Delay Opening Contacts - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if anyone with the SGS I9000 has any delay's when opening the contacts page?
I have my contacts synced to facebook and gmail and 90% of the time when I try to open my contacts i get a black screen with the status bar at the top for about 10-15 seconds before my contacts load.
Is there a fix for this?
Running Stock 2.3.3 JVH.

hmmm how many apps you have in your phone (is the memory quite full) and is your phone working well in other apps? Any other lags?

Only a few apps, phone works fine in everything else generally it's just the contacts which lag. It get's better if I restart the phone every couple of days. When I do that a lot of the time the contacts open instantly.
After running an application and then trying to open contacts takes quite a while.
Would it be worth trying a different gingerbread version?

Yeah, or you can try different kernel. Are using any task killer?

weird problem

Hi
I'm running cyanogen 4.2.4 and its AWESOME. But I've found a problem which I'm hoping someone on xda can help fix. Everytime I'm running an app (browser, messsaging, etc) and either I lock my phone, when I unlock it the app I was running is automatically ended. This has now got a bit annoying as my phone is set to timeout after 30 seconds and if I'm @ work and I'm halfway through texting someone but I have to get back to work I find my phones locked and the message disappears
Thank You in advance
Ps - I'm running stock 2.0 theme
regarding apps closing on their own
The first thought that comes to mind is... Are you running a theme? Are you using a task manager type app? If so are the apps you're seeing end on their own in your exclude list? Most task manager apps have a settable time to stop all running apps to free up ram and save battery. I've tested your issue and I can't seem to duplicate it. So I'm leaning on the idea you have a task manager app turning them off for you. If there is an app you don't want to close, then put it in the "exclude list" and you should be fine
and if that doesnt work you can always wipe and reflash

[Q] JPY is almost perfect but..

Has anyone noticed this bug with JPY?:
When you first boot and open Gallery it is super fast with all the thumbnails preloaded. After a couple of hours when you open it again it says "Loading images" and re caches the thumbnails again taking some time. This is especially evident in folders with a lot of images. It would be ok for an hour and then bam! Loading images slowly when i open it again.
Clicking on a folder opens it with the first four pics showing and then scrolling you have to wait a few seconds for the thumbnails to appear whereas when it initially booted all the thumbnails were already there. Its like it deletes the thumbnails after a while and has to generate them again which takes some time especially if you have a lot of folders and pics.
Is this normal, I don't remember this in my old firmware? Its the only thing that is bugging me. Maybe they force close Gallery after a certain time avoid the sensor draining bug that was there with the previous firmware?
Can you please check a see if yours is the same so i dont have to do a factory reset
you can download SGS tools from the markup and upgrade your gallary app.. that's what i did and i don't have any problems with the gallery anymore..
goodluck
The gallery app in SGS tool is not compatible with JPY because of the new feature of selecting wall paper for lock screen. I gave it a try but it would force close everytime i wanted to select a wallpaper.

Absolutely the same and even more.... I have my picasa account connected to the gallery too, after an hour mainly picassa the gallery crashes - black screen, but no force close. Actually this one, the battery (not 100% after disconnecting) and the contacts app not closing, made me go back to JPP.

The contacts bug can be solved by uninstalling the task manager's update.

[Q] Contacts doesn't close properly

I'm using the stock 2.2.1 firmware which works great apart from one bug..
When I open contacts.. it doesn't close properly and runs in the background. If I go to task manager and kill it the whole GUI restarts itself.
Also if I leave contacts open it seems to eat up memory (upto 80MB at times)
Does anyone know a way to fix this?
I like to know also....
Same thing happens on the vibrant. A fix would be really nice

This happens if you installed the update to the samsung task manager through samsung apps. Uninstall the update to revert back to the original version and it will close the contacts app
^Thank you veryyyyyy much. This also removed lag when entering contacts for me!!! B)

kind of little problem

i installed the stock ics 4.0.4 and when i trying to open phone.contans or messages sometimes its opening fast like half a second and sometimes it took like a second or 2.
how can i make the phone to be always the fastes like half a sec?

May the this happens when you use task manager to clear task, the contacts take a while to open. but if now, it opens fast
I never used task manager and my kernel is hydracore 4,3
From what I know it is a bugs from ics in samsung firmware itself.
It is always like that when a contact first load.
If u kill the process in contact, when u load again it will take around 2 secs.
But if u load / open alrd, it will be fast.

Yes exactly. when the contacts stay in the recent apps, it loads as it is already there.
Wired. Its always been there in recent apps and its still took 1-2 sec.

Being in the recent apps list doesnt necessarily means it still in memory.
Anyways, its a known issue on stock ROMS since ICS i guess. Disabling Force GPU Rendering in Dev Options seems to help a bit.
eyebee reported this issue is almost non existant on the new JB XXLSA leaked ROM.
Check it out.

Urgent please - Applications closing (not force close)

Help guys, since i use stocklite 7.1 that when I open certain apps like mms.apk or the Phone apk to call someone they just go back screen and simply close. Thats extremly annoying since i run a company and when i'm wiriting big sms it simply closes and the text isn't even saved on drafts.
Recently i also installed Viber, and it also happens there. What can be wrong?

Anyone knows? I searched a bit and some said ATK (Advance Task Killer) may cause this. Strange since i always press Menu-> Exit ...
Also i have a moded mms.apk to dont have limit in SMS, but i don't think is either of them thats causing this... or Tasker... When I had it before SotckLite 7.1 it worked fine...
Try reflashing the rom.
