Hi All,
Recently my Tilt started rotating the screen back and forth as though the slider has been extended then back in...but i'm not even toughing the phone!
Has anyone seen this?
It renders the phone useless as it's always changing one way or another.
I've searched and found (for an old rom) a suggestion to disable device msi1 (oem_misc.dll) but that didnt work. Obviously just setting the display to portrait or landscape doesnt work either.
More immediately, Can anyone tell me a way to stop the auto-rotation or lock the display in portrait mode?
Secondly is there a permanent fix? How can I tell if this a sensor problem (ie. something in the slider malfunctioned and is sending the signal that the slider is out...then in...then out...) or a software problem?
Any help MUCH appreciated!
I have 2 issues and they are as follows: issue 1- how can I get my tab to start on landscape mode and keep it locked in at all times, everytime I start my tab it always boots up in portrait mode even if i lock it on landscape before shutting down or rebooting. Issue 2- I purchaced LCD density changer and I cant get it to start on 200 it always boots up on default 240, then I have to reboot it to display at 200. Hope you guys can help me out with these annoying issues. Thanks.
PS. I am running overcome Jupiter on a T-Mobile tab if that helps.

Hey all. I just installed V21a, and i can't STAND the DPI at 240. i tried setting it to 180, and reboot. when it starts back up, the lock screen loads, and when i go to unlock it, the phone restarts...
I've tried using different launchers, using different DPI numbers, and i haven't had any luck. anyone else have any similar problems?
I've noticed that while viewing something my phone sometimes changes the brightness, not drastically, but noticeable still, especially if the background is white. My auto brightness is off and I'm running stock and not rooted. I was wondering if it was something with my phone or is it normal?
Is your sleep timer set to Auto Sleep? It dims the phone automatically if you're not moving it enough. Try changing it to a set timer and see if it still does it.

Just tried it at your suggestion. I tried it for 45 seconds then a minute it still happens. The best way I can describe it is if you use blinkfeed or any rss reader that has a light theme or even a web site like this. If you see a picture, then scroll away from it like you're reading the rest of the article, it'll dim a little bit.
As mentioned above I believe this may be the HTC Ones auto screen tone adjusting similar to how you put your home HDTV color temps on Dynamic, Standard, Movie, Sports etc. The HTC One like the Samsung S3 both utilize a battery saving technology used to automatically adjust the tone of webpages and other pure white screens by conserving battery power. I would try viewing the same screen with the power save features on and off to see if there's any noticeable difference. I don't believe there is a specific setting for this technology on the settings panel in the One like there is on the S3.

Hmm, I can't get this to reproduce. The only thing I can think of is the stock web browser has a setting to dim webpages that are still loading, but I don't think that helps you any. Sorry .

I've also tried just tried what you suggested, it still happens, which is strange.

I tried that too, tested it with Naked Browser and Opera Mini.
Still, thank you both for trying to help, I appricate it. I'm still within the couple of days to return, so I'm just going to go and see if I can get a swap for another HTC One.
Do you have power save mode on?

No, not originally. I did turn it on, tested, then off again to see if that did anything but to no effect. Still, this won't push my away from the phone. It's a beautiful piece, I just hope the swap will fix that.
