my phone has many lags in scrolling pages in most of launchers .
hove can i solve this ?
There are several threads on this.
If your Note is not Rooted, then you would be best getting Root access and disabling or removing much of the stock bloatware. It will kill performance and battery.
You could also, or alternatively, flash a different kernel. If doing that, you may as well go for Root access as well IMO.
I also had some annoying lags thoroughly the whole GUI.
All of them gone away since I flashed a custom Kernel, in my case it's Franco Kernel 9, imho it's the kernel that counts (or you have a f******-up-firmware ^^) .
Regarding lags I could not see/feel a difference between stock firmware and custom ROM (Darky ROM 3.3 final), together with franco kernel 9 the feel the same lag-wise .

Yup..i agree.. I hav tried almost all roms out there... All the ones till la6 werent so lagfree..But not now... U should try lc1 custom roms with frankos kernel... My browser is f****** fast... I m in love with my phone again...
Hint:try chracks rom and add francos new sources kernel or v9 kernel to it= pure awesomeness and almost zero lagss... My adw launcher and browser is so smooth now.. Try a kalagas theme to add more elegance to it.. And u are gonna hav a hell of a fast phone...) give it a try..highly recommended..
Remove the widgets nd see if the lag remains.....i was on go launcher nd now im bak to twizz.....the lag stopped when i removed some of the widgets...cant remember which ones though. Id start with a blank home page nd check 4 the lag one by one.....that is ofcourse if u dont want to root

You should try all the new lc1 roms for your self and try them out.. Try the new lc1 roms.. Like chracks,checkrom,kingdroid,cassies...
Wait for official ICS and the lag should be gone.

If you're not keen on rooting, go to task manager and clear RAM on regular basis to stop several running apps. Sometimes low available RAM slows system. Also, reduce amount of widgets you're using as poster mentioned above.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I was running Juwe's 4.3 JVH with a Damian kernel and front cam fix which was pretty damn good
JVK AND JVO are the best in my opinion with all the other ones i had problems like things crashing
jvb even crashed the video driver once.
P.S. imho most bugs and issues are selfmade. Although i 'm not a developer, i would always recommend to do a clean upgrade with wiping caches and factory reset! And you should't rely on titanium backup batches to work properly. User apps might be restored by tb but be careful in regards to system apps.
Biggest problem might be the lack of patience when it comes to restoring data. Do it step by step and do a lot of reading guides and follow them thoroughly. Then you should be fine.
But thats just my amateur point of view.

So far ive used ficeto JVH and its very smooth but not very visually pleasing. Another good one ive heard its Ezbase. But you have to theme it if you want it to look good.

agreed m8 im currently on it, i feel guilty by just thinking of changing it, i dont know what shall i do now, i (have to flash my phone !!) ,
do i need psychotherapy ??
after doing my root research and stuff, when i started to flash custom roms, i did like 5-6 in the first day started with stock GB, after i did CM7, MiUi, Darky... but i didn't get comfortable with neither, so i decided to stay stock for the moment and went with the JVO + CF-Root, definetly a good start for a root beginner (noob)
beware: if you get the flash / root bug, you'll never get over it, its like a f. virus
the best is cm7 but damnn!!! i cant use video call , now on jv9 + fugumod..

Well said mate. I've said more than once on this site that if you install a clean rom over the remnants of old
Roms then don't blame the new rom for any bugs. Make sure it's a totally clean, full flash, then judge.
I've never had a drain problem for example and flashed lots of roms. Not always, but occasionally I do a "full" belt and braces flash which involves format internal sd, factory reset, flash new rom, factory reset. Maybe a bit over the top, but it's prevented problems for me and I've run jv1, a,b,h, and now o after eclair and froyo and loads of custom roms too

I'll second surface. Seems to be one of the more stable JVR roms out there. Just make sure you follow the flashing instructions to the letter or you'll have problems.
I think the question is - why a custom rom? What do you want in a custom rom? Look through the specs and make your choice. For me, stock JVR, rooted with twlauncher 4.5 from frogger. does everything I want.

Experience htc sense on your galaxy. For those of you who think they are stuck with samsungs touchwiz, try this htc sense 2.1 it's infinitely better (in my opinion ).
This rom is work in progress but i have just tried it and is getting very close to my experience on my old htc desire. There are a few bugs as of now but the developer appears to be getting very close to a complete version.
Try it, there will be no going back!!

Contains a addon app so you get to decide what app stays and what goes. (remove and add feature)

CWM now converts to ext2 and has the goodies like OC / OV
Hello,
I started a thread like this a couple of days ago and then decided to whack on Galnet MIUI. I gotta tell u, i love this ROM, I don't think I'll ever change from it. The reason why I didn't get it before was that you needed Froyo bootloaders but with the new 'twooey' named ROM, you can just install it like any other gingerbread ROM.
It's really quick, amazingly customisable. The themes are great and all the new features leaves your phone feeling like a brand new thing, you have to explore all the options and settings again.
Before this ROM, I'd tried most gingerbread ROMs and I prefer this by far.
Anyway, hope you find the ROM your looking for

No it's definetely not laggy.
As for the battery, I've seen a lot worse. I mean, It's not great, but you can still get 1 1/2 days out of it with moderate usage. But bare in mind my battery isnt fully calibrated yet, I'm hoping it will go up to 2-3 days after a few charging session.
I would say, make sure you give it a go before making your mind up about it.
Another plus for it is it's based on CyanogenMod which means it's constantly in development whereas Samsung based ROMs more or less have to wait for Samsung to release new beta roms to continue development in the same way.

How good is MIUI? Is there any official guide to flash that ROM since i dont know much about this stuff..
Well I'm on gingerreal 1.1.9 JVT and have to say its a very very strong ROM - I've added thunderbolts tweaks 2.2 and Semaphore kernel 2.1.1 JVZ - and the ROM is very smooth and quick. It is also quite stable with no reboots, FCs or applications/functions not working. The latest one based on JVZ is out but I haven't tried that. I also use GO Launcher EX instead of TW and the response feels quicker and smoother. Overall I'm pretty happy with it instead of stock - I get about 1 day battery life with heavy usage and up to 2 days with moderate to light usage.
you have to try them all to see whitch one really fits your needs... =)
start at least with the three most popular, the most active and the most up to date xda samsung custom ROMs:
- Jetpack Mod
- Symplicity
- S.U.R.F.A.C.E.
some (relative) new ones that may be interesting (diferent category):

- ...
but there are even more custom ROMs...
certainly try CM7, Insanity, MIUI and ICS

Thanks Sam. Yesterday I flashed MIUI 1.12.23 and till now i see a lot improvement. Response is good. No FC or Reboots so far. Nice and clean UI with useful options. Kinda looks like iPhone. LoL..
I had 2 ROMs in mind. The most popular, CM7 and MIUI. I saw a problem with CM7 that it doesnt have native gmail and other google app support. So immediately shifted to MIUI.
I believe, just like ROM, a fast kernel is also important for overall snappy experience. Which one do you suggest? Is semaphore 2.2.0 is really good?
I know all custom kernels/roms are good but just asking for the fast and stable one.

I guess any custom rom is better than stock. Have tried rocketrom and checkrom so far, and they are both a flight to remember. We Swedes don't seem to get very rescent uppdates through Kies or OTA updater either. Im guessing checkrom is the best way to go right now, but thats mainly because it seems to me that 4 persons are developing that and rocketrom is being developed by one person. May be wrong but that my impression. Checkroms hardware accelerated UI and browser are a real treat as well.
If you wish to overclock then just get the XDA-member-free version of set-cpu and use it with a custom ROM of choise, but you won't need to in order to get rid of the lag. It will be quite gone anyway.

Robbie's DarkyRom is the way to go in my opinion. Well worth a try.
when saying hardware accelerated UI, it only applies to TW, right, and not 3rd party launchers? ADW, specifically.

If you haven't already check out the latest stock ROM LA4. That is the fastest of the stock ROMS. If that doesn't solve it you can try out custom ROMS. I like Cassie's Lite ROM v6. Well, I've tried to get the latest stock rom but I'm not sure what I'm doing. I have been flashing roms since forever (Windows Mobile and Galaxy S) but I have obviously forgotten everything.
Right now I'm rooted on KK4 and I've bought Odin Mobile Pro. Not sure I really need OMP, but oh well.

And I just need to follow the steps starting with 1.Easy way is Mobie Odin Pro.?

Actually, I recommend staying away from Odin.
Read this article it should help a lot.

I'm using KK4 stock ROM from Hong Kong. No lag whatsoever. My Note really flies now.
I have rooted using Chainfire's method using the exploit mentioned in the above quoted article (without using Odin). Then used Titanium Backup Pro to freeze all stock apps that are memory hogs in Touchwiz, e.g. Media Hub, Social Hub, etc.
Then also used Rom Toolbox to change the SD boost settings (in performance) to 2048kb. I still use the SGN in power saving mode and have Juice Defender Ultimate set to "balanced" to extend battery, nevertheless my SGN is fast, smooth and has no lag at all.

You are wrong.. Using odin for flashing stock firmwares doesnt increase ur binary counter.. Just dont flash custom roms using odin... My suggestion is to use latest firmwares like kla4 or kla6 to reduce lag.. And yes you can use mobile odin for flashing them.. Binary counter wont get increased as it is stock.. But mind you, the latest firmwares cannot be rooted directly.. So you will lose rooting benefits.. So if u want a rooted latest kla4 or kla6,flash a custom rom using it using cwm recovery not odin.. I m using rocket v21 wid abyss 3.5 now
I'm using stock firmware/rom and getting no lag.
The only slight delay I ever get is the wakeup time or when opening sms messages/contacts, it may take several seconds to open.
As for menus/apps it is silky smooth for me thanks to a custom launcher & spareparts+

Can I flash N7000XXLA6 (Russia) and still keep the current language (swedish)?
Yeah you can flash, but there is not much difference between LA4 and LA6 except the Russian language i guess. The Lag free update LA4.
Ok, I'll skip LA6 then. I did notice a difference in the browser, it seems there's no horizontal scroll lock when scrolling vertical. I dont think it was like that before?
I dont like the feeling of it, hope they will change it back...
I am on stock Xlt5 rom and philz kernel with all bloats removed (including kies etc). My rom was good for a couple of days but then it started to lag and now it lags as much as a few seconds when I click to do something. I have tried many custom roms but the custom roms always have some issues. I like stock look because I don't do any fancy tricks with my phone. I use my phone as a tool so I would like to see it as stock as possible without extreme tweaks. I have also flashed some other stock roms with bloat removed and I get the same lags after a few days. So now I am about to just ditch this phone as I have come to believe the JB update on this phone is total crap. The same 4.1.2 on samsung galaxy s2 is great and buttery smooth but on note we have nothing but headaches in hand.
I would like to know which stock rom and kernel is without lags or with minimum lags and without any bugs.
Thanks in advance for your input.
