Simplicity Rom vs. Darky Rom? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which rom is better? Performance wise and battery wise?
Any input is great, even on other roms.
Thanks

Darky is always better in my opinion...!
Its much stable , faster and of-course longer battery life..!

Darky's rom is always the way to go
Indeed, like the person has said above, it's fast, it's stable and the battery is quite good depending on what you do

is darky rom dark night rom

Darkyrom is indeed great. Everything works perfectly, it's fast, stable, and has great battery life.
Haven't tried Simplicity. I tried CM7 though, and felt that Darky's had better battery life and performance. This was about 4 months ago though, things might have changed a bit.

Can some1 post a quadrant benchmark result on darkyrom please?

A very nice ROM which is stable, good performance, with a nice theme. But there is no ICS at this time.

The highest benchmark I ever got with darky 10.4.2 was in the 2800's.

Nice bullsh1t scores, I got 3145 max on stock XXJVS

[Q] Best ROM for holiday use?

Hello guys! On sunday, my gf and I are going on a trip to UK and France. I'll be able to use my phone to taking pictures, sending SMS's, connect to Wi-Fi, posting to Tumblr/Facebook and listen to music, but will probably not be able to charge the phone every night. Therefore, I think I've to change ROM from Galnet MIUI to a custom stock ROM to get a longer lasting battery. MIUI is a fantastic ROM, but I can't get the battery to last longer than 18 - 24 hours with semi-heavy use.
So which ROM would you choose on a holiday trip, where you want to connect to internet a few times every day, taking pictures, you name it, without being able to charge every night? Or, is there any CM7/MIUI -kernels that is very battery efficient?
Would appreciate answers.
If you don't matter going back to Froyo just take Darky's 9.5. In my opinion best Froyo-ROM and even better than Darky 10.1.
But I probably wouldn't use CM7 on holiday, it just drains too much battery (but it is one of the best ROMs) for SGS...

Thank you for the answer.
I don't want to go back to Froyo, but how is Darky 10.1? Is it kind with the battery too?
I don't know, I tried 10.1 for only 2h, then I flashed CM7.
But for the things you'll need on holiday 9.5 would be perfect.

just my opinion if froyo is an option:
use the last froyo based ultimate rom (8.2) by webstar and combine it with the last froyo kernel by damian (1.3 beta 3 i believe) This kernel also allows uv which saves some battery as well
I've used this combination for quite some time and I am still amazed by battery life and stability!
Again, thank you for answering! I don't like to think about a downgrade, but I shall think about using either Darky's or Ultimate. But, let us say that these Froyo ROMs doesn't exists, which Gingerbread ROM have the best battery life?

Try a jvp rom
Insanity cm 014/glitch
well problem is... if you go for a sammy gb rom you will have to flash gb bootloaders, then flash back to froyo when/if you return to MUIU or CM7
Bujv9. Stock with damiens beta 7 i think is the best real world battery life. I tried jvp with gto and went back to bujv9. Just my opinion though...whatever works for you.

Juwe's smart edition, very good battery life
Thank you for replying! Juwe's ROM looks interesting, maybe that will be my holiday ROM. Will install it later.

I have tried CM7 before, it drained a lot battery on my phone. But I think any Rom will no-better than another battery from ebay.
Hey guys. I too am going on holiday next week.
I will be taking a lot of 720p videos and pictures.
Therefore, MIUI Galnet is not going to be the best rom for me to use.
Juwes rom as been mentioned in this thread. Can anyone else confirm that this is one of the best roms for excellent battery life, if not are there any others?
Yes, Juwe's ROM isn't bad - just try it.

when I'm going on holiday, I try not to replace the proper tools with the sgs. So for pics and video, I use a real photocamera... not the emergency microbic sensor normally mounted on smartphones, even our beloved sgs. Since you're planning to take videos and pics, you should also plan about the best way to take them!
cameras on smartphones... this should be matter for another thread really... as an example, I read here and there people worrying about focus bugs, but depth of field is a function of sensor size (size, not pixel count) and sgs sensor is SO small that DOF tend to be always infinite and the focus problem irrelevant.
My bottom line: don't waste juice and bring a real camera!
Cm7 and miui don,t Have fantastic battery life try jetpack it has very good battery life !

Darky's 10.2 is best for me giving more battery life and performance.... My suggestion is to use Darky'sROM they have good support also.

firmware, best battery and speed?

Simple question....
Which is the firmware with the best speed, more stable, and best battery saver...?
Im actually running CyanogenMod
i heared XXJVS is good
download it here
Another 'I'm looking for the best ROM'-thread...
Just try some ROMs and you'll find your favourite...
Base JVS works fine and battery lasts very long, but for performance and reactivity I'd suggest you to flash Simplicity, it has semaphore kernel with Voodoo sound, Voodoo color, Nexus S drivers (GPS and video)... etc

Running JVS at the moment with semaphore kernel 1.7.5 with Innovation v5.2 rom. No problems so far, good battery life. Some people are said to be having wifi problems but i haven't experienced it. All good so far

I'm very sorry, but there are a lot of threads like this - just read through them and you'll find a good ROM for you!
Try to flash cyanogen mod with neo kernel or stock jvt with seamphore ;-)

JVT is the best i would say, before i've been on JVR and then JVS and i would say in JVT there are some improvements in speed, but just a bit.
But compared to JVR/S i think battery life haven't really changed.

Which is best Note ROM. Darky 3.3 vs Chrack 13

Darky is amazing for someone who doesn't even have a Note. But now I'm on Chrack small v13 with Kalagas theme I don't know if life could be better.
What is best to you?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I went back to RocketRom v22 after trying Darky's . RR was smoother for me and also Darky's was using at one point 623 megs of my RAM even after i shut stuff down .
I know someone else mentioned it using an abundance of RAM but yeah it was chewing all mine up.
Have not tried the other ROM you mentioned but i may have to give it a whirl.
RR also gives me the best battery life which is something i got spoiled by as well.
I know everyone will have different results then myself but i am just posting my own experience so nothing against Darky etc .
Its a real tough one. Before darky released 3.3 i woulda gone with chrack. But the 3.3 release fully implementing franco kernel is simply magical! So so smooth at stock clock settings. Give it a try. Bare in mind that i had to reflash the kernel because it was lagging slightly but after that... Worked beautifully.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
I've installed both and keep Darky 3.3 in my Note now. The battery life is simply amazing.
darkyrom 3.3 with the franco kernel #2 that comes with it.
i have amazing smoothness, everything works, and today my battery life was at 71% after 9.5 hours of use.
thats a pure winner in my books

galaxy S best rom for me?

hello, what is the best rom for me?
i use a lot the mobile every day... sometimes it's ten of the morning and i have only 70% or 60% of the battery...(when i unpluged for charge at 8 or 9 of the morning!!!!)
my battery need's to be calibrate, how can i do that?(when is full charged the battery start's at 97%..., and sometimes when i change the sim card, one is with 40% of battery, and the next moment, the other with for example 25%)
i use a lot of 3G and wifi(since 15 february i have used 3.75gb at wifi, and 8.01gb at 3g)
sometimes i use the videocalls, and play some games
i need a rom stable with wifi..
i use some app's with connection to the internet(messenger for example)
i send and receive calls, sms's and mms
i need a rom with long life battery...
thanks
I am new to custom ROM and Planning to install Teamhacksung's ICS Build 16.
Currently on Ginger Bread Value Pack.
Please suggest.
I am using the JW1 ROM.
My battery has been calibrated and comes off the charger anywhere from 97% to 100% (varies day to day).
I can get close to two days of use with the battery with moderate use (internet, facebook, Seesmic, Google+).
On heavy use days I end the day at about 40% battery left.
Which one is better, Teamhacksung or WeUI?
I've used official rom, Darky Rom, MIUI Mintberry and use Dark Knight 3 (ICS 4.0.4) now. You can try MIUI Mintberry. It is very powerful about battery. But I'm not sure about wireless that spends energy so much everytime.
The best is always the one that meets your needs, I'm using WeUI and is fantastic.
Sorry my bad English.
not bad dark knight v3
Go for team icssgs RC 4.2 and flash the semaphore 0.9.1 kernel it's amazing

Installed Doc's Master V6. Superb ROM. Great Battery backup with Samsung Apps.
I have tried BLUE LIGHTNING- v1.1.1-BLACKeditioN see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489213
and also Dark Knight 3 (now 4) see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940 they are both good and stable for daily use.
My current favourite is Blue Lightning but this could change over the next few days!
It is down to personal preference but check out the comments on the relevant threads for best battery life etc. etc.
The fun is trying out the different roms and kernels......
GamerzRom v8!

Depends on your tastes. For pure unadulterated ics go with elites v9.1 for more tweaking options go with roms based on aokp or codrnameandroid. For slim versions you can't go wrong with krarvinds slim ics
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
For rock solid stability, compatibility with the fewest quirks as possible, i'd recommend MIUI Mintberry.
It's GB based and has been running SOLID for months on my phone. Battery lasts for the whole day with intense use. Lasts 2 or even 3 with minimum use.
Everything i ever tried, worked. No lags, no quirks no workarounds needed, it just works (gps doesn't but mine never did, isn't rom related)
No crap "it's for your own good" excuse for the battery drain when charged to 100 and still plugged as seen in samsung roms (that's what sets this one aside for me).
Beautiful sms interface with one of the best notifications/popups methods i've seen. Ever.
Launcher needs to be changed though, i really like Go Launcher Ex. MIUI's lacks organization.
Phone is as fast as it gets. And this is FAST! I've tried almost everything around (ICS even) and this one comes nothing short of the fastest roms around.
well i think the best rom for batterylife is froyo 2.2.1
or try darky 9.5 or ultimate
they are the best roms for battery and they r all froyo
I think the best ROM I've used for battery life is Simplicity 2.2.1v2, that thing lasted for a couple of days. That ROM is based on GB 2.3.6. I've also heard good things about Gamerz but I haven't tried it.
If you want an ICS ROM I'd recommend Slim ICS. I'm running it with the semaphore kernel at the moment and can get 2 days of use out of it usually.
I have Dark Knight 3 with Devil2 kernel running perfect on my phone
Video calls? Skype or 3G network calls?

Best kernel for a stock note on 4.0.4

Ive been looking for a while now. Just heard so many different opinions on the matter.
Im not going go custom rom just staying stock.
Help would be appriciated
Cheers

I've tried three so far and speedmod is my favorite as of now. Stable, fast, doesn't mess anything up.
Oh decent ill have a good read up about it cheers mate

or if you are planning to stay stock only and not do any experiments, Philz kernel is the best.
wont even change the kernel name in settings plus you are safe from emmc bug aswell.
personally, the older versions of HydraCore still was and is the best for me.. performance and battery management is at par with each other.
I love speed mod... get great performance and extreme battery life

speedmod has great feedback in terms of battery life and performance.
i love Notecore 14 with TW 4.0.4
