[Q] Indian Language not getting displayed - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Galaxy Note with Android Version 2.3.6 and Kernel version 2.6.35.7-N7000JPLA1-CL895432.
However under /system/fonts I have DroidIndia.ttf with a file size of 845908 dated 16 Jan 12 by default.
But in-spite of this Tamil and other Indian fonts are not getting displayed. Only squares are getting displayed.
How to enable the Indian fonts.
Your help to resolve this is highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It seems you have purchased from UAE
likely due to CSC setting, can you see india in CSC?
type this *#272*IMEI#
if you find inu option ,install it. keep in mind you will lose your data.
other way,
Flash with indian ROM.

Thanks for the immediate reply.
Yes I live in UAE and updated my Note yesterday through kies. Before that I had rooted my Note and was able to view Tamil.
I do not see India in CSC.
Now I have downloaded N7000DDLA5_N7000ODDLA1_INU ROM. Can I flash my note with this and will it continue to work fine in UAE.
If so how to flash it. I have gone through your post of flashing the ROM, but is a bit confused. Also in your thread it is mentioned that this ROM is non wipe. Does that mean my data will not be lost.
Expecting a reply from you at the earliest.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Unroot to update? Galaxy Note

Hi Friends,
I see that the ICS Update will arrive sometime between may/june. i have a rooted Galaxy note using this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
i just wonder when the time comes do i have to unroot to update or can i just update.. im new at this android world so i would appreciate any help i can get, thanks
Dont worry, sure you will get update to ICS
But how you have to update this can mentioned only after release of ICS, And yes it take few hrs to know just after release of ICS, you need is to just stay tuned here.
Just remember i said above in term of keeping your root intact. If you dont want to keep root, just you can flash Stock ROM of your country anytime, N just update ICS over Kies whenever it release over Kies.
Hi,
I have similar question. Previously I had a KK5 rom before I gave my note to Samsung in warranty for screen replacement. They flashed XLA4 rom and CSC is also changed now to JPLA1. Now KIES says it cannot upgrade my ROM. My question is: is it still possible to receive OTA updates (including ICS when it is available). Please note that my phone is not rooted. Thanks in advance.
To get update with Kies/OTA
your device should have installed ROM from your region, as well CSC should also be same as your region
Check CSC with *#272*IMEI#
Remember, changing CSC will wipe off data.
Sorry to bother you again. using *#272*IMEI# shows JED (which is correct for Saudi Arabia). There are other options to choose from e.g. KSA (which I think is also for Saudi Arabia but I don't know). Do you think changing will solve the problem? And is there any other danger (other than wiping the data) with changing the CSC? Thanks again.
Nothing more thn data wipe happen after changing csc.
Your installed rom shud b same for your region as csc.
If your rom is older for region, kies will show msg, you have update. If your rom is latest for this region, kies will msg you have latest firmware.
In other condition kies won't recognise your rom n won't allow to update.

Sure, when updating to stock you will lose the root, so you dont need to worry about that...You can look around and there are ways to flashing to next version if you want to mantain the root, tools like mobile odin can help you with that..... but i do recommend you to take a look arround the forum, you like me probably end up using custom roms
Regards

[Q] Font problem on Galaxy Note[Solved]

Hi all,
how can i read non english language on my note?ita a regional indian language, but appearing all as blocks as shown in screen shot.on widgets and browser too.my note isnt rooted.
btw,i can read the same language without any problem on my ipad browser.
any ideas friends?
The issue is likely the fact that most Android-phones only ship with a very limited set of fonts, like e.g. the ones sold here in Europe do not ship with fonts for non-European countries.
http://chetangole.com/blog/2011/08/enabling-installing-hindi-marathi-unicode-fonts-on-android-mobile/ might help you, but you need be rooted. If you do not wish to root your phone then I do not know of anything you can do.
Change your CSC to india
*#272*IMEI# will show your current CSC.
If india (INU) not available on option, flash multi CSC.
I have used Europe/Germany ROM,In fact at presently I m on LC1 germany, and still i can read indian language support, as I have changed my CSC INU
Note : Changing / Flashing CSC will wipe off data, so make backup before it.

Its XSG now...and INU is not there ketan...lemme try...
Sent you PM link for multi CSC
Extract that file, N flash with PC Odin
Remember, Not to select 'Re-Partition'
And you have to select field CSC (Not PDA), And as i said you earlier, that will wipe off your data.

[Q] (help) understanding csc and changing csc

goodday xda!
I bought my phone online and turns out my csc is aut which is from switzerland. Now updates for this csc is very delayed. Its been almost a month since its jb release and still no word. I have no problems with waiting for their official release. But since im from the philippines, i was wondering if i can change my csc to here so that i can get updates from my country (jb has been released here already).
Ive tried changing my csc with the imei method in the dialer but there arent any csc listed there only AUTwhich is the default. Will factory resetting my phone enable me to change csc? I am currently running 4.0.4
Im all for rooting it but since my warranty expires in a month or so, i wish to find some way to update without the need to root yet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the information, it gets a bit overwhelming to study up on all these. With the method you suggested, does that mean I should root my phone? Sorry for the questions, really dont know where to start since all the information keeps piling up.
Thanks

Hello everyone. I'm new to here. I have a problem in my galaxy S advance (I9070) First days I purchased it, it asked for System Update settings in Notification area. so I was selected the country as UK by mistake. So now I'm going to update it to JB, and the Kies software shows me a updates for UK, (XXLQE update) but i'm in a Asian country, I think that update for European country. If I update this, will it be compatible to my country ? is these europian updates can be used in asian countries ??. You can use other region firmwares with no problem. Currently maybe the indian ddulp8 is the best without root imo. Yes, it is true but not on all device and I don't know why.
Hope this helps.
