Why won't my emails work? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At first on the Note I used the Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail apps to get my emails rather than use the stock email program. I tried today to set up my yahoo email, made sure it was configured online for pop3 access yet on the Note when I go through set up and enter the email address and password I get an error saying incorrect email address or password which cannot be as they are correct.
Any ideas why this is happening?

other than making sure that you are typing the email address and password correctly.... i really do not have any argument to make. different yahoo address like .co.uk use different pop3 and smtp address. regular users need to subscribe to plus services.

Yes yahoo pop access is paid service, you need to subscribe plus service.
Juast try to use imap service in stock email application, not sure but may work. If you are not happy with yahoo mail appl, find seven 7.54 apk on xda, i have uploaded few time back, one of good n real push support for yahoo.

Is it possible to push email from Yahoo?

Hi,
I have never had push mail facilities before. Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to get notification from a yahoo email account? I do not have an email plus account.
I have tried to configure my T-mobile MDA Vario III to do this but it does not recognise either my user name or password when prompted. Am I just trying the impossible, I ask as I read somewhere that it can not configure hotmail accounts and Yahoo is obviously a web email account.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
This should answer all your questions.
I don't know if you can setup true 'push' email from Yahoo, but what you can do is go to the main email screen, tap 'New Email Account', type in your Yahoo email address, and just follow the prompts. You can set it up to automatically pick up your email every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever you want. Hope that helps.

Check the link in my post above yours. That properly answers his question.
As TB says, Yahoo GO is the push solution - but it doesnt interact properly with the devices messaging client - so if you dont like the yahoo go app (I hate it), then do what RW said (but make sure you have the account enabled for pop (which you set up easily in the yahoo webmail client).
If you can forward your incoming yahoo mail to another account, you could use a Exchange Push Mail solution like the one I offer to push your yahoo mail to your device.
Yahoo Mail supports IMAP. Not true Push IMAP, but it is pretty close. You can simply set it up to sync your inbox often, if you can afford the data charges.

Useing Xpress Mail Need Yahoo Settngs???

okay i have a yahoo account with yahoo personal address package. any email that i use with the personal package is sent to my yahoo account and when i send a email from yahoo it uses that email in stead of the @yahoo.com email. now what i need is this
when i setup xpress mail useing the yahoo tab it is sending email from my pocket pc as the @yahoo.com email and it uses my full name instaed of what i have it setup with. it will not use my personal address email even though i have it setup in yahoo and the yahoo settings are the same. now i can chose other in the xpress mail setup and either choise imap or pop. then enter the email address that is my personal address email and then when i send email from my device its the one i want to use but i lose the instant push option and i have to maunal get my email. so what i need is the settings that xpress mail uses when i setup useing the yahoo feature. i cant see the settings because all it asks if the user name and password. so i need to know what xpress mail is useing for setting for yahoo to get the instant push working?

Adding two hotmail/live accounts on Xperia, Possible?

I have 3 different accounts set up on live and hotmail. I would like the emails from all of these to be accessible on my Xperia. Sadly every time I try to add the second one the phone does nothing.
I have tried two different ROMs neither of which changed the result.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
I'm not a hotmail/live user but i think that the phone wants to associate your live account with windows live. and you can only ad on windows live account. what you cold do is forward the mails to on account. i have 4 email account and i have them forwarded to an gmail account so i only have to ad on account for everything.
like i sayd i'm not an live user so i don't know if there is something you can do i never had this isseu.
ive got 2 hotmail accounts working on mine
Do you have live messenger installed on your phone? as a program not a panel.
You can do it, but you'll get push mail only for ONE account. This is how it works: Set up a new e-mail account, enter a fake e-mail address. The domain-part is important (The thing after @). DO NOT WRITE HOTMAIL OR MSN OR LIVE THERE! Enter correct PW for your e-mail. Then choose POP3 Servers. Servers are: pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com. Make sure you check ALL checkboxes you can, also in advanced, enable SSL, outgoing mails authentication etc. When you're done, EDIT the account you just created and put in the correct e-mail address. Now you can use it
Sweet. Thanks a million.
thats how i got mine to work
but i cant get push email to work how do you set that up?

Push Email

i currently have a the mlign hero rom and i dont know if the email on that rom is actually push since it takes about 5mins is there any email app that sends the email to the phone as soon as somebody sends it i know gmail does but i dont like to use gmail.
anyone know
Try K9 Mail. It supports the IMAP Idle extension, assuming you can connect to an IMAP server.
What kind of email account is it?
its a hotmail account
I don't believe Hotmail supports IMAP.
If you're in the market for a new email address, try tunome.com It's an AOL site for free email with hundreds of domain names to choose from. I know they support IMAP also for free.

[Q] Cannot add school email to Email App

Hello everyone,
I just got this phone yesterday and I tried to add my school email through the email app but it keeps saying authentication failed.
I added 3 of my other email accounts to this email app and they all went through. Only my school email address is having this problem. Can someone please help me out?
i'm not too knowledgeable on this, but i did have to set up my uncle's email addresses on an Android phone. i was having problems until i contacted his web host and found out the correct incoming and outgoing server ports..... then when i went thru the manual setup in the email app, it worked out.
I tried to search on my school website for the instruction on how to setup their email on another email client and it has all the incoming and outgoing info but when I tried to do it manually on the phone it still doesn't work. However, there is a note in the instruction that says that I have to use gmail app on the android device. I also use the gmail app to set up this email account and it works but it doesn't work with the regular email account. The thing is i want all my email accounts to be in one place and not having to use different apps for each account. If anyone have similar problems and find a way to solve this please help me out thanks.
hopefully someone can help you more. i don't know if this applies to you but my uncle's web host told me that some internet providers block the default outgoing port 25, so he suggested i use 8889, and that worked. good luck getting it working..
Sounds more like a "we want to force Android users to use the Gmail app" situation than a problem. Do you go to BOFH U? (Google bofh if you're not familiar with the breed.)
Before I switched to this phone I was using an Iphone 5 and it didn't have a problem with adding this email account.
I wonder what causes the regular email app on this phone to keep having the authentication failed message.
You won't be able to use it with the stock "email" app because of the way your schools exchange server works. You will have to get another email client that supports all of your email addresses. Try K-9 mail it's open source and works really well.
