[ROM] Archos ICS Firmware 4.0.6(4.0.3) - ROOT Version - only for enabled SDE !

Hi all !
Rom => Archos ICS Firmware 4.0.6 - Root & Busybox - based on Stock Archos ICS Firmware 4.0.6 !
In this Rom original files have not been modified, only was added "su" , "Superuser.apk" & "busybox" !
All improvements to the original Firmware 4.0.6 , you can also find in this Root version .
This Root version works on all tablets gen9, is stable and can be used as a daily ROM !
These are the files you need to install Root Version :
- archos.ext4.update in archive archos.ext4.406.zip =>1° https://hotfile.com/dl/154875410/d03696b/archos.ext4.406.zip.html => 2° http://www.2shared.com/file/80i1MXqz/archosext4406.html
- zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo in archive archos.406.zip => 1° http://www.4shared.com/zip/VXFNNLpf/archos406.html => 2° http://depositfiles.com/files/3p7cqyeq6 => 3° https://rapidshare.com/files/3553644044/archos.406.zip
Installation :
- copy archos.ext4.update into Internal Storage ( /data/media ; /mnt/storage )
- reboot into SDE menu and under Developer Edition Menu , Flash Kernel and Initramfs : copy zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo on the new driver that appears on desktop/laptop ;
- ok ! and wait for reboot your devices : after reboot you can see Android update system for a while .....be patient !
In this Rom we do not have custom "bootanimation" , no extra apps added , anything else in addition to original !!!

waiting for upload to finish that was very quick work sir!

I'm not sure if I'll update, in "test firmware thread" it was reported that pdf reading still is a problem for the 4.0.6 firmware.
BTW- initramfs are quite universal- ICS init still can boot honeycomb (Multiboot init works fine, Letama's init+cwm works fine but I didn't test CWM yet)

hi surdu_petru it may be useful, even if 100% should be a pure case. I have always had less trouble (crashes, reboots) with your "light rom" than other rom (ics blue / rooted rom). On my hot g9 101 the most stable rom is your "ICS Firmware 4.0.5 - Overclock Edition". thank you

So just basically, there isn't any way to gat the multiboot to work with both [email protected] and Stock rooted FW with multiboot? I don't really know how to handle your .update files. I currently have Ubuntu and [email protected] v1 in /data/local and modified Multiboot Kernel & initramfs. Could you tell me how to get this Stock rooted with my other images? Thanks

I think ( I'm not sure ..) ...you need to rename archos.ext4.update -> archos.ext4 for work in multiboot , also you can ask @sirduke989 !

One thing I wonder about: After installing this updated all my homescreens where reset to factory settings (all homescreens clear, only a few standard apps on homescreen 3).
Every other time I installed one of your modified ROMs or any of the original ROMs my homescreens stayed as I set them up before.
Am I the only one this happened to?

You have + or - due, but to my knowledge, almost every rom on XDA have used elements developed by Ace of Android ! and made to personalize the Rom.
Power extended menu, Lidroid, Kernel, systemUI .....
Some elements are created by me and others of making dispositoon here and remodeled.
But if my rom should be in 'Themes' there should be much beings also, because they also used these elements.
For the wallpaper base it is true that I forget to add the apk Walppaper!
NB: I also put on the XDA element created by me for use as shared by others, and I also take advantage of this trade ..

Fair enough he's making an effort but this doesn't deserve a place in the dev section. It's a (ugly) theme simple as that with a few apps that anyone could install themselves. If anyone could knock this up in 10 minutes then why does it need it's own thread in the dev section?!

I have often tested the rom on XDA other compiler both on S2 S3, there are certainly better! but also the worst.
If you think this is a work of some hours you're dead wrong, I worked more than 10 days on this rom and if you can do better? shows us.
When style, has all their tastes and colors .. it is not required to test if you do not like!
Put other Lauchers this everybody can do it, then great .... This is an other style.
If for you it is not pretty, it's your opinion! but not a general opinion.
BUT if others feel that I have not my place in this section, I will delete my post.
NB: My last rom for Galaxy S2, downloaded over 400 times! if it was a bad job and ugly so why use a 400 times Pyrana rom? And my first rom S3 A5 downloaded 50 times (On 10 days!) But on Fomum French ..not on XDA

I managed to edit a version to fix some touchscreen issue !
This release is Rooted, deodexed and also has a new busybox installed !
This Rom should be work for all Archos G9 ....but you need activate SDE menu !
- Include :
root access
su binary the last updated to v3.1.1
Superuser the last update to v3.1.3
busybox installed & updated to v1.20.2
deodexed ( all on system/app/* & system/framework/* )
enabled init.d to run script
bootanimation
removed Launcher2 , ArchosUpdate & OnlineRegistration !
added some extra app
updated to the last version : Maps, Street, Music2, MarketPlay, Google+, YouTube, Gmail !
added GoLauncherHD !

Update 19/07/2012 ( fix adb -> PC ! )
archos.ext4.update -> in archive : source 1° deodex.407.zip ; source 2° deodex.407.zip
zImage & Initramfs -> in archive : source 1° Kernel_407.zip ; source 2° Kernel_407.zip .
- Install :
- copy archos.ext4.update to /mnt/storage/ , you can use this command > adb push archos.ext4.update /mnt/storage/
- go to SDE -> Developer Edition Menu ->( Remove Android Kernel if available ) -> Flash Kernel & Initramfs -> copy here zImage & initramfs.cpio.lzo -> OK! -> wait to reboot .....
- the first boot may be longer !
If bootanimation freezes on your first boot - please just reset device ( press & hold power button ~10sec.)

Thanks !...is just for this rom ! ( is original like in firmware 4.0.7..but is deodexed ) .
Tu put in your rom , please first use terminal emulator and :
> su
# rm /bin/sh
# ln -s /system/bin/sh /bin/sh
# exit
> exit
...now connect USB cable on PC and use > adb push Launcher2.apk system/app/

No. You can listen to music, take photos...
The only thing you can't do is acess your sd card. You can only do that in recovery, it isn't a big problem.

Installation
- Download the version of Pimp My Rom that corresponds to your device's screen resolution/ ACE have 320*480 means mdpi <----
- Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, just in case
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up
- Follow the on-screen instructions,(-select AOSP Gb/Hc 2.3.x 3.x.x) make your choices between all the different features to Pimp your Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy

Encountering installation issues ?
Do the following to fix most errors you might get on some devices :
Open the zip of the rom you are running with winrar or 7zip or whatever (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer" then close your rom's zip
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.5.3-by-Androguide.fr.zip)
Do not unzip it, inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted & renamed from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android). Simply drag and drop it into PmR's zip to add it.
Close the zip and flash it

i have do this, but, after finish, my ace boot with aroma installer again.. i don`t know how to do.. i have try many time to.. :crying:

Just qanted to ask when u compelete instaling d instal able zip choose save log and tell me if u got installer erorr status-0
Or no cz i always get it and after instaling i found there isnt any new tweaks or scripts in init.d
Also i didnt found any new instaled app
Cn u help me in dat ??

- Download the version of Pimp My Rom that corresponds to your device's screen resolution/ ACE have 320*480 means mdpi <----
- Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, just in case
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up
- Follow the on-screen instructions,(-select AOSP Gb/Hc 2.3.x 3.x.x) make your choices between all the different features to Pimp your Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy

i did not follow this step .installing PMR on my s5830i Acecream1.4 i think it works and i didnt get any errors upon the installation of PMR .
one thing , is it compatible with v6 supercharger ?
