Hi everyone,
My dad has a Galaxy Ace and is wanting to use flash on the web. The only solutions I can find need root/custom roms, and he wants to keep his phone stock...
I know this is a long shot, but are there any ways to get flash working on his phone while keeping it stock?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

One version you can install like normal app
I appreciate the help, but (unless I misread somewhere) I think you still need root for that as it needs a file to be copied with root explorer...
U dont need to root it
just install normally apk that guy above gave u
astro file manager doesnt need root and works just as well as root explorer now.
But the post says that I need to copy the lib folder and set its permissions, I thought you needed root to do this :S Are you saying I can just install the APK and the lib file is not needed?
Sorry if I'm being thick and overlooking the obvious ;-)
Dude just google " flash 10.2 for arm 11 devices xda developers.com" ..download 10.2 its pretty good..ohh wait i think u require to be on a custon rom 2b able to use it..but i think it should work in stock rom too...anyway you cant have your cake and eat it too...just root the phone or be flash-less XD XD

Excellent! That seems to be the answer, I'll try it out later...
I would flash a custom ROM and root personally, but it's my Dad's phone, and he's scared that I will break it if I do stuff like that, so he wants to keep it stock...
Ohh cum on dude...flashing roms is as easy as ABC ..(if u follow the instructions that is )..i m yet to come across anyone in this forum u follwed the instructions and screwed his phone..
P.S NEVER EVER mess with ROM MANAGER..that thing is dangerous

Yeah, that's what I told him... I've flashed many a ROM on my SGS without a single problem, but my Dad thinks I'll brick his phone!

okay im sure you guys saw that 1.6 is being pushed to all tmobile g1s in the next few days (i saw it on engadget.com) my question is im rooted with cyan 4.0.4 i think. (the latest stable) and i think i want to update to that so i can have the new market. will i be able to get the update and will i be able to still use overclock widget. thanks guys!!!
umm there are already 1.6 based roms in the dev section... i would look there, i am about to give akirah's build a go.
if you flash an official update to your phone then you will lose root.
If you flash any official ROM and try to run an app that requires root it won't work as intended (the app).
How's the ROM you mention david? I was considering it myself, I've been using this current ROM for almost a day now. Need a change

i found it to be really fast (like damn fast) but i love a lot of the features in 4.1.11.1 like the lockscreen among other things. i think it is between a jf rom and a cm rom. not completely vanilla but not rocky road either its a good rom overall, but i love my features.
i still have my .zip file for cyans 4.1.11.1 if anyone needs it!..i like it..

Is that the 1.6 mod that Cyanogen created? If so I would like it if you can send to my email [email protected]
I tried to find it when I saw it on friend's phone, but when I went to the site they removed :\
ny friend got lucky and bought the phone from a person that had it on there.
HAHAHA Cyanogen ROMs are like crack now.
whatcha need, whatcha need?
Hey man, you got some cyanogen?
You ain't a cop are ya?
Nah man, I just need some Cyanogen.
ok cool, here ya go, be careful bro that sh*t's fast.
* looks over both shoulders.
* whispers "dude that phone had cyanogen on it when you bought it?!?! That sh*t's illegal bro!"
Now that i have done the one click rooting to my phone"nexus one 2.2 Froyo with ""universal androot"" I was just wondering what would be the BEST rom to install on my phone. What advice would you give me with your experiences. what extra things do i need to consider putting on my phone. what would be a good security apps to hold intruders from getting in my phone..i have heard of overclocking but have no clue as to set it up and at what frequency...I would like to keep my hot-spot , perhaps increase the sound quality and have a 720 cap camera just to name a few.Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards
I've got Cyanogenmod 6 on mine and I've loving it. Fast, stable, and looks great!
cool.now my question to you is where do i get a safe link to download and what are the steps to do so..thanks for your feed back
Go to Development section and read. Each ROM has a thread containing instructions for installation.
I suggest Enomther's ROM.
hey!!!
I am so happy.I tried into recovery mode but I could not find the rom there.did not know if i had to rename it or....anyways ...i went into the rom manager that I had downloaded from there the whole thing was self explanatory.I did download the cyanogenmod 6 fist and then the kernel .wow this is amazing .I wish I had done that a long long time ago.My contribution to this great team is on the way ang in the near future!! thanks guys!!
Nice going! Where did u find universal androot?
so if i use this on my unrooted nexus one 2.2, i can get root access apps?
Im not interested in custom roms just want to uninstall apps like amazon and twitter and use apps like titanium backup.
Will i receive OTA updates? and you can un-root right?

How can I root 2.3.3 JVH without flashing a kernel using ODIN.I don't want any custom kerner or ROM,just pure root.
Thanks

hey mate i also want this just got an sgs. i also want to fix the vodoo laggfix is that possible? i just want pure root also.
Try this app SuperOneClick Root
Read the post vand try it. It worked for me in froyo. It seems to have GB support now.
Good Luck
You can't. If you don't want a custom kernel you're out of luck. Making your own rooted kernel is easy enough, there are instructions on this forum.

are u refering to the vodoo lag fix?
No way
So seems no way to do that, We had things like Z4Root but I can't see if that is updated or used anymore. There should be a way, just simply to root nothing else.
Anybody any ray of hope still, as in first post, I am looking for pure root without flashing anything?

Z4Root doesn't work on 2.3.3 anymore, you should really try to root using SuperOneClick or flash a custom kernel.
But why do you not want to flash a kernel? In the end it only impoves the phone

I'll try super one click. Thanks.
Well it's simple, I am more or less happy with stock kernel so don't want to flash anything. If SuperOneClick fails then I know I have to flash a kernel.
If I go for a kernel, which one should be the best in your opinion?
please reply here if superoneclick worked for you! thanks
I've never heard that GB could be rooted without flashing a kernel. Just use i.e. cf-root which is stock added with root

No I'm talking about taking the stock kernel, ripping it apart, adding you're own su, reassembling it, then flashing it. Best way to do it because you know exactly what you're getting.

Which CF-ROOT?
Guys,
I am not comfortable with super one click, I am looking for CF-ROOT but could figure out which one to use,
This is what I am running at the moment:
2.3.3 XWJVH XEN,baseband:XXJVO.
Can anybody point me to correct CF-ROOT version to use, I found one to root JVH but it's for NEE version and I doubt if that's correct.
I appreciate any help.Thank you. Any body from Nederland, experienced with CF-ROOT, please share.
Only way to root 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 is with cf-root. Super one click and all others don't work.

To be clear, the only way to root 2.3.3/4+ is to use a custom kernel. CF-Root (specifically) isn't necessary. As I said you can make your own rooted kernel easily enough. I'd recommend doing it this way so that you can learn how to root future roms yourself, breaking the dependency on having someone else do it.
According to instructions given how to root yourself, you need to have Linux kernel installed. What with us who are using Windows OS?
For Linux: Ubuntu is piece of cake to install and Cygwin is solid on windows.
Anyways: I rooted using CF-Root, it worked good. No super one click or etc. CF-Root is actually a stock kernel with root installed and some good tweaks so no worries.

Install VirtualBox, grab Ubuntu 11.04 from http://virtualboxes.org/images/ubuntu/.
Or install ubuntu "in windows" using the ubuntu wubi installer which comes on the live CD.
Or use cygwin.
Tried superoneclick. Doesnt' seem to work. The program just freeze or not responding.
Why not flash cfroot or speedmod with autoreboot unticked(cfroot will install automatically root but delete boot sound, speedmod will leave it be but root have to be installed in the recovery menu).
So,for speedmod:flash it autoreboot unticked, pull off battery when done, boot in recovery, install busybox and su in recovery, reboot into download and flash your stock kernel.(perka file stash site have a nice collection of stock kernels).

so my much beloved x10 mini pro died on me recently and ive taken to using my old m8800 at the moment. My lovely wife has told me she is getting me the galaxy mini for christmas (not too far away).
so just to fill you in im aware of how to root an android phone (superoneclick normally does the trick) and changed the rom on my mini pro several times. basically what im looking for is an opinion (advice if you will) on the best rom or roms for the galaxy mini. my intention is to change what will be the current stock 2.2 for something in a 2.3!!
any suggestions would be great as would any pitfalls to watch out for with what im sure will be a large amount of roms that are available.
many thanks
Jim
NOTE: SuperOneClick works only on 2.2. For 2.3 Upd_1.zip trick should work. You can find all custom ROMs in Development section of Mini. And I'm not sure which is the best ROM available. And as you are going for 2.3 you can find stock ROMs in sammobile.com
Good luck!
the galaxy mini i will be getting is running on android 2.2 so superonclick should be ok for the initial rooting of the phone, i understand that there may be a firmware upgrade to android 2.3.3 available through samsungs keis software but ill see what is around before i get the phone so i know what my choices are.
thanks for the response
No point in rooting froyo cuz ultimately u'll endup using cm7 most probably...so as soon as u get ur phone, update it to 2.3.4 via kies or Odin method...flash cwm and flash cm7.
Done deal.
Note: what I said here is not period.

You'll lose the root access (which is done in 2.2) when you upgrade to Android 2.3, just in case for info.

ROM Manager is not supported for Galaxy Mini. Those who had installed probably had screwed their phones. So stay away from it.

Yes, agreed with you. I think we need to manually override the installation of CLock Work Mod recovery to make Rom Manager Working after flashing latest CWM recovery manually using Odin.

Hello,
I want to install a new rom to my phone, but since I'm new I'm pretty confused about everything. First of all, I don't know which ROM to install, I know there are so many, so I picked this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060374
Next, I go to that site do download it, and I can't find my phone, only i9100. Is this also good or what? Do I need to install kernel also? I found this tutorial, should I follow it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7152078&postcount=5
I rooted my phone and used a nandrian backup for my files, so I just need to install a ROM and/or kernel but It's pretty hard since there is no ultra-beginner guide
Hi!
Which ROM you should install or not is a question for yourself...
My first ROM i`ve installed was Cyanogenmod 9 ...because it is the best known and installed rom and everywhere i read about it ...
So i made only good experience with this mod ...but another person would tell you ,that he user/installed slim bean and that`s the best for him ...
I think you should try some ROMS and find out what is the best for you, which is the best to handle for you ...
In CM (Cyanogenmod) there is an stock kernel included ...but you can install another kernel like semaphore etc...
Hmhh that`s curious that you don`t find your device ...because in your link there is a pic of a SGS1 ...so i think you should get Slim Bean also for SGS1...
No the verson of slim bean for i9100 won?t work on i9000 because of the other hardware ....
Hope i could help you a little bit!
