Question about kernels - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i finally flashed my Note with the ICS repack from chainfire and i want to overclock it to about 1.5ghz. Wich kernel is the best at the moment to flash with this from?
Fyi I already have root and setcpu installed.

If i am not wrong then there are no separate kernels available for ICS roms. The default CF kernel which comes with ICS is the only kernel that runs with ICS roms.

Correct, and unfortunately it's clocked at 1.2 Ghz.
But still underclocked the speed difference to GB is quite noticeable being ICS buttery smooth whereas GB had its fare share of hiccups.

Ok guys thanks for the reply's i will use my Note without overclocking for now.
It is indeed smoother than GB but I wanted to speed it up because a friend of mine wanted to compare my Note to his G Nexus. I know i cheat from time to time

It's not that I'm not satisfied with the kernel I run, it's just that I'm certain there's some better one out there.
EDIT: What do you think of the kernel labeled Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0? From here: http://tiamat-dev.com/mahimahi/
the kernel you mentioned is what i am currently using as testing so far its working good with MIUI 2.3.23 and it offers up to 1.2GHZ overclocking which is not stable on my nexus at least

Any overclock beyond 1113 Mhz is unstable.

sry for my noob question. but is the kernel jus for oc purpose or for overall performance(battery life, call audio quality, smoothness etc)?
cos i am happy with stock kernel. no issues at all
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
the stock kernel was good for me to it did not give me any trouble but i like to mess around with my devices the change log for the kernel can be found here
Code:
http://tiamat-dev.com/8x50-changes/
as you can see there are a few improvements to the kernel with each update
I have been having 3G mobile network issue with CM7 base ROM. On certain location, I cannot download and make or receive calls. my 3G icon arrows show upload activities but no download happening. My ISP name (Maxis Malaysia) showing as normal. I upgraded to CM7.2, tried Kang ROM, preshoot kernel and change new SIM card but doesn't help. Anyone has any ideas on this problem? ROM or Kernel issue? Thank you.

Which do you find best out of pershoot's kernel, IntersectRaven's kernel or tiamat's GB kernel?

Wildmonks [Kernel] [2.6.38.8 (CM7)] HAVS/SVS + 1152MHz (09/17/11)
is the best I have seen so far, used it for months and often thought I was glad I did because it seemed more stable than stock !

Use Thor V11 kernel. I have used about 5 different kernels and this is by far and away the best one. I overclock and undervolt. Also get away from stock ICS as it's well know that it's 30%-40% slower than custom ROMs. ParanoidAndroid is a good customer ICS ROM. You can change between phone and tablet mode or hybrid which is a mixture of the two on a per app basis. This ROM and kernel will help with lag else you just have to suffer with the official ICS and make do with a kernel that may help a little.

[q] install overclock kernel on cm10 - optimus 2x

hi guys. i need to know the link of a possible overclock kernel to install on my lg optimus dual with cm10 because from the cyanogenmod i can overclock max at 1000GHz ( i dont know if theres a way to overclock >1000GHz without changing kernel)and how to install it. thank you all!!
there are no kernels that support overclocking yet. have to wait for someone to release a kernel that supports overclocking.

The OC Kernel will be fine, but I think current kernel is still enough for smooth CM...
Tips: Delete some sys app with Titanium (you will have more Ram and Rom)...

[Q] Undervolting my i9000

Hey all..
So i'm following this thread and it asks to find an undervolted kernel :/
Well.. I don't have one.. as well as my ROM is stock JPJV6 GB.. and it's lag fixed.. with vodoo kernel
I looked it up and found that OC/UV Beater2 can undervolt you kernel but it says that my kernel doesn't support it.. what do I do now??
You need to flash a kernel that supports under volting. Eg Semaphore.

Do I have to disable the lagfix? and does Semaphore has lagfix?
I think everyone is using voodoo lag fix nowadays, so it should be fine even if you leave lag fix on. However, make sure you are flashing the version for Samsung rom, not AOSP roms.
