Hello,
Yesterday my G1 froze and after restart it's was dead. The problem is I can't mount any SD card - I've tried 2 different (1GB Kingston and 512MB Sandisk), but they don't work (can't mount via recovery, error -110 via adb) and I don't have microSD adapter. Is there any way to flash custom rom using usb cable and fastboot?

I got an adapter, but still Linux couldn't see my sd card. Luckily, Windows recognised it and allowed me to format. Then I put necessary files on it, flashed ROM and brought G1 back to life. I don't know why, but Linux gparted still didn't see SD card, so I plugged it into my phone, connected via USB and then it appeared. After that I formatted my SD card again (fat32, ext2 and linux-swap). It works like a charm now.

I have a Transcend 8gb Class 6 microSDcard.
I turned the phone off to put the card in a card reader to reformat....i noticed that in Paragon Partition Manager 10 Server, that my sdcard is only showing as it being all a ext3 partition.
However windows vista can still read the fat32 partition and so can the g1....I am running JACHero's Roms...I have the new radio/spl and cyno's recovery. My g1 is working fine.
I just want to format the sdcard so i can put a updated JACHero rom on it.
Have you tried using Ubuntu? I find that better than paragon.
heres what i did...and it worked. i got the jailbrake cupcake and put my sd card in a usb sd reader and treated as if the droid was plugged by usb then put the original rom put the sd back in my droid alt s and boom it booted thank god cause i was about to spazz if i had to buy a new phone
Hi,
I'm trying to hack my G1
The problem is that the SD card is not recognized, I tryed to farmatting it with GParted ext2 with a card reader. Plugged into the phone: NOTHING
Then I plugged in the phone and connected with the usb cable trying to mounting it. Win XP recognize it, but it's impossible to read it. Then I tryed to format in FAT32 and copy the downgrade files.
After restarting G1 in bootloader with the files in the SD nothing happens, no image file found. What's the problem??
Any suggestion??!?
you have to format your sdcard to fat32 not ext2 for your device to recognize it in the bootloader after you formart your card to fat32 place your DREAIMG.nbh on it to downgrade
I did it,
but I get that message: "NO image found"
and then the bootloader screen.....why??
Not 100% of the time but...
Mine also had that issue, i had to reformat my sdcard but with NO partition, in other words your not creating a partition your formatting the whole card.
try that and put the files back on it once you have it formatted and proceed.
I tryed with only one partition FAT32 and the image file, with no luck
Tryed also with 3 differets sd card!! I'm really in pain guys!
ok, so i have a white G1 running CM 5.0.8-DS, Danger SPL, Amon Recovery, 8 GB SD class 6 with a 512 MB swap. my wireless card on my PC crapped out a couple hours ago, so i enabled USB tethering. I was just wondering if there was any way to mount the SD card to USB while in tether mode or do i have to turn USB tether off for that? thanks in advance,
-Buddha
I don't think you can mount it as a removable drive while USB tethered, but I THINK you may be able to access the SD card contents via the ADB interface. Try using Droid Explorer if you're not familiar with ADB.
Then again, I could be completely wrong.
I'll try that. one mroe thing, im a bit of a n00b 2 this forum and i cant for the life of me figure out where to modify my signature!?!?
i downloaded cyanogen 6.0 today, and flashed with clockworkmod recovery, but the sd card cant be detected (sd & 2nd sd), even i plugged in the usb cable, a removable disk comes out but not accessible. So i restore to my previous rom which is cyanogen 4.2.14.1 with nandroid, everything back to normal. I wonder what caused this. btw, im using the OEM 1GB sd card partitioned as 517 sd + 342 second sd + 96 swap
one more question is, when i do the backup with "ROM manager", it always eat up the sd card space and says no enough sd space, anyone using rom manager has the same issue ?

I don't think Android 4.2 supports exFAT yet.
If it doesn't support exFat then I don't know why HTC used that format after i erased my SDcard from the phone
