Hi, help needed. I rooted my phone recently. To free up some more space i deleted the folder <system/apps> thinking of it as backup apks of system apps.
Now the phone goes blank in seconds after starting. Please help.
PS: didnt install xrecovery after rooting.
What have you done???!!!! There's no app in your phone now!!!
Try installing a recovery with the X8 toolbox (search in the dev section) and flash a ROM.
Repair your phone with PCC, SEUS or Flashtool
Immediately use flashtool and flash stock firmware

i have the backup of that apps folder in my PC, if only, somehow i could copy it back.
if you could please provide links on doing recovery without xrecovery being installed,
or the usage of other tools aforementioned, that would help a lot.

if that zip is password protected, then use this password
androidstockromlibrary.blogspot.com
extract zip and put the *.ftf file into here, (only if you didn't changed the install location of flashtool)
C:\Flashtool\firmwares
then open flashtool and select flashmode and select x8 then press ok,
in few seconds a display will appear, take off battery in your phone and connect it to computer using usb,
now hold back button and insert battery, then green light will appear and stock firmware will flash

From SD card after full repartition is quite unlikeley... But give it a go, maybe it works.

you should consider using the Update Service from Sony Ericsson, it's need internet connection on PC to download and flash Eclair, just try it..
Enter account details and unlock it.
If he has also forgotten that then,
download SEUS.then click on xperia x8.then connect phone in flashmode (i.e. switch off phone and connect it while holding back button)
click on update.then it will install latest software.
p.s. - data will be lost in seus.

I also face the same problem when i use Xperia X8. Here is the solution for to recover it.
Please search for Xperia x8/ Update Service setup in google and install the software in your PC then do the below steps.
1) switch off your phone
2) Press the back button continuously and connect the USB cable from your system to phone.
3) Then run the updated service. It will take nearly 30 minutes to complete the software updated process.

Looks like your build prop file has got screwed up...if rooted try looking at in a text reader just to see if info is there.
It won't harm your phone just that if you connect to pc companion or sus it won't recognise your phone or what version you got.
Don't think you will get ota either.
What does settings/about phone show.

it was ok there
but there is no new update since first firm ware ... 1.257
and now i try fix it with pc companion .. but even now .. there is no update can be found with ota or pc companion
You will need to use flashtools and flash you models ftf there is updates available for both c5302 and c5303.
Just search the general section.

Using flashtools select any one of these .257/.254 ftf files for your c5303 model. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367488
If you don't have flashtools Google for download link place the ftf into the flashtools folder/firmware
Then with phone connected in flash mode install this will update phone and hopefully sort out unknown info.

You won't get updates because your phone doesn't know what fw it's got on it.

i want to fix the ota problem... not using flash tools ... any idea ?

I am on rooted 108 firmware and I got NDR Recovery installed.
If I boot my device flash does not light at all and if I press volume up I get many vibrations but it does not go to recovery.
I also cant copy files to /system via root explorer.

Get a backup of your phone and unroot it and lock BL, and flash it by flash tools including wipe apps log and cache and system

Just download latest recovery installer and install it using PC.
Restart device and if it doesn't go to recovery (first time after reboot it should go to recovery to test
all)...

I just found out that system is not mounted ( cant write on it ). I dont know what happend..
EDIT: Reflashed NUT dual recovery and still nothing..
