Hi,
I have a samsung Galaxy S, and it was horribly branded, so i tried wiping the software, 1st time I tried it, I got no signal at all (don't know why?!), forgot what software it was because its been deleted.
Since then, in an attempt to fix it I flashed I9000XWJS3 with Odin.
Now it shows I have signal but "Emergency Calls Only" is shown where the network operator should be. Why is this?
This is a used phone that i bought from ebay, can't remember wether I got signal on the branded OS. Could it be a faulty sim tray or a fault with the phone? Or it is software?
Any ideas on how to fix? Please Note: I am a UK resident, My network is o2.
any other details needed let me know.
ALSO: If I go into network settings and select o2 as the network, it tries to connect but just ends up saying "Unable to connect. Try later"
Does it show signal as well? What I mean is do you have full.signal and it still shows the tab emergency calls only?

Yes, phone still shows it has signal, just emergancy calls only
Ok. Under settings what is the baseband version? I had this issue when I was on darkys rom and the only way to fix it was a reboot. But that would happen several times a.day.
Recently I have changed to docs rom and cooked fairly stock Tom and instead of jpy modem I used jpe and haven't encountered.the problem since.
Also you.might want to clean the sim card contacts.

just flash my p1000 T-Mobile tab with cyan 7. Everything is working fine except when I insert my T-Mobile SIM card, I got a message "no GSM network" can anyone help please. Thanks
Try rebooting to make sure the problem is persistent.
Then search to see if you need a different radio to make it work.

ok
I had the same problem. Rebooting the phone solved it. Remember to chose GSM Only, Global, or GSM/WCDMA from your mobile network settings.
I have a question related to CM7 Gingerbread Beta, so I'll post it here if you don't mind, jbhorse.
Is the front camera already working in the latest version?

Clean the chip of your sim card using something volatile like a deodorant and an eraser and insert it again
I tried overcome method and 5 different sim cards and nothing worked for me. I suspect hardware problem. Samsung will have a look what is wrong. Thanks guys for your help!
I also had it

i have a similar problem. My tab reads only few sim card :64k oberthur of wind i have a tab no-brand italy. i have changed some modem.bin and some firmware but the problem it's the same
i also have a problem i dont know if its hardware or its OS?
I hope someone can help. My device is rooted and the following issues occur with all ICS roms and the JB roms as well
On ICS roms the devices say either no sim card detected or wont get on network. Manually scanning and selecting network results in your sim does not allow connection to this network
I have turned on GSM only, WCDMA only and various options like these and same issue.
JB will do the same thing as well.
I noticed that if I flash JB roms with the older safestrap I dont have this issue but the device will not power off unless removing the battery.
At this point I jsut want it to work normally.
Unfortunately my backup got erased in all of this mess and I dont have any files to return me to stock Bell firmware.
I would need to get either back to stock or at least get the custom roms working properly for network/sim
Any help would be appreciated
You have to have a sim card to use the new builds, if you do have one take it out and clean the contacts on the card and the phone with a pencil eraser and push down on the metal strap that holds the card in place so it has a better contact

Can somebody help me with this 4g problem?
This is what i did:
1.flashed custom ROM (worked like a charm,i did nandroid backup)
2.flashed other custom ROM (didnt like it so I restored the first one from nandroid)
3.everything went well except no imei and no baseband
4.reverted back to stock rom with odin
5.and here is the problem,no 4g signal at all. 3g/2g works fine.
If I post my build.prop can somebody tell me whats wrong?
I have tried to put my sim card in other phone and it works but not in my phone.
Did you enable 4G in Settings?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I did...network mode is set to LTE
Is there a test that I can use to test is it a software or hardware issue?
Maybe an issue of Stock rom you flashed using odin.. Which one exactly have yoi flashed? What modem you have now? And finally, is your S3 i9305 or some i9305T variant?
Check this out:
Typ *#*#4636#*#* and goto Netinformation, then you will find a special-setup for the 2G 3G & 4G.
Sorry about my english. Cause i am german.

Thanks for your replies,I flashed stock german 4.4.4 from sammobile. It worked very good about 2 months.
I think that modem is xxufoa1 and version of phone is i9305 lte international.
If somebody could help me with this issue,I would appreciate that. But no hurries,I got new playmate S6 edge...
try doing a complete wipe of data and cache, then flash stock rom again to see if problem persists
I have tried many times but no help...
Hey, try flashing the parambin.zip file (look for it on google related to s3 lte, you'll find it easily). Another thing to try is just wait with the phone turned on with a valid SIM. I found out that sometimes it delayed a lot to get signal, specially when changing SIM carriers on another country. After a while waiting it finally succeeded (probably unrelated but I also saw on the catlog entries about upgrading the sahara file of the qualcomm chip -the modem-).
