US Estate Laws for a Canadian; long-lost bio father died - Off-topic

OK, I know this is kinda weird, but I live mostly on XDA these days, so thought I'd ask here in OT.
And I see the forum doesn't want me to ask a question in a non Q&A forum, but I see a "Boxers or Briefs ?" question, and this is supposed to be an OT forum, so...
I'm looking for tips or references to websites or lawyers etc.
I check the Social Security Death Index on the net every so often, and just found out my "estranged, biological" father died in November.
No need for consolations as I never knew him. I showed up on his doorstep 11 years ago to meet him for the first time. And he's a jerk for never even bothering to write to me once.
I believe he had some assets, but likely not too, too much in the grand scheme of things. Likely less than a house is worth. Perhaps.
But for all I know, he may have had a will, or there was next to nothing left. I'm sure I can find plenty of local (Canada) lawyers ready to take hundreds of dollars an hour from me, but if anyone has any tips or references to websites or whatever I'm open to suggestions. I'm happy to learn things on my own, but my app and lots of other things need my time too.
For reference, I think he likely died in or near Arizona but most of his assets may have been with a Bank of America branch in the LA, California area. I had some very helpful telephone contact with Bank of America in the past, so I guess I'll call them tomorrow. And he was a veteran of WW II.
And my situation could be complicated by the facts that I was born in the US, and lived there my first year of life, but have been in Canada since then and now have both citizenships.
I hate that the US and the IRS likely still sees me as a potentially taxpaying American. I gave up over a grand worth of with-holding taxes once to avoid getting involved with the IRS. But perhaps this will force my hand...
Any thoughts welcome. No condolences please, other than any mild commiserations offered for the millions of us who were raised in the challenging circumstances of a single parent house-hold.

I would call the SSA or maybe consult a lawyer. (actually, DEFINITELY consult a lawyer) I know you don't wanna do that but estate/inheritance law, is well....extremely complicated.

i seriously doubt you'll get anything worthwhile
specially when he didn't even give a damn about contacting you
in the even he did make a step bro or sis over there, chances are all whatever little is left has gone to them, If any
remember, you are dealing wit US of A, the IRS are like vultures whenever there's a death, and no will or immediate US of A family member to take care of his business
a chunk of it would probably have gone to taxes and collectors if he had any outstanding debt, the house if any might possibly still be on a mortgage and has landed on default to the bank, heck it might have even been double mortgaged considering how the cost of living is in the US of A
also any medical fees would have probably also come out of it
dude, you have a hard up hill battle to fight to get anything worthwhile back.
good luck on your endeavours

Thanks.
Yeah, I hadn't thought of the Social Security Administration. I'm not sure exactly what they could do for me though.
Today I sent some questions to the Veterans Administration via their web form.
I also had a nice 12 minute chat with somebody in the Bank of America "estate" department, or whatever they call it. They will be sending me some sort of package, perhaps once they figure out what happened with his account.
Yeah, I know the advice is always to get or ask a lawyer. But I'm happy to get the ball rolling myself. I don't need somebody charging me $200+ an hour for making simple phone calls or emails.
As I say, there might have been a will and I'm not a beneficiary, or there may be no assets left to claim, which could easily mean $1,000 spent on a lawyer for nothing, and I can't afford that. But I'll see what I can find out from a lawyer or 2 before I sign any lawyer contract.

Thanks, yes, I doubt it too, but I figure it's worth it to spend at least a bit of time trying to find out. In the event of a step-sibling and no will, I presume I should be entitled to a share, but that could require a legal fight, and I don't think I'd start such a fight, unless the assets were worth it and I had a good chance.
I think he didn't own any property, he rented and physical assets were likely a few old cars. But that 68 Camaro he had at one point was worth a few bucks...
Yeah, medical fees, but as a WW II veteran I'd guess he had VA coverage, but I don't know how that works.

Yeah, I likely won't start any fight, but I'm not going to ignore the possibility that I might have a few hundred grand (at most I'm sure) coming to me. He was a "penny pincher" and many such people can have a surprising amount tucked away.

Need some opinions on this Drama im going through

About 3 months ago a friend of mine asked me to join a biggest loser group on Facebook. I needed to lose about 30lbs so I joined up.
The entry fee was due during the middle of October, a couple weeks after the contest started. The due day came I didn't pay and I figured they dropped me. So I stopped giving my weekly updates.
Well this week the contest ended, and I got a nasty message that I still owed the entry fee and 2 months worth of fees for not reporting my weight. They wanted to pay the winner and they were short my entry fee.
I sent a message back that ill pay my part, but since its a week before Christmas im short on cash and it will have to wait till Friday. Well that wasn't good enough, they needed it that day. I told them sorry I couldn't.
So instead of just dropping me and taking me out of the equation. They just dug into their own pockets to pay the winner my part. And they are still continuing to hound me about the money.
Was it too much for me to ask to pay that Friday. It wasn't my choice they paid the winner my part.
If I was running this thing, and I had someone who didn't pay by the due date. I would have removed him from the equation and ended it right there. Not try to collect a bunch of money a couple months later.

Okay, I am the Drama Llama and all so this is my thing .
I'm going through something similar, except its eBay fees and its a lot more money lol... But anyway, If you weren't paying anymore, why didn't you just tell them you were gonna drop out
Figured they had a brain and would figure it out..
Guy didnt pay fee and isnt reporting weight.. obviously he is not in the contest..
Actually with corporations it's much different.
He stopped paying us, but lets keep him in so at the end we can slam him with a huge fee and send our friends at the collection agency to his house.

Nobody on the intarwebs has a brain or knows how to use one correctly while online.
But the dood should have posted on the FB stating he was dropping out of the contest to go back to eating Ho-ho's and have been done with it.
Yea, I'm going to have to agree with the general consensus. When it comes to money, more specifically, being paid money, it is advantageous to just assume that you are still in the program that way the "organization" can still get paid and claim ignorance.

if you didnt sign anything -- and a facebook post will never hold up in court -- then my friend, you just walk away. no harm. i hope you learned your lesson for getting involved in such a soapy facebookish thing in the first place. I mean --I could very well be 1000 pounds and lie and post weekly updates about "feeling so good, so thin so sexy my pants fit me now!" and collect the winners money all while hiding behind facebook and drinking bacon grease and sucking crisco through a coffee stirrer straw all the while.
i wouldnt worry about those douchebags but i understand they are probably your friends... so thats where facebook really gets irritating.
now... ask yourself this question -- are these your true friends? Would your true friends betray you like this? I mean facebook?! because this is in facebook you did not betray anyone... you betrayed yourself by agreeing to be part of such a joke, but thats OK, i betray myself everyday lol. Tooleman694, I am so sorry to hear about what happened. That is totally unfair and I feel your pain man. You get into a group to try to drop some weight and some guys try to rob you after you drop out? That hurts. Short on some cash near Christmas? That hurts.
Actually, I don't feel your pain at all, because what actually happened was you signed up and then decided not to pay any fee because you were getting your ass kicked in the competition and didn't want to cough up any more money. Sounds to me like you're a gigantic TOOL. Oh wait, your name already makes that very clear.
The best part about all of this? If I hadn't taken your money while you were too busy trash talking (and losing), maybe you would have some money to pay that fee. Or buy some better gifts. Or both.
Lol.

Why would you pay for help to lose weight?! If you really wanted to lose weight, you'd use your common sense and think to yourself that you need to burn more calories then you intake. Simples. Anyway, there are more helpful, free sources of help. Well xda is one for mobile phones. Vommon sense again, you'd think that searching a body building forum would be another.

I believe the idea is that whoever loses the most wins or something like that, the point is winning the loot is an incentive to lose weight... unless I'm missing something.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. My Vivid is a work phone so I'm stuck on AT&T anyway. I could return it but there is no other phone that I really want. The new LG looks nice but it seems like development sucks for LGs even with an unlocked bootloader.

My assumption considering the specs the LG is going to have is that it will probably get a decent reception here. At least I would hope. Time will tell.

+ for this option. I am waiting on sideline until this issue is resolved. I am happy to keep my aria running latest cm7 nightly.
In spirit, AT&T lost me many years ago. The only reason why I'm still with them is because of my corporate policy and them not allowing me to switch to Verizon.
Believe me, if I could, I would in a heartbeat.
I will continue with AT&T.
Have you called their tech support lately? They fixed my tethering, visual cm and sms provisioning and called back the next day to ensure it was fixed.
CIQ doesn't bother me. This is a work phone. Work already has the right to monitor me. They purchased the phone and pay for the plan.
In general, I am a doer and not a whiner. If it works for me and helps me get things done and doesn't harm me, great!

You've got to be kidding me. You're calling us whiners and not doers? Have you even been following this forum at all? Of course we have called tech support!
And this all makes sense now. The reasons you're defending them. "CIQ doesn't bother me." "It works for me and doesn't harm me" You're just selfish. Do you realize how many people are affected by CIQ? Chances are someone you know or even a family member is affected. Your "you agreed to terms" argument doesn't apply here like you tried to use in another thread. CIQ is doing things without our consent or permission! This isn't about just what affects "ME". This is about all of us and how we're being affected. Everyone has a different lifestyle and most of us don't have "work Vivids".
You don't want to participate in what we're trying to do, then don't. Want to stay with AT&T? Cool. But what's the point of trolling here? As long as we know now that you've been exposed as a selfish troll, No one really cares what you have to say.

Let me know how you have been affected by CIQ. Has something changed in your life. I am guessing not because you didn't know until someone pointed it out.
By "doing" and not whining I mean TRULY make a difference. Instead of flooding corporate sites with noise, help with investigation. Make a case. How does it affect you? What did you agree to? Have you done due diligence and reread your contract?

We helped raise awareness. That's most certainly doing something. I would love to do whatever I could. How is this occupying anything? No one is camping outside AT&T offices trying to protest.
And that's the issue. We HAD to be told that we were being monitored. So before it causes any real damage, it needs to be stopped. Just think if someone figured out that the PSN had an exploit before the the attack went down. We have the opportunity to do things we couldn't in other situations.
Until they kick me off my unlimited plan I will stay loyal. This whole Vivid situation was perfect timing in my mind. Was able to get the phone for $25 no contract so I kept it a few weeks waiting out the locked bootloader issue. Seeing that it may take awhile I sold the Vivid for $300 and bought a Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ and couldn't be happier.
Everyone, step back. OP, don't ask for opinions then complain you don't like some of those opinions. WillGill, that's pretty rude calling folks trying to do something "whiners". Which is what you did.
I believe it's important for people to shout it out when Big Brother starts to over reach. I appreciate the efforts of many here to expose and Kill CarrierIQ.
We live in a society that is becoming increasingly corrupt. Congress has made many forms of bribery completely legal, so that they can try and pretend that they're still the good guys. For the first time in history, Congress has been completely bought and paid for by those wishing to bend the system to their own selfish concerns. At the same time, the Internet has made it possible--for the first time in history--for the masses to become fully informed and fight this attack on our society.
The occupy movement is a good example of people coming together to fight terrible changes in our society, and this movement is fueled by information available on the Internet. Unfortunately, Occupy has failed miserably. If they've done anything, they've helped those people they're trying to fight. It's really too bad, they could have had a major impact had they targeted those people that actually could change the system--Congress.
We no longer hold politicians accountable for their corruption and the damage they've done to the system. We blindly accept whatever they've got to say, as long as they support a few pet causes we hold dear. Liberals--by and large--support Democrats, regardless of how huge the bribes they take are. Look at Nancy Pelosi: almost universally adored among the liberals and yet crooked beyond belief. Oh, that's right, she's not crooked. Congress has made it legal for her to accept bribes so large that they're unprecedented in history. And don't be smug conservatives, the Republicans are no better. Both sides are laughing all the way to the bank, whilst we cling to a few small issues that we feel differentiates liberals and conservatives.
As you rail against CarrierIQ, please don't forget who's sitting back and doing nothing even though they're vested with the responsibility to defend our privacy and our freedom. It's time we held congress's feet to the fire, regardless if we consider ourselves liberal or conservative. When you vote, look past whether a candidate is liberal or conservative. If they're honest, it will all work itself out. Cry out for candidates who are honest, who will fight CarrierIQ and every such intrusion into our lives. Don't accept corruption.
Nakel, you may have missed my point. All this ranting and raving without fact checking and knowing legal rights is just whining. Instead, I recommend true action.
Occupiers, by definition, are just taking up space. They change nothing other than kill park grass, leave filth, not to mention the rapes, drug deaths and deficating on cop cars. And no... I'm not making that up. Google it. That's the wrong message.
Actually what I see missing is personal responsibility.
Expect only what you pay for but feel free to negotiate more.
Know what your rights, not what you feel is "right".
Know your facts before you speak. (Like 85% of millionaires didn't inherit it)
Contribute to a true difference, not a scene.
My apologies for getting a bit OT. I would just like to be a voice of caution. Let's be sure we know if and who the dragon is before trying to vanquish it.

I am with you, willgill, though I have no desire to argue or reason with "grab your pitchforks and torches" mob. I do find it curious however, that this mob's anger is rather selective. They get all worked up over CIQ yet say absolutely nothing about legalized rape that is SMS fees. They worry about a cell phone watching their every step while they are already being watched and tracked, EVERYWHERE. Your ISP already monitors your web traffic. Your bank already monitors your transactions. Your supermarket, gas station, restaurant already watch you like a hawk. Your cable and satellite provides and TV networks already watch you watching TV. Every time you input a pin code in ATM, click on TV remote, write an email - you are being watched and recorded.
So relax and sleep well tonight, my fellow xda'ers. Big Brother is not only watching you; he's also watching over you. If you wish to stick with your fears and superstitions, be my guest, but please do wear a tinfoil hat while you're outside, so I can identify and avoid you.
Intriguing commentary and food for thought.
"IF" CIQ is logging your SMS, would the same people incensed by that also be livid if their cell company couldn't retrieve their texts logs for evidence in a court case?
I've seen several court cases where text message records were admitted as evidence. So people want texts archived if it benefits them but on the other hand NOT recorded?

Who the hell records movies on their phones? Now if I see something at a theater I want a picture of I cant have it just because my phone will think I might be in a movie viewing area? What about all the theaters in malls? No taking pictures in malls because there is a movie theater?!
And concert grounds? They really think they have the right to take our devices capabilities away from us during festivals? Hell I take more pics at festivals than I do any other time!! This pisses me off really bad, its the first step towards the government having total control over all our devices and when we can do what with them. I really thought about putting the swear filter to the test for this post. I am disappoint.

Even if it winds up required (which it wont) there's only one contender with custom Roms that can remove it. I can't seem to remember who though

lol, that would be best for everybody.. Unless it becomes required and manufacturers have to pay Apple to use it by law.

well if you read the article Apple has indeed patented it, and Samsung aren't going to copy that one if they even the slightest bit of common sense
I just read the article and it's coming across as all kinds of morally disgusting. Imagine police brutality that nobody can record on their phones? Or if nobody could record the pepper spray cop walking around paper spraying students? I am not much for conspiracies but this is setting all kinds of bells off.

Several states do not want you recording the police, I think some have passed laws against it already.

Illegal or not if I felt my rights were being violated, I would do anything in my power to record what transpired. If a company worked with police to prevent me from doing that then they obviously don't want my money.

I agree, and I would too. But the government holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force, so your going to get your ass whooped or be locked up for taking that picture. Plus the police will just confiscate your device, so better have it uploading in the background or you will never be able to prove it. And even if you do have the pics they will not be usable in court if the law says you cant take the pics.
Craziness. Also one little tweak for hackers to get their hands on and wreak havoc on iOS users. If it's on the phone it's in the code and in theory anyone with the right knowledge could take advantage of it.

It doesn't matter if they're applicable in court. Groups like the ACLU would have my back on it and I would spare no expense (even beyond support from any groups/organizations that supported me) in making it into a PR nightmare for everyone involved. Just look at the Rodney King trial. He was involved in a high speed chase while driving with a blood alcohol around .19 and wound up being front and center in one of the biggest civil rights cases of the decade. Public perception has a lot more sway over how things are handled than facts.
I just want to clarify that I'm not belittling what Mr.King had to go through, just pointing out that illegal or not, the Police need to be accountable for their actions.

And it's okay if you did belittle him. The dude was a piece of crap through and through. It was just the excuse LA needed so the animals could come out and riot, rape, pillage, and murder. You're very right about public perception. The media in all its glory never lets a crisis go to waste. Most police "brutality" videos never show the whole scene/situation from stop to finish. I also wager to say that police brutality occurs at a much smaller rate than what the public "perceives" to take place. Not to mention look at the statistics of how many law enforcement officers exist in the U.S. then compare that to the actual, honest to goodness, police brutality incidents and I bet it's less than 0.5%.
Are there piece of **** cops out there? Yes. But I don't see anyone firing politicians these days for royally ****ing up your life. I don't see any media people losing their job for blatantly swaying public perception and falsifying the news and often times just short of inciting riots.
But hey I'm just a little guy in the DOJ who calls it like he sees it and may have wrote a few thesis papers on police corruption and brutality.
I have no problem with being filmed while on the job. My problem is where you take a snippet of an escalated situation to portray me as going beyond my duties as a law enforcement officer and painting me as a bad guy. More so, law enforcement deals with the worst of the worst on a daily basis. We try to do our jobs to the extent that the law allows while also trying to keep the public happy. We are not here to serve you. (IMHO), nor protect you. Exercise your 2nd amendment right for that. We are here to separate the good from evil before you have to.
Each day I'm tasked with waiting for someone to push my adrenaline on overload, knowing today, could be the day, I go meet my maker. I also have to remember that I represent the agency I work for, and public eyes are always watching. I also remember that no matter how much an individual tries to do harm to me verbally or physically I must act in a manner accordingly to how I've been trained and know when to never go above the needed use of force.
While you may sit there and belittle me, I have to push that aside when you call me to come help, assist, save you from whatever danger came your way. In return I ask that you, from one human being to another, always remember that I too make mistakes. That at any point in time I could be sued, my family could be in danger, or any of us could be killed, all because I had a SPLIT SECOND to make a decision on how to react to a highly stressful and downright pants ****ting situation, because you, John Q Public, along with the law said I must follow my duties of removing bad guy A from the streets.
So I ask you, the next time you see a "police brutality" video streaming all over the web or media, please be sure you have all the facts before you cast your first stone. Put yourself in that officer's shoes from start to finish.
Also you as a citizen, it is you duty to know your rights, as a citizen. Use them if you find an over-zealous "authoritative" figure encroaching them. Be polite, be courteous, and be right. You ask the same of us.
So here's some facts. Law enforcement officers have the highest divorce rates out of any profession in the nation. We also have the highest suicide rates. The average life expectancy of a law enforcement officer is 57 years of age. Coincidentally that is also the maximum age allowed before mandatory retirement in the DOJ. Now ask yourself.....what do these tidbits tell you?
ETA: And some tidbits about me. I think the war on drugs is a waste of time and money. I think Fast & Furious goes all the way to the top of the administration and they should all be in prison. I'm neither democrat nor republican. I do not support socialism. I fully support the 2nd amendment and believe every citizen has a natural born right to carry a weapon. I do not think all prison inmates are guilty. I do think Washington DC needs a reset button. I support the military and the war on terror. I do think Iraq was somewhat of a mistake. I do think the current police state has gone too militarized and should be tamed. I like to think we as a nation can do anything we want, but realize that more and more this becomes a nation of sheep or people that don't concern themselves with the things they should. I think reality TV has ruined 51% of the current population.
And as much as I love technology and Android, I think smartphones have set people's social skills back decades, if not centuries.

I would never make an unfounded claim about the Police, especially not one about Police brutality. I believe that like all people (they're only human) they are mostly good. However if for even a second I believe that my rights are being encroached upon I will not hesitate to use any resource I can, media included, to bring it to light. Most "controversies" are a bunch of hype and not having all the facts, but if even 1/10th of a percent are real they need to be brought to light. Any time a person is given elevated authority over another there needs to be some kind of check to keep them in line. The media isn't perfect, but it's the closest thing we have to a semblance of something that "watches those who watch over us".

Frankly, these petitions are getting out of hand! Its supposed to be a powerful tool to gather the masses for things that really matter. Open source, more support, freedom, things that are important. LG or any other manufacturer for that matter won't reduce their prices just because someone who does not know half the things going behind pricing decisions, asks them to. Don't like the pricing, don't buy.
This needs to be stopped, or even the petitions which would have had an impact otherwise will start looking like someone throwing a tantrum.

Exactly this :highfive:
I sure hope a google employee isn't on this forum reading these threads. Google comes out with a phone that is much less expensive than anything else of comparable specs and yet we still have people trying to stir up the masses against them?
Should I start a petition against toyota that my car costs a different amount than in other countries? How about any manufacturer of anything I start a petition against?
Everyone stop acting as company CEO's, your beloved item you want isn't the price you want, DONT BUY IT. You can even go ahead and hate the company, that's not how vusiness is conducted. Company choose prices and then consumers decide if they buy or not. And then, guess on who's wallet it is if they didn't choose the optimal price? THE COMPANY, so shut up and swallow the pill or start your own phone making business.
There are much more important things that you guys could create a petition for.

I think, and I want to believe that this reaction from your part at all, and due to a misunderstanding of the fact. know that the problem is producing not only for Italy, but for all of Europe and probably even for the usa! LG has decided to sell its nexus € 4590 / $, then it is available to 350 € / $ on google playstore. but the real concern is that some countries are not entitled to google playstore, and even if this is not the fault of LG, were it even really penalizes countries that are in the story! ! In addition to that, how can sell LG mobile google, which declare his mobile trying to sell € 350 / $ because it is mobile prices too expensive! So yes, it is true that the petition is based are made for much more serious problem than the price of a smartphone, but at the same time, this is the only way that works for a multinational company has to understand that we sum does not agree with his political advantage against all odds!

Now as for the "without censor" that is not the case. This thread will be censored if it gets out of hand.

You think you should be able to post anything on a privately owned forum with no controls from the moderators?
As for the thread being locked / deleted, that's because these sort of petition threads don't do anything good for the forum and always turn into flamewars. You can see the same thing happening in the "petition for microsd card slot" thread below this one.

I do not want nothing to create a polemic, just that my intention is to collect a max of person who will want to join my cause. thank you kindly let live thread and will give him a chance.
I wan to start a petition to stop the useless petitions in this forum.

Do you want to change my life?

Hello everyone,
my name is Henri and I want you to gift me five thousand three hundred and eighty-nine dollars.
5437$ or about 4800€. (Rates May 13,2015 GMT)
If you have not clicked away yet, let me explain:
I live in Berlin, Germany and I am 21 years old.
When I was about 16 years old I was moderate to severe depressed. Thought about killing myself, cried myself to sleep et cetera. I don't want to go into detail with this, because you have all heard those heartbreaking stories before.
Anyway, I got over it. I did not go into therapy. Instead I decided to fix the problems which depressed me. Those were mostly that I did not have a social life at all and had a good amount of social anxiety.
I wasn't able to ask an elderly woman for the time on the streets, started sweating when people I didn't know talked to me in school and so on.
And obviously, I didn't have any female contact besides my mother and sister.
In 2011 I had a breakdown and decided that I had to change or I would eventually kill myself in a weaker moment.
I went out to fix my social life and become happy. And I succeeded.
Long story short: I pushed myself into social interactions, pushed myself to talk to girls. On this journey I found awesome friends, two especially which could not be closer to me. One of them had the same goals as I, wanted to overcome all social borders there are.
I also met a lot of great girls, eventually other guys asked me for advice.
I was the happiest person I knew.
This is when I and and the friend mentioned above decided that we could actually teach other guys to get to where we are.
We are currently building a German website where we want to give advice for young guys on talking to girls, fitness, having great sex, fashion, hygiene, motivation, discipline, managing happy relationships and ironically living a happy life.
Ironically, because right now I am depressed as f**k again. This is because I don't have money, my parents don't have enough to support me. I got a job, but I literally started crying there because I felt so miserable. At home I feel miserable because I have no money. I am working in sales without base salary.
My expenses are about 600€ a month. In Germany, parents get some money for their „childs“ as long as they study, so I get close to 200€ a month from them. 400€ left.
My options right now are :
1) „Manning up“ and work and hope that therapy fixes this.
2) Getting student loans and go to university in a field with which I will be able to pay back the roughly 20.000€ in loans, just so that I do not have to work right now and can put my energy into the website.
3) Moving back into my parent's place on the other side of the country and everything on hold. They live in small village, so I won't be able to meet and advice people, talk to girls, network etc.
I would give up everything I built here.
Yesterday I decided to give another idea a shot. The idea you are reading right now.
I figured if I could get 4800 people to give me 1€ each, I could live one year without stress.
12 months times 400€ is 4800€.
I am convinced that my website and other projects will make enough money for me after this year.
If not, and this is a very small if, I will be where I am right now again, hopefully with more valuable lessons learned, happy and therefore able to work a normal job if I have to.
You see, I am basically asking you for time. I realize that 1$/1€ isn't much, but if you gave it to everyone you'd be dead broke. I do not know how I can convince you that I deserve this money more than anyone else, but I know that all I need right now is this money to handle this situation and put all my energy into the website and hopefully helping others.
I am asking you to gift me your next coffee, ice cream cone or burger.
If just 1% of the people reading this decides to help me out with one dollar, I have to show this to 543,700 people.
This is why I actually looked up the biggest online communities and I am posting this to every single one that can somehow relate to my situation or the subjects of our site. Some just seem to have cool people in them.
As you will see, there isn't any content up yet. We already have a lot but want to publish about ten good articles for the start. And yes, this is a working-title
If this post gets removed because it violated any specific rule I understand that and want you to know that it wasn't on purpose. I also tried to post into Off-Topic or similar.
If you have any questions, I will answer them as soon as I can.
Please don't give us advice on the design or that wordpress „is bad“. I appreciate it, but I want to answer questions about the content, our goals and whatnot instead of discussing webdesign. So far we have been working on content only.
The site as it stands is just a vehicle for the donate page, since sites like „fundme“ take 30cents per donation plus fees.
Again, all I am asking for is 1$ to solve all my problems for one year.
Thank you for your time.

Perhaps you should be reading the forum rules before posting stuff like this, as you were clearly aware that those exist.

While many of us, myself included, sympathize with your issue, this site is not the place for raising funds for yourself. This is against forum rules and is simply not allowed.
