hi im having problem charging my galaxy, it won't charge at all after the battery died out once when i plug it into a power source the loading circle comes out then battery than it repeates everytime. Is this the way a galaxy charges i never had a phone like this before.
I am new to this forum and I am having the same issue, I got my phone yesterday and now I am only getting the gray battery with circle flashing every 10 or 15 seconds, I have tried switching wall sockets and usb ports
Any help will be helpful. Thanks
Mario
What was the problem... mine is doing this out of the blue. Thinking it is the battery but let me know what your problem was ...
The charging / micro USB socket could be broken. Does it work if you wiggle it around a little bit?
Alternatively the actual plug / socket could be broken. Have you tried a different one?
Have exactly the same problem.

I have two battery's for my Galaxy S - the same results on each battery. Bin today to a technical store they have made an examination of the USB. No hardware issues, must be software.
Will flash back to a stock GB.
Results coming up later.
Right now on: MIUI MintBerry Edition 1.12.2-2 (2.3.7)

I found the charger that comes with the galaxy s is to be blunt, ****. Mine packed up after a few days so I bought a non geniune one from fleabay and thats been fine.
With stock GB the issue still pressist. I will also try with a different charger, hope it will work.

Starting from about last night, but I haven't done anything with the phones software or hardware. Running it rooted on one of the earlier firmwares.
So now my note is randomly saying it's connected when it isn't connected, and when I do have it connected it sometimes doesn't recognize it and doesn't charge. Battery indicator is moving up when it thinks it's connected but not, and going down when it's connected but thinks it isn't.
Is this a hardware problem? I hope I won't have to mess about with my warranty, I imported my note from the UK, and I am living in Japan so it would mean weeks without it.

You probably have dirt in your usb port. Try cleaning it with a soft brush or something
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I've been scrubbing away at it with a toothbrush which seems to help, but then whenever I connect the charger it goes back to randomly acting like the charger is connecting and disconnecting.
Try cleaning your charger as well.
Edit: If you have a mobile service point near you, you could try going there with it æ. Worst case you'd have to pay for them to fix it. But it would be faster
May be the problem in the usb cable it self, have u encountered any problem while charging using pc usb?

The problem isn't with the charger, the phone is doing strange things when not connected to the charger.
For example, I'll turn the phone off. While the phone is off it constantly cycles between the "empty battery with a loading circle in the middle" that you get when the phone is checking the battery state after getting plugged in, and the battery's current level as though it were charging. This is when it's not plugged in.
uh oh... looks like I'm also having trouble turning the thing on!
I think there is some short circuit somewhere in the usb port hopefully not by a hardware defect, is ur device like this since u got it?, may be u sould sent it to Samsung center ,this is very strange indeed
↖(^▽^)↗ Sent from Rego Galaxy Note ↖(^▽^)↗
Last thing to try while ur device is off put some perfume on the usb port ,then use any soft brush a little air blow from hair dryer with no heat could help too, then switch on and try..

Like I said before, I'm getting these problems when the phone is unplugged, and they just started last night. I really hope I don't have to send this in, there aren't any Samsung repair centers in Japan so it'll probably end up being WEEKS before I get it back and I'll have to pay for shipping and everything.
Get a good closeup look
Get a high power loop and look at the USB connector on the phone close
up. It might have some crud shorting out the connection. Mine did, which
is why I wrote up this>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25102882&postcount=18
Might be worth a shot before sending it in.
That does sound exactly like the symptoms I'm experiencing. Only problem is, the Note's usb connector is really tiny. Any suggestions on how to clean it up? I was thinking dripping some alcohol on a toothbrush and trying to scrub it with that, but I really can't think of anything that would fit in the space other than toothbrush bristles and they're not all that stiff nor are they good at scrubbing... Also concerned what would happen if the alcohol were to bridge all the pins--any risk of damaging shorts?
Try a soft makeup brush or artists brush and some isopropyl alcohol/lens cleaner. You won't be likely to short anything if you clean with battery out, and give the alcohol time to evaporate.

Well I gave my usb port the scrubbing of a lifetime and still no help. It's constantly acting like its in charging mode. the battery reading is all wrong, and if I turn the thing off I spend like 2 hours trying to turn it back on because it keeps switching on and off to charging mode! Please, does anybody know what the hell is going on? If I have to take it in, I need to know where to go with my international unlocked note. This is absolute bull**** if the note is already having a hardware failure a mere two months after purchase!!!!
Man it's very sad to hear that, but i advice u to stop rubbing ur usb port, and start to search for a reliable mobile service center in ur area, there must be one somewhere i am sure, just do a search. Wish u good luck
↖(^▽^)↗ Sent from Rego Galaxy Note ↖(^▽^)↗
That's part of the problem... Here in Japan 99.999% of all cellphones are carrier-branded cellphones. You're not really supposed to have international unlocked cellphones, none of the major networks officially support them. I'm going to have one hell of a time finding a place that will agree to service my phone, let alone a reliable one.

My note has got thé same pb and just an advice to turn it on :
Plugin it and push the on button only when it shows the green battery
Otherwise Im looking for a final solution too
How long has yours been like this? I'm more concerned that this is a sign that my USB port is breaking and that if I ignore it I'll lose the ability to charge altogether.
Try taking out the battery and the sim card and leave it for 5-10 min. Then put it back in

Hi
Since yesterday, my note had this issue, but I saw dust attached, I had to look carefully cause I didn't see it before
What I have done:
Turn off my note and take my battery out,
Used a paper clip to take the dust out
I made it carefully too not to destroy the USB connector
And since the reboot, I don't have the problem anymore, I plug and unplug the power cord without any issue

Today my nexus 7 did the strangest thing; it was charging but the screen would not turn on. The screen was black, but it was on with small white static appearing every so often.
I could not reboot the tablet or anything it was dead for all concerned. I called Asus and they told me to send it in.( I tried holding power for 30 sec)
I packed it but decided to try it one more time( several hours later)' the battery was dead so I plugged it in expecting the same dead screen and static but instead it started charging... the tablet now seems to be working fine.
I guess the point of this post is to tell people to check there tablets after they let the battery die before they send it back for repair , it may have just crashed and not be broken. We may have to let it die since we can't remove our battery or have a reset button.

This happened to me yesterday. I didn't panic though, knew it would come back to life eventually. Glad it was the same case for you.
It happened to me when I tried to charge it and use it when it had 0% left. I just let it charge a little and it was fine.

remove the battery and check the USB port for contamination.. try blowing air or clean it gently with cloth (may be dipped in pure alcohol). let it dry. reinsert the battery and try again

Get a tight micro usb connector and connect and disconnect it to the note usb port. It should clean the port out. I had the same problem with my note.
I have tried 2 different micro usb connector but didn't help. I think there might be some problem in the internal circuit.

You can easily replace the charger board if you think that's the issue...its about 35 dollars and very easy to install

This problem happened to me about 3 days ago. My screen is constantly turning on, if i'm not charging it. And the icon is flapping between charging and not charging, even i have unplugged the cable.
I am using stock rom and saw a new firmware upgrade last night, did it, and look like it has resolved the problem (last night), however, happened again, this morning.
I want to know if this is a "battery" related problem or "hardware"?
hope someone can help
thanks guys

Does charging cut in and out when you wiggle the charger?
Does the issue happen when on battery alone? Screen flicker?

if the conditions cited by AndroidSlave occur then you just have to calibrate the battery with some complete charge cycle

I ve already advise a few guys on this , happening to lots of SGN now, (getting old lol) use a thin flat screw driver and gently lift the middle small plate at the charging port up (if u look closely its touching the bottom part of the port) then use small brush n alcohol n clean the port. Should take care of yr problem. Cheers

Actually, tried with a air blower, seem to be working. Will try the alchol, guess the SGN worked so hard during the week, it deserves a glass on the weekend. 8)

One more note, when this is happening, if i turned off the phone, i can't turn it back on until i plug it to a real charger in order to start up the phone

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE, could be able to charges, battery bar moving up like normals, but battery decrease and seems not storing even thought the battery bar is moving like normal, tested while off the phone, same cant store battery, try to clean the micro-usb with brush, still same, is that a mainboard problem ?tried search the forums, but no luck~ any help ??
So I got a white galaxy note 4 last week and the phone has been working extremely good, but the phone today started charging really slow, like 5 percent in 30 minutes that's just a definitely a problem. I have taken so good of my phone and of the charger, the charger isn't damaged neither the phone and I don't know why is it charging so slow. I remember I use to have this happening to my galaxy note 3 and some days it charged slow and some fast and now it charges fast but why does this happen? I haven't change any setting from the phone or anything and is stressing me out.
I have power saving mode but still that ain't had nothing to do with the slowness, has anyone had this problem? I also haven't done anything to the battery, so I have no clue what it can be.
Any help please?

If the phone is within the 14 day return period exchange it for a new one.

Restart your phone and check if it is still slow charging. Maybe you have some "heavy" apps running in the background.

Flip the polarity of the wall charger. (Plug it in the other way. It fits both ways.)
