I need help, I have GT-I9228 from china and tried to load N7000 using Odin and it failed.
I have read some where that I can replace with N7000 ROM and now end up with message "SOFTWARE UPDATE FAIL" message. I can still go into the boot loading menu.
Appreciate if any one could help me to the orginal ROM file also help to unbrick.
Thanks.
i dont think this post belongs here...
1) This is so far from posted in the right section it ridiculous. This is a DEVELOPMENT forum for the N7000. NOT A QUESTIONS FORUM FOR THE I9228.
2) You really should read more before you just start flashing crap.
3) It's not bricked if it boots, learn your terminology, even if English isn't your first language.
4) Find yourself a stock GT-I9228 ROM and flash it via Odin.
5) Enjoy having a device that works.
6) Don't try flashing anything else until you have read 25 articles about your device with a minimum of 10 hours spent doing that reading.
7) Rejoice, I saved you more heartache.

Why did you get a GT-I9228 when you know it's not a standardized version like the N7000?

Here's a link to I9228ZMKL4 ROM.
Flash it using ODIN.

You can never flash a N7000 ROM because your phone has a different modem than ours. You should have done your research before buying your phone. Your phone has the proprietary China baseband TD-SCDMA. It could even be running a different processor so it's not possible to install a N7000 ROM ever for your phone. If you can successfully root your phone, you might be able to manually install Play Store by pushing Vending.apk to /system/app
Thank you very much for your help. I will try this now.

Hello all,
During my travels in China, I picked up a GT-I9228G galaxy note.
Back in the UK now, and hoping I could change the rom to the english varient of GT-N7000? I am assuming GT-I9228G and GT-N7000 is the same device, just different regional roms(?).
The boot screen is chinese. It has chinese apps on it which I cant remove and no app store amongst other things. Ideally, would like to make the phone all english. Is this possible?
Just a bit of background on me:
I used to own a HTC PDA which I swap roms from developers here and very familair with jail breaking on apple products. Andriod however is new to me. I am a quick learner, so any pointers would be great please guys/gals.

I guess you could... Lots of other people bought their galaxy note from Hong Kong and also from china and they all changed their ROM for a same reason of yours.
Does not the 9220 using a snapdragons and not exynos? I not sure but I thing I have read it somewhere so carefully before flashing.

So, potentially I could just change to the one below?
N7000XXKKA ## 2.3.6 2011 November N7000CPWKK3 United Kingdom (Carphone Warehouse) Download
The box says 1.4 + <insert chinese characters here>
From wiki -A dual-core 1.4Ghz Exynos processor or a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S3 processor (AT&T, SK Telecom, KT, LG U+)
So my guess is Exynos. Anyway to double check?
ok, so I have downloaded the above rom and Odin3 v1.83 from sammobile.
I have opened Odin3 and specified the PIT file (Q1_20110914_16GB)
I have also ticket re-partition, auto reboot and F.reset timer.
I have loaded the rom under PDA (N7000XXKKA_N7000CPWKK3_N7000XXKK5_HOME.tar), everything else is unticked.
I have the phone in download mode ready.
I just need to know if the above is ok or am I missing anything before I click START and brick my phone?
Thanks,
Chris.
well I tried anyway.
That didnt work.
Now the phone says "software update fail"
I can still get into download mode, buts thats about it.
tried with and without the PIT file.
Anyone know what I should do now please?
I'd say you'll have to find a rom for that model
maybe http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9220&r=2#regiona
You might have bricked your phone by checking repartition in odin. You should not have. Now you probably need to find a pit file for your model.

If you could enter download mode then try these steps
1. Open Odin and flash Pit file only and Re-partition ticked. (do not attach any ROM)
2. After this again flash ROM without pit file and re-partition un-ticked
This should work.

Thanks,
The first part seemed to work ok, so then went onto flashing again without the PIT file. Failed
Back to square one (software update fail message).
Going to try the original ROM, but takes about 6 hours to download from china!.
Ideally, really dont want to use the original ROM though! I'm guessing the original ROM isnt going to work now anyway since ODIN3 has re-partitioned the device(?).

I am also doing this on a macbook via Boot camp (windows partion). Maybe it has a problem with that. Will try it on a normal PC too.
Any other suggestions before I head home from work and play later?
Oh, I forgot to mention. I read somewhere (forgot where) that I should root the device prior to changing the ROM. Is that true? If so, I dont think thats something I can do in current state

you can try flashing kernel with CWM in PC Odin, then flash any Custom ROM using CWM Recovery.

CWM is clockworkmod right? Dont I need a rooted phone in order to install it?
Or do I follow something like this? http://whatareandroidphones.net/root-samsung-galaxy-note.html
Yes... CWM recovery doesn't need root.
hello,
Didnt have the time to work out CWM, but was given a link to another rom which had three files for ODIN3 (http://hotfile.com/dl/149302861/1896440/N7000XXLA6_N7000XEULA1_XEU.rar.html).
So, loaded the above and the phone is back in action on a N7000 rom. Wohoo. Just glad it's working again more then anything else lol!
This rom is prerooted apparently too. know idea what I should be able to do now. What does one usually do when they have a rooted device?

Hello everybody
I have Galaxy Tab 7" GT-P1000 WiFi/3G
Model number:
GT-P1000
Firmware version:
2.2
Baseband version:
P1000JXJM2
Kernal version:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build number:
FROYO.JVJM5

As you see it's the old good froyo, but I think it's time for changing
And that's my question, To WHAT ?
First, you have P1000, that means you have phone functionality. Not only wifi/3G.
Second, there are many posts asking theis questions over and over again...
and usually Priyana answers them with the exact answers. So I'm going to borrow his/her answer:
Go to team overcome and follow their installation instruction "From froyo"
http://www.teamovercome.net/
There you will have a choice "GB-Stock-safe" (Gingerbread stock pre-rooted)) and Overcome Rom (Based on GB2.3.6 pre-rooted).
if you want to try the new ics later on, I suggest install gb-stock-safe and continue install the overcome KERNEL only. Don't install Overcome ROM.
The instruction maybe overwhelming and you may get bootloops if you do a wrongthing. So follow it carefully.
G
Thank You
I know that post of teamovercome forum and still have headache from reading it
It's very complicated so I think it's good idea to stay with the Froyo.
I guess sticking to Froyo will work.... but I think there are more apps available if you are on ICS...

Hey man, you need to decide if you want to do more with your g-tab or not.
BUT words of warning: DON'T jump into the swimming pool if you're afraid getting drowned.
I was exactly like you just last year and of course as everyone else here, I started by simply learn how to root my Tab. With froyo, it is as easy as ONE MOUSE CLICK after you downloaded the correct .exe program on your computer.
Most countries already get GB upgrades via Kies ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. Some unlucky countries stuck in froyo and that's when they come to xda forum to learn new things.
THANKS
My Tab is already rooted.
What you means by " ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6", the kernal version or the firmware version ?
I upgraded once time only using the Kies but it's still Froyo as you see in my post.
You are right abut the swimming therefore I need to prepare myself good enough to start that process.
the best roms!
try these two masterpieces of dizgustipated:
boca msi
or
blindmooke
just go to the respective rom's thread in this section for instructions.
but first, as the posters before me said, you have to follow the instructions in www.overcome.net. when you get to the part of flashing the rom, use the above-mentioned roms instead of overcome.
happy flashing!
Here, a very easy to follow going to Gingerbread stock, follow carefully:
You can download any official firmware at http://fus.nanzen.se/
1a. Download Fus Check Downloader 2.1 from the above site. Using the Fus Check downloader, download a Firmware for your region. It will automatically decode the .enc2 file to.zip file
(For your case choose GT-P1000)
Extract .zip file to get .md5 or .tar
1b. Download Odin3-v1.85
1c. Download this pitfile from following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=631856&d=1308653969
1d. Download this dbdata from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=935230&d=1331091172
2. Start Odin - put the .md5/.tar to PDA
Put the pitfile from step 1b to the PIT
Check re-partition. Leave everything else as is.
3. Go to download mode on the G-tab, connect to ur computer
and click start on Odin. It takes about 6 to 7 minutes to do the flashing.Once done flashing it will reboot but mostlikely you still have problems with your tab.
4. Reboot to download mode again. Reset Odin (make sure re-partition unchecked), put dbdata from step 1c to PDA, leave everything else as is. Reconnect your G-Tab to computer, click start on Odin.
5. When Dbdata is successfully put into your G-tab, reboot to recovery mode, do a factory reset wipe, and data cache wipe.
Reboot system, wait for about 5 minutes for the tab to boot up, you should be all set.
Note: as always, you are responsible for your own device. I'm not responsible if anybody break his/her device following the above instruction.
yappoe, Thank You very much
1- Please check the links for the pitfile and the dbdata file -Error 404 Page Not Found
2- Can I choose another country than the one where the Tab was purchased ?
3- In the zip file there is another file called SS_Dl.dll. What about it ?
Gb has better video player and music player 5.1 . Can play sky go too. Theres lots of ways to get it looking like ics. Whilst still on gb.

disregard the .dll file.

hello there,
i had to do a factory reset, and whatever i try now i simply get a black screen after bootup and a message like "twlauncher stopped" ("twlauncher angehalten", german version) which i can just confirm, that's all.
tried this w/o any success: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1733184
does anyone have an idea what to do?
thanks in advance

The thread you applied for is for SII., I beleieve you possess S-Note. First of all, the details of your device, such as GB or ICS, Stock or Custom Rom, and which kernel. The members could give you their expert advice only when they know full details of the problem. It is OK. Can you go to downloading mode? ie Volume down + Power buttons for 10 secs. if so flash a stock GB thru PC-Odin. Read relevant threads how to flash GB vis PC-Odin.
thanks for the quick answer, i feared that re-flashing might be the only way.
never did that before, but the howtos i saw did look pretty good
as of now i have stock rom, rooted on it.

flashing a GB rom thru PC-Odin is a detailed procedure. 1. download PC-odin and install it on your PC. 2. Select a Stock GB of your choice (may be your country). 3. check what setting to be there in PC-Odin etc. But all these details are available in the forum. dr.ketan guide in this forum is very usefull. before flashing, read everything, only when you are confident, do it.
Thanks for the hint, did as described in the "dr.ketan guide" using the german open stock rom and everything is back to normal again.
Hello there,
I may be new to this forum but I have plenty of experience playing about with computer and phone workings and have long had my Galaxy Ace routed and have had a number of custom ROM's installed over time. However, today, while upgrading my Galaxy Ace to 4.4, the phone failed to install it saying "Installation aborted" (status: 7). I have restored the original ROM and all that rubbish but when I went to reboot, it has bricked :crying: on the Galaxy Ace name screen....HELP!
I use my phone for everything and any help on how to sort this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Wrong section mate ...
You must read rules before posting nothing, so the next time go to Q&A THREAD, we need to contribute to keep clear General Thread
Anyways you can ask for this issue in the rom's thread
Thank you for understanding it
Don't worry, you can use Odin to flash a fresh Stock rom or try to do via CWM; wipe data/factory, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik-cache and finally, restore your last functional backup. It should work
Use ODIN to flash the stock rom
Its also happened to my ace,try to relash it via odin to stock gingerbread and stuck at download mbib for 5 hours

If this problem arises, then try renaming the ops file to cooper_v1.0.ops. That should solve it.
Hello. I was hesitant to start a new thread, but there are a lot of threads in this section of the forums, and i keep getting an error when trying to use the "Search this forum" bar. Anyway, I have a rooted 6.0.1 Note 5 (DPG1 update) with TWRP 3.0.2-1 and am trying to flash stock rom back to Lollipop. I am using ODIN with the firmware file named thusly "N920TUVU1BOH6_N920TTMB1BOH6_N920TUVU1BOH6_HOME.tar". I first tried flashing with the .md5 extension on the end, but it failed as well as with the .tar extension. I've looked quite a bit on the forums, as well as on the web, and anything i have found say it is as simple as ODIN flashing stock rom through download mode. any suggestions, or tips? am I going about this totally wrong? need more information from me? please let me know, any feedback is appreciated. thank you.
EDIT: I am looking to completely remove root from my device, including restoring stock recovery; trying to sell device. thanks again.

What firmware did your device ship with? If it didn't come with BOH6 ( which mine didn't ) I don't believe you can flash it, I could be wrong but only flash with the earliest the phone came with. I can't think of any other reason Odin wouldn't work as I flash back and forth all the time between PD1 I can't think of the last 5.1.1, I've been on 6.0 roms for about a month.
I see. It doesn't necessarily have to be lollipop that I use to flash, that is just what the site recommended, could I use the latest marshmallow? Or does it have to be the version that shipped with the device? Because I do not have that information sadly. Perhaps you could link me to something that is sure to work? As long as I am removing root, I am ok with what I end up with. Thanks again!
