Guys i am currently using teamsgs ics 3.1, but cause of new roms available i want to flash on a better one, which provides better stability, performance and battery life, which of the Roms is preferable, 4.0.4 Dark Knight 3 or Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) Milestone 4.
P.S. not looking for high customizability.Plz recommend
Dark knight. Very stable also.
But for customization aokp is preferable.

I think aokp is more stable
I've had Team ICSSGS's RC4.2 (with stock kernel) for some time now and so far it has proven to be very stable. No annoying crashes whatsoever or duplicate files, and all the features seem to be working (e.g. camera with 720p recording, Google Play store as well as other Google apps..). Perfect for everyday use.
I think it's CM9 b17
i'm on slim ics - i prefere slim roms... fast, stable so far

I suggest "Team ICSSGS's RC4.2" for battery life

akisa33 I suggest "Team ICSSGS's RC4.2" for battery life
+1
Currently running "Team ICSSGS's RC4.2" with Semaphore kernel 0.9.1 extreamly stable with no FC
Personally I would go for AOKP m4 with Devils Kernel, no battery drain, only had one FC (can't remember on what) been using AOKP since 27v1 (I know that isn't long, but has been intensive use).
Use NSTools to turn on Deep Idle, scheduler to 'vr' and governor to 'lulzactive'.
Personal preference but it makes it very smooth and very drain free
DarkKnight v3
ICSSGS 4.2
Have ~120 user apps installed, rarely some FC-s, but I can live with it.
Sometimes laggy or if I have an incoming call, sometimes it just shows the number, but not the name..so there are problems, but still usable.
For me the best and maybe one of the best I've tasted the [4.0.4] [ROM] AOSP NEXUS S/4g . The battery is excellent and my phone is fast.
Darknight v3
any one know solution to fix gameloft issues?

Hey,
at the moment im running nightlies latest version.
But im searching for something more stable, and maby faster.
Its hard to folow witch one is the best there are so many different once.
So Someone who tried most of em? With one is the best
Tnx allready!

Hi I'm using Gueste 2.1 (with SR1 kernel, Go Launcher and the ICS theme from the subforum). Overall it's a great ROM, the battery use graph says i'm using it for 4 days (2G, 45min wifi, 25min calls and some photos) with 1 charge . That's insane, i've only managed to get 1.5-2 days with stock. Speed is better than stock, but it is not buttery smooth in Settings menu. I'm waiting for Gueste 2.2 with the new kernel, developer says it will be smoother. Hope i helped!
Well, instead of running cm nightlies you could try CM7.2 kangs those are better than the nightlies and also more stable.

You people that have the option to turn 3g off are lucky my network forces it so if its switched off i lose network coverage, they only allow 2g switch if your not in a 3g zone which is rare so my battery gets eaten in a day.
i agree eith you. cm 7.2 is real stable, but sometimes i got bsod. its real smooth and fast. im not turning off my wifi. battery life is not so good.imho

Hello!
Define best rom!?!
It is last but not least a question of taste.
All the latest ROMs (CM7.2-RC0-KANGs, MIUI 12+, custom roms based on stock source V20m and up) seem to be pretty stable…
All have their pros and cons.
MIUI has a UI concept similar to iOS – if you like that – go for it…
CM7.2 has a more vanilla approach of gingerbread…
…or a stock source based rom (i.e. Gueste2x) with the look and feel of the original LG stuff, but with more speed and less bugs…
All these latest roms will do for everyday use.
I like CM7 most but that is just my cup of tea.
oke peaple tnx for your reactions !
hello, what is the best rom for me?
i use a lot the mobile every day... sometimes it's ten of the morning and i have only 70% or 60% of the battery...(when i unpluged for charge at 8 or 9 of the morning!!!!)
my battery need's to be calibrate, how can i do that?(when is full charged the battery start's at 97%..., and sometimes when i change the sim card, one is with 40% of battery, and the next moment, the other with for example 25%)
i use a lot of 3G and wifi(since 15 february i have used 3.75gb at wifi, and 8.01gb at 3g)
sometimes i use the videocalls, and play some games
i need a rom stable with wifi..
i use some app's with connection to the internet(messenger for example)
i send and receive calls, sms's and mms
i need a rom with long life battery...
thanks
I am new to custom ROM and Planning to install Teamhacksung's ICS Build 16.
Currently on Ginger Bread Value Pack.
Please suggest.
I am using the JW1 ROM.
My battery has been calibrated and comes off the charger anywhere from 97% to 100% (varies day to day).
I can get close to two days of use with the battery with moderate use (internet, facebook, Seesmic, Google+).
On heavy use days I end the day at about 40% battery left.
Which one is better, Teamhacksung or WeUI?
I've used official rom, Darky Rom, MIUI Mintberry and use Dark Knight 3 (ICS 4.0.4) now. You can try MIUI Mintberry. It is very powerful about battery. But I'm not sure about wireless that spends energy so much everytime.
The best is always the one that meets your needs, I'm using WeUI and is fantastic.
Sorry my bad English.
not bad dark knight v3
Go for team icssgs RC 4.2 and flash the semaphore 0.9.1 kernel it's amazing

I have tried BLUE LIGHTNING- v1.1.1-BLACKeditioN see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1489213
and also Dark Knight 3 (now 4) see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940 they are both good and stable for daily use.
My current favourite is Blue Lightning but this could change over the next few days!
It is down to personal preference but check out the comments on the relevant threads for best battery life etc. etc.
The fun is trying out the different roms and kernels......

Depends on your tastes. For pure unadulterated ics go with elites v9.1 for more tweaking options go with roms based on aokp or codrnameandroid. For slim versions you can't go wrong with krarvinds slim ics

For rock solid stability, compatibility with the fewest quirks as possible, i'd recommend MIUI Mintberry.
It's GB based and has been running SOLID for months on my phone. Battery lasts for the whole day with intense use. Lasts 2 or even 3 with minimum use.
Everything i ever tried, worked. No lags, no quirks no workarounds needed, it just works (gps doesn't but mine never did, isn't rom related)
No crap "it's for your own good" excuse for the battery drain when charged to 100 and still plugged as seen in samsung roms (that's what sets this one aside for me).
Beautiful sms interface with one of the best notifications/popups methods i've seen. Ever.
Launcher needs to be changed though, i really like Go Launcher Ex. MIUI's lacks organization.
Phone is as fast as it gets. And this is FAST! I've tried almost everything around (ICS even) and this one comes nothing short of the fastest roms around.
well i think the best rom for batterylife is froyo 2.2.1
or try darky 9.5 or ultimate
they are the best roms for battery and they r all froyo
I think the best ROM I've used for battery life is Simplicity 2.2.1v2, that thing lasted for a couple of days. That ROM is based on GB 2.3.6. I've also heard good things about Gamerz but I haven't tried it.
If you want an ICS ROM I'd recommend Slim ICS. I'm running it with the semaphore kernel at the moment and can get 2 days of use out of it usually.
I have Dark Knight 3 with Devil2 kernel running perfect on my phone
Video calls? Skype or 3G network calls?
Hi,
Which ROM do you prefer of ICSSGS and Dark Night, and why?
//Crille
Tried both, they run fast and smooth too but what made me stick with darknight was its great battery life and almost ZERO fc and less bugs than icssgs.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Currently I have tried Team ICSSGS, Team Hacksung & Dark Night. For some reason I always come back to Team ICSSGS.
While I would choose Dark Night over Team Hacksung I prefer Team ICSSGS over Dark Night.
Dark Night has a lot more features and more customisation but I personally found battery life and stability to be better on ICSSGS and with a couple of apps/mods I could have the features I liked about Dark Night. Even with these apps/mods running my battery life is better. It seemed that calls used up a lot more battery on Dark Night compared with ICSSGS. While I was on Dark Night I was a little more active on my phone so this could also account for battery.
Since ICSSGS 4.2 came out I have been using almost exclusively except for 4 days on Dark Night 3 and maybe a day on Team Hacksung. I have not tried Build 17 yet.
I think at this point you are going to get everyone giving you a different opinion. It only takes a minute to flash the ROM so I would just try them and decide for yourself. They are all almost as smooth and stable as one another.
For me probably the biggest performance difference has actually been the kernel and for that I have used Semaphore.
my favorite ROM is DarkNight v3!
Try this rom :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524108
, but when you only want to flash ICSSGS or Dark Knigh , then I would choose DarkKnightV3
Hi Guys,
I tried a lot of roms for the I9000. CM10, MiUI ... etc etc. I love both of them and i really appreciate the smoothness of JB.
However I have a big issue: Random Reboots !.
I constantly get these reboots (twice a day at least). Then I'm forced to unlock my pin and usally my battery indicator goes nuts like from 90% before to 6%..
It drives me mad, because most of the time I don't notice my phone rebooting in my pocket. This time I'm not reachable and my phone is useless to me.
Can someone recommend a more stable ROM ? Should i go back to Samsung Stock ? Oh my I hate lag and old Android OS.

Depends on what you prefer GB, MIUI, CM
I like GB and using Saurom v2, v3 is on the way soon as is really stable and can tweak it
Can't be helped. Even budget grade phones nowadays have duo core CPUs. If you want your phone to be completely smooth, you are stuck with GB. Ficeto Base Roms are pretty stable, but lag features that you would normally find in custom roms (it's called a base rom for a reason). Darky Roms are quite stable too, but it can lag heavily in 3D games during explosion scenes.
You don't have to use GB. I'm on SlimBean 3.1, it's stable, smooth and the performance is great. (Live OC 114, I/0 = Noop, Smooth UI)
Mackay 1.6.3 is fine in regard of smoothness and battery consumption. Try it out

Mackay 4.4 is one of the best i tryied!
;D
When I tried CM 10.0 & 10.1 (stables) the roms functioned oké, but terrible battery life with their own CM-kernel. That was fixed with both roms after changing the kernel to Semaphore which gave much more batterylife. (I never use FM, but with Semaphore manager among others FM can be switched on and radio worked on my SGS1 tested with Spirit FM).
However each time after trying new CM I tried latest stable Slim Bean (which has Semaphore-kernel included) and never looked back. For me Slim Bean blew CM totally out of the water concerning performance and batterylife. (Stability both good by the way). And very nice options in rom such as Real Dark Slim.
Now I am strongly concidering trying Mackay 4.4 (instead of SlimKat bèta). Not only because I want KitKat on my i9000. As it appears to function better with our low RAM. Especially the very alive community around it tickles my curiousity.
Anyone has experience with both Slim and Mackey? How does performance, stability and batterylife differ between them? And which of Mackey's function better? Omni- or CM-based?

I don't know with KK (yet) if also working, but CM-JB with Semaphore kernel instead of CM-kernel and Semaphore Manager one can switch on FM Radio and use Spirit FM. Most likely there is a thread for KK.

Even though best rom threads arent allowed on xda, ill post my reply: cm10.2.0- superfast, only slight lags while gaming, good battery life, no bugs that i can see.
just moved from cm11 with semaphore to cm11&mackay kernel. best descision ever. great battery live (8h of no big use/79% battery left) and pretty fast too - depends on mackay settings. :victory:
i am useing mackay rom 4.1.8 (from 04.01.14) and the phone is amazing, it was never as fast and good as now (android 4.2 and 4.3 were complet garbage for the sgs)
even though i will buy the xperia Z1 compact in a few weeks, i will keep the sgs for my workouts in the gym
i'm using Mackay CM9 and is working very good
My SGS has had almost all possible roms. After 3 years of changing roms. I've go back to almost Stock version of 2.3.6 XWJW8 with semaphore kernel 2.7.4. with smart launcher 2. It is fast enought.
And what is most important it works more than few days without update.
So i if you need stable phone I suggest to check this setup
You can't just say what's the best rom because every rom it's different just like the users and how they use their phone. But if you wanna know some quick facts here we go:
Stock GB has the best battery because it lacks feature and with a good kernel it can be pretty fast.
Now talking about custom roms :
ICS, in my opinion has better battery than JB or KK. Free ram is pretty high, second place, first is KK.More features than GB not so many as JB or KK
JellyBean : not much of a big fan but i can say that 4.1.2 was by far the best from all the versions. The battery and resources consumption was fair and has more features than the precedents.
KitKat is my favourite. The battery consumption it's ok and it has more free ram than any other android versions and the features are just great.
As for kernel i'm a big fan of Stratosk's Semaphore kernel. No matter what rom i use the kernel is the same.
If you wanna try custom KitKat rom you can try these ones(these are the only ones that i have tested like 2 to 4 weaks each)
SlimKat - Very very smooth just like all their custom roms.Nice features like TRDS, SlimPie and others. Ram usage is good but the battery is draining a little fast for me but this is just my case and maybe others have different experience.
Mackay's Kitkat - This is also a very nice kitkat rom.it's smooth it has good features but just like the one above, i don't like the battery and after some time it became a little laggy.
C-Rom - This is the last one which i'm using right now.I love this one.Ram usage is good , i like the battery( i can get over 19 hours) ,it has great features.Never felt my i9000 so smooth.
My test where done with 3g/wifi on all the time, more than 3 hours screen time, music for 2-3 hours, facebook, whatsapp and others(daily). Some of the apps are greenified and some frozen.
Hope this helps you !

Sounds interesting to try C-Rom then. SlimKat 3.0 Official runs good and smooth here, but indeed battery life (not idle/sleep, but) when using is wildly guessing at least about 33 percent less than my favorite JB before Slim Bean 4.3.1 last stable/official. Music/podcasts for instance at least two hours less battery time. And in every KK thread you read about bad battery life.
On a site note. My 'modern' Nexus 7 2013 with stock Android also performed better on JB than KK. A clean flash of factory rom and factory reset didn't help. For example battery life (active with screen on time and/or playing music/podcast) JB 4.3.1 was 12-13 hours. KK 4.4 had 8-9 and now KK 4.4.2 does 10-11 hours. The contrary of media srories about KK being better optimized and lower on resources and Ram. And I read a lot simular experiences around the net.
So I was considering on SGS1 going back to JB, but first try Mackay's ICS 2014. Perhaps I'll give C-rom first a chance. And perhaps if it arrives meanwhile newest SlimKat stable. When still battery life not as good as JB before, definitely ICS 2014 or Slim Bean again.

dear masters, im looking for a custom rom that works with the voodoo sound app from playstore.
ics, jb or kk will do.
im currently running on cm10.2-20130826-nightly-galaxysmtd build (first sgs phone i have), it says on my voodoo app that it has a built in voodoo sound but i cant really hear the improvement (weak volume) over my other sgs with gb 2.3.5. + voodoo sound app from playstore (another sgs i bought from an online store).
some of the forum i visited says there is a tab for the wolfson dac on the dsp manager but i have non on my sgs running a custom rom.
i also tried installing a semaphore kernel but no luck, my sgs says that
no need to load module
built in kernel voodoo sound: v.0
"device or kernel not suppported.... "
any recommendations?
