[Q] {SOLVED} IMEI blank after flashing SlimICS through CWM - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

- SOLVED! Flashed a different ICS Rom along with Semaphore kernel and everything works again!
Hey all!
I have a BIG problem... Yesterday I flashed SlimICS 2.9 on my friend's Galaxy S device through CWM. Installation went fine and system booted up OK. I quickly noticed that there was no mobile network available and I went to check the IMEI as I was suspecting the worst. The IMEI showed up as blank on the phone...
I checked the /efs folder and all the files were present (nv_data.bin and such). I also noticed that there was a /efs backup on the internal sdcard. I tried overwriting the files from the backup to the /efs folder on the root to no avail. Upon deleting the /efs folder or any files in the folder, they are automatically placed back. Why does that happen?
I cannot use the phone's usb port since it's broken.. so all has to be done from within the phone. (External sdcard still functions, ofcourse).
Spent a lot of hours searching and reading - I'm desperate!

There is an app "Mobile Odin" .. us this to flash stock firmware on your friend's phone.. I haven't used this app myself but it should work.. you can download the stock firmware from sammobile.com .. once you flash the stock firmware your IMEI number should be restored... then you can try flashing rom once again
PS: Please don't offer money like this.. donating to the developers of Roms and apps is enough.. they are the ones doing the main stuff..

Didn't know that Mobile Odin existed! Seems like a great program.. I installed it and upon opening it tells me that ''A compatible device was detected, but with unexpected partition layout. Mobile ODIN cannot operate. This is a common error on CM and MIUI ROMs on some devices.''
What ROM would I flash through CWM to get this app to work for me? Is Mobile ODIN incompatible with ICS?

UPDATE:
I flashed a different ICS Rom, Codename 1.5.6, and now the IMEI shows up when dialing *#06#! I was also able to unlock the SIM!
EDIT:
I was able to call! However Data connection does not work! Even with the right APN settings... Would this be caused by the firmware?

dont worry,i had the same bug.you have to flash another kernel,Glitch,or Semaphore for example...then you will get data connection

NO signal after flashing with odin and sim inserted ! help!

So i reflashed my rom with odin but i forgot to take out the sim now the phone says no signal even when the sim is not inserted. I have tried to flash again with no luck.
Originally i was on jm5 i re flashed to JM2 (this time with repartition) but no i have no signal. Have i broken the phone?
anyone pls!
I had the same problem.
The youtube videos all tell you to only input the PDA file. After flashing only this, everytime I started up I wouldn't get a signal. I thought I had an expensive paperweight on my 1st day.
However, try flash ALL the files at the same time. CODE_XXX goes into PDA, then MODEM_XXX into PHONE, and CSC_XXX into CSC. Make sure they are all ticked, select re-partition, and set it going.
Be warned that some of the later firmwares are Russian, but once your SIM is in and recognised it should automatically change the language to English.
This fixed my problems, haven't been scared to flash since
If this doesn't work, you can always just flash the old PDA of JM5 back. That originally fixed the problem for me, before I had the guts to try it all over again.
It worked1 i love you.
I'm sorry to reactivate this topic, but i have the same issue as well. I tried flashing a stock rom on my SGS but after it was completed, i couldn't get ony my network (Orange). I tried also flashing Darky's 8.0 and still nothing. Even with Hy2teria's suggestion. I don't know what else to do.
Please help me!
Regards
LE: After removing BOTH the SIM card and the SD card, the phone connected to my network succesfully. FYI

thanks friend i flashed much rom stock and hard reset not solved
make sure via secret code *#06# if there´s an imei still showing, if so make sure it is the correct/original one. If the imei is not showing or it is a different one, you got a real big problem. I know of no solution in this case other than sending it in.
Hopefully you backed up the efs folder prior to flashing. If so, find nv_data.bin and drop it into the /efs folder found in the root directory of the internal sd card.
If you hadn´t backed up the efs do this: delete (!) the nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 in the /efs folder. In the same folder there should be 2 files with the same name and a .bak at the end. These are back ups, too, which will be restored after a reboot. If you are lucky the .bak-files aren´t corrupt yet and will restore the correct nv_data.bin.
Hope it works for you

[Q] Restoring IMEI to SGS Cyaogenmod7

heya,
i have done this to about a dozen phones (samsung galaxy s gt-i9000 and gt-i9000t) and i have never had this happen before.
last night i was given a gt-i9000t to debrand (telstra) and update from 2.2.
so as normal i put the cyanogenmod 7 (update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip) on internal memory, use odin3 1.85 to flash hardcore-seedmod.tar to the phone.
restart in recovery mode and then select install zip, and select the update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip and it installs it, clear the partitions and then the cache etc, restart the phone, and the cyanogenmod 7 installs.
bobs ya uncle its rooted, debranded, updated, and made epic in one swoop.
and uptil last night, never had a hickup,
last night i did what i normally do, back everything up (contacts pics etc)
and then did what i listed above, and now the imei has been cleared to 000000000000000 instead of it being XXX112040608XXX.
since i have never had a problem with it in the past i never did a backup of the system files.
is there anyway i can edit a file to put this imei back into the phone.
also i have flashed it with a few roms from samfirmwares.com and the imei is still all 0's.
thanks
There is a service offered at forum.samdroid.net . It costs 10€ . He will rewrite corrupted file.
all good
i have been able to restore the firmware to a default samsung imei code, and now the phone is working again.

All the times I had this problem I've flashed stock ROM with Odin and I can confirm that it works. Seems that sometimes is a problem of SecPhone.apk
Thanks guys, but can you point in the right direction (with flashing the stock ROM)? Like, where do I find it and stuff...
(I don't know how I managed to root my phone without breaking it in the first place xD)

I've writed how to reflash stock firmware in this thread, you can follow up to the sixth step, and if you are interested also to root and CoCore kernel go up to tenth step (after this reboot device)
EDIT: You don't need "Re-Partition" option in Odin
No SIM card (but network OK 4 bars)
Hi,
I have a 9070P (NFC) simlocked to Orange France.
I've got the very same "no SIM card" issue after upgrading to JB via Odin (3.07) (tar downloaded from samfirmware).
Network is OK (4 bars), but "no SIM card". The SIM works fine in any other phone I have tested + inserting a SIM from a different operator does not trigger the "enter unlock code" popup at startup.
My IMEI is OK and has always been (*#06#).
Note : from the many posts I've read, it is *not* stored in /efs on this phone but could be stored in CSPSA partition.
Note : I've always flashed the *right* firmwares for I9070P (not I9070).
What I have tried so far :
* restock to GB with this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247604
--> No SIM card
* then flashed Orange's stock firmware with Odin from samfirmware
--> No SIM card
* played a bit lot with "secret code" *#197328640# menus. It happened once that I recovered the SIM card + data connexion then it failed again after next boot. So I'm pretty sure the pb *is* software.
It's a pitty I have backed up my "efs", and "CSPSA" partitions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145464) after the pb occured...
I have rooted the phone, dumped and tried to analyse modem/RIL logs, but did not manage to spot the pb...
I'm used to linux, flashing and so on but not that much of Android intricaces, so if anybody is willing to help me finding the solution I'd pay him/her a bear (or two)
Questions : does anybody know how to check CSPSA partitions ? It's content might have been damaged during flashes. As I have repartitioned when downgrading, partition size should be OK, but as I have read somewhere in xda that that partition content might not be replaced when flashing a tar.md5 that contain a cspsa image (which is the case in the ROM flashed to downgrade) because it contains the IMEI encrypted.
-> is there a way to mount and explore it or to extract the content of a cspsa image from a ROM (I've tried to mount it as ext4: failure)?
Thanks in advance !
What version of Jelly Bean you have flashed the first time?
Hi!
It was this one : Germany (T-Mobile) I9070PXXLPJ grabbed from Samfirmare (I doubled checked it was the one for the "P" version)
Any known pb with those JB upgrades?

I don't know if this version has the simlock, maybe your phone doesn't recognize sim card because you have updated with Odin from a simlocked GB to a non-simlocked JB or with simlock from another carrier
Hm, did you try to do factory reset? People had problems with signal if they do not do it after GB>JB.

I restocked to original ROM : still no Sim card + if the pb was simlock, it would ask for unlock code whereas it just say "no SIM card".

Yes, I did factory resets, cache wipes, dalvik cache erasure multiple times (like 20) : no dice.
Does anybody know how to activate and analyse modem and RIL logs (and manage debug level) ? I think it would help find the root cause faster than "trial and error" + decrease the risk of bricking.

Right, as you said maybe the problem is really the CSPSA because simlock infos are stored in this partition, seems that there is no way to unpack or to see the files contained in it, if you try to reflash Jelly Bean using repartition?

- Reflash Jelly Bean with repartion : already done without success + JB ROMs (I've seen until now) do not contain CSPSA partition.
But my problem is not SIM lock, it's "no SIM" at all, as I already said, if it was a Sim lock issue, I would have the "insert unlock code" dialog at logon.
- For reference : I've found the sources for CSPSA Android manager and desktop tools at : download.meego.com/live/home:/imppa/Trunk/src/[/url] (it's from the Meego project)
I think it would enable to read/write from/to CSPSA partition properly (not peeking/poking blindly).
- For now, I'm trying to analyse "adb logcat -b radio", but lots off errors seem to but "normal", I can hardly identify which ones are relevant.
Anybody reading radio logcat fluently ?
Guys, could any of you backup the 3 following partitions of their I9070P and post them somewhere to me so that I can try to restore them on my device to see if it sorts out my problems ?
The full tuto is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2145464
Thanks in advance !

Hi Zakaria !
thanks for your answer.
This solution works if you have flashed a "I9070" ROM on a "I9070P". But I never did that, I have always flashed "P" ROMs.
I have checked the MD5sum of the files in my "tee" folder, they are (as expected) the same as the ones into the .zip you are recommending me (I've checked the rights too : everything is OK).
Given what I see in the radio logs (logcat -b radio), the problem appears to be under the RIL layer: modem seems OK but it replies that the SIM is "absent" when queried. It could be a hardware problem to, but as it worked well before, I don't think so.
I would really like to overwrite my CSPSA, modemFS and EFS partitions from a working I9070P to see if it would solve the pb (I've made backups of mine in the current "non working" state).
I'm just expecting someone to dump and send them to me...
Have a nice day.

I've always flashed stock ROMs from SamMobile. There are dozens of them.
As explained in a my first post in this thread, I have tried to upgrade to JB (German (T-Mobile) I9070PXXLPJ) : this is when appeared the "no SIM" problem.
Then I went back to GB (tutorial posted in xda ref. given in my 1st post) and then applied stock ROM from my Carrier: stil no SIM. (SIM card is OK in any other phone, and tried at least 3 other SIM cards from my carrier, -my phone is still SIM locked to it: no SIM).
Even if I use a SIM card from another carrier, I don't get the "Enter unlock code" popup.
If I remove any of those SIM while phone is on, I don't get the "SIM removed: reboot" popup.
I have even flashed the latest nightly CM10.1 for the I9070P.
I can past radio logcats if anybody want to have a look at it...

Lost IMEI

Hello, I lost IMEI data from my i9305 :\
Trying to fix it whole day, but I give up now, im done.
I tried several guides (sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15196) but nothing helps.
Basicly biggest problem I face is that when I dial to *#7284# it shows "Network is not avilable" so nothing happens, or with another method with removing EFS folder, after backuping it at SDcard1 I have no .nv_data file to modify it and fix everything.
I use SentinelROM v6.0, I tried installing some modified modems, but it was retarded from me. I installed one from orginal firmware today meanwhile I was trying to fix IMEI :\
Can anyone help me?
@edit
I dont have backup. Imei and baseband - unknown ;(
I also would like to add that I know my imei (have it written down :3), but can I somehow rebuild efs based on it :3?
I feel so lucky, I flashed orginal firmware through odin and everything is fine now I just need to upload 4.4 again, and make backup for future!
That was my lesson :3 Thread can be closed.

Suddenly unknown IMEI/Baseband. Any solutions (w/o rooting)?

For the last month my wife has been using her new Tab S2 on WIFI only while vacationing abroad. Yesterday we got home and I inserted her sim into the tablet and she was able to connect via the LTE system and access the internet. This morning suddenly she could not access the internet via LTE. In the ABOUT tab the baseband is blank and the IMEI shows up as null. Nothing was installed nor were any updates received that I can tell. It seems clear that the EFS file is corrupted.
1. The information I have found (none of it from XDA) about repairing the problem all seem to assume a backup of the EFS file, which, of course I don't have.
2. Some require root, which I would prefer not to do, as the tablet is under warranty and don't want to void it.
3. There is an EFS Repair tool online, which is a bat file which tries to created a copy of the EFS file and then to have ODIN rewrite it. The backup phase fails with a message that there is no EFS file to backup. (It's not clear to me how backing up and then restoring a corrupt file would help anyway).
4. There is no access to the phones internal control panel via secret code, or the page that comes up is blank.
5. I tried a factory reset but it did not fix the problem.
Any help out there?
thanks

reflashing did not fix it. The baseband is still unknown and the imei is still null. (I must admit I was wondering where the stock rom was going to get the IMEI from during flashing).
Any other ideas, please?

You may need to send it back to Samsung to get it fixed they will be able to pull a log cat and see what happened.
