Help restore my Galaxy Tab with no Baseband - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a used Galaxy Tab from a website.
1. It is rooted.
2. I believe it was lock to Rogers before it was rooted. Seller told me it can be used on any network.
3. It has
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
Model number: GT-P1000
Dial *#1234#
PDA: P1000XXJQ1
Phone: Unknown
CSC: P1000OXAJQ1
I have been reading this forum, and am I right here.
a. No Baseband means no modem. Means no Phone and GPS? That is why I am getting "No Service"
b. To fix this I need to flush the tab with a modem from P1000XXJQ1 firmware? Any instructions of flush it with odin?
c. There is no IMEI on this device. IMEI turns out null/null. I have looked into the filesystem of the device and I cannot locate /efs folder.
1. Is it hidden or anyother way of locating this folder?
2. Do I need to put the IMEI back into the device for the phone to function? And is so how?

If the device is a GT-P1000, then it's GSM.
The IMEI along with the serial number (S/N) should be printed on the back cover. It's not a problem if they are not. Just be sure you don't have the P1010 model (wi-fi only)
To fix it up, use the Overcome guide here to install GB safe v5:
www teamovercome net/p1000/?page_id=17
Make sure you flash the right stuff and stop right after flashing GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip and the Overcome kernel. Reboot and check if everything works as intended. If it does, continue the guide and get Overcome as it's a great starter ROM.
The ROM you are currently on is stock 2.3.3. Do all of this, get back to us and let us know what your status is. Oh, and make sure you don't skip any steps. Odin is not a toy.

[Q] How to downgrade I9000 from 2.3.3 to 2.2 stock

Firstly, apologies if this is already posts elsewhere, but I have tried looking for this with no joy (there's aloooot of threads n here lol)
I recently upgraded to the leaked official 2.3.3 using odin (sbl version).
However, I would like to flash with stock software now to get the official upgrade on my Galaxy S via Kies.
Can someone please help or point me to a guide on doing this and where i can download the correct version. I assume its not as straightforward as simply downloading a stock version of Froyo and flashing as I did to upgrade.
My Current phone version is showing as PDA:JVK / PHONE: JVK / CSC:JVK (CPW)
I should point out that this is the first time ive flashed software on my phone, so ideally a step by step guide, if there is one out there
Thanks for any advice you can give
Ok first of all what you need to do is download an older firmware, preferably in 3 files.
Look here: www.samfirmware.com (you need to register, free)
or look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913
when you have your selected firmware, you need to download a software called 'Odin', this is what we use to flash firmwares to our devices. Look here for a tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
when you have 'Odin' and your 'Firmware' you may also need a 'PIT' file, this is explained in the above link. This will re-partition the device and restore the 'bad blocks' and remove any lagfix / altered file-systems ect ect.....
Because you are on Gingerbread at the moment, its possible that you have changed your boot loader, in order to restore this back to Froyo bootloader, i think the firmware you will need is JM1 ( you may need to search here / google for the correct answer)
anyway when the whole process is completed, you should be able to connect to KIES and flash the latest release.
Any problems just write back. im sure we can help get you going !!

I think that JM1 is eclair...
froyo works with the gingerbread bootloaders so you should just be able to flash a froyo rom i THINK.
Hi im also wanting to do the same looking at the samfirmware files would JS8 be ok to flash?

Any froyo ROM is fine as long as it contains the bootloaders as gingerbread ROMs have different ones.
Download your ROM. Check inside the PDA (sometimes code) tar. If you can't see by clicking on it find instructions how to untar it.
There should be a boot.bin and an sbl.bin if there is you're good to go. If not flash another one that has.
You can always reflash with your preferred froyo ROM after the initial flash has downgraded the bootloaders
This link tells you all you need to know about flashing with Odin.

Ok, I tried flashing using the JPY firmware. The process seemed to go okay.
But only getting the 'S' logo for ages then the phone starts ocaasional quick vibrations and screen eventually goes black.
Have tried rebooting ans reseting.
Please help
First boot after a flash does take a long time and you may get the odd little vibration. The screen may go black for a little while. Be patient. If nothing happens after six or seven minutes pull battery try again. If still no good reflash.
You did check repartition in Odin? And use. 512 pit? You need the pit file for a reflash.
Maybe md5 your firmware to check you didn't get a corrupted download.
If you can still get download mode don't worry you will be able to sort it. Most people on xda brick their phones most weeks!

well i reflashed the 2.3.3 leaked and its working for now, will try again tomorrow, getting a bit late.
Was wondering about whether I should try the JM1 instead of JPY. But, on the Sammyfirmware website they only had XW***JP1 which I understand is not for UK/Europe (mine is XX)?
But thanks everyone for your help so far, i may be back on in tears tomorrow
You can use any firmware - they were released with different codes in different regions but if you use a multi CsC like the one in the jpy ROM it doesn't matter because its the csc file that does the regional settings not the PDA file

Hmmm well showing on Samsungs FB page that the ginerbread update has been pulled (by Google)
Guess i'm sticking with the leaked version for now
Sorry to muscle in on this thread but I'm trying to go back from GB 2.3.3 to Froyo 2.2.1. I've flashed JPY with Odin, used repartition, 512 pit and registry patch 1.82 to XEU, phone works fine. Well, Kies then recognises that there is a new firmware (JPY as it happens) and starts the upgrade process, I then get an error message saying that this version can't be updated
Any ideas??

maybe you will find some info in this post.....

We now have two threads on the same subject but as this was started first I'll continue with this one.
Thanks for the suggestion, I flashed JPU but unable to connect to Kies so flashed the 1 file JPY but still got the same error message with Kies. Maybe I'll try reinstalling Kies and see what happens.
OK, I've reinstalled Kies, changed the product code in the phone with *#272*IMEI# to XEU and now Kies tells me that I have the latest firmware - great bring on the official version of GB.
can anyone give me a link of jpy firmware with bootloader?
the ones from samfirmare.com are WITHOUT bootloader...
Okay, seems that Samsung have finally released Gingerbread.....again. So am gonna make another attempt at downgrading to Froyo so I can get the official Gingerbread update.
However, because of the issues I had with my last attempt, I would like to make sure I am doing it correct.
Current Phone Software
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware Ver: 2.3.3
Baseband Ver: I9000XXJVK
Kernal Ver: 2.3.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXJVK
I believe the version I installed included the bootloader
The phone was purchased in the UK on T-Mobile but supplied through Carphone Warehouse
Steps:
Downloaded: I9000XXJPY (single file) & 512.pit from Samfirmware (does this contain bootloader? If not, will it cause an issue in updating on Kies?)
Remove sim & memory card
Start phone in Download mode
Plug in USB
Open Odin v1.3
Select .tar file as PDA
Select 512.pit file
Re-Partition - Not Ticked
Auto Reboot & F.Reset Time - Ticked
Click Start
Wait for installation to complete and phone to restart
Hopefully i've provided all the info required, but if not, please post or PM me. If anyone could please check my steps above and let me know if i'm doing this correct or not before I go ahead.
Much appreciated
hi there,
as i know, to run a 2.3.3 rom on SGS , we need to flash a new bootloader right?
but what if i wanna roll back to 2.2.1? do i need to do somthing to re-install a bootloader for 2.2.1?
cuz in most tutor of installing a 2.2.1 rom did mention DO NOT touch the "Phone Bootloader Update" option of odin3
thanks.
I have found a method to downgrade successfully and created a new post with the step by step guide

Ok here is what you need to do.
1. Flash your captivate with this stock 2.2 Rom. This one will remove the AT&T boot logo. And when flashing do make sure to check the repartition box and use the pit file
Files:
Rogers 2.2 ATT Free
Pit File
2. When you finished flashing, go to the phone dialer and dial *#1234#, if your CSC Version is unknow then put the phone back into download mode. And flash this 2.2 Rom, this one contains the missing CSC file version and make sure to only check the PDA on Odin3 and don't use the pit file and uncheck the Re-Partition box!!!!!!
When finish flashing go the dialer and dial *#1234#, to see the csc version: I896RWCJL1. And connect to kies to see if your phone is recognize. If your having problem PM me.
Files:
Rogers 2.2 Missing CSC
Thanks, I'll give it a shot..
worked like a charm thanks!
I tried to modify the NV_Data.bin myself but the guide is for i897 models, which are the same but not so it wasn't working.
Now im ready to take the official update if rogers ever pushes it.

[Q] Bell GT-i9000M Stock to CM7

Hello everyone. I'm usually pretty good at finding what I need on the net, but recently that has changed. I have been trying to get CM7 on my SGS with no luck. I have followed the Wiki (see link below) with little success, as well as the second link. Those instructions gave me a boot loop using talon kernel.
What i'm looking for is someone to help me out based on what my phone is already running.
Model Number GT-I9000M
Firmware Version 2.3.3
Baseband Version I9000UGKG3
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9000UGKG3
[email protected]#2
BuildNumber GINGERBREAD.GKG3
I'm comfortable with ODIN (Used plenty of times to get phone back from the dead a couple of times.)
I've gone through the forums and google as well as youtube. It seems they are always on a custom kernel or firmware before going to CM7, so somethings don't apply.
I'm under the impression that my version does not support CWM recovery and that's why using ROM manager fails with a e-signature error and that changing the kernel can change that.
I know there are some really smart people in here that are already rolling with CM7 I could really use their help. File links that work, and are appropriate for my build and maybe an updated guide for the times.
If you can help me out; thank you so much! If not, I understand people are busy.
Cheers
Jay

Just flash to JVT, root with Chainfire's kernal, and install CM7 with CWM. None of the developers bother with making stuff for UGKG3 since not a lot of SGS ship with it.
I think I remember something about stock firmware and bootloaders.
Download a rom that has 3 files + boot loader. (I think Ramad has some JVT rom that will work)
Flash with odin, click update bootloader. If the rom isn't prerooted or if it doesn't come with CWM then flash a kernal with odin that supports it.
Then you should be able to follow the rest of the steps.

This doesn't apply. Your bootloaders are fine, and you're doing nothing but taking a risk by flashing them for no reason.

I've never run into this problem, even though I have an i9000m—but that's probably because when I got my phone, we were still on 2.2. If KG3 is giving you troubles, the simplest solution would be to flash a different stock firmware, and then simply proceed from there. Same thing as the above user posted.
Hope it helps! And sometimes it takes time before the right person stumbles onto your thread. Paitence is a virtue.

First of all, thanks again for the link ... i got the first of your advice working properly. I'm running JVT with KG3 modem....
however, for some odd reason I can't flash CM7 through CWM. I've tried the stable and nightly versions and each time I flash, I get the to point where it saids "install package" ... and then it just goes into this infinite loop where I see the standard SDS logo screen, then I see the CM7 SDS logo screen... then i see a bunch of commands that the flash is trying to run, but its too fast and I can't see what its trying to do...
either way, it just loops over and over again... and i gotta use ODIN and flash it again, but still no way to run CM7
any suggestions?

Hi jayallen,
I would like to thank you in advance for looking into this for me. I also want to apologize in advance for I think this would have been asked quite sometimes but unfortunately I am not able to find the right firmware. My phone right now is stuck at the samsung logo screen in the start. It is samsung galaxy s and the provider is Bell Canada. It does go into Downloading mode and I have tried many different .pit, pda, modems, csc files but none have worked. I am sure my phone is I9000M and on the latest version of Android (gingerbread). The phone info I think is very similar to the one below:
Model number
GT-I9000M
Firmware version
2.3.3
Baseband Version:
I9000UGKG3
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000UGKG3
[email protected] #2
Build number
GINGERBREAD.GKG3
Can you please, paste the links from where I can get the Modem file and the firmware (PDA, CSC, PIT) which will work with Bell network provider. I think I know how to put it on the device. Any help will be greatly appreciated in regards.
Thanks.

Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant [i9000M BELL]

Hello XDA community,
Lend me your ear..eyes.
I have relentlessley been trying to find a way to flash my phones rom to a ICS port but scouering the internet, hard it has been (Yoda Voice).
I am hoping that someone who has been able to sucessfully flash ICS on a Bell Vibrant [i9000m] can point me in the right direction. I see alot of i9000 guides but we all know how those end up when you try to follow them on a phone with just slight differences and I really dont want to have a *epic fail* moment and be forced to have to dust off the old Motorolla Milestone.

But, even though it will work, don't waste your time with Allgamer's endless method.
Here's how I did it without any issue at all!
Choose your ICS flavor (OneCosmics' Team ICSSGS or TeamHacksung CM9) and follow the provided instructions to the letter.
There is only one extra step once you're done : to flash a compatible 850MHz band enabled modem.
For this, download the CM7/CM9 compatible UGKG3 modem from the link below and flash via CWM.

Voilà, you have a working ICS on your i9000m... enjoy!

follow this post. At first it seemed like I was stuck in boot loop, but I unplugged the usb cable and plugged it back in. You gotta wait a few mins for it to boot, so be patient. This happened twice, but after, everything was sorted out. Then after you get ICS up and running I recommend installing the wifix apk to fix the wi-fi signal issue. You should be good to go then.

[Q] An advice please...ROM for GT-P1000

Hello everybody
I have Galaxy Tab 7" GT-P1000 WiFi/3G
Model number:
GT-P1000
Firmware version:
2.2
Baseband version:
P1000JXJM2
Kernal version:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build number:
FROYO.JVJM5

As you see it's the old good froyo, but I think it's time for changing
And that's my question, To WHAT ?
First, you have P1000, that means you have phone functionality. Not only wifi/3G.
Second, there are many posts asking theis questions over and over again...
and usually Priyana answers them with the exact answers. So I'm going to borrow his/her answer:
Go to team overcome and follow their installation instruction "From froyo"
http://www.teamovercome.net/
There you will have a choice "GB-Stock-safe" (Gingerbread stock pre-rooted)) and Overcome Rom (Based on GB2.3.6 pre-rooted).
if you want to try the new ics later on, I suggest install gb-stock-safe and continue install the overcome KERNEL only. Don't install Overcome ROM.
The instruction maybe overwhelming and you may get bootloops if you do a wrongthing. So follow it carefully.
G
Thank You
I know that post of teamovercome forum and still have headache from reading it
It's very complicated so I think it's good idea to stay with the Froyo.
I guess sticking to Froyo will work.... but I think there are more apps available if you are on ICS...

I'm a beginner as you was a long time ago.
By the way, does the Kies can update the firmware to some thing else than Froyo ?
I don't think so

Hey man, you need to decide if you want to do more with your g-tab or not.
BUT words of warning: DON'T jump into the swimming pool if you're afraid getting drowned.
I was exactly like you just last year and of course as everyone else here, I started by simply learn how to root my Tab. With froyo, it is as easy as ONE MOUSE CLICK after you downloaded the correct .exe program on your computer.
Most countries already get GB upgrades via Kies ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. Some unlucky countries stuck in froyo and that's when they come to xda forum to learn new things.
THANKS
My Tab is already rooted.
What you means by " ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6", the kernal version or the firmware version ?
I upgraded once time only using the Kies but it's still Froyo as you see in my post.
You are right abut the swimming therefore I need to prepare myself good enough to start that process.
the best roms!
try these two masterpieces of dizgustipated:
boca msi
or
blindmooke
just go to the respective rom's thread in this section for instructions.
but first, as the posters before me said, you have to follow the instructions in www.overcome.net. when you get to the part of flashing the rom, use the above-mentioned roms instead of overcome.
happy flashing!
Here, a very easy to follow going to Gingerbread stock, follow carefully:
You can download any official firmware at http://fus.nanzen.se/
1a. Download Fus Check Downloader 2.1 from the above site. Using the Fus Check downloader, download a Firmware for your region. It will automatically decode the .enc2 file to.zip file
(For your case choose GT-P1000)
Extract .zip file to get .md5 or .tar
1b. Download Odin3-v1.85
1c. Download this pitfile from following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=631856&d=1308653969
1d. Download this dbdata from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=935230&d=1331091172
2. Start Odin - put the .md5/.tar to PDA
Put the pitfile from step 1b to the PIT
Check re-partition. Leave everything else as is.
3. Go to download mode on the G-tab, connect to ur computer
and click start on Odin. It takes about 6 to 7 minutes to do the flashing.Once done flashing it will reboot but mostlikely you still have problems with your tab.
4. Reboot to download mode again. Reset Odin (make sure re-partition unchecked), put dbdata from step 1c to PDA, leave everything else as is. Reconnect your G-Tab to computer, click start on Odin.
5. When Dbdata is successfully put into your G-tab, reboot to recovery mode, do a factory reset wipe, and data cache wipe.
Reboot system, wait for about 5 minutes for the tab to boot up, you should be all set.
Note: as always, you are responsible for your own device. I'm not responsible if anybody break his/her device following the above instruction.
yappoe, Thank You very much
1- Please check the links for the pitfile and the dbdata file -Error 404 Page Not Found
2- Can I choose another country than the one where the Tab was purchased ?
3- In the zip file there is another file called SS_Dl.dll. What about it ?
Gb has better video player and music player 5.1 . Can play sky go too. Theres lots of ways to get it looking like ics. Whilst still on gb.

Try again.
Yes you can download roms for other countries. People like firmwsre for germany or netherland because they are the latest (2.3.6).
disregard the .dll file.
TNX a lot
