To receive calls you have to forward calls to Google Chat in your Google Voice account. Have you done that step?
I have my GV account set to forward to google chat, I don't seem to be able to receive calls. I am signed out of chat on all devices. Any suggestions? I can make calls no problem, just can't receive.

Hello, I have a quick question but I did not know how to search for it in the forum as it will provide way too many search results, and I dont know if anyone has asked it before.
I basically have a plan that gives me free calling after 5pm, so is there anyway to let the phone automatically reject incoming calls, but not txts, before 5pm on weekdays, and accept all of them on weekends?
Help is greatly appreciated
not sure about the rules where you live but here
you never pay to recieve calls
only when you make them
so even if my balance is 0 and i can't send sms's or make calls
i can always recieve them

No , but there are comm managers that will let you manually switch off the phone during the day and switch it back on after five
You can configure to receive or reject calls using any of the comm managers out there....but you wont be able to feed in timelines to running those requests. Your best bet would be to set it and apply it manually when required.
I know I can turn off the phone (airplane mode) but I would like to just reject calls, but still be able to recieve and send SMS. As far as I know, if i turn off the radio, then I wont be able to send or recieve SMS either. I'm using Garmin's V8 LITE BTW.
I thank you for the help so far!
I'd use SPB phone suite. It has an option to reject all incoming calls only. Of course msgs and all other services are still active.

That's perfect! thank you very much
Still not getting why you'd want to reject incoming calls, as I've never seen a plan where you'd pay for those...
The free calls after 5pm applies to the calls YOU make, those you receive are always free. And the solution to that is watch the time before calling someone

In Canada, even if you accept the calls, it will take away from minutes that you have. it's ridiculous, I know. But I have unlimited incoming/outgoing calls after 5pm. So I have a voicemail set up, and I have unlimited txting package that i'll use until it becomes 5pm
thats crazy, iv never known people getting charged for receiveing calls unless they were international calls (ie between countries)!
Me either, first time I hear about such a thing! Wow sorry for you, you're being ripped off up there!!
Oh I know lol I was shocked when I came to Canada and heard this...so much for the Great White North
Anybody having this problem or have experienced it? If you have or know of a solution, could you help me out? Thanks.
All calls made to my GV goes straight to Voicemail. Not a single ring on the phone.
Oh, one weird thing is that I used to have my wife's number on GV as a secondary and weirdly all calls went to her number. I have since taken it off. could this be a clue?
I would try to look in your GV "settings. Check under "calls" tab and groups tab. Good luck
I bet 'do not disturb' is enabled
Yeah...checked all the settings...they all look good. 'Do Not Disturb' is unchecked. I did a bit of searching today...and it seems to be a GVoice bug.
WTF?!?! What the point of using it then? LOL.
go to google voice on pc and set your phone number to it.. it could be still set on your Wifes, also try to make call with it then try to call it and see if that will help out

Cool...I actually haven't made a call with it in a while...(maybe that's why...it's butt-hurt about me not using it to make calls?...LoL). My wife's number has been deleted off of it since I've been having this problem, but I'll try to make a call with it and see if that will make it work.
Thanks for the tips.
Okay. I had google voice for international calls only. I figured that it was for out going calls only. I guess that because of that setting the calls weren't getting through? I understood it as all calls would come through if my google voice number was called...hmmm...guess they should fix that
Has anyone tried sipgate.com for free voip service? Is it any good?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
It works perfectly for me for incoming calls. I don't use it for outgoing since that costs per-minute. But now when I am at home, my Google Voice number rings through to my Nexus S via my Sipgate number and I use none of my mobile minutes.
How do you have it set up? did you enter a phone number for it to ring to are or the sip settings on the phone are enough?
You set the ring-to device in the sipgate.com settings.

Using ring to device would still use your minutes unless you have free incoming I think
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Nope - incoming goes right over the voip link, not forwarded to your normal like with google voice. So no minutes are used. You could even pull the SIM and this would work as long as you have wifi.

Hmm when I had ring to device set up and Google voice did the confirmation call it charged me a minute from the free 60

I think it works great. You can have completely free calls anywhere in the USA by getting an sipgate number, set google voice to forward calls to sipgate. Setup a pbxes.org account which forwards incoming calls to sipsorcery and a sipsorcery account that will automate the making the phone connection for google voice to connect the call for you any seamlessly route your call back to you sipgate number.
I'll admit it's a pain in the butt to setup, but it will allow you to make and receive calls for free over data plan or wifi.
ipkall is another site you can use to get a free DID phone number (although it must be used with something like pbxes.org)
the only part i'm not sure of, is whether sipsorcery is still excepting new accounts.
yeah, i just checked. they periodically are accepting new accounts and post them here:
http://sipsorcery.wordpress.com/new-accounts/
Anyway, I don't really have the time to go over a step by step guide but there are many out there if people are interested.
I use Sipgate for incoming calls and sipdroid for outgoing. You just link it to your google voice account and free outgoing calls on Wifi too.
I just got this feature working.... wrote up a DETAILED "how to" on how place AND receive calls 100% FREE without having to use Sipdroid, but since I'm new here I can't post it yet. Rrrrrr...

Thanks for your help,
Well yeah I used GV before, it actually is my main number now, I knew that I had to DL voice and video plugin and forward calls to Gmail, but like you said the trick was to log out of all Gtalk clients, which is disturbing, If I want my phone to ring I can't use my Gtalk and if I use Gtalk my phone stops ringing, do you have any suggestions for that?
or do you have any alternative app in mind? I used GV with Gizmo5 before but since they shut Gizmo5 down this is the best app by far out there. I'm open to suggestions!
Got it, and it works pretty well. I have to run some more tests with it; my voice came through a bit choppy on the other end, but that was before I enabled the smoother calling features in the advanced settings. I have yet to play with it since then; I'll test and report back.

Solved echo prob. by using blue tooth ear peace. And incoming calls works well for me
yeah i founf a whole new respect fot the streak
It is preity sick, but mabe to big to carry in my pocket lol
i never find that to be a issue ,and i carry my ear piece for private calls but i like using the speaker it draws so much attention from low tech heads
I've found that it works great when I have it on speakerphone (after tweaking a few of the advanced settings), but it's very in and out when I'm using a wired headset. I also have experienced Pandora cutting in and out when plugged into a stereo. Could I have a bad headphone jack? Anyone else experiencing this?
Update: I'm working with the dev of the app. I get pretty decent audio in, but my audio out is horrible. My voice comes through very choppy and laggy, no matter what I do with the settings. Bluetooth is really bad, and it's not the bluetooth (tested it on my Droid and it runs great).
I'll let you all know hoe it turns out; the dev sent me another version of the app to try, which I ought to be able to try out tonight.
Anyone else having audio issue with theirs?
Ok, been using this for a couple days but only have outgoing calls. What do I need to do to make the S7 ring for incoming calls? All calls to my google voice number ring about 5 times then goes to voicemail.
Edited to add: I do get the voicemail notification after a minute.

Are you signed into Gmail anywhere else (or Gtalk)? That'll make it so it doesn't ring on GrooVe IP.
Duh, my G2 was signed in. Now I cant get my bluetooth to search for my headset. AURGH!

I'm pretty sure StreakDroid has known issues in the kernel that affect bluetooth. Try stock or stock rooted 2.2.2.
Thanks thatruth132!!!! This is awesome! i have my streak only on wifi and I am able to make/receive calls through Groove IP!
I am definately using this on my travels next week! Hopefully it works while I am traveling to be able to connect back to work and family.
Thanks again thatruth132!
I ported my main number to GV some time ago so I could forward my calls to any of my phones. On my personal cell I basically override the carrier assigned number by using GV for all calls and hangouts for text. Then came the HD calling update. I read the threads on fixing VM and followed the steps. I can receive calls on my GV # and they go to my GV VM when cleared or ignored, but when I try to make an outgoing call using GV it fails. It appears to be dialing some local number instead of the regular 800 # and i get a short message that the call failed and it hangs up. Anyone else having this issue or know a fix?
I was able to place a call using the Google Hangouts Dialer. I haven't used GV for awhile.

Problem is hangouts uses data to make calls. I stick w/ GV since it uses minutes and stays away from my data. I use hangouts for texts and video calls.
So i went back and tried again and i think it was an problem w/ the phone I was calling. I was calling my work cell phone to test which is also on my GV account (although currently not forwarding calls) and I got the error. Tried dialing to my wife and it seems to work fine. False alarm I guess, though not sure if I had this problem before testing to my other phone. Pretty sure I've used it before to test.
