[Kernel] Stock or custom [Solved] - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys
This is a noob question but which one is better?what is the reason that developers try to release their ROMs 4 stock kernels when they are custom ones out there?

Custom kernels can give you better performances and more options then Stock kernel. However, there are some phones that cant have their bootloader unlocked so they have to stick to stock kernel ( phone produced after 29th week of 2011 cant unlock bootloader).

As said by him , Custom ROM + Kernel give you a big boost in performance. If you can't unlock your bootloader go with GingerDX(the only one good for stock kernel)
if you can unlock go for GingerDX + Alfs kernel , by far the best in performance.

They still make roms for stock to support those who can't unlock their bootloader. For me, custom kernels are better, with only one problem: it drains a little bit more batt than the stock, but a boost in performance.
I use nAa-11 kernal, it have more updates then the others and a good performance. In nAa roms you have to use it, because the wifi is built in the kernel and not in the rom.
I hope it helped. Sorry my bad english
It the thanks if I helped

Tnx buddies
No currently i'm using nAa 11... i was just confused about this custom & stock stuff

Custom for sure, because it improves performance of your phone. And also does other stuff but i think you will not understand.

Custom all the way..
running gingerdx by far the best rom i have tried.
v003 is now up
doixanh is a god.
using Froyobread v22. Good and stable. (v23b is out but my X8 is lagging after a while. fall back to v22)
Go for Custom ROM
Wanted to try GingerDX but so far all ginerbread Roms can only support VGA camera.
I need 3.2MP camera badly.
Keep on waiting for breakthrough ROM.
Im in custom rom the swedroid rom based on froyobread

CUSTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM !
FroyoBread v023 and the next versions ahahah
FroyoBread v023 is the winner for me, maybe I'll switch to GingerDX when the camera is fully supported. And yes I know doixanh isn't interested in getting the camera working, so I won't request it from him. But there are other developers out there, so I still have hope.
absolutely CUSTOM ROM.. xD ...using kuyaDROID..fast,stable everything works fine.. (except the camera xD )..thumbs up for CUSTOM ROM!!! xD

Hmmm..i don't think so, even the ICS for stock has been stopped...i like what u asked from devs, cause I can't unlock bootloader too...but I think there will be new roms for.us....
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2
Developers tend to prefer custom kernels for the increased capabilities they offer. Its unfortunate, but thats just the way it is. I have an unlocked bootloader but im still using stock kernel for now. If the Rom your using isn't satisfying you, search for others n try a few. Im currently using LinuXperia v2 for stock kernel n its a great Rom ive had barely any issues with. You'll just have to look at other Roms that run on stock for now

Stock kernel must be satesfied with froyo.

maybe I can make some PIE for us!
hahaha...LOLz!!
just take a sit and keep try!
keep smiling while dev do the best for our little phone!

[Q] Safest-best- kernel+rom for note gt-n7000?

Hello. i want to sure not to mess with my father's not rooted galaxy note gt-n7000 so my questoin maybe lame but i had a bad experience rooting gs2 and without
i need to know what is the best and the safest kernel for the note. and best custom rom 4.1.2 based on touchwiz
i alredy downloaded Kernel_CM10.1_20130320_n7000_CWM.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789397 this will work fine ?
Thank you
If you flash that kernel you will have boot loop for sure that is a cm10.1 ROM kernel not touchwiz. And you have to be rooted to flash. I don't mess with toichwiz to much I use a cm10.1 ROM I build my self and theme my self but in the terms of kernels for touchwiz look into philz kernels they are safe and I do believe they can be flashed from stock recovery and will root the phone. As for ROMs they are all safe. JUST DONT FLASH ANY ROMS FROM STOCK ICS KERNELS. and also if you look into the how to root part of the ROM forum you will find a lot of info. Then just research the different ROMs to see which one is right for your use.

thanks for the info.. :good: ill do more reading .. i dont wanna mess things up..
hope PhilZ Touch will do the work
for TW JB there are only 2 kernels .. .Philz and Speedmod JB
Go for Philz, Best one (My experience) You will get good benchmark results, better battery life. Good rooted phone.

Yeah, for TW JB the best option is Philz kernel and Speedmod kernel. I myself prefer Philz Kernel. Suit yourself with one of both of them..
Any recommendations regarding custom rom? Touchwiz with good battery life 4.1.2

You would have to try them your self, all Rome differ and also depends on your use but tw in general is not to battery friendly IMO that's why I use cm ROMs very battery friendly

i recommend JonROM, It's very smooth and fast (no laggy), It's also has good battery life, using it with speedmod kernel to get the best performance.
