Hi guys, I'm running Darky 9.3 (don't know if that's relevant or not)
I've searched the forums (and the web) but couldn't find any mention of this. When I listen to music on my Galaxy S using headphones it sounds amazing, full stereo, really clear. When I use the external speaker its lovely and loud... but recently when listening to The Beatles I realised that it was only playing the left channel through the speaker (I assumed it would have been both left and right combined).
Now anybody who knows the early Beatles music and the massive stereo separation will realize this means I couldn't hear the drums/guitar/vocals depending on the track.
I tried the same song with headphones... perfect.
I tested this using both the stock Samsung music player and mSpot... the same with both.
Anybody else know about this?
Have to be honest this is just one of reasons i stoped useing custom roms as at some point i find issues i now use stock js8 its fast and reliable but i do wish you luck in finding answer

Or not properly inserted. No issues here.
The last two answers are just for fun or you guys don't understand english? He is talking about the sound through thephone's speaker!

Yeah i was just about to say... cable?
I only mentioned the Rom as I don't know if that's the cause or not. But yeah.. through headphones? music is fine... through external speaker? ...only left audio channel.
With most modern music you can get away with it to be honest as usually the vocals bass and drums are mixed to the centre... but with older stuff? you miss half the music!
rather annoying...
It is one channel. Voodoo sound fix can force mono which fixes it mate. Comes with 9.3

It is pretty much industry standard (and I don't just mean the mobile phone industry) that when representing Monoural audio, you use only the left channel! as mentioned, software mixers exist, but I would not be surprised if the stock rom did the same.

But I'm on Darky 9.3 and I have the problem... or are you saying the *problem* comes with 9.3?

hmm.... I'd have tested the stock rom if I'd realised about this in time. There's no way I can be bothered re flashing my phone... testing it... flashing it back and then going through all the hassle of setting up again. urgh. lol
I wonder if there's anybody who has a strong-stereo separation music track they can test who's on stock? is it two-channel mono? or just the left channel?
Thanks for the answers so far guys
Go into voodoo settings and choose force mono. I get 2ch audio

EDIT: Never mind I found it. Works great, thanks!
Just have to remember to turn it back to stereo when i put headphones in. But at least I can listen to The Beatles when I'm in the kitchen now on the built in speaker. Cheers!
mx video player could use hw decoder on other ICS rom but CM9 rom.

did u tried 720p patch
I'm having a similar problem too. Can someone pls tell me how to flash a "Kernel", as well as a download link for the 720p patch?
Seriously nobody helping?

IMO the problem is MX player, hardware works great on every single format in VLC for me and playing 720p no longer lags, which it did with MX. I'm on CM10.1 but was the same on previous versions.

Ok thats something to hear, but I tried Moboplayer and dice player and they all have the same results. Are you sure that vlc will handle it? Also what about 1080p? My gtp1000 can handle it on gingerbread. . .
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Why would you want to play back 1080p on an i9000?
Anyway i don't know, but I could test it later when I'm home if it's important.

Just tried 1080p on vlc on the p1000, no joy whatsoever. I read from another topic that I have to use another kernel, here's the website:
http://www.humberos.com.br/p/android-ics.html. You think this would work?

Yeah I just realized you're posting from a Galaxy Tab, and while we have much the same hardware you should take your question to the appropriate section...
When my phone was new, the Samsung stock player was perfectly able to play anything I threw at it, you don't seem to know much about flashing so I assume you're on a stock ROM, in which case you have the stock player. Use that?
Also, for viewing on your Tab anything more than 720p is completely useless.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yes that is true, it is completely useless. hmm anyways I just wanna know is there any app that could allow me to configure the white and black color density, just like in the stock Gingerbread?

I am using Galaxy S plus. When I'm lisening music or watching video and pull the notification the sound starts to lag. When I drag the notification bar all the way the sound isn't laggy anymore.I' m running Ginger Revenge Rom but I had these problems on some other roms too. This problem started few days ago.It seems like more u use the rom,the more laggy the soung will be and the rom itself. Is there any fix for this?

please try the MX player,it‘work good
VLC with hardware acceleration enabled in settings has given me the best performance when watching movies, for music I'd suggest Apollo or Google stock player...
I used MX player before but 720p vids lagged with it.
(I know our display isn't HD, but it still looks a lot better)

Please try mx player. It is the best then if you don't have any luck try flashing another kernel maybe it could help.
Regarding music I recommend using ubermusic simple and it does the work.
Hello eveyone,
I have a problem with music, and as the title says, it's being choppy, jittery and skipping...
But this happens only with new music, old music is playing perfectly fine.
I'm using Poweramp and tried playing the music in other players, but no help.
Music is stored in my external sd, I tried putting it in my internal, but it's the same.
Any advice or suggestion is appreciated, please help :\

True... maybe you downloaded wrong kb/s so the quality is bad or something?
I don't think thats the problem because i download clips from youtube and convert them myself on 192kb/s, the same I did with my old music :/

Try to change your rip settings; maybe your old music has different bit speed?
Maybe your old music has constant bit rate and your new variable bit rate?
Some of this info can be found using right-click and properties in windows.
Otherwise use the excellent mp3tag.
Reset your device once it will defiantly gonna solve your problem .. Hit thanks if i helped

I tried 192kb/s, 320 kb/s, changing the cbr to vbr, changing the file type to wma, and I don't think I had the option of choosing constant bit rate... I will try lower bit rate and give that program a try when i get home

Now that's what I call a strange bug. What ROM and kernel are you using (sorry if youve mentioned it before). Have you tried to raise the SD card reading speed? You can do it with Kowalski kernel app (if you're on it), or SD Booster, free at Play Store. Can't think of anything else.
