Hi Guys,
i have a problem with my touch/lockscreen. If my device is locked and i wake it up with the power button, i can't unlock it. I take the Ring and want to pull it up but it just wobble a short time. I cant pull it. The same with MIUI ROM (Used VirtousRom ago). I installed MIUI Rom and after this, the tiamat kernel, but no solution.
Sometime it works, sometime it doen't. I have to lock the screen and unlock lock the screen and unlock again. After some tries, it works. Don't know this really annoying problem.
Is it a hardware- or a softwareissue? anybody know this problem?
I get this issue some times. I just lock the screen and wake it up again and normally this solves the issue.

This problem started to annoying 3 weeks ago. In past i never got this problem, i don't know
Do you have Dev tools app on your phone? You can check screens touch by using Pointer location.
will try it !
How can i get this development tools? I found the google article with Android SDK. I installed the SDK and configuried my variable (path). The cmd found adb as a command.
adb devices found my htc mobile, too.
But there is no development.apk?
Don't set your off screen governor to conservative. It might help if u set it to interactive instead

Its included in cm7. There might be an alternative in the market.

Well here is another question sorry if it has already bein answered. Well the other day while surfing the internet at the bottom of my screen in a box it said "screen captured" I don't know how I did it but I did. Well it created a new photo of what I was viewing and a folder for it. So has anyone heard of this?

Are you rooted and do you have ShootMe? ShootMe has an option to use the accelerometer (by shaking) to take a screen shot. You don't need to shake it very hard. It also has options to use the proximity sensor and noise (yelling at the phone).
With 2.3.3, there will be a built in screen shot tool, but that isn't even a twinkle in our eye yet.
Nope I don't have any screen capture apps and I am running froyo 2.2 from att stock non rooted. It really has confused me..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Hrm.. never heard of that happening unless you have downloaded an application that will take screenshots.
I would double check what apps you have installed. Also... I know a lot of the custom ROM's are starting to "harden" their builds against spam/ads/spyware etc..
Possible you will want to update your hosts files to block the crud on the internet. Unfort I don't know if their is an app in the market that does this or if you would just have to move to a custom ROM.
Keep us posted.
Well after doing some research I found this...http://getandroidstuff.com/how-to-take-screenshot-with-samsung-galaxy-s-with-no-root/ now I can't get it to work on my phone but maybe it will work on others and when I went to my running services I had one called "screencaptureservice" I may just be pushing the wrong buttons though any ideas?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
Well.. this is a whole lot less scary.
The site states if your holding down the back button then press the home button it will take a screen cap.
I would just monitor how your using your phone and be careful when pressing your capacitive buttons. Could be it just recognized the command as you wanted to take a screen shot and you just fat-fingered it
Good info to have though - thanks for the tip.
***edit... btw I couldn't replicate this - but then I'm running a custom ROM. Anyone on stock 2.2 been able to repeat this?
Lol no problem hopefully it helps somebody though I still can't get it to work for me
Though I did just root my phone and I don't really need it seems iphoneish

Yes, many people are still complain the GPS can't lock(maybe can see satellites) or very slow.
After i saw KarlHegbloom's suggestion to use AngryGPS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15692063&postcount=6283
But in the beginning i don't know how to let it run, so study and study.....
finally i got it
step1: Download gpsd from trigger build12 in here (gpsd in cm7 or build13 are not stable, it hard to lock, i don't why, maybe birgertime can tell what's the differents)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15696219&postcount=6289
step2:
update 0718 :
s0niqu3 made install apk for angrygps, it's very easy way than mine, you can try it,and directly to step4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15721652&postcount=13
manual way(mine): download Angrygps.apk in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15695743&postcount=6288
Use root explore to replace gpsd in system\vendor\bin\
and put angrygps.apk in system\app and change permission
my setting (read check all, write only check first, execute no check), but someone say he need to check all. anyway you can try both.
Reboot, then angrygps, not angrybird is running.
if you are lucky, your gps become fantastic now.
if not. you should long click desktop(need ADW launch)
step3:Create custom shorcut-> chose your application -> Activities -> AngryGPS -> .AngryGPS
After this you will get a angrygps shortcut in desktop.
step4:
Run it and to config as your wish.
tip: I change setting-general setting-operation mode from standalone to msbased. and now i can lock in twenty seconds.
Please test GPS outdoor
BTW, in CM7 you can turn off gps and turn on, it's all ok.
Thanks atinm&birgertime&KarlHegbloom
Do you think having a custom kernel (Glitch's Kernel to be exact) changes anything?.
Im not getting locks
i didn't try this kernel. but if you can see satellites, then it should be ok

After rebooted, it doesnt see any am birds. Rebooted a couple more times, still not working. Will tweak the Angry GPS.

For Launcher Pro Users, you can add the shortcut to angrygps with:
long press home screen --> Shortcuts --> Activities --> AngryGps (pick the first one)
Also, when I first did this gps would not start for me. Nothing happened, no gps icon. I needed to change the permissions on gpsd to include execute and the reboot. Looking good now.
Also I am getting fast locks leaving it in standalone mode.
How does the GPS work (post-AngryGPS) with Google Maps/Navigation?

Seems just fine with maps.
I have not tested navigation.
Does this work with any MIUI builds?
Hey everyone,
So first, this mod seems to work quite well on my phone, admittedly I'm in shock at having locks in just a minute or so, and accuracy under ~10meters. I'll withold final judgment until I've used it for a couple of days.
In the meantime though, here's a modified version of AngryGPS.apk that will show up in your launcher drawer without the need of bettercut/adw/launcherpro/etc.
Its been re-signed by me, so the signature won't match the original version posted, so you must remove the original and clear all its data first.
If you installed it normally, just uninstall through manage applications, else if you pushed the app to /system/app then you need to do:
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
rm -r AngryGPS.apk
cd /
cd /data/data
rm -r com.android.angryGps
Anyway, thanks for the fix, and enjoy.
Cheers,
Whoa...fast.
16 feet accuracy inside.

Using GPS test I lock but all my satellites are reliatively weak still, looking at about 25snr when outdoors... BTW what is the difference between MSBased and Standalone for operation mode? That seems to make the biggest difference.
I am working on an application which will shut down my sons media player only captivate at a specific time. I have it working but am not particularly good at drawing or coming up with good ideas for an icon for it.
Does anybody have any ideas?
AutoShutdown.apk
FYI I built it for 2.2 but tested it on 2.3 (my captivate) and it requires root access (it essentially creates a service that at a specific time calls "reboot -p".
Update Info:
1.10 Changed to using an Alarm.
1.5 Moved the Save button to the bottom.
1.4 Revamped to use a Handler instead of a thread thus reducing the overhead because I am not checking the time every 45 seconds, I just delay the shutdown for however many milliseconds it would take to get to the requested time.
1.3 Fixed the not shutting down issue (at least under 2.3, I will test on 2.2 tonight). Added alpha channel to the icon.
1.2 Added simple icon
1.1 Added an Enabled checkbox. Setting the shown time to the last time entered. Fixed killing the old thread.
1.0 Basically worked with whatever the last time you entered
Well this worked in testing via the debugger but for some reason my sons phone isn't turning off...
1.3 fixes this problem. I was being a bit too aggressive on waiting for a thread to end.
I have found that 2.2's reboot command does not accept the -p parameter which means that this will not work. If some one has another method I would be more than happy to add it in.
Only tested to work on 2.3, primarily under Fusion XII. Its been working fine for me.
very cool idea., any idea if it'll work on ICS?
No clue since i don't have a device with ICS.
can i use in motorola milestone or other device ?

I'd suggest a power icon with clock hands on it as the icon. If you want I could make a quick one for you.

That would be neat. My wife made that one up pretty quickly.
I have just verified that the code still works under Android 4.2.2.
cron4phone app, free on google play, does same, and also lets you vary schedule by day, etc, and schedule many other tasks as well. you do need root for it to work.
Good to know. I had originally made it for my sons phone.
Hello kevria,
Are you still working on this project? I have a couple of suggestions.

I havent been but I still have the source code so could modify it as needed. I also havent had a reason to use this since my son's android device died.
My condolences
Well, I can't find a countdown shutdown app anywhere, was wondering if you could make do so.
Not on a specific time, but like 1 Hour or 10 minutes count down.
Hope you will be interested :fingers-crossed:
I will see if I can get the source to build and make the change. Im pretty sure I had it calculating out the amount of time from now until the shutdown time so it should be simple to modify the code.
The app isnt building due to a xml error that I will have to track down when I have time. You could use the app as is and figure out what 1.5 hours from now is...
Hello try creating a shortcut on your home screen, go to the application manager.
I have lost the source code to this app so I won't be able to make any changes.

Hello xda,
After a few weeks with my rooted nook touch, I have come to realize how annoying the DRAG TO UNLOCK screen is. Is there any way to skip this and go straight from screensaver to homescreen/book/whatever-you-were-doing? Already scoured the google and this forum and can't find anything.
Thanks in advanced!
yeah, that would be nice if the lockscreen/screensaver could be completely disabled!
I use No Lock by BoD http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock It has a widget for toggling the lockscreen too. I use it on all my android devices that don't have a rom with it built in. I wasn't sure if it would work with the nook touch but it works like a charm. I'd be nice to have a custom rom for the touch that has it built in. Maybe if cm7 gets running on it.

Thank you!
The problem of this utility is that it's always running as service and take some resources.
If I kill it from services keylock starting to work.
Think must be another ways - smth like disable lock in sys settings via adb.
If you're rooted with nook manager just use the nook touch mod manager and under the configure mod option you can disable the drag to unlock and also have a customized banner with your name and number below.

I know this is an old thread, and the Nook Touch Mod Manager fix DOES work if you have it installed, but as someone who just recently re-enabled the two part unlock, let me just mention that it is actually a useful feature. I don't know how many times I have pulled my Nook out to a random page, or random menu selection because the button got bumped whole it was in my pocket. Luckily, no random changes happened that were irreversible. It would really have sucked if I had managed to out it in black text on a black background, for example, and knowing my luck, it's amazing that I didn't.
So that's my two cents' worth. You can disable it, but it is actually quite useful, and speaking from experience, I recommend against doing it.
Hey guys Dave Here,
I'm trying to find a Screen Recorder that works for the Sprint HTC One. All of the apps I've tried that are free on the play store are not working for my phone. I can give more details about my run and so forth but I've done it on a different roms and versions of android to still have the same issues. If you know of a fix or an app that you use please let me know. Thanks for your help.

SCR Screen Recorder Free - gives me an error 139 (I think) each time I ran it. I've changed every setting I could and if it didn't give me that error it gave me another.
Screen Recorder Trial - It would save it in a format that was unable to view on the device or my windows 8 laptop (says its mp4)
Z screen recorder - Does record but the video is very very blurry with multiple colors and no options to adjust it.
So is it just me or are others having the same issue with their HTC one?
Screen cast worked on my HTC One..Never tried it since the 4.3 update because i moved on to a different device.
i believe i had to Make sure HW Overlay is disabled and "Force GPU Rendering" is enabled from the device's developer options menu
