Missing screen unlock settings - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if this sounds bizarre, but I can't find my screen unlock settings under Location & security. I'm pretty sure it used to be there.
I can still use QuickPic to set my lockscreen image, but I want to use a live wallpaper as my lockscreen image, and I can't use QuickPic for that.
Cleared my cache and dalvik cache and the issue remains.

This seems really odd... Are you running a stock Firmwire ?

Yes, it's rooted stock LA4.

You set the background for the lockscreen under 'display'. Is that what you are after?

[Q] GRI40 screen off animation unchanged

Hey everyone, got a bit of a puzzler.
So I'm running an AOSP gingerbread build (2.3.1) and it has the crt screen off animation that we love.
However, I just updated my dad's nexus to the official 2.3.3 last night, and have noticed that it still has the old screen off animation, rather than the crt one. Any idea why this would be, or how to fix it?

Try flashing the update again? Maybe it didn't copy right...

Go to Settings > Display > Animations select "All Animations" and see if that works.
I checked that and it was set right. This device is unrooted, locked bootloader so I can't reflash the rom

make sure your Window and Transition animations are on normal speeds (check spare parts)

No spare parts in stock build
You CAN reflash the same update, just redo what you did before. Rename the update to update.zip again, place it in root, boot into recovery, and hit flash update.zip from the stock recovery.
I can confirm that this works on my locked, unrooted complete stock N1.
Yeah, check to see if he has installed Spare Parts (It may not be in the stock, but it's on the market) and make sure animation speeds are set to normal.
Turn your animations to none, then set them back to all.
Ah. I will try spare parts, and reflash if that doesn't work.

Ok, need some help! TW Launcher is FC looping!

Ok, I finally got myself into a corner that I can not find an easy way out of.
I wanted to try the 5 slot TW launcher available through SGS tools.
After installing it, it had no "phone" icon so I could not figure out a way to get to the dialer. So I went to the location were SGS Tools made a backup and clicked the .APK - it "installation failed" so I rebooted. Upon reboot all I get a a twlauncher force close loop.
is this recoverable, or am I flashing?
Thanks
delete the twlauncher.apk in system/apps.
Likely flashing, maybe try a factory reset in recovery, or if you can mount sd in recovery maybe push another launcher apk and boot.
But once again I think you are flashing
CM7
Try taking the tw launcher apk out of whatever rom you have first and copy it over to see if it fixes the issue first. If not, probably need to reflash.
Ok, let me make sure I got this:
Connect phone to PC
Use Droid Explorer to browse to system/apps
delete twlauncher.apk
reboot phone
Is that right?
I just need to make it through tomorrow with a usable phone!
Wanted to add, current set up is AT&T 2.2 ROM with SuperCurio's KB1+Voodoo kernel
Anyone have a link to a stock twlauncher.apk

I'm pretty sure he does. He said he downloaded twlauncher from sgstools. The other launch will automatically become the default.
Better check if you have 2 launchers in the folder. I think the one you downloaded from sgstools is TouchWiz30Launcher.

Yes, I can browse to it on my PC using Droid Explorer. In system/app it is called TouchWiz30Launcher. However, it must be R/O because I can not delete it. Is there a way to mount R/W using Droid Explorer?
There is another file called TouchWiz30Launcher in the sgstools folder...
Ok, I might have just caught a break. A "you have market updates" just popped up in my notification bar.
Should a DL and install Launcher Pro and Home Switcher?
Sounds like a good time to upgrade to Gingerbread launcher. I use it and I loved it. And sgs told you to make sure you had a back up launcher (like launcher pro) before you did that.
why not flash the older launcher again using CWM?

I am running launcher pro right now... even if I did have a backup launcher, I do not know how I would have gotten to it considering twlauncher was in a FC Loop...

simply go into settings, applications, then manage running application then search the launcher app currently running then select remove defaults after that click force stop the launcher it will bring you back to your default launcher. do not install yet another until you solve the force close. if you install many launchers in your phone force stop other launchers in your all application setting as it will cause battery drain, memory and incompatibility issue since you are running other launchers in the background even if you are not using them.
Ok, I'll try that out. I did not think I could get into settings in the state the phone was in. Good to know that the capacitive buttons should still work without a running launcher.

ETA: in setting/applications/manage applications/running twLauncher is not listed. It is not even listed under .../all ... ?

It should be there it's impossible to know you're running the app but is not present in running applications. Try to open the apps that has a word launcher in it and see if it is running with the option to clear defaults if it has that is the one you should force close.

[Solved] [Q] uckj3 2.3.5 non rooted loses wallpaper after reboot.....

I just installed UCKJ3 non rooted on my AT&T Cappy and I was wondering if this is a known issue, I set my wallpaper and if I reboot the phone it defaults back to the bubbles live wallpaper regardless of what or how I set it.
I used the stock odin package (with BL as I was coming from 2.2) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
before I did this I did a factory reset, cleared cashe etc. Not a big deal but quite annoying to say the least.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance and I hope this is in the right forum
Geeve
Maybe it should be in q and a forum, but anyway, is you're new wallpaperon your external sd card?
I had the same thing happen except the live wallpaper I had set was getting reverted to the stock one each reboot. I fixed it by moving the live wallpaper off the sd card.

i tried to flash a different firmware on my phone but still the same , icons become unresponsive after i set it up. i found out every time i put the animation to off thru developers settings my icons becomes unresponsive. i can only put it to .5x and everything is responsive.
Two observation found:
1. It is launcher specific problem, more specifically Sony launcher problem. As you said unresponsive when disable animations, and interesting it also happens to modded Xperia launcher too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2103403
2. It is responsive when you click on the upper left hand corner of the icon.
3. 3rd party launcher works fine with all animations off.
4. This situation only happens after booting with animations off. If you boot it with animation on and turn off without rebooting, it still works fine.
So I guess it should be a bug of the Sony launcher...

i guess so i hope in the next update it will be fix

lockscreen big problem!

i deleted some files from device and when i flashed another rom 4.1.2 no matter wich one, the lockscreen doesn't work... So i flashed stock rom with odin. The lockscreen is working, but when i flash another rom, sweet rom for example, the lockscreen is not working. Is anyone able to have a solution for this problem?

i will take it from the begining.
i flashed asylum 4.4.1 and i was getting the error low disk space. so in root browser i deleted some dirs... don't know wich one to free space. the phone freezed and i went to recovery, flashed sweet rom v11.1. after flash the phone started just as it was after a reboot. the setup wizard dind't start and when i locked the device from the power button the screen went off, but when i pressed the home button the lockscreen was missing. i tried to change the lock way to pin/code or any other option. so i tried to restart the phone, but when i pressed the power button for 2 seconds i didn't get the restrart/shut down/airplane/silent menu, instead the phone shut down directly. the same problem persists even in MIUI. on 4.4.1 i have the lockscreen, but it's not that friendly for me...
Ok, I had this problem one. You've deleted too many files. I can't remember which. Please tell me the directories, where You have deleted the files, maybe my memory comes back .
Sent from note, a phone like never before
Edit:
I've found those files (from my s2), the only problem is that I don't know where they belong.
Are those the files You have deleted (imei)?
