Hi how can i root my galaxy s running 2.3.3 ive tried z4root and gingerbreak and they didnt work plz help

Those only work for Froyo. You need Chainfire's AKA CF-Root for Gingerbread and beyond...

Flash through odin one of the cf-root kernel and than flash galaxian for CWM

Or you can just use SuperOneClick 1.9.5 or higer (latest is 2.3.2 if I remember right). It roots every version of Android, from Eclair to Gingerbread.

Hello guys. I am using Galaxy S i9000. With Froyo 2.2. I9000XXJPK .
Please suggest best gingerbread rom and suggest me way to perform flash on my phone.. Awaiting your answers.. Long Live XDA .. Peace xd

Everyone has a different favourite rom. I liked a lot: SuperOsr then Cm7 and Miui Mintberry.

if you want Samsung Rom then i would suggest xxjvu. if you want custom then cm7. and ics try cm9 alpha builds..

Thankyou guys. Wanted to know when flashing XXJVU over XXJPK cause any problems or not? I.e. Bricking or failure in flashing?

I was fearing if flashing any 2.3 Rom on 2.2 Froyo will cause some problems?

i came from froyo to gingerbread stock with kies. After that i descovered custom rom and wow.before flashing i sugest stock gingerbread. After that root ( cf root) and after that any custom rom u choose

( .. Flashing from 2.2 to 2.3.6 will cause any problems? And flashing kernel is also necessary?

I didn't flash to 2.3.6 from froyo. I let kies to update from froyo to gingerbread (2.3.3 or 2.3.4 i belive). After that i flashed cf root from chainfire to have root and cmw.

Which is best kernel forJW4 ?

Please advice me as to which is the best kernel for JW4 gb rom. I am using Semaphore 2.7.4 sc and still find lots of lags and phone hanging. And also tweaked the cpu to Smartass.

I'm using the cf root one and it works brilliantly very stable smooth and fast you should check out mods on Apps and themes section look for various mods there so good

Try using devil/glitch kernel.

Semaphore 1.2.3s... stratosk implemented some parts of linaro with toolchain..... he owned it...amazingly fast kernel

There is only TEST version of 1.2.3 Semaphore Kernel.

U can use s vrrsion if u have f4k patch ....

I am also using RemICS rom 1.1
i flashed kernel script cleaner and then Semaphore 1.2.3 (without s)

i flashed 1.2.3 ....... its amazing
great game performance . great benchmark . really smouth
but i want to reflash it after the kernel cleaner script .(in case there's some mixed up stuff) . can you guys please give me a link to the kernel cleaning script ?

Sorry for my language.. i'm french : D
Yesterday i have flash c-rom mix v6 on my galaxy S i9000 and the defaut kernel is semaphore and i would like to install devil kernel or mackay.. i have try to flash this two kernel and i have the same problem.. at the boot i have com.android.phone has stopped.. i can't use my phone because this error appears immediately after click "ok". When i flash a semaphore kernel, the phone is working without error. Have you any solution ?

I don't think there is an official single Boot devil kernel yet which one did you try?

I successfully to install a devil kernel.. i have use this : Devil4.2_galaxysmtd_20130204.zip
