Hey guys I just got my new Raider LTE from bell yesterday, and decided to flash this rom "VJRaider ROM for HTC Raider/Vivid/Holiday"
I was just wondering if anyone else on the bell or any other network using this rom and the required kernel are having issues with connection speeds? I notice too that it jumps alot between 3g and hspa alot too, most I have gotten is 1.5 mbps on a speedtest.
Tested my Atrix and I got 14 mpbs same area and coverage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
I guess the first question would be did you flash through fastboot on PC or using a different method?
Which of cache/dalvik/data did you wipe prior to installing the ROM?
Did you make sure the APN info in the Raider is consistent with the Atrix?

The 3G/H flicker thing is a know bug, even stock ROM has it, the difference is that stock ROM only shows 4G icon for every type of network, no matter if you are on a 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ or 4G network, it will always show the 4G icon.
For the speed you can check your APNs, it must be a different one from the one you are using on your Atrix. Try to delete every APN and create new ones based on the Atrix ones.
Awesome thanks guys, I had flashed back to stock to try and fix it, I also changed the apn settings and it seemed to make no difference, Bell uses some hybrid network so that could possibly have had am effect. Flashing back to custom Rom now that I know its a known issue.
Cheers
You could also try changing MTU through ifconfig, but this could cause reliability issues. So far, I've only changed MTU on the 802.11 radio for this phone.

For quite some time now, my phone has been having some terrible 3G connectivity issues.
It just drops from HDSPA to UMTS and gives me no data for chunks of time. And every now and then, the entire 3G turns off(as if the APN has been switched).
This has been occurring with MIUI 2.2, MIUI 2.3, CM6 and CM7.
Im using 5.12.00.08 radio (latest i think). Im unsure what HBOOT I'm running, but the full baseband version is "32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08". So i think I'm running HBOOT 32 but im not sure. With the CM and MIUI roms the problem was occurring on stock kernels and monk's.
Any ideas on what could be causing the issues? If you would like me to send logcats i can(i haven't seen anything in there to indicate any issues)...
Also i found a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931728
Not sure if thats related.
Seemingly the problem started occouring after i was using alot with WiFi Tethering with Wireless Tether by Lemons and co.
I'm using Virgin Mobile AU as carrier.
Also, the problems occurs before installing ANY apps as well(and afterwards obviously).
32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08
mine is only 32.50.00.32U... IMO just try flashing a new radio, start with 5.08 instead of 5.12 and see if that works then if you are content then leave it... else flash 5.12 after and try to root out the problem...
cheers!
The default setting in nexus one is WCDMA preferred... i.e. it connects to 3G if available.
If the signal strength of the 3G network is lower than than 2G network,
it switches to 2G rather than connecting via 3G.
However, Its a known limitation that Nexus one 3G reception is comparatively less due to physical properties of the antenna.
Hello,
Prior to upgrading my (Rogers) Raider to ICS, I would have consistent "4G" service almost everywhere.
I installed the Bell Mobility RUU, added a Rogers APN and I'm in business. However, the service indicator stays on "3G" most of the time, but if I pick the phone up, I get "H" for about 10 seconds, then it reverts back to "3G". I've tried numerous APNs and none seem to make a difference.
Does anyone else have this problem? Better yet, anyone have a solution?
Thanks!
EDIT:
Through more research, I've found that the phone switches to H when using data and switches back to 3G when idle. While part of me likes that idea, does anyone know of a way to force the system to stay at H speed service unless it's not available? i.e. how every other phone I've ever had works
I have noticed this. I never even though about it. I switch back and forth from a Bell and Rogers cards all the time.

Rogers lies. Their rom probably shows 4G even when you are on 3g. Before I flashed the Bell RUU onto my phone (sim unlocked to Bell) it said 4G even though there is no LTE where I am. Once I had the bell rom it showed when I was on 3G and when I was on HSPA+. The phone switches to 3g when you aren't using data in order to save battery life. This is my third android phone and they all have done this. It most likely did with the Rogers rom but they altered it to show 4G anyways

I don't dispute that they lie but I like the speeds I got before I upgraded to ICS. When I had Rogers' "4G" I would get an average download speed of 5 to 6 Mbps. When I was near LTE that increased to about 40Mbps. Now with this 3G/H combo I have, my speed is capped at about 700Kbps download.
So far, no features of ICS are worth the reduction of speed...as it is quite noticeable. I don't even see an increase in battery life to help justify things.
Thanks for your insight! Now I just debate whether I wait it out and flash a Rogers ICS radio when it becomes available or revert back to GB...
svc518: I'm curious... when you go to About Phone, then Network, what does it say under "Mobile network type"?
if you figure out how to flash back to a GB RUU, please share. My Bell Raider is on the Bell ICS RUU and I was not able to flash back to Bell GB RUU (it checked the HBOOT version and said it wasn't right... I assume because I'm on the newer Bell ICS HBOOT). I dunno, maybe I'm missing something simple.

It was constantly changing, depending on whether or not data was being used. I don't remember what exactly they'd change between but one was UMTS.

I managed to get back to Rogers' GB then did the OTA update to ICS. My original problem is fixed: my phone stays on "4G" all the time and I get the download/upload speeds I used to.
Here is an overview of *as much as I can remember* of what ended up being successful for me. It was not simple (for me), took me a few tries, a few bootloops, lots of beer and a plethora of profanity. I won't be able to offer much assistance...so follow in my footsteps and appeal to Google if you get stuck:
Relock Bootloader --> Install Bell ICS Stock RUU (again) --> Unlock Bootloader --> S-OFF --> Install GB HBOOT from unlimited.io (their written directions are wrong for the Vivid...use the picture they have) --> Install Bell GB RUU
Make sure you find some set of instructions on a forum somewhere that seem to jive with those steps. In case of discrepancies, assume I am wrong. All these things change when you throw custom ROMs and Recoveries into the mix and I'm new at this. Google saved my ass, my engineering degree probably helped in the step by step research about what to do next...
My phone will not use 4G (HSPA+ or 3G) at my work indoors and favours 2G. My HTC Sensation could be made to use 3G by cycling the radio off/on - but this HTC One is not able to get any 3G plus. I assume this is not a ROM issue as it behaved exactly the same on the original US T-mobile ROM build. Just outside the building (and always at home) I get 4G (not LTE but T-mobile HSPA) speeds (slow here at around 4-6Mbps).
I know that settings can be changed to make the radio favour 3g/4G etc (even if a poor signal) but can anyone help here. I can sit the HTC One right next to the Sensation and the Sensation will show 3G with 1-2 bars and the One will show 4-5 bars with 2G! (and very poor data rates on the HTC One as you'd expect).
I am on a US T-Mobile model on 10.1 ROM with new radio (4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03.zip) - VERY impressed.

Hey Mate,
I was also facing same kind of wiered issue, I am on Developer edition and In India and initially Was not not able to connect to any 2G network. I tried everything from Custom ROM to STOCK ROM, Radio, SIM card change, orperator change etc.... but mothing worked. I was only able to connect to 3G networks.
Today finally I S-OFF'ed my ONE and after that it's connecting to 2G and 3G both networks. I think there is something related with security.
Try to S-OFF !!

Thanks - but I can get 3G and 2G signals now. It is just that the phone seems to significantly favour the stronger 2G (more stable) connection even though a low signal strength 3G connection can be achieved (as shown on my Sensation). I do not want to try S-off just yet as that should really only allow the changing of H-boot and radio firmware etc. I have never read anything that indicates that S-Off can improve a given (un-changed) radio. It is this method I want to try first - I am already on the .24 radio but that made no changes.
I do know that it is possible to access a hidden (HTC Engineer?) radio menu by typing a series of numbers and hash (#) symbols into the phone dialler - that reveals a menu in which (I believe) you can change the priority of network selection.
It could, of course, just be that the HTC sensation radio hardware is better than the HTC One - I hope not.
Regards
Hi, I have problems with my mobile data connection. It shows 3G or even H connection but it is very slow.I tested the speed with an app and I get max 192kilo bits per second with H and E connection.
I use on my I9001 SlimBean 4.2.2 build 7.8 with Kernel 3.0.89-K^Kernel JB4.2.2 OV UV 360.
I tried three different Basebands XXKQP, XXKP4 and XXKPM.
I'm in the US and my cell phone provider is simplemobile which uses the T-Mobile network.
I use theAPN settings which my cell phone provider suggests.
At the beginning I used my phone with the stock rom 2.3.6 and evything was fine.
After flashing to custom rom I got this issues.
Have anybody an idea how I can fix the problem?
maybe flash a different modem see if that helps
I thought base and is the modem driver? Are there More basebands then in the i9001 wiki page?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
Try XXKPO-Baseband. It works fine for me. If that doesn't help, your provider could also be the problem. Can you take the sim-card of a friend or family member who has an other provider than you and try if this solves your problem?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app
I tried XXKPO-Baseband but the fastest download was 120 kilo bits per second even with 3G.
The thing is, everything was fine before I flashed to the custom rom.
I will try a stock rom and will report if I fixed my issue.
Have you tested an other custom ROM, for example CM? Maybe it is a prob of SlimBean ==> have you written this problem in the development-thread?

Depending on your area, built up? middle of nowhere?
These are things you need to tell people
Try any of these 2 : ZSJPG or BUJP5
I use ZS as I stay in the UK and gives excellent battery as well as signal strength
Hope it helps
I tried also liquid smooth and a stock rom. But the data connection is still slow.
I tried a t-mobile prepaid card which uses the same network as simplemobile and I got 3500 kbits.
So called my provider three times but they could fix the problem.
The last guy told me that my phone won`t work with simple mobile. But it worked with 3G and H in the past ...
And every time I test my speed it has 120 kbits. Seems to me they throttled my speed.
Where can I get ZSJPG or BUJP5?
Maybe a stupid question:
Is your Internet data consumed and your Internet is because of this throttled...???
OK, before trying these modems are your APN settings set up correctly for your network provider?
LINK TO MODEMS HERE
OK, I called the support service line three times.
Yes, my APN settings are correct. My plan has 500 MB 4G then "only" 3G but "unlimited" what ever that means!
I think the best way is to change the provider ...
Or trying another modem first only AS a test...
The idea the others had...

Hi there,
I installed various roms, I currently have ARHD30. I currently only have 4g speeds on a Canadian provider, any ideas ?? my wife has the exact same phone and gets speeds upwards of 25mbps down and 20mbps up, but mine only gets 4mbps down and 2 mbps up on the same network, any ideas ?
Just a quick advice would be to check if it is enabled in data.
Sent From HTC ONE Android Revolution 30.0
if it isn't a setting that's causing problems, maybe try flashing the same radio that hers has, and copy her apn info?

What canadian carrier are you on ? Did LTE work before ? What carrier is your wife on ?
If you are on Bell, flash this radio. Should work fine on Telus as well.
Afterwards, try this :
In phone press *#*#4636#*#*, then go to Phone Information, scroll down and you'll see "Set preferred network type:" , select "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto".
Reboot phone
