save multiple SMS drafts for the same recipient - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
There's something I'd like to do on my samsung galaxy note that I was able to do on my Symbian-based device in the past, but I can't figure out how to do it under Android.
I'd like to save multiple SMS drafts per recipient. However, my Galaxy note only seems to permit me to save one SMS draft per recipient, with each subsequent draft overwriting the previous draft for that same recipient.
Here's why I'd like to have this capability:
If I want to type a long SMS to someone (more than 160 characters), what I like to do is split the message at logical places such as after commas, sentence endings, etc. I would do this by getting close to the end of a given SMS message and then stopping it at the point that I choose, saving it as a draft, and then continuing my text in a new SMS starting at the beginning of the next sentence, phrase, etc. Then, once the set of drafts is completed, I will first proofread and make corrections in the entire group of drafts, and only then will I manually send them off, one after the other.
Yes, I know I can type a long message and the SMS app will automatically split it into pieces after 160 characters, but that often splits words or breaks sentences and phrases in places that I don't want them broken.
Here's how I try to accomplish this on my G1:
Invoke the Messaging app.
Select New Message.
Select recipient.
Compose first SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 1 gets saved).
Select New Message.
Select same recipient as before.
Compose second SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 2 gets saved).
However, at this point, draft 1 has been overwritten by draft 2. In other words, only draft 2 remains.
Can anyone think of a way for me to accomplish what I want (or at least something similar) on my samsung galaxy note?
Thanks in advance.

WM 6.1 and group (multiple recipient) txt msg burden

I've come across an burdening issue sending a txt with multiple recipients. Though the grouped chat style text messaging is an incredible advantage, there are some cons and i'm wondering if they can be fixed somehow.
Because of the chat style text messaging, your first outgoing message gets coped to your inbox. Is there any way for the first outgoing message to NOT be copied to your inbox?
This poses an issue for when you are sening a mass/group text message. For example, if i send out "Happy New Year" to 50 people in one text, i get 50 outgoing copies in my inbox.
Suggestions?
It doesnt really get copied, The threaded sms app just shows that you started a conversation with those recipients. I do see what your saying though, and i guess it can get somewhat annoying having all those open conversations in your inbox, BUT now you only have those 50 or so threads in your inbox as opposed to (like me) thousands of messages to scroll through. Plus as an added benefit you can see who replied in an orderly fashion. I for one would like the option to turn sms threading on/off, but I guess this is progress...

Well as much as i love it, i would like to see that the program doesn't show the started conversation on the first initial text message. It should show it when they reply. This would solve the group text messaging issue

If it's even something that can be edited... might be part of the program's code.

problem with "call sms blocker"

Hi,
I've found the software "call sms blocker". It had been made to block incoming unwanted calls and logged it... hide private sms...
I've attent to configure it but no way ! it does not stop anything that incoming !
Have you test it ? with success ???
yes. I use it and it works perfectly. It is an awesome program.
The way i have it setup is I have it set to accept all and then I make a custom list of numbers to reject. In this custom list I added all my phonebook contacts. Its kind of confusing but you have to remember that your phone only replies via sms to REJECTED calls/ and or sms. So yeah it sems weird to say reject contacts but this is what u need to do if you want your phone to send an automatic sms reply back to your contact.
So i did this for both calls and sms. I set both to ACCEPT under the "status" tab. then go into each tab "call" and "sms" and create new lists within each. Do this by tapping and holding in the window area and say ADD. Name it, make it REJECT, and make the action Hangup. Then go down to "List" (right soft key) and select number>add>phonebook. You can then check all the numbers from your phonebook that you want to add. Then also under "List" (right soft key) you can go into Advance Opt and set your custom message.
Repeat for the "sms" tab. Tap and hold in window area to make a new list. Name it, make it REJECT type, and I say "move to blocked" for action type. (this creates a new folder in your inbox of your messages so it makes it easy to find the sms that the program blocked. Add numbers from your phonebook same as I said above.
Now one thing to keep in mind. When I first started using this program I found that it only responded to my missed calls and not sms. What I discovered was that all the numbers for the sms list had to have a 1 in front of the number so that it looked like this 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx. Whereas for my call list, the numbers in the list are like this (xxx) xxx-xxxx. For some reason I dont know why, this makes a difference.
So give it a try. I hope this helps you.

Doesn't send more than 160 characters by sms

If the text message I send exceeds 160 characters, it throws "Your text message cannot be sent" and send only the first 160 characters. But I am able to receive text messages more than 160 characters.
I tried hard reset still the same. Please help !!!
An sms is by definition 160 characters or less
That rather abitrary number was decided on when that tech was new. They didn't see anyone needing more. That being said, I can still write a message that is longer, but it gets sent in multiples sms's. I'm with at&t and even when I had the stock rom, this was possible. The problem could be a restriction set in your ROM, or by your carrier.
Is this a new issue, or one that has always been there?
I started using this phone recently so I can't tell. But I understand that this is something to do with EMS changes in the registry.

That number was not aritrary. It was the amount of unused space that was available in the control channel packets. Someone decided that space could be used to send short messages in the control channel packets and would result in no extra overhead in the amount of data being sent and received. They may or may not have "saw" needing more but it didn't really matter since that's all that's available in each packet.
However, "concatinated SMS" does allow for a larger packet by sending multiple SMS messages, each with a sequence number. The phone receives each SMS message and put them back in the order according to the sequence number. Phones that don't handle concatinated SMS simply display the individual messages as seperate ones.
i still have the same problem, does any one know how to solve that problem ???

[Q] remove message logging?

Has anyone yet figured out a way to not have the Captivate log every single text and call you make?
It is so annoying to have to hunt all through my phone looking for tracks. Originally I assumed that they could be erased by deleting the thread in messaging. Wrong!
So then go to the contact/history and delete it there. Wrong! There is nothing in the history tab.
So then open the dialer, go to call log and look, every sent and recieved text, mms, and call is logged there as well. Its like a paranoid secret agent designed this system.
And heaven forbid that you installed a second messaging program such as Handcent to log everything all over again.
I currently use Horizon to keep my private texts private, but even that allows the outgoing texts to be logged.
Yes, deleting the thread, then selecting every individual item in the log from the unwanted caller works. Or even deleting the entire call log at once will work. But short of that has anyone come up with a work around for the call logging intrusion?
Found "Not log this call" on the market to auto delete phone calls log (Not free).
For sms you can edit the text message limit and reduce it to 1. This will at least keep 1 text message in store before it gets deleted. But default it's set to 200 msg per conversation and 20 mms per conversation.
Interesting. I looked at that app, I may have to try it.
Did you actually get your message inbox to go to 1? Mine will only go down to 10.
I am currently testing it to see if it erases the call log history as it erases the inbox but I dont think it does.
Ok, so setting the message limit to 10 only deletes the messages, not the logs.
However, while playing with it I found out that by selecting one of the logged entries (text or call) it pulls up a history type page. From there you can select the bottom left soft key, choose delete and then choose select all. I am not sure but I think it only deletes one page at a time or something as it seems to leave a few behind. I am still playing but its a hell of a lot better that trying to select each individual log in the main log screen. Its sort of what you would expect the history tab in the contact screen to do. (especially if you came from WinMo )
I hope someone else finds this helpful. I did a lot of searching and found a lot of complaints about this awful "feature" but no answers. This isnt much of an answer but its seems a bit more tolerable since I figured the history part out.
It also seems to be something Samsung adds as Evo and the Droid don't do it.
Check out HistoryEraser. I think I saw it on Lifehacker a few days ago, supposed to wipe away all your unwanted tracks.

TW MM How to make draft text message bubbles/multiple drafts

If anyone wishes they could type a draft text and leave it there while still sending/receiving, or make multiple drafts, a quick CSC change allows that. Using the CSC Features Expert app, select the Message category, search "draft" and you'll get "Enable Multi Draft Box." Type TRUE in the line beneath it, reboot, and bam—draft message bubble!
Each draft stays in the text timeline at the time you typed it, unsent, and you can tap it anytime to make it the active text or delete it.
(Yes, you can always just use the clipboard, but this works great for reminders or holding a thought for a minute.)
Credit goes to @Patrick.H, @Eleo, and the NXTeam who used this in their stellar Note 3 MagMa.
