Can anyone here find names for addresses? I cannot seem to find anything. Apparently someone from a place I've never heard of is using my social security number and filed taxes with it, and the Georgia dept of revenue won't do anything. I need some help

Is this an official app from paypal? anyone can confirm this?
Yeah, I thought it was a phish too. works fine with me.
Just because the app works doesn't mean its not a scam. I tried searching on paypal's website about them making an android but didnt come up with anything. Does anyone have anything to prove this app is really created by paypal?
Btw paypal does have an app for the iphone so this is very plausible but I would just like to make sure before I give the wrong people access to my money.

I don't think T-Mobile would let this app slide if it was not from PayPal.
And yes PayPal has a app for the iPhone, so I would think this is PayPal's Android APP. & they never said anything about making a app for iphone either so.
T-Mo gets little say in what happens with apps. they can ask google to remove apps that breach ToS but that's it. i wouldn't trust the app until you have proof that PP made it themselvs
I just emailed paypal about this app just to make sure I'll inform you guys

Hmm I uninstalled this and changed my password.
I called paypal and talked to them the rep said they can't confirm this yet...
But once they do I will re-download this.
Yea, I downloaded this and it pulled my history in ok, but after some thinking, I too decided to uninstall and change my password. Hopefully someone will post something when they hear it so that we can know its safe.
Keep us updated!
I never thought I would say this but safety is one thing the apple app store has over the android market. I'm an iphone hater, well iphone user hater. Arrogant SOBs.
I was thinking about downloading it, then looked at the paypal site and they didn't mention it on their mobile page... plus it said the company name was "paypal mobile" and not "paypal"

I guess that is one of the aspect of a free and open market. Buyers or customer should also have some form of judgment and knowledge and not depend on the seller naively.
I rather have that, then being told what i can and can't do.

It's a legit app. However that does not change the fact that Paypal is staffed and directed by a cadre of a-holes.
Yeah it's legit, but paypal can be a bunch of *ahem* when you need to resolve a faulty transaction.
Can anyone post the apk of this, can't find it in the market anywhere. Even scanning teh barcode from cyrket.com it tells me it can't find the app.
Thanks
If you're not on 1.5, that could be the issue. The market is restricted by SDKs, so 1.1 users cannot see 1.5 only apps.
Got my phone rooted and using the latest mod from JesusFreak. Once again, appreciate it if anyone posts the apk of the app.
I have a friend who was told his partner was going to put a keystroker on his blackberry to log his activity....can this be done without possession of the phone?????

Does he like stroking his keys?
I think you mean keylogger, and it is possible if your friend is dumb enough to accept a random file from the other person and install it.
Yeah key logger... I agree and thats what I told him just dont accept anything from anyone you are not sure... but the person that has this plot in mind said they could have it installed wirelessly?? which I personally don't believe... but I want to make sure
To my knowledge I don't think that is possible, unless you are the police or someone evil working for the carrier, and are higher up in the company. Not like a sales rep.

Screw feasibility, his partner was log who he's contacting?! Sounds like somebody has some trust issues that should probably be considered first
I dont think its possible on a Blackberry
Has anyone seen this member? He and I participated in a transaction that went very bad, and payment to myself is still owed. It's been months since we last spoke, he doesn't reply via his PP account or email. His PP name is "Doris McWhite" and his email [email protected], so please let me know if you've dealt with him recently.
If you had a bad experience in the xda marketplace, your best bet would be to report to a moderator, not post openly about it. I'll look into this when I get to my desk.

I see this all the time and it really really bothers me. People that have done nothing other than read some forum posts that are readily available to anyone with an Internet connection are making money off of others hard work.
I just posted this to my local craigslist.
"Don't get scammed, all of the jailbreaking and rooting methods are available for FREE online.
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Android+Root
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=iPhone+Jailbreak
The odds that someone willing to root or jailbreak your phone for cash and being the person that created the method are approximately 0.
I say this because the developers of these methods do it as a hobby and share with their community.
So please, before you spend money on something you can do easily and for free, do a quick Google search.

I'm working on getting a laptop so that I can host "Free ROOTing events" at local coffee shops.
If you're with me I implore you to do the same. If there's a good reason why I shouldn't have done this, please let me know what I'm missing.
The people doing this aren't selling drugs or snatching purses. Is there really something wrong with perusing a legal source of income?
Also, the more people out there with rooted devices the better.

Some people are scared to and would rather let someone else do it as they're scared they'll go wrong, I would say it's okay if they state somewhere it can be done yourself for free
Do you also have a problem with car wahing services? I mean you can do it yourself for free but some people still pay to have it done. Or what about home renovations? Why pay when you can Do it yourself? If a person can google for Unlock/root phone and find the person charging for it surely they must have passed over hundreds of DIY instructions in the process.

I hope your kidding.
i think the op is right. theyre profiting off of someone elses work that is being used for profit UNKNOWINGLY
I don't mind them. I mean the people using these services are to stupid to do it themselves anyway, so they chose to pay. I repair computers, and have ads up, and usually you can do all of it yourself. I mean it's not that hard to do a fresh install of Windows.

But exploits have to be found, hours, if not days of work put into a root method for just ONE phone. That's not like just reinstalling windows, any schlep can do that.

BUt what we are talking about here is that it's ready to be done. Anyone can do it themselves with an internet connection. But they chose not to.
Thats the beauty of capitalism, if someone's willing to pay for a service, someone is willing to work and get paid to do that service.
Jordan is right, its the same as washing a car or installing windows. Plus we don't need more noob threads about how they botched the rooting process and bashing the devs because they didn't read the directions. Better to have someone who knows what their doing and get the job done right.

Which is why if a customer first tries to fix something himself, and THEN calls me, I charge them more if they messed something up.
It's not a scam.... It's a service....
Scam = people paying money to jailbreak a phone for you that doesn't actually jailbreak the phone....
Service = people don't know how or are afraid to jailbreak their phone in fear of bricking their device, or that don't have the expertise to do it themselves.
Personal recomdation, if you use craigslist find someone local, don't send off your phone.
Just got laid off a week ago and I already feel myself drowning in debt. Truth be told, I do not want to work loss prevention anymore, I'm actually looking into making a career out of selling phones (maybe district manager or something better in the future). Even though I have no experience, I think i know more than most of the people trying to sell you phones at any store because of my time spent on various forums but unfortunately it does not count and can't be put on my resume. So my point is, even if it isn't related to anything that I've mentioned and you live in my area and can help me, please let me know. I have 2 kids and many bills...
