I did it to my ROM it looks almost like Xperia S with some Xperia Apps and UI but I dont have permissions to do it so I cant share it with you sorry

system/app deleted

Hi, help needed. I rooted my phone recently. To free up some more space i deleted the folder <system/apps> thinking of it as backup apks of system apps.
Now the phone goes blank in seconds after starting. Please help.
PS: didnt install xrecovery after rooting.

What have you done???!!!! There's no app in your phone now!!!
Try installing a recovery with the X8 toolbox (search in the dev section) and flash a ROM.

Repair your phone with PCC, SEUS or Flashtool

Immediately use flashtool and flash stock firmware

i have the backup of that apps folder in my PC, if only, somehow i could copy it back.
if you could please provide links on doing recovery without xrecovery being installed,
or the usage of other tools aforementioned, that would help a lot.

go to this link and download 2nd one and install it,

if that zip is password protected, then use this password
androidstockromlibrary.blogspot.com
extract zip and put the *.ftf file into here, (only if you didn't changed the install location of flashtool)
C:\Flashtool\firmwares
then open flashtool and select flashmode and select x8 then press ok,
in few seconds a display will appear, take off battery in your phone and connect it to computer using usb,
now hold back button and insert battery, then green light will appear and stock firmware will flash

you should consider using the Update Service from Sony Ericsson, it's need internet connection on PC to download and flash Eclair, just try it..

Enter account details and unlock it.
If he has also forgotten that then,
download SEUS.then click on xperia x8.then connect phone in flashmode (i.e. switch off phone and connect it while holding back button)
click on update.then it will install latest software.
p.s. - data will be lost in seus.

Rooting

Hi I am a training dev from the HTC hero forum and I have had to have a replacement as my hero exploded (0mg) my new phone is the x8 and so far so good but can anyone help me so I can start runing ics and start developing for this phone
How do I root this as universal androot don't work

I used superoneclick for rooting. If you want ics, you need an unlocked bootloader. As for the x8, you can safely unlock your bootloader if you manufacturing date is 11w28 and below.

If you want to unlock the bootloader, read this or this. But don't forget to check the manufacturing date under the battery, if it's below 11W29 you can unlock your BL. If your phone's manufacture date is 11W29 or past 11W29, you shouldn't try it.

I have a immovable boot loader and its now rooted thanks but the unlocking of bl looks kind of difficult and I cant dl the files

Install Tor Browser Bundle and try again..
Normally we just use FlashTool to root, unlock bootloader & install kernels etc.. Saves using loads of different apps to accomplish the same result..

ixperia rom is not very good.. Looks very like ios but bits aren't even translated into english.. Buggy as hell..
Try GingerZaraki with alfs8a-CM7 - It's the best combo for our phones..

Null typing

Guys I know this issue has already been discussed before. I tried selecting csc tab in PC Odin and no luck mobile Odin says (partition could not be found in file). What am I doing wrong. I'm happily on paranoid cm9. But have know touchwiz back up. Any help would be great.

there are many help notes on this, its a common problem, search Dr ketans threads.
ive heard flashing the rom once again in pc odin helps
if its a ics rom be careful not to wipe/factory reset in recovery, reseting csc is wiping too

what did you select in the CSC tab?

You need to select the cache file in csc I believe.

yes that too will work but then you need to use mobile odin.

I tried pointing to the rom with the csc tab PC Odin no luck. I tried selecting cache in mobile odin and when I point to the rom it says partition could not be found in file. What am I doing wrong.

Extract the MD5 package with 7zip, you'll see a cache.img file.

I had the same problem. A workaround would be to install another keyboard like swiftkey x from play-store.

use the cache.img you get when you follow spydie's method in the cache part as shown below. (BE ON A SAFE KERNEL)

you need to use the same rom which is on your phone.
why are you extracting the factoryfs?
just once extract the tar.md5 file and you will see cache.img / or if its an old rom then there will be a file named CSC_blahblah

As nokiamodeln91 said, factory.fs is contained within the MD5 package, there should be cache.img also.
