[Q] Nova HD plus getting very Unsatable, FC and Reboot - LG Optimus 2x

Guys, I m using nova HD RC7 form 4 days.
it worked well.
but today, its become very unstable.
auto reboot when i got call.
many apps like web browsers include stock are getting fc.
i did fix permission from rom manager and cwm

Are you using Ironkrnl or stock kernel? Ironkrnl gave me similar problems, so I'm back to stock now and those problems are gone.

Im using it since RC6-15.
And use the stock kernel.
No problems so far.

@Rohan,
Try using RC8-17....with the stock kernel...works well with a battery perf too....Iron Kernel....i had a few issues with the display going to full brightness while switching on the power button....
I am on stock kernel too....no issues for the least of 36hours...

[Q] Phone crashes randomly

Hi,
I recently updated from an old 2.2 rom to 2.3.4, (surface rom), and have noticed that occasionally the phone seems to crash for no apparent reason. It is however, not a reboot, as far as I can tell. phone locks up, within 5-10 seconds i'll see lock screen, (there's no boot animation or anything, or error message), with all previously running applications closed. Can't reproduce reliably, last occurred when I was just listening to music on it.
Any idea what sort of crash/problem this is, and what might be affecting it? (ie launcher, rom, kernel etc)
Running surface rom, semaphore kernel, zeam launcher, not OC'ing
Thanks for any help!
Mate i think surface is not too much good....i think u should go with Blockbuster rom....u just flash and you ll find difference....if u like enery efficent then dnt flash anyother kernel remain on stock....and if u likr Overclocked kernel then go with GalaixanGt or Semaphore 1.5.0.....then u see the really stable and energy efficent rom.

Hmm, so you think it's an issue with the rom?

I am having a few questions about ICS

1. What is the best ICS rom and kernel for O2X?
2. If I flash ICS on O2X, can I go back to temasek CM7 by just doing a cache and data wipe or do I have to change file system too or anything?

1. In my opinion owians build is the best. OAKP is pretty good too
2. Yes.

But kernel?

When doing a full data & cache wipe, that won't be a problem.
I mean, I can't use CM7 temasek voodoo kernel what I am using right now with CM9, right? I asked for a good kernel that is compatible with CM9

I prefer the nova-hd-roms. Owains Roms totally rock, too. Only advantage on the nova ones is the installer for lazy people like me. There you can choose between some predefined bb, kernel and so on.
I actually use nova 24-50 with the actual harsh-kernel (non-oc). It runs totally smooth and i have no reboots or signal-drops with my device. Battery usage is always pretty good (~17h with medium internet-usage and listening to music for about 1-2 hours per day. Wifi and BT deactivated).
I tottally reccomend the Nova Hd roms
And the newest harsh kernel, download it separately if the newest version isnt included in the Rom.
I have ultra smooth ui and 1.5 days battery, whatsapp on and typein, some browsing ect.
and you should use the get ril app in case you have ril issues.
CM7 kernels won't work on CM9. For what I've read, Harsh's kernel works quite nice with Owain's CM9 ROM.
Keep in mind, as others said, that in order to switch between CM7 and CM9 you need to do a full wipe (data/cache) as there are few things that might and will surely break if you try flashing CM9 over CM7 (and viceversa) without wiping. Do a nandroid backup before you attempt anything so you can restore your device if something goes wrong.
use rom manager or manually boot to cwm recovery to backup rom.
Can recover back quickly to temasek 7
There all rubbish.
I actually tried out Owain CM9 and did not like it very much. There were some hiccups, plus I got a message about gapps crashing every minute, but I still loved the look of it (the UI and everything) However, I believe ICS will be a beast if we get necessary drivers. I may also try out Nova HD later, this may be better.
Oh and btw what happens when I go to developer options in ICS and enable that force 2D acceleration option? It basically should not be possible to have HW acceleration on our devices without drivers right?

I had the problem too with the gapps crashing..
I flashed an older version of gApps hand now the problem is gone

When you try the new nova HD rom, make sure you install it WITHOUT gapps, just download and install the latest gapps manualy and you won't get the error message

I've been using Owain's builds lately, before this one was running Nova HD, but it all depends on what you want a cleaner install or one which already comes with some "extras". About the Kernel i'm using Harsh.

[Q] Phone reboots every time it sleeps

Hi, I have a Captivate running Jelly Bean 4.2.1 (Slim-4.2.1.Beta.1-OFFICIAL) on a Semaphore kernel. It works perfectly when it's plugged into a computer through USB. Otherwise, it reboots into recovery, every single time it goes into standby, even when it's on a charger. I've tried raising the CPU speed, uninstalling SetCPU, re flashing the ROM, and nothing helps.
Is this a hardware issue, app issues, or does it have to do with the ROM or kernel? I had CyanogenMod 10.0 with a devil kernel running on it previously, and it did the same thing.

Have made you many any changes/mods?
Also, did you try going back to stock KK4 and reflashing the rom you want to use?
If it's recurrent on 2 different Roms, then it's most likely something you restore or some mods. Hardware issue is possible if it does it on stock.

No, I haven't really made any changes. It wasn't doing it on stock a couple days ago, before I flashed the new ROMs. I installed an App (wakelock powermanager) that keeps the cpu running. That fixes the problem but it drains the battery way too fast.
I'm trying to figure out how would be the best way to go back to stock.
Thanks

The best way to go back to stock is the one I mentioned, Odin one click KK4 (in the dev section).

I9000 freezing randomly

Hello there, i have my galaxy s for two years now, i've been flashing almost every rom i found, from froyo to cm7/miui to cm9, 10, 10.1, all have been wonderful and i thank you all for this.
All the problems i ran into i solved reading through hundreeds of pages and thousands of posts without the need of asking questions, again because of this wonderfull comunity.
Cm10 is my favourite but i have a little problem with it, which appeared short after the last partition layout change. My phone is constantly and randomly freezing whenever i browse the internet (using only stock browser). By freezing i mean the image get's stuck and all buttons, exept for the capacitive which light up when i touch them. It only works to hold the power button for 8 sec for the phone to reboot. After the phone reeboots, the kernell splash screen appears il loads up then the screen hoes black, the kernell splash screen loads again then it continues normaly, it's like a double boot or something.
The problem appears only on cm10 and aokp (4.1.2), havent tried miui4.1.
I also tried stock cm10 kernel, semaphore, devil, mackay, not using oc, ov, uv, anithing special, only on ondemand and smartass v2 governators
I have to mention it happens with flash installed and also without flash, with and without big mem libraries and setting in kernel.
Some help please would pe aprecieted, because for me cm10 and derivates work best.
Thank you and sorry for my bad english

First off "double booting" is just because of init.d scripts you're using. Some kernel options of yours too.So that's not the problem. I'm just like you.To be honest,i WAS. I stopped using custom roms for 4 months... I'm tired,bored.... So ... Also i'm using my phone just for music,texting,calling... not games actually and stock rom with stock kernel i mean without any tweak ,it's enough for me
i'm still continuing flashing but only switching between gb roms currently i'm on JW9 (Released in Jan 14 2013 ). Custom roms always better in performance but i dont need performance... It's all about battery life and stock for me!

[Q] MIUI 2.3.30 on Nexus One...

Hey guys, I've been coming to XDA-Dev since I started getting Android devices. You guys have helped me hack my Kindle Fire to have ICS runing on it, my Nexus 7 running a custom ROM, my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 running a custom ROM and now my Nexus One is running a custom ROM.
Now I've tried all sorts of roms on my Nexus One. The stock rom doesn't cut it for me but I don't want to deal with the camera bugs with any form of ICS or JB rom that's running... I then came across MIUI. Never heard of it but took a chance. I LOVE IT. Problem is, it is constantly force closing apps. I have Blackrose installed, I have Mounts2SD running to my 8gb class 10 sd card (parition 1gb). And it's ok at first but within a couple of days it starts to have all sorts of problems. Pretty much everything has failed from Gapps to the mms service, it's locked up while taking images too.
Any ideas on what might be causing this problem? I've used ROM Manager to fix permissions as I read that it could be the problem. That fixed the gapps problem but I'm still getting the odd force close, sometimes where I have to remove the battery to get it to boot again. I've tried QND MIUI 2.3.30r4 and I've also tried the official 2.3.30 from the MIUI site but they both seem to have the same problems. I'm currently running the latter.
Thanks in advance!
A little late but....
If you are still using this phone you can check out my guide here...

Running flawlessly over a year and a half or so. I've made minor changes and adjustments which can be manually done.
