I managed to edit a version to fix some touchscreen issue !
This release is Rooted, deodexed and also has a new busybox installed !
This Rom should be work for all Archos G9 ....but you need activate SDE menu !
- Include :
root access
su binary the last updated to v3.1.1
Superuser the last update to v3.1.3
busybox installed & updated to v1.20.2
deodexed ( all on system/app/* & system/framework/* )
enabled init.d to run script
bootanimation
removed Launcher2 , ArchosUpdate & OnlineRegistration !
added some extra app
updated to the last version : Maps, Street, Music2, MarketPlay, Google+, YouTube, Gmail !
added GoLauncherHD !

Update 19/07/2012 ( fix adb -> PC ! )
archos.ext4.update -> in archive : source 1° deodex.407.zip ; source 2° deodex.407.zip
zImage & Initramfs -> in archive : source 1° Kernel_407.zip ; source 2° Kernel_407.zip .
- Install :
- copy archos.ext4.update to /mnt/storage/ , you can use this command > adb push archos.ext4.update /mnt/storage/
- go to SDE -> Developer Edition Menu ->( Remove Android Kernel if available ) -> Flash Kernel & Initramfs -> copy here zImage & initramfs.cpio.lzo -> OK! -> wait to reboot .....
- the first boot may be longer !
If bootanimation freezes on your first boot - please just reset device ( press & hold power button ~10sec.)
Stock deodexed Launcher2.apk .
> adb push Launcher2.apk /system/app

Thanks !...is just for this rom ! ( is original like in firmware 4.0.7..but is deodexed ) .
Tu put in your rom , please first use terminal emulator and :
> su
# rm /bin/sh
# ln -s /system/bin/sh /bin/sh
# exit
> exit
...now connect USB cable on PC and use > adb push Launcher2.apk system/app/

I am pleased to present the latest firmware version 3.2.80 - rooted and installed busybox !
Is the latest original firmware update and includes , Su binary, Superuser.apk and unique busybox installed into /system/xbin/
These are the files you need :
- zImage and initramfs => http://www.4shared.com/zip/gd_SWiL7/drive.html ( are into drive archive ....drive.zip)
- archos.squashfs => http://www.4shared.com/zip/ieGffz7a/archos_squashfs.html

OK ! you don't understand ...."unique" refers to the fact that there is only one installed busybox into device and proper working !

I never included in the official version of things ( stuff ) related to custom rom.
Ok ! really, original firmware is modified but only to allow root into our devices !

You can follow the steps taken by master @letama in seeking a solution to rooted HDD version, unfortunately I do not know if he found a solution or not.
But if @gen_scheisskopf said that is not yet possible, then that it is !

HDD models have slightly different mountpoints (Media folder is not /data/media), problem is to find where initrd should look for archos.ext4/squashfs

I see. I think this was more of a translation difference: I read "unique" to mean "built specifically for this architecture" as opposed to "only one busybox can be installed." (Which I do understand. While this is my first Android device, I've been using Linux in the desktop and server environments for well over a decade now.) So the busybox you've included is the standard 1.9.3?

This is the original version ICS 4.0.4 (4.0.3) - untouched , with Root and Busybox !
For all those who want original ICS , but with root access , now they can download the root version .
Contains the original Archos ICS system, and added : Su, Superuser and Busybox .
These are the files you need to install root version :
- archos.ext4.update under archive ICS.update.zip => http://hotfile.com/dl/149252596/a4d2a34/ICS.update.zip.html
- zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo under archive drive.zip => http://hotfile.com/dl/149250435/75b0cdb/drive.zip.html

Installation :
- copy archos.ext4.update into Internal Storage ( /data/media ; /mnt/storage )

- ok ! and wait for reboot your devices : after reboot you can see Android update system for a while .....be patient !
You can not installed over your existing system ( Honeycomb) because initramfs changed ! First, must install the original ICS (firmware_archos_it4.aos) , and then you can install root version .
This Root version works on all tablets gen9, is stable and can be used as a daily ROM !
( For not to expect too much between the two download ....now you have the option to download drive.zip )

They're known to delete any file which is related to android. For example, any apk goes down within a week, whether is is paid or free

Well I tried it just now, and the screen stayed black for a minute or two right after i copied the files, then booted android, try again? do u see the green led on by the power button?

I just got the tablet so I installed SDE prior to trying this.
The green light stays on. I'll try a couple more times, but if you can think of anything, let me know please.

In this Rom original files have not been modified, only was added "su" , "Superuser.apk" & "busybox" !
All improvements to the original Firmware 4.0.6 , you can also find in this Root version .

I'm not sure if I'll update, in "test firmware thread" it was reported that pdf reading still is a problem for the 4.0.6 firmware.
BTW- initramfs are quite universal- ICS init still can boot honeycomb (Multiboot init works fine, Letama's init+cwm works fine but I didn't test CWM yet)

hi surdu_petru it may be useful, even if 100% should be a pure case. I have always had less trouble (crashes, reboots) with your "light rom" than other rom (ics blue / rooted rom). On my hot g9 101 the most stable rom is your "ICS Firmware 4.0.5 - Overclock Edition". thank you

One thing I wonder about: After installing this updated all my homescreens where reset to factory settings (all homescreens clear, only a few standard apps on homescreen 3).
Every other time I installed one of your modified ROMs or any of the original ROMs my homescreens stayed as I set them up before.
Am I the only one this happened to?

You can have root access over ADB shell.

- for all those who want to improve performance , you can use the same kernel ( zImage ) from this OP !
- also, make sure you copy all scripts from /init.d in this rom !

Thanks again for your work Surdu.
I'd like to try this firmware but wonder if it'll be an improvement over 407 at all, with all the issues i experienced with 4026.
At the moment i am using your deodexd/rooted 407 version; will it be easy to revert back to that if the problems i was having with 4026 have not been solved in this latest rom after all?

Overclok dont work with zImage , no boot blocked on splash screen . I try wipe dalvik no work , i try reset android and flash zImage oc , any blocked on splash screen , please surdru enable overclock on 4.0.28 zImage . The other zimage block my touchscren after standby .

Hi surdu_petru,
I don't know if it is a problem but i have a strange comportment when my tablet boot.
Usually when the tablet boots, you have a first static screen ' ARCHOS Entertainment" and after the boot animation.
With this rom, i have a black screen during the boot and the boot animation during a short time (less than 5s) just before to have the lockscreen.
If someone can tell me if he had the same comportment please ?

Yes black screen and boot logo archos 3 sec and loock screen lol new archos bug.
My touchscreen work perfectly with 4.0.28 , astalavista screen blocked after stand by and blocked screen in game .
i just flashed!
the flash has not wiped the previous configuration. my apps and data remains. in the info menu the rom version is 4.0.28.
i can't remeber if the previous update deleted settings or not. i flashed the pad so many times and my memories are a bit confused

Hi Surdu , with this rom I cannot use other keyboard just original. In settings I hawe choose swiftkey butt when I go writing its still original there.

OmniRom isn't pre-rooted. You need to flash supersu.

the problem is with the unlock screen. introduce the 4 numbers and nothing happens

PD. With CM13 not happen [emoji53]
So far, so good. The ROM runs smoothly. The only bummer is there is no OC. It's a kind of let down considering 5.1 had it. Props for Andi for bringing Omni 6.x to our good old devices!

Rom working correct,and I think more fast than CM13..I have a problem with chromium(?)...If i use chromium,device begins reboots...From the moment I tunr it off (chromium) rom working properly & the reboots stop... ( I use deltadroid base gapps ) Ty & sorry for english
@daitalos omni is using a prebuilt chromium, maybe you can try using one from playstore instead?

but for me chromium is a bad app ( 111 mb!! in Internal one app only ) in this low profile device Andi... I have deleted chromium ( after rooting my device ) and i have downloaded chrome ...(after any update i will do the same ) Lol...now all is Ok..
