[Q] Difference between SU660 and P990? - LG Optimus 2x

I'm SU660 user.
I can't find difference between SU660 and P990. The only difference I found is button design.(SU660 has 3 buttons; P990 has 4 buttons)
When I tried to use CM9 rom, all worked fine but button does not work. I searched for that problem, and I read those have different hardwares. So can't I use P990 rom for my SU660?

You have answered yourself already. Different hardwares means different phones means different programming means rom for p990 is not for su660 and vice versa.

You need patches to make them run on SU660, but don't ask me how and where to get them..
I guess no one here in optimus thread has made such patch

Then you should wait for it... Every LG device, or every android device, won't compatible each other, for example P990 and P970. So don't try it.

haha.I have a mistake that I think their button are just similar and wondering there is a chance to flash it. I think I am totally wrong.
besides, Go launcher EX with NOVA is still a problem of battery drain and lag on many games.
However, I promise, I won't try to flash MIUI before official release. Thanks for all of you
Same buttons ain't mean anything.. lol. Glad you dint try.
Even the alpha versions of under development Rom can brick your device so trying to flash a completely another device 's Rom is quite pointless.
However I also wish we could have MIUI Rom soon as possible.
Let's vote... (again) but this time for sandwich, also don't expect to much

I have a Su660 korea set. But i'm trying very hard to find the IMEI number for the phone. Could someone tell me where is the IMEI number for it. As i'm trying to unlock my phone to get it to work on a US sim card. Any help will be appreciated.
I have a P990, so this may not apply, but....
The IMEI can usually be found in at least 4 places.
1) A sticker on the box it came in.
2) A sticker underneath the battery.
3) Settings/About Phone/Status/IMEI
4) By dialling *#06#

I don't have the box anymore. The sticker underneath the battery do not have it. It only has the S/N which is not the IMEI. Settings and so forth doesn't show it at all which i don't get it why.
Dialing *#06# doesn't work for me too apparently
That is weird. I searched a bit, and several articles dealing with IMEI on the SU660 state you should see it by dialling *#06#.
Stock ROM should use it, CM should use it. Are you running some special ROM or a custom dialler?
EDIT: You can also try some apps, search for "Show IMEI" in Google Play.

Hell fire Sandwich is available for Optimus 2x?

In G2x's section there is a good Rom, the Hell fire Sandwich ... now in one post of o2x there is a topic and a link of this Rom for G2x. Can I flash it on my Optimus 2x? I think that it is impossible... And you?
Inviato dal mio Optimus 2X con Tapatalk 2
O2X & G2X has different partitions layout and imcompatible with each other, that's why o2x & g2x has their own separate threads. You definately cannot use o2x rom on g2x vice versa, you will end up with a headache at the end of the day.

Yeah, but i read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570331 in O2x's Thread and in the page there is a link to G2x section with the Rom. So, if there is a thread on p990, can I flash this p999's Rom on my device? Or there is only a porting of 1.4?
Well.. it seems that it is a port from the g2x rom to o2x. Should be fine to try since it clearly states for p990. The g2x is p999.

Thanks Chupi. Maybe, you can suggests or comments about the latest Kang's Version.
Right now, the version is in Kang 66. I did not test yet but maybe in the coming days.
So, just tell me what should be done on this thread. What lacks? What to improves?
Dong Jose
havent tested kang66 yet...only use CM9 so i can familiarize my self with the options but now went back again to CM7 but still thinking of going back to CM9 or stock v20m if i can download it
Also havent tested the other kernel you posted for ICS...maybe will try that combo with owains kang...i always use wkparks ICS kernel...
my issue with CM9 is that i am having problem restoring data for my games...i do a lot of gaming on my phone and only tested CM9 cause im bored with my games
also confirm i am unable to see SD card when phone connected to PC, only see internal memory...
you can include link of stock SU660 ROM also...and i know someone who was able to use MIUI for SU660 so maybe if you know any link for that you can add it also
good thing you have the patience to organize things for SU660...this will help a lot of SU660 users

CM7 kernel for SU660
Can you post/share also updates to CM7?
I reverted back from CM9 to CM7 because it seems slow in my phone.
I am currently using Temasek's CM7 Bulids (Build 106) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425
I am using the SU660 kernel from this thread (Kernel 2.6.32.50) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395216
CM9 seems to be snappier(trebuchet launchet) compare to CM7(adw launcher) but games performance is a lot bettet on CM7...also tested both with quadrant and antutu and got weird result...with CM9 I got min 2600 to 3200 on quadrant but got only 5300 on antutu...on CM7 min 2400 max 2700 on quadrant but got 5800 to 5900 on antutu...base on my usage/experience,I'm with CM7 a little
Thanks Guys for discussing about LG Optimus SU660.
For sure, some developers were reading this thread and maybe, they can help us our problemas in LG Optimus 2x SU660.
Main thread updates as Aragorn suggested.
Thanks.

Hi all I'm new here.
Just want to ask some questions.
Firstly, I've tried some of the Temasek's CM7, but all seemed to have problems of Internal storage and when I'm playing Fruit Ninja.
I tried to flash Su660_32MS_default but 'installation aborted'. Same thing with InternalSDaddon
Can anyone help me with these?
p/s: Sorry for my bad English.

It's a kernel that makes p990's rom work on su660. In fact it makes the buttons of su660 work with p990's rom.

MIUI/CM7 kernel for SU660
I like to share this with you. This is Kernel 2.6.32.57 for SU660. I got it from vietnamese forum site. You can flash it with any MIUI or CM7 rom (I recommend temasek's CM7 roms). This is the latest kernel I had found so far for SU660. If anyone had a better kernel or higher version than this kernel, please share.
It would better if we could have kernels for su660 based on temasek's kernel, especially the overclock ones. I am not satisfied with open2x kernel. If only someone could compile temasek's kernel source and patch it with open2x su660 patch.

What ROM are you using right now? Ginger Bread 2.3.4 or Kang's Version? In order to install that, you must root your phone by CWM for SU660.
Please follow these steps for rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599

HW Accelerated ICS Roms

Anyone know an ICS Rom that has HW acceleration? I've tried Nova and Hellfire Sandwich but neither has that. Suggestions. Currently runnign stable CM 7.2.
The ISC drivers that are needed for acceleration are available, but are useless until LG releases some sort of Kernel to work with the drivers to my understanding. They are obligated to release the kernel and other stuff needed for developers to build a Complete and stable rom, but no one knows when. It should be soon tho, my guess 1week-1month maybe even sooner.
Here is the website, not sure if its official or not. As you can see, the kernel currently on the site is for v20(Gingerbread I think) we need v30 which is for ICS
http://code.google.com/p/openstar2x/
Since we don't have the drivers, we can't have hw accelerated roms.. so you'd better wait for lg official update..

@Dimension 2035 Thanks for the explanation. Is it safe to assume that when official ICS for p990 drops (its out for su660) then the dev team will have the kernel they need to work with?
@Byteater Definitely won't ever do an official LG update. When I tried upgrading to official Gingerbread my phone got bricked past recovery, luckily the guys i bought it from sent me a new one and so instead I just flashed CM 7 the next time and it works great... prolly better than official LG ICS when that comes out.

There is only one place I know that may bring ICS to the P990 and that is LG Singapore. If they do it will be Perfect!

you don't need to upgrade the phone to official ICS. But the official release (with source codes) will help devs to extract drivers and to insert them in cm 10 roms

NO!
we have to wait for the sources otherwize we wont know what to do with the binaries, also, 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 didnt suffer such drastic changes as its made obvious by the very small difference from 1 to the other, theyr both 4. something, so theyr almost the same except for some optimizations in jb if i didnt understand wrong. bottom line is, as soon as we get the sources well have a fully working cm10 rom in very little time, drivers are all thats missing since only camera doesnt work properly now... (at least in the cm10 rom im using(tony. p's hackfest)
I'll be waiting patiently for the developers to work their magic I guess!

Hi.
I'm using Nova HD rebuild ICS CM9 ROM on my Optimus 2x and i'm very happy with it but I'm missing HW support. It was said that the devs couldn't do anything until LG releses update for ICS. This is what I found on internet:
"Android 4.0 now available for LG Optimus 2X... in South Korea, anyway" (sorry I can't post a link...it's on engadget.com)
so would this help or are we still just hopping nont to be stuck on GB.
Tnx for answer.
