Can I get an Ota being in the United States? And how about the kies software? I tried it and didn't work. Is my only way for me to get the updates is rooting and installing it myself?
You still update in the U.S.

im sorry im late to the party but i was wondering if anyone else was experiencing any trouble with trying to upgrade to 2.2 and saying the server to get the firmware was unavailable. i am running the stock rom on the phone. thanks.
The update to stock 2.2 is via Kies mini, not OTA. Search here or go to Samsung's site for the drivers and Kies mini.

hey thanks for the relpy i had already downloaded that that was where it told me the firmware was unavailable
Oh, sorry. I though you were trying to get the update by checking software update from the phone.
So, Kies recognizes your phone, but tells you there are no updates? What version of Kies are you using?

I'm seeing this update too but I'm probably going to wait a day or two for more info before downloading this.
EDIT: Never mind, I think this update is the same with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438487&highlight=la1

Hello everyone,
I live in the United States and have an unlocked German DBT Galaxy Note. Recently the USB port stopped working. I am unable to charge the phone, or access it from my computer.
Samsung USA referred me to International Support. I'm not sure I want to send it out for repair.
Now the JellyBean 4.1.2 update is out for my phone.
Is there any way to update it without using USB?
I'm not sure if it's because I live in the United States, but I've never been able to update OTA.
Could I just download the file directly to my phone, using the browser, and run the update?
Thanks for any help, and I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place.

If your phone is rooted,
pull out your microsd,
copy the file in microsd,
Put in the microsd in your phone,
Install mobile odin,
Flash through mobile odin.

It Worked!
Thanks again for the help. I was able to download the file and transfer it to my phone. I extracted the file and flashed it with Mobile ODIN Pro. I spent the last two days making sure there were no problems with it. My phone is now running 4.1.2.

So I live in Romania, and I have I8190 (international unlocked non-nfc model) and I have xxamd3 since I got it in July... Problem is, software update (even kies) say I have the latest version, however, the latest version for "Romania" (without any carrier) and Vodafone România (my Carrier) were released in September...
I know I can easily flash with Odin, but why am I getting no update by kies or software update?

Nevermind, I got it carrier-free from eMAG, and it apparently has the COA version (cosmote), which is pretty much the only one who didn't get the amg4 update
My question is, what happens if I flash the Romanian version for no carrier? (this might also fix some connection issues, since I am on Vodafone)

Yeah, I researched a bit, and I found that the ROM or the CNX (Vodafone ro) cdc were not in my system (/system/cdc), guess I'll just wait for the update from cosmote, I unrooted my phone for warranty, and I don't want to lose it

I have an unlocked T-mobile One (stock) using AT&T Service. I want the new 4.3 update but I'm assuming that the OTA update is for the AT&T version of the HTC one. What would happen if I got that update? How would get the t-mobile update? Should I just root? Thanks for any help.
You'll get the update whenever your carrier wants to give it to you. If you want it now you'll need to unlock the bootloader and flash a 4.3 ROM.
So is there no way to just download the 4.3 update from tmobile on a pc and just side load it?

Of course there is. Just search for the OTA zip here. Or, if you dont mind wiping your data, you can use the RUU from htcdev,
