I am running CM7.1.5. I have noticed that the following options in the camera settings are greyed out:
Flash: Default on Auto, On & Off greyed out. Even in dark places the flash doesn't come on. The flash works wit the torch app though.
White balance is default to Auto and the others are greyed out.
Focus Mode is default to Auto and the others are greyed out. But I can focus using on screen and volume.
In video mode - it seems all options are available.
Any ideas?
Did you try scrolling to the very bottom and hitting the reset to default option?
dstruct Thanks for the suggestion, But I tried that, and the options I mentioned are still greyed out. I am wondering if it's some app that is causing that or what.....
If you haven't already tried clearing data/cache for the Camera app, try that.
Next, see if it does the same thing on a clean OS. Easy way to check that out:
Go into your recovery and do a full nandroid backup.
Wipe data/cache.
Check camera to see if options are unlocked.
You can restore the nandroid after the test to get all your stuff back as if it was never wiped.
(That's one thing I love about Android devices; complete snapshot backups allow you to do things for testing purposes that would make users of other, more fruity devices would think you were crazy for doing.)
If things work fine on a clean OS, then start digging through your apps. Maybe something is trying to "add features" to the camera and is breaking everything. If the issue exists even on a clean install, either you're using a bad ROM, or there's some sort of hardware failure.
Good luck!

I just noticed that you said you're using 7.1.5... Have you considered upgrading to 7.2.0? I've been swapping between 7.2.0 and ICS, 7.2.0 is by far the most stable ROM I've installed.
gallery not showing 7.2 pictures
I was using 7.1.5 before then upgraded to 7.2. If I am not mistaken, the pictures taken are of a different resolution? My old pictures shows in gallery and the new pictures does not show up. From file explorer I can see the pictures in the DCIM folder but thumbnails are not created. Anyone experienced this? Is there a fix?
I had a similar problem last week, but in my case it was a setting problem. When i changed to Scene Mode: Action, flash and macro was disabled. After reverting to Scene Mode: Auto, flash and macro was active again.
I had the same issue with 7.2 Camera very slow to open and then none of the button is enabled. Had to reload the ROM again and it cleared it. I clear cache and reset first which I didn't do before.

ok so ive hade my g1 for about almost a year now and the camera is really starting to piss me off.
when i first got the phone it was loaded with a dev phone mod from cyanogen 3.something i believe. anyways when i first got the phone and used the camera it had options for different settings, light filters (day, night, incandescent, fluorescent, etc) and pictures effects (B&W, sepia, etc). later i found this site, started updating rom files and changing themes and whatnot. ever since then the camera options went bye bye.
anyone know of a way to get these settings back? or anyone know of any apps that do the same thing?

Just about any camera app. And if you flashed cyanogen's rom right you wouldn't lose the camera app.
When I flashed to the newer version it didn't get rid of the camera app. The camera appis still there it just didn't have the same functionality it had before. The icon itself looked different and once loaded up the camera screen looked different. I no longer have the ability to change the settings like I did before. I was just wondering if anyone else had an issue with or what fixes there are without running a completely seperate app.
If there isn't a fix the app will work. Just seeing what's available option wise
Everytime I try to use the front facing camera on my Droid 3 it says "unable to intialize" and I have to power off the phone to reset the camera. I've found lots of people that have had the same problem (why didn't I find these posts BEFORE I bought the phone??) but I've not found any solutions.
I have not made any modifications to the phone. It is not rooted. It says my system is up to date.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thank you for any help I can get. I am beyond frustrated

Tried that (more than once, just to be sure). No luck.
Any other suggestions?
Which version of software do you have? Go to Settings, and go to the bottom and tap that and look at the version (post a screenshot or picture so we can tell).

It is System Version 5.7.906.XT862, Android Version 2.3.4
(Sorry for no screenshot,I tried a handful of screenshot apps and didn't have any luck with any of them working right.)
I have the same problem with minomoto
Do you have any third-party apps that use the ff camera? For example, have you installed any anti-theft security apps installed that may be set to use the camera if somebody has stolen the phone? Is it possible that one of those running in the background is not releasing the camera for other apps?

I didn't install anything like that and I don't think any of the bloatware has anything like.
This same issue suddenly struck my Droid 3 a week ago. I'm running stock .906, rooted, most Verizon bloat removed. Never had an issue with any camera apps accessing front or back cameras, then suddenly my front camera either shows black or won't initialize. I searched the web pretty extensively, but haven't found any definite fix. I've tried clearing the system cache and deleting the camera app's data with no result. I'm hoping to avoid a hard reset if possible, as I hate having to set everything up again, and by the reports I've seen it's only helped a few people.
You could create another ROM slot and try that from Safestrap. But it might be the hardware going pfffftt.
I know some others have had the same issue I believe they had to sbf. If nothing else if the issue survives an sbf you will know it's hardware

Change quality from superfine to 100%
Well, all the CM and AOSP roms don't have the same picture/video quality as stock 4.1.2.
Contrast, levels, sharpness, color balance, white point, it's all off in certain light conditions. Video is perfectly fine, but only under well lit scenes, when you don't have as good light, the camera apps don't boost the brightness/levels to make the scene visible, unlike stock 4.1.2. Let me be very clear: if you're taking pictures or video in clear sunlight, then it's not much of a problem. It's when you leave the sunlight that stock 4.1.2 is easily superior in picture quality compared to the other roms. Again, nothing that can't be fixed if you're handy with photoshop or other decent image editing tools. Just a little more work to get nice pictures off the bat.
I think once CM and AOSP roms' bugs are ironed out (since we have sources and devs can have a look at how it's done, not using the leaked code for legal reasons), another point of work could be porting whatever camera processing stock 4.1.2 does back into the camera files of these roms.
Of course I'm just a user and not a developer and my post may come across as a request.. I'd say it's constructive criticism, for the future. For those who don't use their phone much as an imaging device, it's not that big of an issue, the performance increase of these roms is worth it. Again, nothing that some photoshop can't fix, nothing that some premiere editing can't fix either.

1.The option isn't there.
2.In CM 11 even when checking that, the photos still come unfocused while de flash isn't on.I tried touch to focus, everything, and the final photo still isn't focused with the stock app.Good that the Moto X camera does it right for now.
Any chance of getting the screen recording working??? :fingers-crossed:
In this rom the GPS and the Wifi Direct works?
Because i am on Mokee OS 4.3.1 and i like to try for the first time a 4.4 based rom!

some app fails to install
I am having trouble while installing some apps, installation fails with a message 'Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card'.
It happens only for few apps (example: XDA app).
I tried to install the app after unmounting SD card as suggested in a thread, but it also failed.
Anyone got any suggestion.
Not that problem here. Try to flash again the rom making all wipes. See the first post in original development.

1. Not any app can be moved to SD card (not ROM issue, but app )
2. I don't need that, but in the rom is not implemented (I think)
3. Read all the thread. It's wrote that AOSP Launcher has no settings. Install Google Home. (search it on google )

Nov. 9th Build
Bugs I've noticed so far:
1. "CM Bug Report" crashes... lol kind of funny
2. SD card is readable from file man, but not from Gallery and Music
Things I have noticed:
1. Battery life is pretty good.
2. GPS is currently working and works well.

Agreed, I was pleasantly surprised.
I've flashed it a couple times, along with last night's build, and I haven't been able to restore apps and settings from Google Play. The Tap prompt is there, it just didn't do anything once I kicked it off. I also tried just signing into my account but I was never prompted to restore.
I also noticed that Screen Search (old Now on Tap) isn't set up by default. You have to enable it in the Google Search app, then enable Settings > Buttons > Home long press action > Search assistant.
For some reason, the home long press is set to 'Recent apps switcher' by default, which is pretty redundant.
Oh, almost forgot: the initial build didn't provide any indication on the screen when the phone was charging. The notification LED changed to yellow but nothing on the battery icon or the lock screen. The Nov 11 build fixed it.

I have never had the Now on Tap function work unless i enabled it through settings. Only on CM that is.
I didn't even notice the display not showing a charging status. I just go by the light to tell me if its charging lol
The only thing I really care about is the SD card being read correctly.
This is great. How is the stability and day to day usage?
Also does it include t-mobile WiFi calling? I read somewhere that, Google pixel includes the WiFi calling for t-mobile built in.

It doesn't seem to like sdcards > 32 GB. I tried to format one as portable storage and it got formatted as FAT32. I then formatted it as adopted, which seems to work so far, but the device storage shows "-60.52 GB used of 29.12GB". This is a 128 GB that worked fine with CM 13.0.
I've tried the November 11th and November 12th nightlies and the microphone didn't work on either. Otherwise it's working great Is anyone else having this issue?

It keeps complaining the my 128gb sdcard is corrupted and wants to format it. When I swap over to my MXPE, the sdcard mounts just fine. I can also access it on my PC.
Currently I have my card set as portable and formatted as NTFS.
I cant get my sd card read at all from apps still even on 11/13 build. also most apps wont install for me haha. so looks like im back on 11/09 build for now.
I don't know whats going on. First attempt had "No SIM". Second, everything working. Third, No SIM again.
The first attempt was upgrading from CM13.
Second, clean install after flashing the stock KDZ. (Cant be replicated.)
The third time I cant get it to work whatsoever, another clean flash from 20p Stock KDZ.
Issue is no baseband. dont know what to do.
After more experimentation I found that SuperSU (SR3) was the issue. Confirmed
Trying later versions. SR4 doesnt resolve the issue. NO root other than CM root
Other issues:
-SD card is not useable without root access in the file manager.
-Device encryption does not work. Cant be undone without stock recovery.
-Current version of TWRP is not equipped to handle encryption, No Crypto Footer, No CSI Structure, etc.

Same for me, any one been able to gain root access for this?
CM has a built-in root. I believe it's under the Developer menu (my G4 is in the shop so I can't check it now.)
No working camera, and it broke any app that uses the camera. This is a clean install. Constant app crashing. Everything from keep (the most common) to bug reporting. Tried every nightly. The most recent nightly (12.01) sent my phone into a recovery boot loop that couldn't be fixed by doing a complete wipe and restore, or a complete wipe and clean install. So at the moment my phone is bricked and ABD/fastboot won't recognize on my computer anymore. Can't even get it recognized in odin anymore.
I know there are a lot of changes going on at CM inc, so I should have waited until a full release was available. Completely my fault for trusting nightly software from a folding company.
lgh811 running the 14.1-20161130-nightly-h811
I did the standard cyanogenmod update as you would for any nightly update and this seemed to go well.
What works with no fiddling:
phone
texting
camera
wifi
user profile switching
works after fiddling
adaway - for this I had to install root explorer and mount r/w so adaway could modify the host file. The builtin file manager would not let me browse my 32 gig memory card at all.
Whats not working
cm bug reporter
Google play services
app notifications (facebook, email)
Weather underground had to be reset and the area where Weather Underground puts its data is blank as is the lock screen notification.
Oddly enough, email works. I'm not sure, but I thought google play services had to be working for me to recieve email on the standard gapps email.
Anyone still perusing this thread, don't try to go to cm14 from cm13 via the update path on your phone. I cleanflashed my phone with the December 2nd nightly and a current version of gapps and now the only problem I have is cm bug reporter (or cm updater, I forget which). GPS is slow to respond sometimes, which is something new. But that only happened in lyft.
Every time I open the camera, I am greeted with a speech bubble tutorial that mentions the aperture mode.
I'm not even ON the apperture mode. In fact, if you go to the apperture mode, the tutorial DOESN'T pop up.
It ONLY pops up on the regular, default photo mode.
It annoying and shouldn't keep popping up every time.
I'm pretty sure it didn't do this before the OTA that I got last week.
Anyone else?
I use Open Camera. It's great - it actually integrates with Google Photos, so I can jump between the two apps; the Honor one pretends google photos doesn't exist. One downside of open camera is you can't disable the shutter sound (apparently it only lets you do that if the phone supports it).

Yep. Nothing fixes it. I'm certain it was the most recent update that did this.
There are loads of other bugs I've noticed since the update.
Changing text size to small and rebooting the phone results in the font size being reset back to medium.
Google photos is incredibly laggy now.
Phone signal is terrible.
Video quality decreased.
Battery life seems poorer.
Hoping the Pie beta invite comes soon. Wish I could roll back while I'm waiting.
