you can do is to sell it for parts for $20 or $30 on eBay. =) Good luck on selling.
Try with another fully charged battery.
Does not seem to be bricked...
Since I left it "on" all night and tried to take battery out and start it up..
And it worked... Got into windows but as soon as he went on standby and I tried to get it out it stayed black again. After rebooting the same thing... Stayed pitch black...
Oke when I remove the battery and press the on/off button a few times and leave it for a couple of minutes, stick battery back in there and boot it, I can get into windows..
Problem now is that after a period of a couple of minutes it crashes again and the same problem persists with rebooting, untill I do the same trick
Found out new info about the problem! When I removed the battery for a short while I could boot it and do everything but it would crash again after a short while..
I removed the battery the whole night now and it keeps working for like an hour straight now. So it depends on how long the battery got removed (strange :S)
Next to that the X1 wont charge when it's shut down... Only when I get it to boot into OS..

[Q] Help! Incredible s not booting

So, here's the whole story. My phone's display cracked after it fell. But everything was working normally and the touch response was as good as ever. Being the grade A procrastinator that i am, i used the phone for a few weeks delaying taking it to service. One day the phone charged out. I charged it fully but it wouldn't turn on(but it used to vibrate on pressing the power button like it usually does when switching on). I took out the battery and switched it on again...i did this for about 10 times when it powered on. I continued using it when again one fateful day it charged out overnight (i forgot to charge it when battery was less than 10%). It wouldn't turn on again even after taking out the battery and switching on... for like a 50 times. Then i booted into recovery by pressing vol down and power and then after 10 seconds again pressing vol down then enter(since recovery is the second option in hboot). So, now i'm perplexed..was it the display that's not working?..and then it booted into recovery and the display was perfect. I performed a clean wipe and re-installed the rom that i had been using(Vivokat). The problem persisted. Why is the display working only when the phone is booted into recovery?? Then i decided to unroot the phone and then installed the stock ruu..now as you know the recovery is stock HTC's..i can't boot even into recovery. any suggestions?

xperia sp wont turn on

hello my friend, recently i got my phone out of my pocket. i realized it was off. i tried to turn it on but nothing, then i pressed the off button on the back and it went on. stayed on for a couple of minutes, then the it frozen, the screen faded and it went off again. i left it the whole following morning charging, when i came back it turned on, stayed on for a couple of minutes (a little bit more of the previous time) then again same thing. if i charges it has a red light (sign that it is charging) if i disconnect the charger and try to switch it on it flashes 3 red light then it stops, and then again three red lights. i tried to charge it via computer but it wont be recognized, i also tried volume up and power button, volume down and power button, and the off button on the back. at the service center they say it cannot be fixed because it is out of warranty since the screen as been replaced by unofficial service. after a bit of charging it turned on today, but soon went off. i need help, i would at least want to know what the issue is. thanks a lot. ps. i can manage to let it work
Maybe try using flashtool to flash software. Don't wipe anything except maybe cache or so. See if that works

i flashed an old backup a few days ago, this backup used to work really well but i have been having this issue since more than a week and it gave me the same problem also with this backup. now i have wiped the chache via cmw. i will wait untill the phone gets to 50 percent of battery, then try to use it without the charger. i'll keep in touch

i wiped the chache . it worked for a couple of hours, then it went off. now when i try to charge it it shows no signs of life at all. does someone know if this could be a hardware issue? like the battery or something

Weird Battery issues

So my turbo just turned 2. For the past 6 months or so been having some weird issue. I was on RR Remix for a while, then went to CM14 by BBH27 for a while, and then back to RR, and now on ComputerFreak Stock. I don't have any issue with charging the phone. Quick charge works just fine.
I have had issues where the battery will just be dead even if it was at like 50% and confirmed charging.
I thought maybe it was my stupid charger (I have another that I have yet to test) but then last night, after charging my phone before I went to bed i unplugged it. I woke up around 6:45 to find my phone once again dead. It looks like around 2 am the battery just fell. Dead. Just gone. I go and hit the power button and i got 1%. The battery graph looks as if i turned the phone off. For the most part my battery last all day 12+ hours with some good usage too.
I'm getting ready to flash back to stock now that full stock MM is out now to flash and see if that makes any difference.
For what it's worth, my Turbo would just straight up shutdown when I was on RR. And not go through the shutdown process, just crash to a powered off state. It would happen if the battery was full, low, or anywhere in between. I don't know if that's the issue you were experiencing, but I suppose it's possible.
My daughters is having the same issue.
Anyone have a solution?
I've tried clearing caches, battery recalibration, etc.
Going to see about doing a fully clean install tomorrow if she is okay with it.
When this happens and the phone just shuts down, does the battery percentage immediately jump back up when you plug in a charging cable? I was having that problem when using wireless charging a lot. It turned out be a battery calibration issue. You can re-calibrate by holding the power button and KEEP holding it when the "Power Off" dialog pops up. The phone will eventually reboot itself then leave it overnight on the factory turbo-charger.
One warning - Since the marshmallow update, performing this procedure seems to wipeout your BT connections.
