hey guys, i am with fido using a dream.
I followed cyano's rooting process and there is a link on how to fix your 3g for rogers http://thekidd.ca/blog/2009/05/rogers-apn-configuration-for-android-phones/
I was wondering if i am supposed to use the same settings for a fido phone (rogers owns fido) or are there other APN settings for fido phones.
Could someone with fido with 3g working please check what they have under settings->wireless->mobile networks->APN
Hello,
I have the Droid 3 with Verizon, unlocked, with verizon vodafone sim activated. I am currently in Canada, and am wondering why it will not connect to GSM/HSDPA towers.
If I go into the wireless and networks -> mobile networks -> Operator selection the phone will show me Rogers 2G, Rogers 3G, Bell, and Telus networks.
I also get this error for all three in the drop down menu, the name just changes:
No service
Selected network (CAN Rogers wireless inc. 3g) unavailable.
I have all the APN's entered for all three of those carriers, and can select them with an application named APN Manager, however none of those APN's show up in my wireless and networks -> mobile networks -> access point names. Both the vodafone APN's are unselected though.
I am looking to get on this GSM/HSDPA network, as when I am out in the country there is only 1x dial up internet on CDMA, and HSDPA available in the country.
If anyone can help me out, let me know!
Thanks much, in advance!
I have posted this exact same question at Howardforums. Here is the link to that thread:

You will have to first go to howardforums website, then add the above part
Forgot to mention: I tried a Rogers and a Telus sim card and they both got calling service.
Not sure if Verizon has roaming agreement with any of the Canadian GSM networks. You can roam using CDMA here without any problem. I believe Telus is backing up Verizon here when it comes to CDMA.
If you want to use GSM you can put a SIM from any of the operators here (except AWS ones) and you will be fine since you have unlocked phone. Cheaper to use too, of course if using local SIM is an option for you. If you will be using local SIM you will need to define APNs or you won't get data connection. Head over Google for the settings for each of the operators here (Canada)

Thanks Leobg. I believe you are right that there is no roaming agreement for GSM, which makes sense. Verizon lady told me otherwise
This phone is going back though, as I was looking for some HSPA while in the country.
I was using Droid3 and Droid4 with Mexican SIMS, IUSACEL and TELCEL without problem. Now Im at Canada and Rogers SIM doesnt work on both phnes. I guess they are locked, can you describe me how to unlock where i do purchase unlocking codes?
reply
If you are on a contract with Verizon, you can ask them for unlock code,
Insert a sim card which it ain't accepting, enter the unlock code and its done.
Don't forget --- Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> GSM/UMTS
But I believe once unlocked, Verizon doesn't work on it.
It sounds like the SIM. Or try switching to CDMA. I think the Canadian carriers still have CDMA on their towers (used to a few years ago) and maybe that's the roaming the lady means.
Hey there,
Just got home from visiting family in Toronto and my Note wont get data coverage off of a cellular signal (from wifi it works).
It's behaving as if I have the data network mode deactivated but i's not.
I didn't do anything to it.
Spent the last couple hours searching threads and even went and deleted and renetered my APNS.
Any suggestions would be appreciated...maybe I should have stayed in Canada
APNs
Have you tried all three different APNS?
APN: Phone
or
APN: wap.cingular
or if you had an LTE plan before APN: pta

Haven't tried the LTE one yet.
I have an unlocked AT&T s5.
My carrier is T-Mobile.
So far I have went through T-Mobile a few times and AT&T once. Also went through s5 manufacturer once. (All of them over the phone and through live chat sounds pretty novice.)
None were able to resolve why my data is not able to reach 4G LTE for T-Mobile.
Is there any resolutions for me to obtain 4G LTE for T-Mobile because it's what I'm paying for.
I was running 4.4.2 firmware unrooted. (Only showed 4G, E, and I think it was G on my data)
Just rooted last night, installed safetrap recovery and flashed the Alliance KK ROM today. (Only Shows H, H+ on my data)
My gf and I are on the same T-Mobile plan, we both have S5's. Hers is from T-Mobile while mine is from AT&T. The only difference in our APN settings is that her protocol says ipv6 and mine says ipv4. And our APN roaming protocol.

What are the apn settings your using?
When you insert your sim card and turn the phone on does and go into mobile networks does it auto load atleast 1 apn for tmobile?
I was successful with both stock att rom as well as OP: Najoor's [ROM] Debloated BNH5 ported from TMobile, rooted, deodexed, no knox, Download Booster//
I am using my Att galaxy s5 on tmobile and enjoying 20+Mbps lte in most areas,

Wow! You may be able to help me then! I already posted a post on craigslist to trade my ATT for a Tmobile phone because I cannot find any solutions to obtaining LTE.
My APN only has 1 apn and it has the green dot next to it.
The settings for the APN:
- APN: fast.t-mobile.com
mmsc: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
APN Type: default,mms,supl
APN Protocol: ipv4 (grayed out and cannot change)
APN Roaming: ipv4 (grayed out and cannot change)
from the t-mobile website.
After flashing phone into ALLiance ROM, I get the E, G, H, H+ as my DATA
Before I rooted and flashed (because i thought it would fix my problem for some reason) I would get the 2G, 3G, and 4G, but not LTE. But now i get the above ^
Would explain to me what you did to get LTE working?
Now that Verizon is rolling out band 2 and 4 LTE, I thought I'd try an experiment. Some background: I have a Nexus 7 LTE (2013) with Verizon data-only SIM, and an LG G4 H811 on T-Mobile. The H811 is SIM/network unlocked. I attempted putting the Verizon SIM in the T-Mobile phone. Full signal with Verizon SIM, but no "4G LTE" indicator. Attempted entering Verizon APN settings, but they would not save. (Is this device specific, or is the SIM card rejecting the APN settings?) Tried simply entering Name "Verizon" and APN "vzwinternet" but omitted MNC and MCC settings, and now "4G LTE" indicator DOES show, but no internet connection. Under About Phone/Network I am connected to Verizon on my H811 and Mobile network type is "LTE" but still not actually connected. Any suggestions for entering the Verizon APN info on a T-Mobile device and making it stick? I'm a paying customer on both networks, so please no indignant comments about "why don't you just ditch T-Mobile and/or Verizon?" This is just to satisfy my curiosity.
FYI, the Nexus 7 LTE (2013) does not have CDMA radios, so I don't care that the H811 also does not. Shouldn't the SIM work for the LTE bands that the H811 does have? Doesn't Verizon have some deal-with-the-devil arrangement with the FCC regarding their LTE that they have to allow any device on their network?

Is your H811 rooted? if so you may want to try injecting the APN into the apns-config.xml file located system/etc

Not rooted. Just found out how easy it is with unlocked bootloader. This might my next weekend project. Might also try unlocking band 13. I don't suppose anybody's tried that with the H811 yet?
You could open dialer. Type 277634#*# then touch unlock apn. Then you can get the g4 an changes stick
Small issues for you:
1 - You might have data on 2 & 4 (eventually), but you won't have CDMA connectivity and you won't have VoLTE, so you'll never be able to actually make calls.
2 - Verizon has a device whitelist (and blacklist) in place, so they actually need to ALLOW your device on the network, vs. a traditional GSM based telecom who simply implements a blacklist. The reason you aren't able to connect to anything even though it shows as connected, is because they haven't allowed you on their network. Here's the ****ty (****tier) part: Unless you have a Nexus 6, iPhone or a verizon BRANDED phone, you won't be allowed on. They've been very clear about this for about a decade now, and they're not changing anytime soon.
Small edit: The APNs allow you to connect to the network in the first place, so the APN isn't the issue here. The whitelist is.
