Recently I went from CM7 to MIUI,my cm7 rom probably wasn't in the best condition, more upgrades and kernel revision than I could count on 20 hands, so I decided to switch over to MIUI backed up all my same apps etc, usage habits have not changed a bit.
On cm7 it was pretty common to change out my battery just after arriving to school (lengthy train commute) now on arrival it is on 45% with exactly the same usage.
So I guess it's worth a complete reinstall no matter what ROM you're using.

What is the question exactly?
If you are asking about rom, I am not a fan of cm7/miui. There is some pretty good stock based roms (django manouche, rebuild of v20q, civato, gueste) which with combination of kernels (spica, gueste) gives me 2 days of battery. So, if you are a hard user, it should last at least a day.
There is no question

You didn't really need to change ROMs I guess. You could've just reformatted, then reflash back to CM7 right?
Yes, although im not sure if MIUI just inherently has better battery life or if my old cluttered ROM was responsible. They're both more or less based off the same thing though.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
Yes I think Mungulz's OP is understandable if you're not looking at it as a question.
When I read it I understood that the message was that instead of just flashing the updates over the old system that it is best to do a complete wipe and a complete ROM flash. Right Mungulz?
That's how I like to do it anyways Backup important apps and totally wipe the sucker!
cm7 - a well oiled machine
miui - eye candy
stock based roms - a mixed bag of god knows what, some good, some bad (but more bad..)
personally i love cm7 cuz of the many settings

camera never works. Stable?
Which baseband are you using?
My phone freezes sometimes and somtimes i cant boot the phone with this version of miui. The reason for this behaviour is maybe the vorkkernel i have flashed with ext4 but idk...
Using baseband 823 and ril and the batterylife is terrible. Only passing a half day when fully charged and doing nothing spezial.
The most battery consuming app seems to be the mobilestandby process.
So, in my opinion this is sadly the worst miui release ever.

Hey
Well, at first I want to wish you a happy new year.
I think you should try a CM 7.2 KANG with IronKernel because in my opinion this combination will make your phone very stable and it will also perform very well.

Yeah, I don't really know about the camera quality of CM because I haven't compared it with the other roms, but I don't use the camera very often so I don't really care about whether the quality is less than in other roms.

I've found that the weapon g2x 3.0_r1 rom is really stable I havny run into any bugs or random reboots. I've been running weapon g2x (various versions) since I got my phone 4 months ago and I'm more and more impressed every day.
Making bad decision's one at a time.
I'm on preorder o2x and I'm on CM7.2 bb824. Haven't had a random reboot/blackscreen in 2 weeks. And I had a lot of those in the beginning.

Is it just me or somebody else there who preferes CM7 over ICS and feels CM7 is better, for the time being, than ICS, performancewise and customizationwise.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
CM7 is certainly more customizable for now, but if you're talking about performance and stability, both CM7 and CM9 are still not as good as some of the stock Froyo 2.2.1 roms, mainly due to free ram. With more free ram, the processor doesn't need to constantly close and reopen processes. Nonetheless, I prefer ICS over froyo and CM7 simply because of the many subtle yet important improvements, such as the keyboard and spellcheck, smoother game performance(eg: runs GTA3 with no lags), and the improved user interface.
ICS' only weakness in my point of view is the lousy multitasking, due to low ram on our galaxy s. I can't even open the browser and a simple game like angry birds at the same time without one of them being closed. Multitasking was slightly better on gingerbread and much better on Froyo.
CM7 in my opinion, is not faster than CM9, though it is currently more stable and has fewer bugs. But the huge community support that ICS has currently makes it better for me.
To check the multitasking I opened some apps and without killing them I checked the running processes. They are not shown there but in the cached running processes they are shown. Why?.

CM9 all the way. I'm just surprised how good it is for alpha. Better than 2.3 roms, imo.

Please remember that cm9 is still an ALPHA build.Sure it is not yet as custom able as cm7...but it will be. But back to the question tho , cm9 defo for me.

I have never tested cm7. I think if you want to use a custom ROM, you should take ICS.
There isn't only cm9, you can also use something like AOKP (or BLUE LIGHTENING, a AOKP based ROM from BHuvan goyal), it is nearly bug free and very customizable!
If you like the stock ROMs, stay there!
I tried the Optimus Thrust and Gueste cm7 and cm7 but I am Not satisfied at all! Which one is the best Rom for this phone? Are there any smooth roms with good battery life and short charging time? Im now on old bl but I can simply Update it so no matter about that.

1. Best rom threads aren't allowed here
2. But to answer your question, there is never one ideal rom. It's a personal preference. What I'd suggest is, look at the few popular roms, like one each on ics, cm10, cm10.1 which are trending currently on the forum(browse in the development section to know more, but don't ask in those threads "is this rom best or better than that other rom" etc.) , and give those a try one by one. Settle on your favorite one among those.
Most out here would agree that there is no best, there is a user's personal favorite. Henceforth, a request and an appeal to other new users to not create a similar thread and use this as a reference.
Regards

I personally think that stock gingerbread is the best one, i know it looks like awful due to LG UI Skins but, my back to life O2x is running like a fresh phone now. CM7 as you mentioned is very good at performance but not at battery life, after my O2x bricked when i was trying to install stock ICS, i was using Nova HD and it is pretty awesome, but i think they stopped the development. If you have any question, you can ask me, i will be glad to help you!:victory:

As was explained above, the 'best threads' aren't allowed, one reason, it's avoid discussions since every person has a different opinion based on usage, installed apps, installed mods, etc.
I'll close this to avoid more related posts...

Cm (02/07) + Optimus Prime V1.9. I use cm because it's (IMO) the best way to enjoy the android experience. Also because all the mods are compatible with cm.
The reason i use this kernel is because of the performance/battery life.
Cheers
Stock v20a Euro with stock kernel I deleted some applications that come preinstaled and now everything is fine.Using stock because i like LG UI 3 and because i didnt yet installed CWM If anuyone can recomend guild how to instal CWM (best version for our phone) please do so

well, I used to enjoy playing some Tegra games on it, but I just hope there's something to smoothen the performance and enhance the battery life as it is now still very disappointing.
I'm currently running V20A rooted still with locked bootloader ( I believe ). I have frozen several LG apps (if not all), and the battery life is still disappointing.

Umm? So you play 38 hours with screen off? Including 30 hours without battery? Wow -- would you mind sharing that trick?
This is a really useful thread indeed, as one can not only learn which ROMs are available but also how stable/battery-saving etc. they are. What I'm still missing are the links to the ROMs sources. Would be great if you could include them! Thanks
