I'm currently running cm9 alpha .05 on my HP Touchpad. Might sound stupid but can I upgrade directly to alpha 2 or should I first upgrade to .06 and 1?
And is it true that alpha 2 is less stable than the previous cm9 alpha releases? thanks!
You should probably wipe the cache and dalvik cache in clockworkmod before flashing alpha 2, I'm running alpha 2 and its a definite improvement on alpha 0.6, HD video and YouTube videos are good.

Hi, I need to flash a newer version of CM9 and i need to know which one has less bugs, RC2 or latest nightly or should i flash CM10.
The latest nighlties should be continuations of RC2. They are also RC2 with some bugfixes. You can take the nightlies. I would wait a bit for stable CM10.
Install CM9 for the time being [https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...ich-4-0-4-in-samsung-galaxy-s-g-t-i9000.125/]
CM10 is a bit sluggish now, give it a little time to mature.

Nightly ROMs are not stable as compared to normal versions and are released frequently. These are usually under testing and experimentation.
@Mayank77
Your definition is incomplete.
Nightly - A build issued by the dev (usually at night-time) that contains changes to source code. These builds are not always tested and thus cannot be called stable releases. They are released more frequently than RC's (release candidates).
Stable build/release candidate - A build that has gone through a lot of testing, and has a lot of bugs sorted out (fixed). These are not released as frequently as nightlies but are, as the name suggests, the most stable version of the ROM, before a next build comes up. These usually come after a series of ALPHA and BETA releases, that are not as stable as the RC or stable build.
If you're into science, you can think of the RC/Stable build as the control experiment and the nightlies as the test experiment.
I noticed get.cm has the last nightly on 5/12/2013, nothing since then. Any reason for that? I know CM team mentioned sometime back that they will not support CM9 once it is stable and focus on CM10. Just wondering.
Hi all,
I am thinking of putting Cyanogenmod on my galaxy note but noticed that the latest stable release is 9.1. I checked galaxy s and there is 10.1.2 stable for it.
Why is the stable releases of Cyanogenmod only upto 9.1? Ideally I would like to have the latest android release

It's because of the Exynos SoC that this phone uses. More details here:

If you want a (relatively) new and stable CyanogenMod then you can use the last 10.1 Nightly (Android 4.2.2):

Remember to download 10.1 and not 10 or 10.2

Interesting. So how stable are the nightly releases? Can they be used on a daily basis or are they full of bugs?
10.1 is very stable and 10.2 is good and is what I use as my daily driver with no problems as per my use internet, hotspot, games, and all normal phone usage text,MMS,and phone only thing 10.1 has in my opinion is slightly better battery and when it comes to nightlys the most current is the best to use. With all that said if you get it 10.2 you my have a random nightly that will cause a boot issue that my have to flash other stuff to get phone working right. Read ROM threads and make a choose as what is for you

So there was cm-10.2-20130814-NIGHTLY-quincytmo.zip released on 8/14 and cm-10.1.3-RC1-quincytmo.zip which was released on 8/28 as a release candidate. I'm confused on what the differences would be. Right now I've been running the 10.1 nightly's. In another post someone said the 10.2 was a 4.3 release, but wouldn't there be a stable release before a nightly release?
You had it right. They are trying to finish a 10.1 final, but there seem to be problems as the 10.1 branch just keeps going and going. The 10.1.3 is the latest attempt to close the door on Android 4.2.2 and move on to 4.3 exclusively.

But why is there a 10.2 nightly, wouldn't there first be a 10.2 stable? Should I keep going with the 10.1 nightly or should I download the 10.1.3 or 10.2?
The "stable" is the final release, its the last one. So night lies and M releases and RC's all come before Stable.
There are two branches being developed right now, 10.1.x, that has a "freeze" (no new features added) trying to get to a Stable final release, and 10.2 which will be what is developed from here on out.
What you run is up to you.
If you want new stuff just cause it is new I would suggest going with 10.2. It is not stable and reliable, but neither is 10.1 on our phones. To get something stable that doesnt randomly reboot you have to go back to the April M3 release or earlier.

Cool, thanks for the explanation.
On a side note I'm just waiting for the note 3 to come out hopefully in September and that it will have much more ROM support.
