Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

Thank you for the Tutorial - it worked for me until I wanted to install a Update of a purchased App:
they are all shown in My downloads & Market tells me that there is a Update available. When I click update it shows me the Buy button & the Price of the app?!
What can I do now? Any ideas?
hi there....i did not found anything about...so i want to ask:
does anyone know how to disconnect apps from market. i do not want a launcher update or a gmaps update...because of free memory problems.
want to keep gmaps 4.7 on the milestone....every version above sucks....
so if i could disconnect it...autoupdates an notifications could keeps its function
bye
greets from germany
great question, i would like to know the same thing too, I do not want to install the newest facebook updates, but the market keeps showing me updates available.
it´s more an annoyance than a problem, really - but if there IS a way to "fix" it, then I would like to know
If your device is rooted, use root explorer to pull the app's apk file from data/apps to a folder somewhere on your sd card. Then, uninstall the app, and sideload the apps you pulled out earlier. It will not have a connection to the market this way.

in other words: make a copy of apk, uninstall, mv backuped apk to old place?
unfortunately, that does not work. at least it does not ALWAYS work.
because that is exactly what I already did - I hated the new Facebook app, so I downloaded the old version 1.5.2 APK from our german Android forums, and sideloaded it - but it still shows up in the Market with the red "update" text beside it.
just found something, that seems to work.
go to market, cklick update, abort download, --> disconnect
worked for me 2 times now. but i use froyo with old market...do not know if it works for the new ones.
Not move backup back into data/app, but install the apk from SD.

Titanium Backup can detach and reattach apps from the market. Do a long press on the app to get the menu with that option.
Hi there,
yesterday I had to manually update Adobe Flash for using it along Opera Browser since for stine reason it wasn't working with the stock Flash player included in the system.
Surprisingly Market was showing it as an update when I searched for it, but it wasn't notifying me for the update for some reason, and the same happens for SuperUser, when I search for it its shown like an update, but it isn't notified as one.
Its there any way to force Market to update the apps contained in /system?

1. Go to Market
2. Go to My Apps
3. Tick: allow autoamtic updates on the apk's you want.

That's the problem, apps like Adobe Flash or SuperUser aren't listed in the "My Apps" section of Market and until I do manually search for those apps I don't know if there are updates or not.

Have you tried titanium backup? I think market doctor from main menu may help.

Its possible, then apply advice from above post.
If still will not work, then you have to go to each app individually.
For example, whn you will manually go to superuser on market, you shall still see options 9if no update is available): Open, uninstalll, and below: allow automated updates.

If these apps are not listed in "My Apps" you have to install them one time manually from the android market than they will be there in "My Apps" and you will get the update notifications..
If you install apps from other sources and not via market, they wont get listed in "My Apps" and you wont get update-notifications..
LOL I'm the opposite of OP right now. All my apps that are waiting to be upgraded would be infected with Airpush spam if I decided to upgrade them in the market...

Samsung Captivate SGH-I897
Rooted with Odin
Android Version 2.3.7
Flashed Cyanogen 7.1.0
Kernel Version 2.6.35.12
gapps 2011 0828
After flashing ROM and installing google apps, I get "Server error, Retry" message when trying to connect to Android Market. Doesn't matter if I try connecting using 3g or wifi. When I connect to the Market using my computer, I see all my apps listed as "installed". When I choose to install a new app from the Market using my computer, it shows that it's being sent to my phone, but my phone never gets it. Anybody know what's going on?
Nothing Google is working. Typing a search in the google search box forces web browser to close. Reset phone and entered info for google account, but I get the same error message.
Try this:
Go to Settings>Application>Manage Apps>All
Then scroll down and look for the Market app. Press the app, force stop, then clear data. Do a normal reboot just to make sure. Then see if that fixed it.

Yeah, tried that a couple times. Did it again, just for fun, with same result. Am I using the wrong google apps pack? I'll try a couple different ones. Really want google to recognize my phone again. Currently, no syncing of gmail, calendar, contacts, app updates, etc.
ok. Quick update. Found info on Cyanogen forum that recommended Re-flashing Cyanogen 7.1.0 and re-installing google apps pak. After I did this, my phone asked me to sign in to google accounts, and immediately started downloading all my Market apps. I was excited until, my status bar said "error downloading xxxx" for each and every app it tried to restore. After the 47th app, it finally stopped and gave the error message: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
As it turns out, about 1/3 of my apps were restored properly. Not sure what to do about the rest.
Ah I'm sorry about that. I had the same problem before and all I did was clear data to fix it.
(For future reference, use titanium backup, downloadable from the market, to backup&restore your apps before flashing a new ROM. Make a copy of the Titanium Backup folder from your SD card and store it on your PC. That way, if you accidentally formatted your SD card, you'll always have a copy of the folder to restore your apps.)

Thanks. I did make a Titanium backup, but needed to install Titanium from the market in order to restore it. As it turns out, after rebooting the phone, the market app is working now, so I just decided to restore the apps I want manually. Currently, I am using my computer to look at my library of apps on the market, and clicking install to restore only the ones I really want. It's nice to see that all the ATT bloatware is available if needed, but it's not being forced on me.
Glad things worked out for you, eventually. Yes, that's a nice feature from AT&T. I don't like their apps it just takes up space. But if I need to sell my phone as stock its nice to have the AT&T apps back

Does anyone have any issues with certain apps from the play store that just crash when opened? Apps like IMDB, google Inbox, Google contacts just crash when they are opened. Why is that? I am running the google now launcher with typical root, play store setup etc.
yes I had an issue downloading facebook messenger app.. it crashed.. I downloaded it for Amazon store and it worked perfectly from there.. I am sadly using 5.1.1.. with Play Store installed via adb..
Inbox is a known problem, was mentioned on threads about installing the play store.
Google contacts works on mine though, though maybe I installed it through gapps.

Yes I used RootJunky's ADB zipfile.. and no I haven't faced an issue where I can't log into Play Store.. are you sure that you updated the play services? you can do that by installing any google app like youtube and run it and it will tell you to update play services.. and make sure you are running that latest version of Play Store which is 6.0.5 at the time I am posting this comment
Meh

Well thats the problem I am having, I can't update services because that runs through the Play store, and I can't log into the play store so I can't update. I am getting the message about the services being outdated but I can't do anything as it just redirects me to the failed play login. I have no idea what version of Play store this is, its just whatever was pushed via the zip file. I am going to do a factory reset and try again.
For the record, did you do this on 5.1.1. or did you do this on 5.0.1 and then update?

I updated via OTA to 5.1.1 then installed play store via adb.. I suggest that you uninstall all the four apps of google that the zip file installed which are Google Play Services.. Google Services Framework.. Google Accounts.. and Google Play Store.. then install them again via the same adb then reboot.. that's what I did actually.. I hope this will help..
Woooot

Someone in another thread told me to try the Amazon app store version of IMDb if I was using the stock rom. I tried it and it works perfectly. I did have to unistall the Google version before the Amazon one would install. It's worth a try with some of the other apps to see if it works for them too.
I'm running Fireos 5.01
Rooted with google play services installed.
I have removed all the bloat suggested and don't intend to use any amazon apps.
In any case, the two problems i have are slightly strange.
1. I can't seem to install any .apk that doesn't come from google play store (I have Dev options opened an unknown sources checked)
2 I Can't add any widgets to my Home screen, when i try the widgets just disappear.
None of these two problems are show stoppers for me and I have all the removed .apks uploaded to mega in case i find i need any of them.
Has anyone else seen this?

To get widgets to work, I had to make my launcher (Apex) a system app. I tried titanium backup first, but it seemed to have trouble doing it. I finally downloaded an app called /system/app mover from Google play store and it worked. I can add widgets now.
Thanks for the information s14sh3r.
Sorry for the late reply
However I already had Titanium backup installed so i thought i would try to see if i have the same problem with TB as you.. sure i did it hang then locked me out of the launcher a reboot brought it back.
So i headed over to the market and picked up system app mover and run that after installing busybox.
Funny thing was, it was already marked as a system app... errr I guess TB almost made it happen any idea's i do have another launcher available also i have a pro copy of Apex so would i need to make the pro key and the widgets app, a system app.
Update
I got it working by getting "system app mover" to move the app back to where is was, I rebooted then i made it a system app once again,
Rebooted and selected "Apex launcher" and Bingo!
I have access to widgets again
Thanks for your help s14sh3r.

Happy to hear you gt it working. One thing I've noticed is I seem to have to reboot more to get thinhs to work. Considering how cheap the tablet is, I can live with that
I have a problem with Instagram after I installed latest CyanogenMod rom.
From the Play store it's written: " Your device is not compatible with this version" (it's translated from italian, not really sure if it's 100% right ).
Before I rooted my device in order to install Cyano rom,I had the original firmware with Play store installed and Instagram was not only avaiable but worked smoothly.
Any idea of how to fix it?
BTW...I tried to get back to the original firmware following the related tutorial but there's no way to make the device "visible"to the pc via usb through the embedded recovery mode (quite strange because I can flash without problem TWRP recovery using adb tool by cmd line).
So...I'm in trouble even if I want to get back to the original firmware...any help will be (again) really welcome .
Thanks in advance.
Mostly the advice is the same sideload the app if play store won't let it install.
You can use this to go back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general/howto-install-fireos-5-1-1-root-gapps-t3265594
If you do go back to 5.0.1 in TWRP by renaming the 5.0.1 bin to end .zip remember to stay offline until you've turned OTA off unless you don't want TWRP any more.
Thanks a lot for your advice...I I'll try it later ?.
Well, finally I fixed it simply downloading the apps in .apk files into the device and installing them directly from it,easier than I thought .
Thanks a lot for helping me.
