[TIP] Downgrade for TMOUS bootloader 5.10 using Goldcard & Android phone. - HD7 General

Ok,
I read through all the related articles and tried to downgrade my TMOUS HD7, firmware as below and I believe all other users for TMOUS have same as me if update firmware normally....
So I only re-arrange articles posted by Devs to here for not to confuse....for novice users just like me !!
---------------------------------------
OS : 7.10.7720.68
FW : 2250.21.51004.531
HD : 0002
RADIO soft : 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21u
RADIO hd : A12.0.D4
BOOTLOADER : 5.10.2250.0(132968)
CHIP soc : 2.2.5.0
---------------------------------------
PD28110 SS-BC(4K)
SPL-5.10.2250.0 (132968)
MicroP (LED) 0x07
Touch S1 (V1.8, #1624)
---------------------------------------
I have tried below ;
[SLSPL]HD7 HTC_Europe Stock Limited SPL ROM to downgrade >=5.10.x Bootloader by ansar
But not working for me as, maybe, my HD7's bootloader is locked only SIM unlocked. It stopped after starting flashing but no affect, no brick.... so it worth to try..... (Well, in my case....)
So only one and last choice for me to take a risk was Goldcard method by viperbjk..
Problem I was faced...
1) No 1G SDCard. (Damn! difficult to get ~~)
2) No SDCard Reader can be recognized by HD7 when I connect to Y-Cable together with HD7.... I tried 4 card reader and non of them were working..
So how I did without spending more money and time~~
2G microSDCard (SanDisk), get CID with android phone and make goldcard.img as instructed by here and save created goldcard.img to notebook.
Delete the whole partition of microSDCard and create FAT 32 partition for only 512M as a primary, leave as unallocated partition for rest of the space with using "EASEUS Partition Master".
Put 512M partitioned microSDCard to notebook and format FAT32, 4096 byte using Window explore.
Make Goldcard with saved img file and copy this goldcard.img file and "SCHUIMG.NBH" after changing the file name from "RUU_signed.nbh",which I got from here for TMOUS (I choose TMOUS NoDo Rom) to microSDCard.
Power off Xperia X10 and put Goldcard microSDCard into Xperia X10, boot to CWM recovery, select as USB storage and connect to Y-cable then connect HD7 after boot into USB Host Mode to another USB conncector of Y-cable but doesn't go forward after "Loading......" message on white screen.
Took out microSDCard and put into HTC Wildfire and did same as X10 but nothing happened. Worse than X10... HD7 even not recognize at all, not even to show "Loading...." screen.... (Here, I assume that POWER IS NOT ENOUGH....)
Put microSDCard into HTC HD2 and boot to Magldr recovery, select Mass USB storage and connect HD7 on USB host mode to another USB connector...
And OMG !!!!
HD7 recognize microSDCard as soon as connect to USB connector of Y-cable and flash very fast ( just single reboot and straight to completion).
So, conclusion, as a case study.....
For who has additional android phone...
You don't need to sensitive for Y-cable... just normal sync cable will work, even without soldering... just peel off to expose copper wire 1~2 cm for each cable and join / twist tightly.
microSDCard 2GB can be used... to make sure, just make a partition for 512M.
I assume that android phone's own power supplying is important to be recognized by HD7 as a USB mass storage (but maybe because of CWM and Magldr ??? I am not sure about this..) ..... when I connect SDCard adapter to one end of Y-Cable, it was not working... should blink the light but nothing happened (This is because of lack of power...) and of course HD7 did not recognize..
Funny thing is,
If connect direct to USB port of notebook, it blinking but connect to Y-cable, no blinking....
I didn't test other size of microSDCard so if someone tested, well it will be good information for other users instead of being crazy to find out "antique" 1G SDCard, I think....
After done, I checked Setting / About then I found out T-Mobile was gone.....
So my HD7 becomes unbranded now ?????
Then I flashed RSPL / HSPL without any problem and flashed straight for custom rom, NO PROBLEM !!!
Appreciate to ceesheim, viperbjk, xboxmod, ansar.ath.gr and other devs... who made my HD7 alive !!!!!

Thanks....
It worked perfectly with my Acer S100.....
You made me save money for me ~~

*** Flash X1 without PC - Micro SD Method ***

This is useful if you load a bad image and cannot make an activesync connection for RUU flashing method.
This method works for any 6.1 and 6.5, and even radio rom.
*** Some Kingston brand may have problem to use SD method, no solution other than use RUU method ***
0. Make sure x1 is hard-spl first
1. Make sure yr micro-sd is formatted w/ fat-32
2. rename the image file (normally "ruu_signed.nbh") to Kovsimg.nbh, copy that to the micro-sd, and put that it yr X1
3. Make sure X1 is disconnect to your PC to avoid goes to serial mode (AC power source is OK)
4. Bring x1 to boot-loader mode by turning off the x1 completely. Hold the "volume down" button on the right, and hold the power on button until you see the tri-color screen.
5. Then follow the on-screen instruction
Thx, always using this system.

This could be a problem with you're ROM language.
My xperia was english, so had no problem. 2 Dutch xperia's had this problem.
Just flashed SPL first, then flashed the english rom. And now the sd card method works on the 2 dutch xperia's.

I also got the same problem when using the rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2392404&postcount=1 but the flash of microSD method ran pretty well with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218&page=6
Does the device automatically reboot after it's installed? I just used this method and the device currently says:
'KOVSIMG.nbh - OK

It hasn't done anything since.

I'm having a few problems, I have the HardSPL installed but when i load the rom image on the sd card and reboot the bootloader shows a message of "no image found". Is there something im doing wrong? The sd card is formatted to fat32 and it only has the images on it

It works, I'm free and thank you
After weeks and weeks aof reading, reading, reading, making copious notes so that I had the process sorted from start to finish, I decided to bite the bullet tonight, yes, New Years Eve (well it is my new X1 after all ).
OliNex Hard SPL worked a charm, then during the micro SD method, the dreaded "no image file" message appears. RATS!
Numerous FAT32 processes, different ROMS and still the same message.
Tried the cable version using RUU and viola, I now sport the fantastic Touch IT v2.2 and NO VODAFONE
I would like to thank the more senior members for their cutting comments to witless noobs that made me read, search and read again.
Also to itje for his great ROM - have only just had a cursory scan so far as only just finihsed synch, and running like a dream. Donation certainly coming your way!

Has anyone more of an idea why the SD card method is causing so many to come up with the "No image file" message" ?
The USB version works for me, just would like to know the reason for error message - in case need to use it one day
BIG QUESTION:
Why some people can't flash from microSD card ??
I had the same issue
After a lot of trial and error, testing and testing, I arrived to this conclusion:
IMPOSSIBLE TO FLASH WITH microSD METHOD
(Nothing happens, "serial" message or "No image found" message popped up)
a) When I used an incorrect format (other than FAT32) on any brand card
b) With two Kingston cards properly formatted
I have successfuly flashed my X1 with unbranded cards and sandisk cards,
but after many attempts and format variants I NEVER achieved a successful flashing with kingston cards
Interesting...
Hi guys! i tried 2 flash my x1 ending in f***d up device.
I did the following:
1) running the hard_spl. The flashing started and at about 50% it stopped went back to the stripes screen telling me file not found...serial....all the things you guys described in the forum.
2) I created a card with a Kovsimg.nbh and restarted the device. Result was the same: File not found!!! but i did all like in the tutorial.
3) I tried again with hard_spl: First I got an Error 282 then 262. The device changes from stripes to grey screen the bar shows 0% ......thats all.
any suggestions??????????????????

Help! No USB... no SD card... now what?

Hi, my Touch HD is still under warranty but I'm running Hard SPL 1.56.Olinex.
My USB is not working, it just charges my phone. My SD Card reader is also not working... So I can only connect via BT and I can't find any way of restoring SPL without USB/SD... Is it impossible?

Do u try a HARD RESET? If you try a Hard Reset and still have the same Problem you can do some of the things.. tell me witch ROM u use.. maybe the USB problem that don`t wana sync is from the ROM.. also sometimes when you flash a 6.5 ROM the CARD is not visable one FOrmat normaly will clear the things but its bad when you cannot conetc to format via PC
The Best you can do is to flash Another ROM via SD Card but 1st you need to make your SD card working so if you have some SD adapter or some other device that you can take out your SD card from the Phone and conect it directly to the PC will be perfect to FORMAT it.. Once the problem with your CArd is fixed you can just put there some new ROM and Flash the Device...
Its very Bad when on the same time the USB and Card not working but don`t worry you can fix the things but its not so easy.
I'm running official HTC Touch HD_MR_2009_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_PTG_1.56.410.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe... I can connect to PC via BT and copy files...

Yes but the NEW Cooocked ROm is around 170MB so you will need few days to copy this via BT also when your SD card not working this is not posible because the ROM file must to be located in the root of the SD card
Now i understand that you use STOCK ROM so the best you can do is to go in HTC service for Warranty i was thinking you have a problem with Coocked ROM but when is with STOCK ROM its not your fault.
The problem is that I've installed Hard Spl... If I take it to HTC they probably are gonna say it's not covered by warranty...
If you use usb to charge your phone than datacommunication with your pc has to work.
Which OS are you running, because when you entering the bootloader your pc doesn't see your phone as a mobile device anymore.
If you're running WMDC and entering the bootloader than Vista or W7 is searching for new drivers..... If not found read this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524619
For XP you have to install the drivers yourself.
They can also be found in the link.
When the drivers are installed en your phone is synced than it will show USB in bootloader.
After that flash back to stock SPL
Hopefully this is will help you, your problem is very strange
Because of a not workin SD card and a not working USB
I wish you luck!
Thx! I'll give it a try tonight... but I don't think that will help because I've hard-reset the device and tried with Windows 7 and Windows XP and nor the phone nor the pc show any message.
I remember that the SD card did show up, but after a few seconds it would disappear... But now it never shows up... Already changed usb options on control panel...
The last thing I did when the SD was ok was trying Android with no luck.
I believe it's really an hardware problem and maybe I could replace the board that has SD/USB/SIM but would like to use my warranty....
If you update usb drivers there's a good chance that your device will show up on pc. Don't forget to 'enable usb connections' in activesync connections settings
Also if this doesn't work try flashing orginal stock rom which came with your device. This rom, and only this rom, will still flash as long as you are connected to pc (doesn't need to say 'usb' at bottom of bootloader). Alternatively try MTTY
Rick
I had a very similar problem when I last tried andriod. first of all my sd card dropped off, It would go in, be seen and then drop again as soon as I tried to access it. Android had corrupted it. Try reformatting your SD card fat32, copy the rom on and try updating the ROM again using your SD card.
It also busted my pc drivers on my pc, I had to uninstall them completely and then load the latest drivers. If you have another pc try it on this first before faffing with your USB drivers.
Once my sd card was back I couldnt flash any roms, no usb connection. I did a hard reset and then went into spl manually and set it running that didnt seem to work but when my phone rebooted usb was backup.
It seems andriod manager to corrupt my ROM, SD card and uSB drivers on my PC, I havent bothered with Android since and wont until there is a bootable ROM available (never)?
Your USB cable may be bad. Sometimes they stop working and pc communications stops. I've had to replace my usb cables from time to time.

Last time I had something like this, I had to remove the HD from windows mediaplayer. For some reason it was there as plain "storage card" if I remember correctly. After that I could connect normally with the HD again.
*Have you verified that your SD Card is actually working at all?
*-I've had a problem in the past with an "old" SD Card that wouldn't recognise properly in either my PC or my phone. Turns out all i had to do was clean the contacts on it lightly. My original 8Gb SD Card that came with my Blackstone has also completely died. It will not format, will recognise then drop-off and attempting to use it in ANY manner resulted in it becoming excessively hot - Dead card, not replaceable under warranty
*If the SD Card works in your PC, have you tried formatting it to "Device Defaults" via the PC?
*-This problem has in the past also prohibited me from using my SD Card in my Blackstone. For some devices, without certain registry tweaks enabled, only particular formats of SD Cards are recognised. I have also noticed that the card must be formatted in a particular way to be useable as a ROM Flashing card. The Blackstone simply won't read any images from the card in bootloader mode if the card is formatted improperly.
* Try another USB Cable, being able to charge via USB does NOT mean it WILL sync, for example, if your USB cable has bent/damaged contacts, or if the cable itself has a broken lead, the VCC (voltage core) and GND (ground) leads can still create a circuit to send power to the device which will enable it to charge.
*-Also try other USB ports... you never know when one maybe too dusty / dirty / faulty
* Windows 7 / Vista? Uninstall Window Mobile Device Centre (WMDC) re-download and reinstall, or allow Windows Update to do this for you after you've uninstalled. A simple registry error can fark this right up. I should know, as I recently accidentally imported my Blackstone's registry backup to my laptop... ugh that was a nightmare. Windows 7 recovered, but I spent a few days browsing with the wrong user-agent, meaning a lot of websites were redirecting to their "mobile" or "wap" counterparts...ewwww
* Windows XP? Well I can't say too much there, as I haven't used it pretty much since Vista was released years ago. Just do your best to make sure all drivers are updated appropriately.
other sd card
have you tired a different sd card there are known issues with some types of cards sd vs' sdhc and class 2 vs' class 6 cards. Also you may have a bad usb cable? Do you have .net framework installed. are you trying all this on the same computer you used to flash your phone with hspl. You can try putting your phone into bootloader mode wait for usb to appear on the bottom of the tri-color screen and then reflash stock spl from there by opening the BlackstoneRUUWrapper and going through the steps it should see your phone. See the wiki!
And why did you hspl if you have a stock rom?
I did a sim-unlock and didn't restore the spl after the process... I was waiting for the perfect 6.5 ROM...
I didn't have time to test it yesterday but I brought it with me and will try again later...
I already tested the SD in other Windows Mobile phones and was ok... The SD is not the original (Transcend) but a SanDisk 8GB but already tried it with a 2GB SD and nothing. Also tried with different cables. And in different PCs (windows xp and Windows 7). Also did a hard-reset.
Nothing worked! When I enter bootloader with usb cable connected there is no SERIAL and no USB message, but if I remove the cable it changes to SERIAL and doesn't change anymore. On the PC, with XP, W7 and Ubuntu, nothing happens... lsusb gives nothing... on device manager it doesn't show up.
Regarding the SD card, when I insert it the screen turns on, but still no storage card detected... I really think it's an hardware problem.... I ordered this, just in case, http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-simmicrousb-card-module-p-7149.html, but will still try to take it to warranty before because there is a seal over one of the screws...
Thank you all!

[Q] Any way to find out the HD7 MicroSD's CID info? Free gold-card awaits!

As many of you may have seen, this website offers free gold-card for wp7 devices.
It requires the CID; However, i cant seem to find a way to retrieve the CID info of the memory inside the HD7, without having to take out the MicroSD-card (that can void the warranty)
Anyone knows any alternative way?
Thanks.

what for phone do you have ?
is it an hd7 , if it is you need a Y-cable , cardreader , wall charger , sd card (1 a 2 GB)
drop the sd card in a wm phone and use the psas software to get the CID , and order your goldcard .
format the sd (fat) and put the .img and the RUU_signed.nbh on the sd .
connect one side of the Y-cable to the charger , one to the cardreader and the last to the phone .
bring the phone in bootloader and flash (I didn't test this )
... Trying the same: with the other trick from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867366 I was able to see microSD available in Explorer, and checking its property I had a serial number... that fits on that webpage form. Will let you know. In the meanwhile Happy Christmass.

What to do now?

please read my post again , you need a external SDCARD and a CARD READER .
if you wan't to use the internal sd then you first need to open your phone and take out the sd card , format it (LOL not working because the sd card can't be more as 2GB) and put the GOLDCARD:IMG on it (to format it use a nokia) and then put it in bootloader (3 colour) and then put in the sd card (on the sd are : .nbh and .img files) .
now the phone will gif you some options (flash or not)
with external process you are not able to put bootloader from SERIAL mode to USB mode (i suppose this is only zune driver can do). So this does not seem to be a way to do it...

I am playing with this to , here is a quote from the dev that made the goldcard for us.

Happy XMAS :
Go and get your WM7 or Android goldcard for free :
Link to the goldcard generator
In order to use the WM7 goldcard, just use an Host USB Cable (Developer Y-Cable) and connect a sdcard reader to it.
Edit :
For those who do not understand how to use the goldcard :
- Use any sdcard and a wm5 or android device to make the goldcard (Yet we do not know how to read the cid using WM7)
- Buy a Mini USB On the go Y-Cable like this one :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLOCK-USB-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1292614709&sr=8-1
Also buy a converter from standard usb to micro usb.
OR build a usb otg host cable by yourself.
- Get an external usb sdcard reader
- Connect the cable this way : Phone is connected to 1x usb sdcard reader and 1x usb port for power.
Then you can use your newly generated goldcard for flashing any HTC OEM Rom

26) you now have full use of your SD card again
I hope this helps a few people.
Boysie
just used this on the stock 16G card from the phone!! Works like a champ!!!!!
Going to find a pre-mango xbmod rom to try so I can see if it will unlock my 32G card...
Mods,
Can you please make this a sticky???
Tried it myself. Although it's a hassle to put a new Custom Rom on the phone because you lose all your data this tutorial really works!
My only problem was that DiskPart cleaned my SD Card but didn't want to create a partition. I had to remove and reinsert the MicroSDHC card, clean it again and then it worked like a charm.
+1 for making this a sticky. Could be extremely useful to lots of users and the rom that is used is available on all HTC 1st gen devices.
be nice if this SD_UNLOCK could be included in all custom ROMS!!!

if the custom rom supports cab sender then you can just send the dev_storageunlock to the device. it will persist even after hard reset but not flashing.
we just need rom buliders to start support cab sender and we will be good for everything. :0)

When you use an SD card in WP7 the card is no longer usable in any other phone/laptop/device etc.
The SD spec allows for the 'S' Secure password to be setup so only the device that knows the password, in this case the WP7 device you last Hard reset it in, can access the card.
You can remove this password using a nokia symbian device but not every one has access to one.
So the purpose of this tut is being able to use your own HD7 to remove that secure lock so the SD card can be read in any other phone/laptop/device etc. and format or in some cases dual boot to droid if you could be botherd to inflict your self with that rot.
Hope this helps.

Ok so does that also mean we can replace the hd7 card with another of our own purchased from off the shelf?

So if the sdcard , can be read by laptop, is IT possible to change its contents like down grade sol, is ECT while the card is in the laptop

Go check out the sticky on how to upgrade the memory in the HD7 to 32GB...
you can upgrade it, but you don't need this to upgrade it... This is so once a card is removed from the HD7 it can be used in other things. You can't take it out and modify it etc then put it back in...

Hi there.
Just want to say that my HD7 have Bootloaer(SPL-5.10) and the ROM in there does not support cabs install. But, I have HD2 and install HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native with the HD2, and follow the step in this thread in post one(1) and put in my 16GB from my HD7 and BINGO it UNLOCK the card.
Now I am using Android on the 16GB for my HD2 and the 32GB card for my HD7. I might end up switching it the other way round. Won't mind or worry cause now I can UNLOCK the card without any phone.
Thanks for your guide.
PEACE!!!
Great
The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an attention of every one.

it will recognize just about any card, but some cards are too slow to operate properly. In the sticky on how to upgrade to 32G, there is a lot of info on what cards will and won't work.

the card i want to use is a 8GB microSD class 2 but has no brand on it
its taken from an older smartphone around 2009
I am intending to install this card on the phone
Since its a class 2, it may be lower power consumption hence better battery life.

Best bet is to do the crystal disk mark test on a PC before you install it to make sure it is fast enough. Save time.

[Q] Bricked ... now "Enter USB host mode" is stuck ... how to fix?

My HTC HD7 (T-mobile) was initially bricked during an update.
Took it to a questionable phone repairer ..
Now you can start the phone, it goes to a red, blue and green screen with the following information:
PD29110 88-BC (4K)
SPL-1.16.2250.0(110866)
MicroP(LED) 0x07
TOUCH 81(v1.8,#1624)
Then it goes to a white screen with "Enter USB Host Mode.."
You connect it to the computer and it is not recognized via USB. Cannot turn the phone off using the on/off button.
Anyone know how can this be fixed?
NOTE: I am totally illiterate to phone tech talk so keep any answers to "very simple instructions". Thanks in advance :good:
Try flashing the device with a Tmobile Pre-NoDo/NoDo stock rom via the goldcard method and that should fix it.
Goldcard method - requires a Y cable, (either home made or purchased online) SD card reader and a 1gb to 2gb SD card (larger SD card can work but needs to be partitioned to 1gb) download the goldcard tool, goldcard image and the stock rom
Use this Tmobile rom -
https://rapidshare.com/#!download|4...02_Radio_5.65.09.25a_22.45.50.21U.7z|9315|0|0
Follow the goldcard tutorial and download the goldcard tool and image here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597837
This process seems alot more complicated than what it really is...actually it's easy.
Download the goldcard tool and goldcard image and put them in a new folder on the desktop
Download the Tmobile rom and extract (use a program like 7Zip) it to a new folder on the desktop. Connect the SD card with the SDcard reader to the PC. Remove the Ruu_signed.nbh file from the rom and rename it to SCHUIMG.nbh (has to be capitalized) and put it on the 1gb - 2gb SD card (clean/wiped and formatted to FAT32)
Run the goldcard tool and press the Load goldcard image button and choose the goldcard image, the select patch MMC button.
Connect the SD card reader to the Y cable and connect it to the power source, put the device into "Enter USB Host Mode" and connect to the Y cable and the flash process should begin.
That's pretty much it. After the flash process the the device should be fixed and from there you can either connect it to your PC and update the device through Zune or you can install XSPL (RSPL/HSPL) and then flash a custom rom like one of the OS 7.8
If you need any help just let me know!

Thanks xdrc45, I really appreciate your assistance.
I managed to do everything you mentioned ... connected all up and the phone went from "Enter USB Host Mode.." to "Loading..." and then it just stays on that screen.
I left it on for over an hour and still no change. Any ideas?
Your welcome!
I had this same problem when I flashed mine with the goldcard method and I ended up using a different card reader and the flash process started immediately. Good thing is, it's recognizing the connection since it changed to "Loading" which means the Y cable is working.
Try some of these and see if they work -
1. Use a different card reader. If the card reader uses a USB cable (like a printer style USB cable) try a different cable.
2. Try switching around the connections to the Y cable.
3. Sometimes the camera button will get stuck in and prevent the device from flashing.
4. Make sure there are no other files on the SD card other than the SCHUIMG.nbh.
When the flash process doesn't start and it hangs on "Enter USB host mode or Loading" make sure to disconnect the device and pull the battery and re-enter USB host mode to start the process again.
Try these and let me know how it goes!
