So there was cm-10.2-20130814-NIGHTLY-quincytmo.zip released on 8/14 and cm-10.1.3-RC1-quincytmo.zip which was released on 8/28 as a release candidate. I'm confused on what the differences would be. Right now I've been running the 10.1 nightly's. In another post someone said the 10.2 was a 4.3 release, but wouldn't there be a stable release before a nightly release?
You had it right. They are trying to finish a 10.1 final, but there seem to be problems as the 10.1 branch just keeps going and going. The 10.1.3 is the latest attempt to close the door on Android 4.2.2 and move on to 4.3 exclusively.

But why is there a 10.2 nightly, wouldn't there first be a 10.2 stable? Should I keep going with the 10.1 nightly or should I download the 10.1.3 or 10.2?
The "stable" is the final release, its the last one. So night lies and M releases and RC's all come before Stable.
There are two branches being developed right now, 10.1.x, that has a "freeze" (no new features added) trying to get to a Stable final release, and 10.2 which will be what is developed from here on out.
What you run is up to you.
If you want new stuff just cause it is new I would suggest going with 10.2. It is not stable and reliable, but neither is 10.1 on our phones. To get something stable that doesnt randomly reboot you have to go back to the April M3 release or earlier.

Cool, thanks for the explanation.
On a side note I'm just waiting for the note 3 to come out hopefully in September and that it will have much more ROM support.

Does anyone know when will Cyanogen release CM9 [ICS] for SGS?
Eagerly awaiting it
Tx
Isn't it technically already out? Well, the alpha is... Look up teamhacksung ROM. It's the backbone to C9.
Don't ask for release dates is the first rule of CM. Me and a lot of other people are already running CM9, it's alpha so there are a few problems.
I recommend reading up on it otherwise you'll end up posting that you can't get into recovery and odin doesn't work.
I have been running Team hacksungs build 12 for a while now. Excellent ROM. I'm waiting for build 14 as 13 seems to have issue...Great ICS...much better than gingerbread IMO.
Hey guys, i am curious if cyanogen is going to support our O2X for next big update to 4.3 JB. I don't think they will support 5.0, but at least this can be somehow useful and I am worried that all developers will jump to another devices and we will get stuck at nightlies. What do you think?
you can't predict it yet. I'm trusting in our developers though, nothing is impossible.

Is cm even going to release a stable cm 10.1, or will we remain nightlies only? I have turned to devs instead of the regular cm rom anyway, cm isn't that stable on the p990.

Many of us abandoned official CM for the releases by pengus77 and tonyp on the new bootloader. RC seems adamant on supporting the old bootloader despite its problems, as he feels a lot of users aren't knowledgeable enough to NVFlash their phones and doesn't want an influx of support questions. And he and official CM don't seem to be paying any attention to the fixes made by pengus which make some functions actually work (i.e. wifi hotspot) and improve stability a lot.
Hi all,
I am thinking of putting Cyanogenmod on my galaxy note but noticed that the latest stable release is 9.1. I checked galaxy s and there is 10.1.2 stable for it.
Why is the stable releases of Cyanogenmod only upto 9.1? Ideally I would like to have the latest android release

It's because of the Exynos SoC that this phone uses. More details here:

If you want a (relatively) new and stable CyanogenMod then you can use the last 10.1 Nightly (Android 4.2.2):
http://goo.im/devs/cm/n7000/nightly
Remember to download 10.1 and not 10 or 10.2

Interesting. So how stable are the nightly releases? Can they be used on a daily basis or are they full of bugs?
10.1 is very stable and 10.2 is good and is what I use as my daily driver with no problems as per my use internet, hotspot, games, and all normal phone usage text,MMS,and phone only thing 10.1 has in my opinion is slightly better battery and when it comes to nightlys the most current is the best to use. With all that said if you get it 10.2 you my have a random nightly that will cause a boot issue that my have to flash other stuff to get phone working right. Read ROM threads and make a choose as what is for you

Nightly versions are not considered stable. You can expect some bugs and issues when using nightly versions but in general they are relatively stable, you might not notice any bugs at all. You really have to test them to know, they are automatically compiled (not tested) so one version might be very stable and the version 2 days later can have some issues. If you are comfortable dealing with minor issues and flashing roms then you should be fine. If you want a 100% stable phone then nightly versions might not be for you.

There is no stable release of CM12 yet and don't expect one soon. I think they never released a stable version of cyanogenmod for the M7. The most "stable" version released were snapshot versions of CM11. If you are unsure about using nightly version then wait for the first CM12 snapshot version. Snapshot version is the most stable nightly of the month.

yeah, about snapshot i was talking, but thers isnt any release yet , so i will try the nightly !
I'll be dead honest. If you are looking for rock stable then stay stock. All roms have issues. Mainly for devices like the m7
What about gpe edition ?

When I say stock I meant official releases and as this version of a device with both OEM and gpe then both can be considered stock. So it's up to you which one you go wirh
Hello everyone,
I've always liked CM and the different features it offers, so I was planning to flash latest Snapshot since I would like to use it as my daily driver. What's your experience with it? Any major bugs? Is it stable enough? Or should I consider something else, such as Xposed + some modules (such as GravityBox)? I'm currently running latest stock build 5.1 (LPE23.32-14.2).
Thanks for your help.
The latest snapshot isn't bad, but I've had more success with the nightlies simply because they have patches that haven't made it into the snapshot builds yet. I'd say try out a couple nightlies and just stick with one that doesn't have any issues for you.

Could you recommend any nightly in particular to begin with?
I'm on the 10/25 nightly and haven't run into any major issues yet.
