I have been looking but I have yet to see one on here. I'm not all that impressed with the volume of the speaker when I'm watching videos our listening to Pandora. Please help!

You can try this, don't know if it will work or not.

Lvh on the market has louder hacks for everything, from speaker to bluetooth to headphones to in call. If you're too cheap to buy it, his website tells you how to do it manually.
Edit: I'm an ass, that's exactly what he linked too. Lol
It works, but the little speaker can only handle so much before breaking up.

Thanks I will check it out tonight.

I have horrible sound recording during videos. My first video was shot in the bathroom and I thought maybe the sound was overwhelming for the mic bit after further review I have noticed that all of mu videos have bad sound. Inside /outside and everywhere in between. Any ideas?

Video on mines been excellent sound has left something to be desired, guess the real question is what kinda video are you shooting in the bathroom lol jk
Hahaha...my 2 yrs twins were in the bath.
That worries me that no one has had an issue. I bought mine off Craigslist and can't return it to the store...I'm sure htc would fix it but I don't want to send it in. Sad face

I've also noticed the sound on mine being a problem. It seems if the sound is too loud, it just turns into static. Does anyone have a solution to this? Possibly a different video recording software that works better than the OEM software on the Vivid?
Have you tried checking the videos on your computer? HTC has a rep for putting bad speakers in their phones.

I've played the videos on the computer with the same results. I just didn't know if there is a setting for equalizing the Mic.

It's not just you. Look at the sample videos on YouTube and you'll notice the same poor sound quality on all of them.
I am starting to think this maybe an audio driver issue or cheap audio hardware. I get poor sound through mu headphones as well. Its not very loud and sounds seem blended together. Missing my infuse and voodoo sound. Sad face
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
I get good sound through the headphone jack as well as the earpiece and speaker but I will agree that sound quality in videos is crap. The mic gets constantly overwhelmed with sounds that aren't even that loud, and in playback that results in momentary muting of the sound altogether.

Yeahhhh, I'm really disappointed in the video sound quality. I was at the Watch The Throne (jayz and kanye) show a few days ago and got some reeeeally good videos.. However the audio is pure static and white noise. Smh
Mine is fine. No better no worse than my i4s was.
No problems here...works gr8

Uncheck stereo recording and see if that helps. That's one of the solutions for the Sensation and Amaze. (We suffered the same problems.)

Same problem
My wife complains all the time that since switching from my iPhone 3Gs to the Vivid she can barely hear me during phone conversations. I have also had terrible luck with the audio on my video recordings. I was trying to record my son's band, and I thought the drums were just too much for it to handle, but I just recorded a very mild piano recital with the same results. The audio playback on both the phone and computer are terrible. It just sounds like it is coming in waves. I hope there is a patch that they can release to correct this problem.

I've learned that the BEST way to get mediocre (at best) audio is to use my old iPhone headphones (that has a mic built in).. I'm going to a concert tonight. I'll test out the quality then. I'll post a vid on YouTube if it's up to par.
I actually started using lgcamera from the market. I get consistent 30fps and if you change the sound options to aac, 44100khz, 128kbs it sounds amazing. It's still mono but no more Mic clipping or gain issues. Much better than HTC camcorder with mono audio.
I can finally record my daughter and understand what she is saying. And being at 44khz, sound is great.
I've tried this app about 5 months ago and it wasn't as fluid as it is now. So I'm keeping this version's apk handy. Give it a try since its free. (don't check the enable stereo beta thing...I think it actually records backwards..)

Damn, I gave it a try. Initially, it'll launch but when I press record it says a failed error message. Then sometimes it freezes when I try to adjust the settings.. Then I force closed it and open it back up and the screen is black. I did a restart with no success.
It might have something to do with me having an htc vivid with the amaze camera apk (via holiraider rom)
I am just posting that the on board speakers died on my phone. They aren't blown as headphones don't work either. I can only hear anything on a regular phone call as speakerphone doesn't work either. I have restored my one to stock as I am doing a rma on it. Anyone else ever experience this?

Do you have bluetooth speakers? Try that and if it works it's probably the amp imo. If it doesn't it might be your audio driver. Either way your probably going to have to get a replacement or a repair.
Have you called HTC and troubleshooted with them yet?

Yea I contacted AT&T my provider and they are shipping me another one. I had cm10.2 on it when it stopped worked but even returning it to stock had no effect. I just posted here to see if anyone else had experienced this issue.

Not closely similar to this, but I'm about to claim for the SECOND time that the top speaker is junk. The first phone it blew leaving it distorted and fuzzy. This one, all of a sudden overnight it sounds like a crazy vibration coming from the speaker. Kinda hard to explain... But it sounds absolutely terrible. So I'm going to fastboot the RUU and see if that makes a difference. If not its going back for another

I recently got a second hand HTC One and flashed the GE ROM. Now using the same exact sim and network provider as my N4, the noise gate on the One is set too high for phone calls!
This basically means that when I'm talking to someone on the phone, if they are not talking loud enough, they are cut out all together. So when someone is really soft I hear nothing at all. When someone is on the edge I hear them ducking in and out. And when someone is taking loudly I hear it perfectly clear.
Call volume does not effect this issue, and it doesn't effect media in any way. So it's happening on the phone call before it gets to the OS. But after it gets to the phone.
Any ideas? It doesn't seem to be a know issue that I can see. Is it a hardware fault?

Good to know I'm not the only one. It must be something set by the hardware (or the firmware).
Are you can running HTC Sense or a custom ROM?

So It's got nothing to do with my ROM either. Maybe that's just the default that HTC wants you to use.
If someone can find any information on how to change this functionality, I think we'd all appreciate a link

this is the hong kong and taiwanese flagship we will get it
Definitely Taiwan will get it first! Look at One X+, Taiwanese version got 4.2 before all the others.
I really hope they fix the audio crackling at high volumes, perhaps my unit has a defective headphone amplifier, but another user, tsokh, also noticed the same thing =/ Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 600 had a similar problem, but I contacted HTC the rep told me that nobody else has complained to them about this issue (but then again I contacted HTC North America not Taiwan, a bit of a language barrier and they give you similar replies everytime there).
Also Beats Audio is kinda buggy if you listen to speakers with Beats on, and plug in your headphones the volume increasing effect of Beats is actually reversed and it actually decreases your volume, then turning Beats off actually increases the volume (leading to the audio crackling too). Even worse, after I do this, I start getting an occasional audio ZAP like not crackling but a loud squeak at the same location of a song.

It's noticeable only on some type of music and only with high level of volume - you can't hear anything with moderate volume level.
Beats bug with increasing/decreasing volume is true :fingers-crossed:

It's only occurs with songs that have a slow deep bass, example would be the slow part of Touch by Daft Punk, some R. Kelly songs. With most songs audio quality is great but I notice a little bit of high-pitched EMI on the left channel at the beginning of each track.
The audio crackling is very apparent with in-ear headphones and earbuds, if you have the volume above 11/15. I find 12/15 to be the ideal listening volume so I do notice it a little bit, but using PowerAMP it SOMETIMES doesn't happen. (but with PowerAMP I get occasional audio popping as opposed to the crackling distortion)
With higher impedance on-ear headphones you only get it at the maximum volume setting (Beats off).
The HTC rep advised me to have it checked with RMA (I might just go to a service center in Taiwan to ask about it the next time I go, it takes about 2 weeks for a factory repair though)
Does anybody use Bluetooth for listening to music? If it doesn't happen on Bluetooth it might be the headphone amplifier.
When is android 4.3 really coming out for the htc butterfly s

It's not only the butterfly S that is affected by the crackling sound on high volumes. I can confirm that it's also happening in One S and X..

are you getting the same problem? I thought it made sense because the Butterfly s uses the same chipset as the i9505 GS4 which also had its own share of audio problems. It might only affect a few units as daorderdillon says he doesn't have the same problem with the song in question. It may also be that only 901e are affected as he has 901s.
Strangely I never got this problem on my One X+ but I did get constant skipping which bothered me but mostly only happens if the screen is on and I'm doing something with the phone. Original HOX had a bad DAC and a lot of users disliked the audio quality (never tried myself), HOX+ much cleaner but kinda lacking in bass and treble.
The new update does seem to make the touch screen more responsive. I was having problems with the shift key and the back button, also playing Lep's World 2 where the jump button didn't always respond (perhaps it's because they updated it recently). Finally, there used to be a continuous hiss in the background even after you stop music playback. With IEMs the hiss is still quite noticeable at the beginning and end of songs (including a high-pitched EMI on my left speaker), but it stops soon after you pause the music.

sorry haven't rooted (yet anyways), still a noob here =/... Due to that headphone issue which I think may be due to the amp I don't want to risk my warranty yet, I'll be going back to Taiwan in a few months and maybe get a repair...

There isn't much difference actually the camera seems the same. Keyboard and buttons seem to be more responsive as I had some problems before under the screen protector.
Also, charging animation means your screen will always be on, I only realized this yesterday and I really hate it - what if your screen burns in? (good thing it's not AMOLED, but still there might be some retention as I get that on my iPad 2) Right now the only solution is to charge under standby mode.
