[Q] Official Gingerbread ROM? - LG Optimus Black

Where can I get the latest Official Gingerbread ROM?

Either from B2C (LG Update Tool) or you grab the kdz (google for it, or search the forum) and use R&D tool plus workaround to flash it (see in my noob how to )

What about those? Can I istall them using ROM manager?
and whick version is the latest?
http://get.cm/?device=p970

Yeah you can, but they are buggy, but that's your own choice, read the CM discussion thread about it. The latest is the one on top

Cm buggy? Even Zeus rom has bugs... let the man choose for himself. For me cm is by far better than Zeus or other cooked rom. But that is just my point of view, test a lot of roms, then choose whatever you want.
Remember when flashing a new rom do data wipes and cache wipes.

what i would do in your case is go to the develpoment section and either flash a v20L official gingerbread update (kdz file, you will find an explanation thread how to flash it in there) or download an official froyo rom from original firmware section.
as far as i know you cant flash roms from PC, only basebands/ official updates and so. you need to flash roms through clockworkmod recovery.
concerning CM7 i use nightly builds. they are constantly updated with new stuff/ fixes etc, so its the very latest version of the rom. experimental mod is something you should not care about . and a stable build is basically a nightly that has been picked as a stable build.
cheers

don't use smartflash, it will format you entire data (sdcard internal). better use KDZ since it won't erase you data only system

Need Rom for i9001 plus...

hello,
wish all here a happy xmas. sorry for my bad english but i hope that i can explain my problem.
I cant find the right firmware in your list.
what i need is a brandingfree firmware. sorry but iam a noob
firmware is 2.3.5
Baseband I9001XXKPF (this what i cant find)
wed-sep-28/KST2011
csc- 9001/XEGKP2
you need more ?
and question is : which custom firmware are pos. ?
hope u can help me
lg marc
You should be able to flash any custom firmware, like Performance Edition RC2 or Cranium Rom. If you want just the stock unbranded firmware, you can flash last one on the list - 2.3.6 XXKPS. I don't know what language are you using on your phone, if it is not English, pay attention to that as well - you'll find all info in relevant threads.
@tomi555,
I flashed the regular 2.3.6 yesterday.with odin very simple and easy. like 10 minutes.
I need a custom firmware a mixed between speed and akku protection.
anybody an idea ??
lg gyver
Well I can recommend you try Performance Edition RC2, it is currenty in beta, you can wait a day or two for the final release. If you are going to install beta, be sure to change CPU governor to smartass v2. Final version will have that enabled by default. It is really fast with good battery life and no bugs (but you can have small issues with installation). You will really see a difference compared to stock rom
Or you can try Cranium rom, but I haven't tested it, seems it currently has a problem if you want to set mp3 as a ringtone. Other than that it seems to be great if you want to overclock your CPU. I don't have such needs so I'm not using it.
thx tomi
ok I have the rc4 now. but how I can update to rc6 or rc5 ?? Is it pos. to run rc6 on my i9001 ??
pls help
thx gyver
You mean Cranium RC6, of course it is possible, you can download the Odin one package from their website.

thx soooo much.
I used this thread to flash to rc4.
Installation:
Installation for RC6(comin' up)
*Recovery Package (Now,easy to install!)
1)Install FeaMod Recovery
2)boot into recovery mode
3)Flash Cranium Rom
4)dont wipe cache.............and fix permssions!
thats all for update up to rc6 ???
lg gyver
Yes, I believe that's the method if you downloaded
Cranium Rom RC6 (CWM Version)
You can flash it via Odin MultiDownloader from your computer just like the stock rom if you download
Cranium Rom RC6 (Odin Version by nikagl)
But... like I said I don't have that ROM so perhaps better double-check / ask in that thread
I dont know how I can install Feamod Recovery.
If I have it to flash with odin ?? where is the ariesve file ?
or can I use the same as to flash the rom ?
lg gyver
got it.
damn this is very cool. thx to the hole xda team.
@tom special thx to u

[Q] Custom ROMs

This is my fist post in the forum so please don't judge me too much
So , in order to install a custom rom on my OB he must be based on the same software version as the desired custom rom. For example the NOVA rom is based on V10c but my phone is on V10a so in order to install it I first need to flash my OB with V10c using SmartFlash for example. ( Of course the pone must be rooted, having the CWM...)
Is this the same case with the CM7 ( based on V20,which is a Gingerbread ROM build from scratch ) , can I try to install it even if my phone is running on Froyo 2.2.2. ?
It seems that the LG updated the B2C and the KDZU and R&DTT are not working. So for now there is no manual way to upgrade the software version from v10a to v20. We can only use SmartFlash to upgrade and downgrade but he needs the .bin and .fls files and not the V20N_00.kdz. In the list of all the available bin/fls ROMs there are no roms based on V20. (Sorry cant give the link as this is my first post). And there is no way to convert the .kdz into .bin and .fls files.
So the conclusion is that for the moment I can't upgrade from v10a to V20 if the version is not officially available in my country. And I can only install roms based on Froyo. Is this right ?
No, this is wrong ...
You can go from V10a for CM Rom without having to change the version of software, for example.
The software version you have, no matter anything with the rom that you will install, it is not necessary to have the same software version of ROM, since the rom replaces.
You can go from 2.2.2 (V10a/V10c/V10b, etc.) to a 2.3 ROM without problem.
greetings
Noobys thread might be of some help =)

houses a pretty concise number of topics (within the links and all) related to our ob
=)
Thank you ! I installed the Marvel v2.1.1 and its looking nice ! Much better than the crappy LG UI. I hope it will perform better as well.

If you're telling the truth then you really need to learn how to search properly. Next time, start with;-
[INDEX] The Optimus 4X/P880 Index - Guides, ROMs, MODs etc.!
I tried to download from: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15 but says access denied.
What versipn i should download? V20A?
I see this is kdz, not zip. It's ok to flash with this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134192
LE: i downloaded deodexed version beacause it's zip

1. Yes, you can use it as long as you want
2. Which rom are you using?
3. You need to run android 2.3.x at least, because you need CWM 5.x.x.x to flash the latest custom roms
Here a useful thread where you'll find llots of info (How to root, install CWM 5.0.2.6 Fixed, flash a stock rom via Odin...and lots of tips )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313363
can you please kindly tell me which rom has a bugless? coz i have tried reading some of the custom roms even outside the forum ., some roms has a bug like camera ,wifi etc. all i need is a custom rom which is based on a stock rom but have changes or tweaks like removed the useless apps. im running on GB 2.3.4 and i want it to upgrade it to higher version but a stock rom with a tweak, because nothing beats a stock rom i guess ^^
