[Q] Installing CWM on Galaxy POP GT S 5570

My friend want to upgrade his phone,
and asking me to do so.
I know few things and not a noob but also not a dev or a pro.
Thus i want to ask a question:
He is having an unrooted Galaxy POP GT S 5570 with stock 2.2 froyo
Question is that
Can i directly flash CWM recovery 4.0.0.5 using odin
that is just flashing tass.ops and tass-recovery-cwm.tar ???
Because somewhere i read that CWM requires GingerBread on GT S 5570 to work?
And i know that it is very difficult to unbrick for users like me and sometimes impossible for noobs.
I'm having Xperia X8
And sony ericcson devices are very easy to unbrick using official SONY UPDATE SERVICE SOFTWARE.
If there is something like the above one, for SAMSUNG,
Please tell me?

well, I think cwm 4.0.0.5 will not work on froyo.. there was once a CWM made specially for froyo and you can get it from here:

Problem is that there is no more development for froyo.. so for any questions and issues that you may encounter, you will have to figure it out yourself..
Why not upgrade the phone to GB? It would a lot easier and developement is concentrated on this version. you can flash with Odin tool to upgrade the phone to GB. flash cwm 4.0.0.5 from there and you can start installing custom roms on it. you can choose to update cwm as well since current one is 5.0.2.6..

I'm reading and searching on these things.
Now the actual thing that i want is
A backup of the current state.
But if is 100 % sure that GT-S5570_INU_S5570DDKQ7_S5570ODDKQ6_S5570DDKQ7.rar
file will upgrade to GB and works well, then no need of backup.
Ok i had understood all the things .
I would surely upgrade my friends phone and install CWM and provide him with a big list of CUSTOM ROMS which devs are developing at our beloved XDA FORUMS.

Stock roms can't be backed up. only custom roms can be backed up.

you have to flash tass recovery via odin

GT-I9228 failed while loading N7000 ROM

I need help, I have GT-I9228 from china and tried to load N7000 using Odin and it failed.
I have read some where that I can replace with N7000 ROM and now end up with message "SOFTWARE UPDATE FAIL" message. I can still go into the boot loading menu.
Appreciate if any one could help me to the orginal ROM file also help to unbrick.

1) This is so far from posted in the right section it ridiculous. This is a DEVELOPMENT forum for the N7000. NOT A QUESTIONS FORUM FOR THE I9228.
2) You really should read more before you just start flashing crap.
3) It's not bricked if it boots, learn your terminology, even if English isn't your first language.
4) Find yourself a stock GT-I9228 ROM and flash it via Odin.
5) Enjoy having a device that works.
6) Don't try flashing anything else until you have read 25 articles about your device with a minimum of 10 hours spent doing that reading.
7) Rejoice, I saved you more heartache.

Why did you get a GT-I9228 when you know it's not a standardized version like the N7000?

You can never flash a N7000 ROM because your phone has a different modem than ours. You should have done your research before buying your phone. Your phone has the proprietary China baseband TD-SCDMA. It could even be running a different processor so it's not possible to install a N7000 ROM ever for your phone. If you can successfully root your phone, you might be able to manually install Play Store by pushing Vending.apk to /system/app

[SOLVED] Bricked misusing Odin

I have been around the xda forums for a while, but never got to register. Anyway, I am not a complete noob neither am I a dev, let's say an electro fan. My sister just bought a brand new junk S5570, she has been having trouble with the very limited internal memory that is already fall of bloatware, even SMSs could not be displayed due to the shortage of memory, I tried to move everything to the SD with no chance, Samsung's shtware is there to stay. I decided to install CM7.2 which I had already successfully installed on many handsets. I rooted the ****5570 and have been having trouble installing CWM because Odin v4+ just doesnt detect the phone what ever I do, use different drivers with no luck at all, but the weird thing is that its detected by Odin v1.85, I accidentally flashed cwm.tar using Odin v1.85 and now the only thing I can access is download recovery mode (not recovery mode). Now Odin still detects it, I want to know how to flash a stock firmware using Odin v1.85, please guys help me I'm in a really embarrassing situation and my sister is not aware of what happened, she has been dreaming about an android phone for ages and it's certainly devastating to see her beloved phone turned into a paperweight please help me guys and quick

ONLY 4.38 will work. Other Odin versions can mess up the phone. Go to samfirmware.com, download s5570 stock ROM for your country, get Odin 4.38, tass.ops and flash. After it flashed, hold home+power until stock recovery comes up, then wipe data and you will have a stock ROM.

the normal recovery doesnt show up anymore, the recovery I mentioned is called download mode and its used for Odin

thanks everyone (i hit thanks button) the phone is fixed, i found out that i have a s5570i not s5570, it has a 832mhz cpu and its similar to the galaxy young, its called galaxy mini plus:victory::victory::victory:

I thought that the suffix "i" indicates its region, just like Sony does, for example ST25i means international, while ST25a indicates america

[Q] S Advance broke down, please this n00b really needs help!!

Hi guys,
I have a rooted galaxy s advance, and everything just worked fine for half a year or so but suddenly it wouldn't start on anymore..
I was trying to reboot it but it stops when showing the samsung galaxy s advance logo..
I've tried everything for as far as i know, reboot, wipe cache, factory reset..
I have the stock rom jb 4.1.2 xxlqe (dutch) installed, no mods..
I don't know if and how it's possible to put a custom rom(or stock rom again) on it because i can only access it via download mode..
I've exhaustively searched for a clear how-to but it's really unclear to me how to do it..
I've searched for people with similar problems but never found a solution..
The how-to's i find are so elaborate, and in great numbers so a good one is hard to find, i don't know what to do..
Does it matter which country you are from, what version of stock rom you have, does a custom rom include side effects?
I really need a simple step-by-step guide, if anyone could refer me to one i would die for it..
I am desperate! :crying: Really really thanks in advance!

You should flash a firmware compatible with your device using Odin, just search it here. You'll find.

I accidently updated an unrooted Samsung stock ROM that shipped with the phone with cyanogen_mod
_7_tass in my attempt to root my Samsung Galaxy mini s5570 using update.zip method.
I had intended to used the "update.zip" method to root the device. But the ROM MOD instead, sadly had also been "update.zip".There was a mix up of the two files.Theres unfortunately no Clockworkmod Recovery installed. (I was quite aware of this possibility if things were to go wrong.).
My Device runs on Froyo and now is in a bootloop.
I just only want to find out if there is the slimest chance of having my device back in shape again.

You must reinstall again stock rom (programs needed: Odin,tass.ops and drivers for galaxy mini s5570). On xda you'll find step by step reverting back to stock rom your galaxy mini. Btw read carefully every step to understand those things and after you can practice. Check general section for Odin and installing stock rom.

After a whole day of no-work and goofing around the web yesterday i figured out somthing similar but just wasnt sure ...felt i needed to search some more. then your quote dropped in my inbox. Its made a lot of my confusion clear. I have tass, odin and ops. all the programs need already. At first i could access the stock rovery mode, but using odin again to try and get Clockworkmod made matters worse. I have with a bootloop and no where close to the recover mod any more just downloading mode. So I've kept reading and reading on to find out something useful. I guess that may be the sure way getting stock rom installed back.
Now i am just downloading .. s5570 galaxy mini firmware--- is that the same thing as stock ROM?

That's it man...Official firmware is called the stock rom...
