Hi guys as the title states, my phone speaker isn't working. I noticed that it stopped working after it had dropped from my bed. I've tried rebooting even flashing a different ROM altogether.
Thing is my bed is around 30cm or 1 feet from the floor. Could that really have caused this? Replacement is kind of out of the question since i bought this in Australia and I'm now in the Philippines.
Anyone else experience this? and sorry for my first post being a question
I've dropped mine from about 3 feet by accident on my balcony which is stone and mine rebooted properly also continues to work flawlessly, have you pulled your battery for a minute and put it back in?

Aren't you lucky this is the first time I've dropped it I've tried that too and sad to say still nothing. Ear speaker still has no sound. I think i have no choice but to replace the ear speaker myself.
Has anyone had to replace their ear speaker? I'm not very fond of opening and fiddling with my gadgets.

Hey Guys,
For the last few hours, the touchscreen of my Milestone is acting very erratically. When I turn the phone on, it works for a few seconds (sometimes minutes) and then suddenly stops working. And then when I turn off the screen and turn on again after a while, it again works for a while.
And when it stops working, sometimes it totally fails to register any tap, sometimes it has ghost touch and sometimes it registers a tap when I press very strongly. I have noticed that the problem mainly occurs in the right side of the screen. And the soft touch buttons at the bottom are affected as well.
Is my phone done? Pls help me. I really cannot afford to buy another phone at this time.. PLS help!!
Ok, since no one seems interested, I better post an update myself. I did some searching and found some info. One of the probable causes could be moisture getting into the digitiser. Although it didn't rain today, it was pretty hot and I sweated a lot, so it is possible that the sweat somehow got into it.
So heres the solution I am trying now. I pulled the battery, sim and MicroSd, opened the keyboard and put the whole thing in an airtight bag of PUFFED rice( they are much better dehumidifiers than uncooked rice). Lets see what happens after a few hours.. Wish me luck...
This is surely the problem dude... humidity to digitizer.
Happened to me too... what i did was pull everything off and applied cold hair drier for 5 min.
For me worked like a charm.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
Ok, so the phone was in the bag of puffed rice for the whole of the night. I put everything back and turned it on, and it seems to be working now. Thank God! Hope the problem doesn't resurface..
Hey there,
I'm having a similar problem with my Milestone.
Just wondered what puffed rice is and where do I get it from? Is there anything else I can use to moisturize my phone.
Thanks
Actually the easier way is to just buy the digitizer from ebay, and replace it yourself
Easier????
Be interested in what your definition of easier is Puffed rice is Rice Bubbles, a breakfast cereal. You can also just use plain rice, the idea is that it will create a dry environment and absorb any moisture. You can actually put the rice in the fridge as well, its actually a very dry environment as well. My daughter dropped a phone into a lake once, stayed in the water for about 10 minutes (was flashing strange lights and vibration from being shorted). Wasn't working when she showed it to me a day later, we put it in a bowl of rice in the fridge a day later, she thought I was slightly insane but it actually worked after that!
had the same issue too , screen was acting very strange...like taking the worng command or not calibrated,or like...someoneelse playing on the screen like a mad man...after cleaning the display problem not solved...thought was the digitizer but...voila...before ordering one, just thought about making a hard reset cause the software was actig quite slow lately and voila...problem solved...so...if it's not the moisture ...it's the software......or at least in my case ... make a backup on your sd card, and do a software reset..if after that still doesn't work, you know for sure u need a replacement part
I did was pull everything off, and applied heat (70ºC) heater for 4 hours.
I put everything back and turned it on, and it´s working ok!

I have the same issue, i will try using the rice/salt bag to dry it out, but i think my problem is the motherbord cable ribbon... anyone replaced it with success?
Hi guys, hoping someone can help me.
The title says it all really, but I'll describe exactly what happened. Last Friday my dearly cherished Note finally stopped charging completely, after kicking up a few issues for a week or so. I ordered a replacement USB strip and battery (I was getting screen flicker problems on low battery, and research said battery issue, so why not) and when they arrived I replaced the USB, charged the new battery and flashed an updated ROM.
The phone immediately started getting really hot up towards the top, where I'm led to believe the CPU is, but I assumed this was just because I was flashing then immediately restoring apps with TB, so I let it calm itself down and rest for a bit, and no more super heating.
At some point during this whole process by speaker went kaput, except it's not the speaker itself because I've just replaced that and still borked.
Can anyone suggest what it might be and how I might fix it? Thanks in advance!
Edit:
Also, I've tried the same build that I was using before the replacement, and other ROMs too
Is the sound on buds ok? Maybe just a ribbon connection if so

Headphones is fine. I'll try reseating the cable shortly. Really hope that's it. It's it possible to attach it wrong? If so I really should have checked that first!
Nope. Ribbon's seated fine. Maybe I've been sold a duff USB strip. Anyone got any other ideas apart from that?
I've no idea bud. My phone had the USB problem too. Did what you did and was ok. Like I said the only thing I saw when doing it is the ribbons. Check them all. Not just the one to the USB board. You may of knocked one and they are sensitive mothers...

Another issue, I think is related. My signal is a bit iffy. At home where my g/f has perfect connection with a crappy Alcatel (without even capacitive screen!), I get a VERY choppy connection. 3/4 in one place, 0 a couple of feet away. Am I right in thinking that the cable connected to the USB strip is something to do with the aerial?
I absolutely love this phone. Have had it with a screen protector since day 1 and then went to a tempered glass protector.
Everything was working okay with the phone and then one day I noticed that my headphone jack was giving me problems. I would constantly see it go from the regular headphone icon, to the headphone mic icon, and then to noting. If anything were to touch the plug, my phone would switch over to speaker and then back to headphones. This has been happening for a few weeks so then i tried to wiggle the chord around to maybe push in the metal springs a bit and low and behold it worked ... for maybe about 3 more days.
Around the same time I also started noticing that the knock on stopped working ...It would knock off no problem but knock on wouldn't work at all. Exactly the same as this guys issue ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VophfaYGjzc
I just restored my phone 2x and both issues are still occurring. LG customer service is a joke, they told me it could take up to 3 weeks to get my replacment in ... all they are doing is probably looking for a root so they could void my warrenty instead of shipping an RMA. They suck !!
Anybody experience anything similar for both issues ?
Hello guys, I own a XZ since the past year and after only two months of use my little kid dropped it on the water without closing all the flaps and bang, the phone instantly died and all the flaps got red. I took it to Sony and they refused to fix it because it was caused by bad use, in fact. I tried all the possibly ways to fix it,vaccum, no sucess, the phone was completely dead. I decided to leave it away and the phone as been in my closet since then, it was about nine months ago.
Yesterday after I found it in my closet I decided to try to turn it on once again and as expected it didn't worked (i left in the wall charger for about 16 hours before trying to turn on, no response).
So as a final try,I opened the phone backplate and whoah, the phone suddenly turned on. Someone here experienced something like this?
After turning on I noticed that the external speaker wasnt working (I dont really care, the phone revived, I should'nt ask for much) but... Someone as a tip for fixing this? Is the only thing not working on the phone.
Thanks!!!
Ps: phone backplate still opened, and the sound works if I plug a earphone

I think you know what the someone get when he drop his phone in the water right?
It's simply water damage.
TapaTalked from my Xperia™ Z (C660²) running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
Yeah bro, my phone got fully water damaged and it is now working, maybe the earphone work as well,by doing something
I managed to spill water on my (waterproof) phone this saturday, drunkenly, and just thought "meh, it's waterproof" and half-heartedly wiped off the water before going to sleep. so I woke up the next morning to a message saying "moisture detected in usb-port: turning off auto-detection", which I didn't see for a few days. no problems whatsoever for almost a week. then it started raining while I was listening to music, and my phone suddenly started displaying the same message over and over again, pausing my music every time, saying I had to manually enable auto-detection to use any USB-devices. now of course, the xz2 doesn't have an aux-port, so I need to use the usb-port to listen to music. ever since the rain, I haven't been able to listen to more than 1 minute of music without it cutting it off, and at times I can't even listen to one second of music before it shuts off.
There is no problem with the usb-port - everything works great - except that it somehow think there's still moist, thereby repeatedly cutting of my joy of listening to music.
I've looked and looked at the settings and can't find out how to manually enable auto-detection, so now I'm asking you guys... do you know what I have to tinker with to be able to turn off the auto-detection of moisture, instead of the other way around?
This might not help, but try turning the phone off and leave it in a bowl of uncooked rice for and hour or so...it's worked in the past for me with other phones.

Hey, thanks for the answer.
It hasn't really occured to me to try this, as my phone was dry for 5 days before the rain and has been dry for two days since the rain and the problem still persists. But I'll try it later tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Or those little packs of silica that come with electronics work well.
Turns out it was the USB-C to AUX cable that was faulty. Switched it out with a new one and the problem went away
I got splashed by a big wave on a catamaran at sea the otherday while the xz2c was in my pocket. Dried the phone. All is well, including charging, but get the enoying recurring automatic usb detection warning. Since than no usb connection is possible with the pc. So charging yes, usb-communication no. Should I give up on this "water proof" phone?

Water proof, but not saltwater proof
There is no durable saltwater protection for smartphones.
The salt makes corrosion and weakens the water protection isolation like acid.
I would clean the USB with normal water to wash out the salt crystals.
