Gingerbread has a lot of bugs and lags. My Ace is running better with Froyo, and that is all i need. With launchers and other graphical stuff i can reach same result as gingerbrad interface.
But i need to know, why i have these errors. ;/ CWM will hide errors, but why these errors are in stock recovery?

This is Voodoo LagFix beta4 for the Vibrant. It does not include color adjustment just the /data as ext4. This has been tested by many users and is confirmed working, including GPS WiFi BT etc. There is also the performance increase of course as well due to the Voodoo lagfix and the optimized Kernel with OC option.
WARNING BEFORE FLASHING:DISBALE ANY LAGFIX'S YOU MAY ALREADY BE USING BEFORE APPLYING THIS FIX - IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE LATEST LEAK JI2
Samsung has not provided us with the kernel sources that were used in the latest leak (which are different) so until they do we cannot support it.
To enable simply flash the kernel. It will automatically backup your existing /Data partition and create the /data as ext4 and restore so you dont lose your data of course.
To disable simply place a file/folder in the "Voodoo" folder on your SDcard (the internal one) called "disable lagfix" (e.g /sdcard/Voodoo/disable lagfix") no extention just that exact name and reboot. After your phone boots and you check that your /data partition is again RFS you can re-apply any other kernel you were using.
Upon enabling or disabling your phone will sit on the Vibrant screen. This can take 5-10 minutes depending on how much data you have (don't panic). "Linda" the robotic voice should let you know where in the process you are. After its done and your phone boots you should be able to run "mount" in terminal or adb shell and see your data is now EXT4 at
Code:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Disabling by placing the "disable-lagfix" file in the "Voodoo" folder in your sdcard and that simply undoes what the enable did and returns your /data to the RFS setup at its original location.
PLEASE READ
The kernel boots to stock clocks but CAN be OC'd to 1.2Ghz via setupCPU or a user script. If you want to keep the phone OC'd just use setCPU and check apply on boot or use a user script that launches from /system/etc/init.d. If you want to run stock clocks just boot and don't do anything
NOTE This kernel does not need the init.d folder to be present to flash but will parse it if it is there. Also this kernel includes almost all the optimizations my OCv4 kernel so you get the best of both worlds if you want. Voodoo plus OC!
So a simple install routine through recovery would go like this
1.Flash a ROM and root it or flash one that is already ROOTED
2.Download beta4 Voodoo .zip file
3.Reboot into Stock recovery and flash the update.zip made for STOCK recovery.
4.Listen to "Linda" the robot tell you the progress as Voodoo does its thing.

Going to test in a few. Do you know where we can get the disable-lagfix file? Your OP doesn't include it. =)
EDIT: Nevermind. I should have read more carefully. THANKS AGAIN JAC!
I just flashed the Leaked TMO Kernel with the GPS Fix... can I flash this Lag FIx?
Thanks a lot man! Really appreciate you giving us something to tinker with, been dying to try this out
Will users who already are using 1-click lagfix need to do anything differently in order to use this?

You just have to name a file "disable-lagfix" and throw it on you sd card. It shouldn't actually have any data in it.

Ya, restoring back to stock or removing the lagfix if its possible. You cannot apply this if you already have a lagfix. Remove it or restore to a previous backup before you were using the lagfix (you made one, right )
just installed on Eugene's r3 rom, and it feels very snappy, can't wait for beta 3, thanks!
Edit: just did a second reboot, and I'm getting an error about a blank internal SD card, and all my data is missing. Any ideas on what I did wrong? I had a lagfix previously installed but had reflashed r3 and didn't redo the fix(not a nandroid just a new flash)

Yes. I didn't want to go that far back but meh. 1 click doesn't seem to be working very well tbh.
Appreciate all the hard work that goes in to making the phone actually operate as it should have on day 1. This community is amazing.
It does NOT work on the new leaked rom, fyi :O)
If you are using the leaked rom and you flash this you will need to flash the original rom and check repartition to restore your phone.
Do you need to flash the init.d update before flashing this kernel as with your previous kernels?

No. Just flash the kernal through clockwork. No other steps are needed, unless you already had a lagfix prior.

Hi
Clockwork Recovery v 4.0.0.2 for Galaxy Ace
v2:
- working nandroid backup/restore!
For now i've disabled backup/restore of boot and recovery partitions. Restore of DATA, CACHE and SYSTEM is working fine.
If you have JTAG and want to test restore of boot/recovery please PM me!.
- it's based on KPH firmware + root in adb (both in normal and recovery mode)
v1:
Tested:
- wipe Data/Factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- some options under advanced menu (to wipe)
- install zip from SDCard (tested on some file from UOT kitchen)
- reboot recovery
- mount USB storage (and other mount options) Better not try to format partitions from recovery yet - it could format them to ext4 for which we probably not have yet support in kernel.
Know bugs:
- poweroff sems to reboot phone
- problem with graphics (probably framebuffer is set to 24 or 32 bpp mode. There is also missing double buffer support in framebuffer - thats why we have 2 recovery screens). It'll be fixed - thanks to tj_style!!
Remember, I am not reponsible if you brick your phone. You're flashing this on your own risk. Not all options are tested!!!.
How to flash (v2):
1. Download file from here .
2. flash it as PDA with odin
Mirrors:
Multiupload (thanks to peeter123)
I've removed recovery.zip - it was recovery.img packed with zip, not update for apply using stock recovery.
To move in recovery:
- Volume up/down to move.
- Home (center key) to select item.
- Back to move back.

Hi
Today i managed to run the newest Clockwork Recovery on my Galaxy Ace. It has some problem with graphics (as you can see on screenshots).
I've tested following options (and for me they are working):
- wipe Data/Factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- some options under advanced menu (to wipe)
- install zip from SDCard (tested on some file from UOT kitchen)
- reboot recovery
- mount USB storage (and other mount options) Better not try to format partitions from recovery yet - it could format them to ext4 for which we probably not have yet support in kernel.

I've also managed to create nandroid backup of all partitions (boot, recovery, data and system) but not tried yet to restore them.
Phone info
In recovery mode (sorry for terrible image quality)
I've attached packed recovery.img. it's based on KPH firmware + root in adb (in both boot and recovery mode) + su binary.
Remember, I am not reponsible if you brick your phone. You're flashing this on your own risk. Not all options are tested.
How to flash:
1. take KPH firmware
2. extract CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
- tar xvf CODE_S5830XXKPH_CL260130_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
3. replace recovery.img with attached file
4. pack it back
- tar -H ustar -c boot.img recovery.img data.rfs system.rfs >ODIN_FILE.tar
- md5sum -t ODIN_FILE.tar >>ODIN_FILE.tar
- mv ODIN_FILE.tar ODIN_FILE.tar.md5
5. flash it with odin

- Volume up/down to move.
- Home (center key) to select item.

Could You share what changed did you made to fix framebuffer problems ?? For now i've made some change found here to get 2 screens in recovery (was getting 4 before).
About backup, like i wrote, tested only creating. I have to set up correct size of all partitions in BoardConfig etc, Ace is my primary phone, so i don't want to brick it.
I've made some changes to recovery source (look into bmlutils/bmlutils.c - there are hardcoded paths to boot and recovery partitions, which on Ace are differend than those in code).
I've also used custom recovery_ui.c with custom key mapping.

I hope we can colaborate to make clockworkmod is fully working, because the Galaxy Mini, Ace, Gio and Fit is using similiar environtment.

It would be nice. As i see You have far more progress.
In my opinion it would be better to make it with only minimal changes (or even without) to android source (recovery etc), to keep it in synch with "mainline". Closer we keep(and less changes), longer we could have support.
Also getting rid of BML and use MTD (when we have sources for 2.3.4) would be great.

Unless the ROM you are installing is specifically telling you to "mount everything", do not do it. Try it again, but this time do not mount anything manually, installing from Zip should do it automatically. If it still doesn't work, make sure the ROM you are trying to install is supposed to be installed from Recovery, some do also provide files for flashing through Odin/Heimdall
EDIT: I do recommend flashing CM9 first, get the newest nightly from here: http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd and google apps (if you want them) from here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which is the recommended one for usage with CM9 ICS.
I've got an i9000, and I've followed the instructions on the site..
Enter CWN
Wipe data
Format /system
Then mounted /system.
Then install the zip and get this error:
"E:Error in /sdcard/Slim-I9000-2.8.0-OFFICIAL.zip"
"(Status 7)"
"Installation aborted."
"Can't mount /emmc/"
I took out my removable sdcard before doing the install so that accounts for the last message.
I had this problem with 2.7 as well.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Someone wrote something about installing 2.6 first after doing the data wipe and system format since it reconfigures the directory structure. Not sure if this is true. Any help?

I did have luck installing the SlimBean 2.6.0 zip file first, then the gapps.zip. Then upgraded to 2.7.0 doing a cache and dalvik cache wipe. No problems... but still can't seem to get 2.8.0 to work. Though 2.7.0 works quite nicely it seems.
I think there's an update app that is supposed to let you do it from the phone itself, but I'm not sure if that's working properly yet.
yes, i have no problems on old version. Now i'm writing through my galaxy s with cyanogenmod 10 and i want to try again slim ROM.

Yes! that error is a normal step of the installation!
When you install the zip of 2.8, you get the error. Then install it again and you will reboot. Power off your phone and restart CWM, then install again the zip! after this, you can install the extras!
If you are coming from any rom apart from slim bean 2.6 and 2.7 you will need to flash it 3 times although I think the advice is to flash 2.6 and then flash 2.8 rather than flashing 2.8 directly. I am currently on 2.5 and I'll updated to 2.8 on saturday but will do it step by step 2.6 > 2.8.

What's not clear to me is when they say flash 3 times, do they mean just try installing the 2.8.0 zip 3 times? Or do a wipe cache/dalvik cache between each try? Or reboot between tries?
I've got 2.7.0 running fine but it gives me an error on the 2.8.0 flash even if I try 5 times, and that's trying both with and without cache wipes between attempts.
I went from CM10 to slim bean 2.8. All I did was factory reset, wipe + cache and dalvik cache (I didn't mount system or anything like that).
ROM installed normally, no errors and no reboots. Been using it fine for the last few hours now.

I solved the issue in this way. we assume that it is correct to try mountind the system partition but if the error continues then it isn't the solution!
The slim bean team, cunningly, modified the file "Slim-I9000-2.8.0-OFFICIAL.zip"! they changed at 2012-10-25 00:07:28 thus, all those who download the file yesterday, they have the error status 7 etc...
You redownload the slim rom and then to follow the standard procedure:
- enter in recovery
- wipe data/factory
- format system (in mount and storage menu)
- install zip from sd (or external) card
- install slim gapps
- install optional gapps
- enjoy

You are correct. Just re-downloaded the 2.8.0 zip, SREC update and Gapps update files and everything installed nicely over 2.7.0 with just a cache/dalvik cache wipe.

help-'
Did you perform a „factory reset” wipe? Changing ROMs kind of requires you to - a factory reset wipes the old sd-ext, and you still have it.
And are you sure you downloaded the right ROM? I can't access the RR site now, but they don't have ROMs for Thea.
What phone do you have, actually?

I have xt1045 4g
I've done all the procedures to install the rom .
but gave those mistakes.
try putting on a rom 5.1 stock xt1045 according to what I found here on xda but I do not install it .
the phone did not stay at the logo and not as most do.
Then you need to flash this ROM: CM Peregrine
Or this one: RR Peregrine
See the ROM's discussion thread here.
